I will not take my 2 y/o 70lb black lab mix (Prince!) anywhere else other than Astoria Holistic Pet Spa for his grooming needs! The owner is absolutely lovely and my dog loves him and the staff. My dog is shiny as is and when he leaves there he is gleaming! He is treated with so much care and love and the owner always takes his time to chat with us and provide feedback on caring at home etc. I've never seen my dog leave a grooming session so happy and trust me - he hates baths! We really wanted this place to work for us as it is so close to pur home. The first time we had our dog groomed he got an ear infection. We thought- coincodence. The second time he was groomed, another ear infection! We stopped going. We tried again a year later and he was either poked in the eye or has a chemical burn. We are now in Europe and have to get urgent veterinary care! When I called Astoria Holistic Pets to ask what may have happened so that we can get proper care, the owner chose to be very defensive!!! I cannot express how thankful I am that I found Yecid. I rescued my dog Otis 2 months ago and he is extremely aggressive. I have been dreading having to get him groomed because of this. I called last minute on Sunday for a grooming and the owner was able to fit me in for a 6pm slot which i was very appreciative of. I researched the establishment and saw great reviews. Well, after my dog being there two hours i went to to get him and noticed my dogs deminor was changed. He was very skiddish and wanted no parts of being there which is strange because my dog loves new people. The groomer Yacid had told me my dog was very difficult and that he cut my dogs nail a little too much and that my dogs uncontrollable bleeding was worth taking him to the vet because its "abnormal". Yacid when ringing me up was falling asleep and i was hoping he was not the one grooming my dog this whole time. When i got home to inspect my dog he was limping because Yacid cut his nail so short that his nail split and he couldnt even walk on his foot. Not only did this careless nail cutting hurt my dog but it looks like a toddler cut my dogs hair. One side is longer than the other his face was cut unevenly as well as no fluidity in his cut. He was chopped up and looks like a stray dog. I am Extremely disappointed in the service the only positive was that Yacid was extremely understanding of my dissatisfaction and is giving me a refund. But i will never be back. Good luck if you decide to go here. UPDATE: after posting this review Yacid called Me screaming saying he will not refund me the money because I wrote this review about him. He continued to yell at me saying my 10 month old puppy's behavior is to blame but he has received grooming from petco before and was perfectly well and cut fine. So I am sure the only reason he has only positive reviews is because he pays people off when they're dissatisfied. PS. Him finding this post funny is a clear indication he does not care how he hurt my dog and made him look like a stray. We have been exclusively reliant upon Yecid for our dog's grooming for several years now, and have always been satisfied with his excellent and affordable service. He is conscientious, kind, and careful with our dog, Sasha, a 9-year-old miniature schnauzer. Sasha has separation anxiety, and doesn't like being dropped off at Yecid's shop -- but she doesn't really like being dropped off anywhere if we're not going to be there with her! And when we pick her up, she not only looks and smells great but also has a spring in her step. I have seen in another review some complaints/criticisms about Yecid's nail-clipping... I'm no expert, but my understanding is that canine nail care is mediated by how regularly the nails are cut. The longer they are allowed to grow, the more blood vessels will grow within them, which limits how far a groomer can safely cut the nails without causing pain/bleeding. So the moral of the story here is that if short nails are desired, they should be clipped frequently and regularly -- letting them grow long and/or not cutting them on a regular schedule can lead to problems wholly independent of any groomer. read more

Extremely glad that I saw the great reviews here before going to Yecid. You can tell he cares a lot for animals. He not only does rescue but works and accommodated my baby Bella even though it was last minute. Bella went for a wash and cut and he was amazing with her. She usually doesn't like strangers but Yecid has that magic touch with my kitty and let me tell you she is not easy but she was a happy cat and cake home and was her happy self I highly recommend him.
