Unfortunately I only found out about this business recently, I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed me to give my Labrador Ace whom is paralyzed in his hind legs a bath. My dog is a nervous Nelly - he hates baths and is a shedder. I want to enjoy my bathroom without it smelling like wet dog or finding his hair everywhere!!!!!! This was such a great find. This place is the best and just a short walk from the Astoria Blvd Train station. Due to Medical reasons, we actually had to start giving Penelope a bath ourselves so this place was perfect. We rushed in here yesterday at 640PM because they close at 7PM but thankfully Matt was so patient with us and said we didn't have to rush. The place is nicely set up with all stations cleaned. He showed me that they had shampoos, towels, a blow dry and even an apron for myself We were out of here by 705PM. This is my first time using a dog self wash and it was definitely a great experience. They have tubs for dogs all different sizes. It was empty when we arrived and the guy at the desk was helpful and gave us all the instructions. Our dog did very well with the bath. He didn't try to escape like he normally does at home. * To the owners of this business, don't let Emily T's grumpy review bother you: her beginning/ending comments were not only misleading, it appeared like she was venting her frustration about inflation in general. From a small biz perspective, I don't think some ppl realize why price tweaks are crucial to sustainably run a business, or why they had to be made in the first place. It's a good thing these overhead adjustments were made very early on, bc new patrons like myself weren't even aware/affected at all. And despite Emily's gripe with these changes, I actually think that your honest responses to her criticism are quite helpful in showcasing what a good responsible business looks like (the fact that she apparently didn't respond back just emphasizes that). Now to the actual review.... as someone forced to take a big dog to self-service washrooms, I've literally been to every available location in western QNS (there were a few, but now all of them have closed down since 2024). After going to Astoria Dog Wash twice in the past 6 months, it is hands down way better than the previous washrooms my pup has been to. Cost wise, it's the best deal around: for just $20 I can take my time bathing my anxious dog, who always makes a huge splashy mess (which is why I can't bathe him at home). There's 15 minutes of free blow drying time, but since my pooch hates that I can use as many provided towels as I need to dry off his dense double coat. There's enough room between each station, is well kept and organized and unlike the other washrooms, this space doesn't smell like you're in a tropical pet store or a stinky locker room. Some other establishments charge a lot more not only by your dog's size/weight, but also by time spent bathing. Plus they often fail to provide the bare minimum in basics like bath products and towels - sometimes the tubs aren't regularly cleaned up/hosed down (and often no aprons to keep you dry)! Vitality Pets was the prime example of that... Pet Supplies Plus in Maspeth was a very cheap option, but that location was a last resort bc you got what you paid for (big ugh). Both were bad business models for a self-service dog wash, which is why it's no surprise they're now gone. Astoria Dog Wash is definitely the place to go, providing a needed service in NYC... it's the best excuse to drive over to the Ditmars Steinway area and make food stops as well (also a visit to one of the very best small biz pet shops in the city: The Regal Beagle :-) read more

This place has slowly gone down hill. I brought my dog when they first opened and it was $15.49 for self service dog wash. Sometime in the middle of May they changed it to $19.99 and while I understand that business increase prices, a $4 hike from one day to another is a big bump. I can get past the price but then I went again today and was told by one of the staff members that drying was limited to 15 minutes per dog. Can someone please explain how a 110 lb Labrador is expected to dry in the same amount of time as a 5lb chihuahua? In the summer I could let my dog leave some what wet but now that's it's colder I'm expected to dry my large dog in 15 or less minutes? I think the owners need to rethink their business model before making drastic changes. Love the service, hate the constantly changing rules. read more

Wonderful self-wash. Parking is a pain in the butt, but otherwise everything is great & easy. They have several tubs in different sizes depending on the size of your dog. The tubs are enclosed so your dog won't run out. Water pressure is great. They also provide soap, scent sprays, towels, and milk even a blower with hot and regular air to dry your pup afterwards! Ok so I have a hard time washing my med-large dog at home. She hates baths but I think she prefers them with me than the groomer. Plus $65 groomer baths aren't sustainable. Comes in Astoria Dog wash. Perfect space to wash her, comes with shampoo and the blow dryer actually dries her tight doodle curls. The guy at the front desk was super nice and I appreciated how clean and relaxing the environment was. Also my pup got a whip cream cup at the end so overall I think she would recommend this place. read more
