My RATING is ZERO STARS! The website won't let me put ZERO. My sweet dog Miles (a Bedlington Terrier) is not easy to groom and he is very scared of other dogs. Miles and my partner and I have been working with a wonderful dog behaviorist, Heidi, for over a year now. Heidi has helped Miles have a happier life. Heidi spent a while trying to help us find a good groomer for Miles. (The one groomer that Miles loved recently moved to Florida.) Heidi spoke with Ania for at least 20 minutes and I spoke with her for about 15 minutes, both of us explained the special needs of Miles. In particular, we explained that he is scared of grooming and scared of other dogs. We also had a preference for a groomer who was not a man, since Miles feels less comfortable with men. Both of us told Ania we were willing to wait until she returned from her vacation so she could groom Miles instead of her recommendation, Gabriel. Ania insisted that we use Gabriel, that he is very good with all dogs. Both Heidi and I complied with Ania's wishes based on her recommendation. She suggested we have the first appointment at 10am so no other dogs were present. We trusted Ania. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and there were four dogs in the shop at the same time as Miles!! Worse still Gabriel told us that he knew NOTHING about our special requests for Miles!! Apparently, Ania ignored everything Heidi and I discussed with her. Miles, Heidi and I left, never to return again. From the looks of a few reviews we are not the first to complain about Ania not listening to requests. Conclusion: if you have any special requests for your dog DON'T USE BFF PETWASH!!! read more

I have never written a Yelp review before, and do not intend to cause harm to a small business during a pandemic, but feel it is necessary for other dog owners to know what they are walking into here. I have used BFF Petwash twice since October of 2020 for my doodle. Both times, I was slightly put off by the staff's demeanor towards me and my dog, but looked past it because of the good reviews here and the recommendation to use this neighborhood spot. My dog hates coming here, which I should have taken as a sign earlier on. This last week I reluctantly took my pup in for a grooming session. She was recently spayed, so her matting got very gnarly over her two week recovery period. This is normal for doodles, especially puppies who are growing into their adult coats. I asked the man working to do everything possible to de-matt her (without harm) while keeping her hair long and fluffy. He said there was no way to do that -- he'd have to shave her short. I sadly agreed that was the best for her and went on my way. When I picked her up, she was not shaved. He explained he was able to brush out her matting, which I was happy to hear! However, later on, I noticed her licking and pawing at several spots on her chest, and armpits. I was absolutely horrified and saddened to inspect further and see a huge, bloody open wound on her chest, and two more sore/red spots under her armpits. It looks like they had poured powder in them to stop the bleeding, and she was biting at them to relieve itching or pain. I'm now seeking treatment for her from my vet for these injuries. I've contacted the owner via email (voice mailbox is always full) and hope to hear back ASAP to rectify this situation. I cannot even imagine the pain my pup was in while being groomed. I will not be using BFF Petwash ever again, and urge them to revisit their business practices. read more

I have a toy poodle with very curly coat. Until today she has never had a positive experience at a groomer. This is a top-notch business and I could not express how happy I am with how my dog looks and how she behaved when she came out because she was as happy as she was when she went in, which means there was nothing traumatizing :-). Jessica, the groomer we worked with took the time to be gentle... She was patient, so we did not have to shave her. I showed her an example of what we would love if it was even possible(???) and she was able to emulate it! That was unexpected. The staff clearly goes above and beyond and I will certainly be a customer from now on. read more

They were very gentle with her and told me in advance what to expect with her being as wiggly as she is:) she came out happy as can be and looking wonderful. October 08, 2023 Dear Company, I wrote to you about BFF Ania The Manager after she groomed my Toy Poddle. She did a very good job and I was very happy. I told her I had a small Yorkie and that I would bring him to her to be groomed after his hair grows in, which would be in a few months. His hair was cut off - shaved off by the groomer without my permission. I asked her why she did that and she said "It was a SUMMER CUT. That was the end of her. My Yorkie's hair started to grow in and I told Ania, BFF that I would bring him down. She said she knows how to do a Yorkie cut and I expected him to look nice. I gave her a letter that stated I want a pony tail, his ears down and NOT TO CUT HIS BODY HAIR AS IT WAS GROWING IN. ON September 25, 2023 I brought Peanuts down. She had a note and read it. The end result was SHE CUT OFF ALL HIS HAIR ON HIS BODY AND CUT ALL HIS PONY TAIL HAIR OFF COMPLETLY AND CUT HIS FACE VERY VERY SHORT. I could not recognize him when he got home. SHE DID A TERRIBLE TERIBLE JOB AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CUT A YORKIE. THAT WAS NOT ALL SHE DID. DO NOT GO HERE! We had the worse experience taking our Mini goldendoodle. Was told he was matted which any dog groomer worth it's salt would of just seen that he needed a good brush but this seems to be their approach as another dog owner picked up their dog before us and she was told the exact same thing and her dog shaved within an inch of its life. Not only that but the lady working there tried to give us someone else's dog - which she then proceed to let run around unattended by the front door whilst she spent 5 minutes finding our dog. The appointment took over 6 hours ( we were initially told 4 hours, then 5 hours ) for a dog that was completely shaven. No skill involved whatsoever and yet they charge a "surcharge" for doodles. Why I don't know?! Finally, we then had to stand and watch the groomer curse and huff whilst she spent the last 15 minutes finishing our dogs cut. Just as we thought things couldn't get any worse, she then had to spend another 10 minutes locating our dogs lead and collar which she'd somehow misplaced. I actually feel sorry for the lady who works here, if it's not her own business then she is clearly over booked and not able to give good customer. read more

I have been coming here for almost 2 years and have had the best experience with my large german shepherd / golden retriever mix. Jessica and Gabriel are great with my dog. I usually come by during the work day with barely any notice because my schedule is hectic and they do their best to accommodate me. In terms of timing and communication, I really like how they give me a 15 minute heads up before my dog is ready. If I am busy and not available on time, they have been accommodating for that too. We were really mystified to pick our Aussie up with a completely shaved strip up her butt! I was asked on the phone and by the groomer what we would like and very specifically said MINIMAL cutting, no more than an inch. When I asked what happened the groomer said it was to keep things clean when she peed. Part of grooming is to know what each breed is meant to look like, and Aussies never ever have shaved butts. More vexing is that she completely ignored what we asked for. It looks like our dog was shaved for a procedure at the vet. Also the prices are super high, $65 for a "mini cut" which is just cleaning up around the face and butt. Wouldn't recommend unless you're into a "Brazilian" for your dog. read more

We have been taking our pup here for 4 or 5 years and the groomers are all wonderful, specifically Anya (owner), Robert, and Jessica. There have also been others whose names I can't recall. I see bad reviews from customers who probably dealt with that one groomer during Covid who was incredibly gruff and did not belong at the "front of the house." He groomed well the one time we proceeded (another time we bailed on him) but obviously we're better off now that he has moved on. Don't judge this place by that guy. I'd like to start off saying I have never, ever written a Yelp review before this one. The sheer disrespect we received with the grooming of our goldendoodle puppy has compelled me make sure other owners are aware. I'd give zero stars if I could. This was our 2nd groom with the salon, the first one we had no issues so we figured this would go smoothly. We dropped him off, explained what we'd like done, and 5 minutes later received a call from the salon groomer letting us know that the dog would require dematting. When I inquired what that would entail and if it would hurt the puppy I got "well, yes, it's a painful process and you can expect redness on the skin, but because of the condition the dog was brought it it's needed". FIRST, to say to your client "the condition the dog was in..." is not only rude but demeaning. This is our first doodle so we are admittedly learning but to accuse owners of poor care of the coat is unacceptable. Furthermore I had told the groomer to please wait, I would need to discuss with my fiancé and call back to confirm if we'd like to move forward. I was told "well you won't speak to me, I don't answer the phones, you will speak to the owner and OK". We hung up - after speaking with my fiancé we decided to we want to pick the dog up. I called the salon back several times and it would go straight to voicemail; tried calling from another # in the event calls were being screened. After getting through about 5 mins of persistent calling, we were told that the owner could see on camera (she was remote) that the dog was started on (after asking to wait!) and the dematting was almost done. At this point, my fiancé had ALREADY gone back to the salon, but because the groomer was in the back and owner was remote - he wasn't able to flag him down. At this point, we knew the dog would be stressed so we left the dog to have the groom completed thinking the worst was behind us. WELL WE WERE WRONG. When we picked up the dog we were horrified. We understand that the groomer said redness is expected but the dog was extremely red, especially in sensitive areas such as inner thighs (understand the skin is thin here) but also, the cut was so close he had nicks in SEVERAL places, also on his private areas (if you know what I mean). More horrifying is we notice the next day he was continuously licking the back of his back leg and back of his front elbow - we discovered he must of gotten cut quite badly because it was inflamed and crusty (clearly a scab started to form or they applied powder to make the bleeding stop). Further investigation revealed smaller but similar cuts and scabs on his chest and near his shoulder blades. Upon sending photos to the owner, as we had a texting chain, I only received screenshots back from her conversation with the groomer, Skyler, investigating what happened. The screenshots showed him being defensive, that his job was well done. NO acknowledgement of the pain the dog must have gone through, NO apology, no compensation, no empathy. No owner should ever go through this. I can't imagine the pain and fear our puppy went through. We may have looked past this as an isolated event a requested another groomer next time but the fact that we didn't even receive an apology or any concern for the dogs well being (especially after seeing pictures) tells us that this place just doesn't give a shit about pets or customers. I brought my two calico cats here in late September to get a shave. The women working were very friendly and nice, yet I was quite shocked that they were working in a environment with no A/C or ventilation when it was absolutely boiling inside and out. I was very happy with the quick shave and service, but it wasn't until a couple days later that I noticed a huge cut on my cat's neck. I brought her to the vet straight away and they gave me a prescription for her and a note confirming that the cut was from the shave. I contacted BFF the next day and followed up in the weeks following via phone and email. No response or accountability was taken by the shop for the extra $200 spent for their mistake. To be honest, I would gladly have returned to BFF if they had taken responsibility for my cat's infection and vet bill. read more

I absolutely loved Bff pet wash and I know my pup, Amherst, felt the same way. Since adopting my pup from the shelter, it's been very difficult to drop him off at the groomer seeing as he can't handle being placed in a crate and has a bit of fear of strangers/separation anxiety from his parents and a DIY pet wash is perfect for us! The space itself is wide open with 8 large stainless steel tubs. No need for reservations, it's first come-first-serve. The woman working there, ?I think the owner, was so sweet and helped walk us through everything we needed to know in order to prep us for getting our pup nice & clean. Everything you could need is included--from brushes, towels, a shampoo/conditioner bar where you can choose a specific shampoo based on what your pup needs(my dog has been experiencing a bit of a dry coat now that the weather is getting colder and I chose a soothing oatmeal shampoo), ear cleaning pads, conditioning sprays, and scented fragrances. The entire process couldn't have been easier- no messy clean up and our pup didn't have to go through the stress of being left in the hands of stranger to bathe him. I also really love the products they use as I have a hard time at home getting him to smell as delicious as when he leaves the groomer and my husband & I can't stop snuggling him as he is so soft and smells amazing! Never left a yelp review before but this place is truly terrible. This groomer has the absolute worst customer service, and I would strongly advise you to go elsewhere. After making multiple attempts to book an appointment online (no one was answering the phone), I crossed my fingers that the system accepted my booking, but decided to follow up by leaving a message on the phone asking for a call back to confirm it was in fact booked. After two days with no response, I decided to call back and was gruffly told by a woman "yea, it's booked." I guess the call back was asking too much? The day of my appointment, things got worse. I got a call early in the day asking if I could move my appointment earlier, but unfortunately due to my work schedule, that was impossible. A few hours later, I got a call saying my appointment was cancelled as the groomer "would be sitting around with nothing to do all day until my appointment." After moving my schedule around to accommodate bringing my dog there, finding out the day of that it was cancelled was beyond frustrating. I guess it's the customer's fault that they don't know how to organize a schedule properly? There was no apology given, and the young woman was very abrupt and rude on the phone. There are countless other groomers in the area, and while this one is the closest to my house, I'll never go back after the terrible service I experienced, and would advise you of the same. read more

Finally! A decent DIY dog washing place in Brooklyn. I went in today for the first time and was very impressed. Instead of one tub to wash your dog, they have eight brand spanking new, stainless steel tubs with easy access for your pet. The staff is very friendly and the prices are great. I've been looking for a place like this in Brooklyn for years and I'm so glad I finally found it. And it's quite possibly the best DIY place I've ever been to.
