Not the best experience here... not sure who was clipping my cat, a bit older woman. But immediately when I put her on the table the woman was saying she wasn't able to do my cat. EVEN THOUGH in the emails, I sent photos saying my cat is a long hair and needed some of her matted hair cut out and the person I was communicating with said it was no issue! This woman eventually starts to trim my cat, seemingly complaining the entire time about the matted hair as I am helping hold my cat to make sure she's still. The woman seemed very fidgety and even mentioned something about cutting my cat! THEN, OUT OF THE BLUE, this woman points to a spot on my cat and says, "Oh looks like she's got a tumor here." LIKE EXCUSE ME?! She made me sick. Not the best bedside manners if I would have to say! Just took my cat to the vet today and nothing is wrong, my cat is just on the heavier said and being a calico, she's got a lot of spots! Just very very very rude of this groomer to "assume" she can hand out medical advice and scare owners! I won't be returning! read more

My dog is not the easiest to handle so it took a while for my wife and I to find a groomer who could handle her and do fantastic work. Rosie was and has always been up to the task, having incredible patience and talent. Her ability to cut fur, brush and scale her teeth, and build a relationship with our dog is second to none. To start, Rosie, the owner, was very sweet and able to make arrangements to take us earlier than usual. As soon as we walked in, Teddi felt comfortable enough to jump in a start playing with the toys in the basket. When I picked her up, about 3 hours later, she looked adorable, smelled great and was as happy as can be. I would say that this was the best haircut/experience that Teddi has had thus far. It was only two weeks passed I have been took my cat for nails work. Just charged to me 20$ it was ok. Then this this week I took my cat again and we did good conversation with worker. What a great experience! I was able to bring my dog for a full service groom and was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable Rossy, the groomer, was. She talked to me about several training techniques she's learned to better train my 6 month old puppy. She was very thorough with her wash and took great care of my pup. It seems that she was a veterinarian in her home country of Peru and even told me wondrous stories about her previous pets. 10/10 would definitely recommend. My dog has always been quite nervous when being groomed - I think she was accidentally nicked by a groomer when she was a young pup. After a really bad experience at Skillman Pets, I ended up searching around Sunnyside and found this place. My experience here was way better than what I had previously dealt with the other groomer. The workers are Skillman Pets are rude and caused me dogs nails to grow out in a way where it started chipping in half. Just to tell everyone what happened when I tried to make an appointment. I wanted to have my Chinese Crested dog groomed there. She has an unusual haircut but a very easy cut and takes half the time as a long coated dog. The owner asked me to bring a picture in...and I did! Upon meeting her I showed her the picture ...and see looked at the picture told me to leave and used her a hand gesture to make me leave the store. Madagascar is an excellent spot to get your pet pampered or cleaned up. Rosie was unbelievably kind and thoughtful with my pup. You can tell instantly how much she loves animals and it made me feel a lot better. I have a somewhat anxious dog but when I dropped him off for his appointment he handled it really well. She doesn't use crates or cages so the dogs can be very relaxed. She did a dental scaling for my pup and his teeth look so healthy. Will obviously be coming back great service here. read more

Decided to give this place a try and I regret it. Took my dog María here after moving to Sunnyside and was called to pick her up after about two hours. About 45 minutes after the initial call (I was wrapping up work) I received another call from a frustrated Rosy telling me she needed to leave (it's 3pm, within business hours) and that she'd wait 5 minutes and no more. In the past, other groomers at different places had explicitly told me how long I had to pick her up but Rosy didn't tell me anything so I was confused. I rushed there and the light was off and my dog was cowering in a crate. Rosy told me that María kept trying to escape during the groom (which made me wonder why she wasn't on a leash on the table?) and that if I took more than 20 minutes to pick her up she'd have to charge me for day care. I told her I was unaware of time requirements and she said she must have forgotten to tell me and that she was going to add that to the website and the initial paperwork. I ended up tipping her anyway and walked off with my dog literally pacing out of the store and anxiously tugging on her leash. Once we got home I checked her and saw that she still had tons of hair in between her paw pads (I get her groomed specifically because she is sensitive to people touching her paws and previous experiences at other groomers had been great at that), her fur was super choppy around her neck, and she was panting. It has now been over an hour at home and she's still shaking and super uneasy. I did not enjoy this experience and it is very apparent that my dog didn't either. I'm now going to take her back to Zen Holistic Pet Spa in Brooklyn where she was gone for several hours but returned completely calm, with perfectly groomed paws, and looking a lot cleaner than she does now. read more

Danger! My dog was horribly injured here (photos attached)! Please beware. She needed to be rushed straight from the shop to the emergency vet with severe cornea burns to both eyes. Her eyes had swelled shut and she was in excruciating pain. It took morphine drops to the eyes for her to even open them and weeks of medications and treatments. According to the vet a chemical of some sort got into the eyes and wasn't flushed out. It was awful! I wish I had never decided to try the new place. My dog has been groomed religiously and never a problem. I have never seen something so awful. I can't tell you how horrible this was. Please keep your pets safe! 9/21/19 - in response to the owners reply - My intent in posting this review was to prevent another dog from suffering the same 3 months of pain and near blindness that my baby did. I did not post this review to spar with you about the event. It happened. Please note the photo of yourself trying to "fix" what happened, as well as my dog right after her grooming as we drove straight to the emergency vet from your salon. Unfortunately, taking legal action would result in a lot of time on my part and only would cover the medical bills, as the law does not acknowledge months of pain and suffering and my missed work and care for an animal. My dog was screaming and couldn't open her eyes when I picked her up. She couldn't walk, much less get a haircut. I would be happy to post the videos of you and your staff trying to force drops in her eyes as well if that would be helpful to your story. Also our texts following where you told me you couldn't afford emergency vet bills. As for the refund - you lost the dispute with my credit card company due to my facts given. You never contacted me or the veterinarian. Because you would not tell me what happened, they had to be careful with treatment and cover every possibility without causing more damage and permanent blindness, or causing further chemical reaction in the cornea. So most likely, she had way more medication than she actually needed, 9 prescriptions to take home, in addition to morphine eyedrops just to stop the howling and get the eyes open. She would have been permanently blind had I not gone immediately. We spoke from the vets office. You told me and the vet it was water. I sent photos of the damage with the vet and you still said it was water. I am happy to follow up with further documentation. I have videos, months of vet treatments and medication, as well as the credit card dispute case that was found in my favor due to my provided evidence. I would be happy to post this information as well. My intent again, was to prevent undue injury to another innocent animal. Not to spar with your business over details. *DO NOT COME HERE. OWNER LOST MY DOG* Yesterday, July 13, 2021, the owner Rosy was careless enough to let my dog escape from her establishment. I brought my medium sized Bichon Frise for a basic showering/cut and was told to return in two hours. About 40 minutes later we get a frantic call from Rosy saying our dog had escaped. We searched for about 1.5hours all over Sunnyside/Woodside and called multiple people to help. From her explanation, she bathed my dog and allowed him to roam freely in her area of work, alongside the other dogs there. While she worked on another dog, my dog pushed the white gate open and jumped her little 2/3ft high doggie fence which was the ONLY barrier to the outside; as she keeps the establishment door open. She claims my dog resisted and bite her, which I do not believe. My dog has never once bite anyone else and is incredibly docile with strangers. Nevertheless, this experience was absolutely HORRIBLE!! She would NOT even provide me with her business card after the fact. Ultimately we did find our dog and he seems to be free of any injuries. We will be taking him to the doctors to check that he wasn't hurt in anyway. I suggest anyone who cares for their pet go elsewhere. The reason for the TWO HOUR wait seems to be because of the fact she tries to attend to multiple dogs at once, instead of focusing on finishing with one. This is sorely based on what she told me happened yesterday. read more

I had seen Madagascar multiple times passing on the bus or walking around the neighborhood. I looked them up on yelp and saw the glowing reports. Her prices also looked very reasonable and as many people say there are not a lot of groomers for cats. Calli, my Scottish Fold, was getting a little messy around her rear as the hair was getting long. And every time she went to the litter box she would leave behind a nasty smell. I didn't think much could be done about the smell but wanted to make things easier on her and me by having the area cleaned and trimmed. Rosy cleaned the area and trimmed the hair but also recommended expressing the glands. Love that term, LOL. As soon as she recommended I said yes. Calli was verbal during the process and I am surprised she behaved as well as she did. But things are much better and I would highly recommend this business. read more
