My dog was bit by another dog at this facility by a dog they knew was aggressive but since the owners claimed to give him CBD he was allowed in the facility?... I have been in search for a new groomer for my two golden retrievers for a few months now after having bad experiences with two other local places in Astoria. I was put at ease after reading all their positive reviews so I gave them a shot. We were scheduled this past Friday for a 9AM and 10AM appt. We got there a little early but Beth didn't mind. She was so nice and attentive. She asked me all the right questions, wrote down all of my instructions and was just so easy to deal with. The whole time my dogs were in their care, I was informed about everything. I even got videos during their grooming session as my male golden retriever is 9 years old and so delicate. I am SO thankful that I found this place! I had even asked for their holiday grooming schedule was looking like before we left. I've been going to NYCPS over than 6 years, and I will continue to go ONLY to them! Over the years I've dealt with many workers at New York City pet services but Beth is the reason I will continue to have trust in NYCPS. Since Beth's first day at New York City pet services she has been extremely helpful and kind towards not only my dog but me. She constantly checks in when she knows I've had a tough week. Beth has shown me that she cares and loves all the animals coming into daycare. Beth goes ABOVE and BEYOND for NYCPS I've come to share this review due to a recent review defaming her name and making her seem like the "bad guy" The lady states in her review she hasn't ever even spoken to her or dealt with Beth so to dedicate a whole review about her seems judgmental and it's sad that people are so quick to judge a person without even knowing them. The play area is much larger than most other day cares which is great since I have a husky that needs to run. By the time we get home my pup is always knocked out from playing all day! I bring my dog, Zoe, here 3-4 days a week! The staff is so warm and welcoming...they always greet me with a smile! From the second I arrive they greet my dog with compassion and love! They take good care of my dog and make sure she's well looked after! At the end they give her a really thorough wipe down to clean her up a bit and we're on our way...the treatment is so good in fact, she NEVER wants to leave! Starting daycare with a new puppy as a first time puppy decision maker is a difficult one. You're trusting a Team of individuals to care for your new family member the same way that you would. I received the recommendation for NYC Pet Services from my dog sitter that I had when my pup Dolce was waiting for vaccinations and could not enroll yet. I then contacted NYC Pet Services with my gazillion questions and Beth answered each one and was understanding as she is a pet owner herself. She set me up with a consultation for Dolce first (which most daycare places do not require) to make sure he would acclimate and suggested how to make daycare as affordable as possible for me with the daycare packages since I am unfortunately in the office 5 days a week. Juan gave Dolce his consultation session and although he passed with flyer colors, him and the Team helped Dolce get used to being around so many other doggos too. Beth has been great with giving me updates on how Dolce is behaving during the day as I am not always privy of his behaviors, we agree upon commands to use with him so everyone is on the same page, and since Dolce is still a pup and needs to be fed 3x a day, they help with that as well. This is even before all of the amazing photos Beth and the staff send. I could not be happier that Dolce found a place he feels comfortable to be while his dog mom works to pay for his care. I am grateful for a space so close to me that I can trust with my most important family member. Pro tip, puppies will inevitably get a little funky smelling/dirty from daycare, it comes with the territory. Carrying dog wipes and some doggy dry shampoo goes a long way! ALSO they have Jenn the groomer in the house, who also was able to do a face trim when it was 100% needed and Dolce's first full groomer appointment. Will need to review her next :) read more

This place is amazing. I bring my dog Freddie here for boarding when going away on vacation or away fir the weekend. The staff here is so friendly & great with the dogs. Freddie lives going there to play with all the dogs. They text pics throughout the day of Freddie playing & having fun. I feel very safe leaving my sweet Freddie in their hands. I have a camera and out of that 60% attendance rate, half of the time he will be there staring at the ceiling instead of petting your cat. This guy will literally scoop up one poop out of the box and leave. He will not throw the cat poop in the trash. He will leave the poop bag open on top of your trash can. This guy is a losers loser because i'm asking how hard is it to show up for 30 minutes to pet a cat. I would highly suggest you don't use this service and if you're forced to use this service refuse service from Juan, "the a$$hole". He'll also enter your home with some type of attitude and be slamming cat bowls for some reason or another ( I have a camera and witnessed this). Throughout the weekend, I would get pictures of my golden doodle showing me his enjoyable time during his stay. The most amazing team and staff! Daycare & Boarding Review - We were looking for a doggy daycare to board our one year old pup and unlike most places, they didn't require a day of daycare which I appreciated. We went in for a trial where our girl got to meet the staff and other doggies. We did do a few days of daycare prior to boarding just to get her ready. The offer both half and full day service. We boarded our girl for the week, and the team was so helpful in getting everything prepped prior and sharing all the activities she'd be taking part in. They do have a camera available for an extra fee each month, but you honestly don't even need it. Beth, Laura and Juan were sending updates on the regular - morning, afternoon, and before bed. I felt extremely comfortable leaving her for the week and the team is so communicative helping with all my questions upfront and even while we were gone. I also loved that they texted, just makes life easier. NYC Pet Services space is also much bigger than a few other daycares we tried and I didn't feel like it was packed with dogs each day, it just felt & seemed like the right amount. I used to get so anxious whenever we had to drop him off in daycare - until I stumbled upon NYCPS! All the staff have been so nice and sweet. I see the way they interact with my puppy and I can tell that he's in good hands. Juan plays with my puppy as if he's his own, Laura gives him the best baths and Beth goes above and beyond in answering all my questions and accommodating my requests. We needed boarding services for our puppy and after visiting a few places, we decided on NYC Pet Services and we are so glad we did! They sent us pictures and videos of our pup every day and kept us informed on how she was doing. They took such a good care of her and she was so happy during her stay here. We took her here for daycare a couple of times before boarding so she could familiarize herself with the environment and the staff, but they do not require that you purchase any daycare packages as a pre-requisite for boarding, which is great. We also had our pup groomed here recently and they did such a great job and the haircut was exactly what we asked for. We've continued to take our puppy to NYC Pet Services even though it's out of the way for us for several reasons: in addition to having earlier opening hours that we need, they also take the dogs out for walks during the day. We were having a hard time with other places where we tried interfering with potty training, and he would also come back filthy at the end of the day. At NYC Pet Services, they always give him a nice rinse when we pick him up if he's messy from a long day of play! This was the first daycare we looked at and we have no complaints. Yogi started at 3 months old and is now 5 months old. He goes 4 times a week for half days and he runs there every day once we are on the same block. He absolutely loves Beth, Laura, and Juan. They are his day care family. They are all very friendly and very tentative to Yogi. We watch on the camera and Olga is very fast with cleaning up after all the dogs. I have been bringing her to NYC Pet Services since January 2021, after someone did the same for me by recommending them on an early morning walk. They require proof of vaccinations, your pup cannot attend if they are not up to date. Keeping all the amazing pups and dogs safe! 2. Temperament screening -- all dogs are screened before being accepted into daycare. (Peace of mind!!) 3. Feedings, relief walks-- whatever you want for your pup! *Update* Since my first review of NYC Pet Services, the service and continued inexpensive prices has kept me coming back to this welcoming and friendly, all-in-one pet stop. I don't go to any other place. NYC Pet Services offers the best boarding in Astoria, hands down. As of May, 2019, my 12lb dog's cost for an overnight is $45 and because the animals are not caged at night like other Manhattan locations, it makes me feel like someone is always watching out for their well-being. And come on, a dog slumber party?!? What could be better? My pet, Jackson, is a 50lb dog in a 12lb dog's body and because of that, gets along with all types and sizes at NYC Pet Services, not to mention the staff. They recognized that right away and while they did not automatically shove him in one of two areas for the dogs to be held (smaller dogs in the front, larger dogs in the back), they made sure that when he entered either one, he wasn't overwhelmed and attacked by the others. And two of the best perks is 1) the occasional picture of Jackson texted to me of him either playing or curiously eyeing the camera and 2) a fresh bath before I pick him up. They make sure to know when I am coming to get Jackson so when he is picked up, he has a clean scent to him. Think about it, you wouldn't want other dog smells in your apartment so a bath before they come home: priceless. It is said all the time, but bottom line, this is the best place to have your pet taken care of if you are traveling or simply need a break for a night or two. Amazing service!! I took my dogs here very last minute. I called in the morning to inquire about daycare service for my 1-year-old Siberian Husky, Thor, and my 5-month-old Cockapoo, Loki. The receptionist was super accommodating over the phone and allowed me to simply email over their information and she had us scheduled to come in by the afternoon. I was so delighted to see my dogs get excited upon walking in and how attentive the staff was. A girl named Beth helped me and within an hour I was receiving updates and the cutest pics of my fur babies. I was even more delighted when Beth told me that Loki had gotten dirty and she was nice enough to give him a bath, free of charge. My Yorkie was bit by another dog at this daycare. She has a bruised left eye, scratches on the left of her face, and three stitches on her head from the laceration. I understand accidents happen, and the dogs are unpredictable. But, the staff and owner of this business are unprofessional and incapable of handling situations like this. They did not follow any of my instructions or basic emergency protocols, so my dog waited outside in the sun and with no water until I arrived (only to find out that the vet was not available for hours- they did not care to call the daycare or check-in when they arrived.) The staff applied unknown glue/powder in the injured area, which caused an extra cut and stitch to remove the glue/powder. The staff and owner continuously blamed my dog for what happened: "she was barking at a medium-sized dog's face...she kept going back to him" and "she, as we all know, likes to bark in all the pup's faces". The owner continued to emphasize my dog's barking and made me feel like this is my dog's fault for what happened. I understand my dog barks, but no customer wants to hear that what happened is because "she started it". Moreover, when I reached out to the owner after a few days (because she did not care to follow up with me), she made me feel wrong for being upset. The owner used her past experience of when a similar situation happened with her dog, she understood, or how she takes her child to a park and accidents happen. The owner showed no responsibility or professionalism when the accident happened to now. They might appear to be "friendly" and "loving", but when accidents happen, the business is clearly incapable of handling such situations. read more

Last week we called to see if they would have availability to board our rescue pit so we could go away for a few days. We requested a Monday -Thursday boarding in one of their more expensive private rooms they offer because he doesn't like other dogs in his personal space. We spoke to the owner Samantha and she said that they did have availability but would just have to meet our dog to see how reactive he is when walking by other dogs. We said sure and the earliest availability she had was for the following Thursday, which was a long wait considering we called on a Wednesday, but we agreed anyway. When it came time for our appointment, Samantha wasn't even there and her assistant had to call her to tell her that her appointment was there. While waiting, our dog was showing no signs of aggression because there were no dogs in the area. In fact he was crying because he hates car rides. When the phone was passed to us, all Sam could tell us was that she couldn't take our dog because he was too aggressive. Mind you, she is not in the building and she has NOT MET THE DOG. All she said was according to what her assistant said, he's too aggressive. This place is highly unprofessional if you, as the owner, forget or neglect the fact that you made an appointment to meet a possible client and then turn them away without actually meeting them, ultimately wasting their time. (Especially because we had to take hours off from work). Their website says they DO NOT breed discriminate which is ultimately a lie because I'm sure the ONLY reason they turned us away is because my dog is a pit. Even though once you actually MEET him, he is the happiest and sweetest people loving dog ever. I'm actually happy we don't get to experience this business because if the owner and staff neglect to do their job properly when meeting a dog, I can only assume how they treat the dogs that they do get. After coming to NYC pet services for a few months with my 10 month old pit, I can honestly give a 5 star rating. I love when I come in the ladies know his name and are excited to see him, as is Bruno when he comes in. I feel like he's in good hands and gets all of his crazy energy out playing with the other dogs all day. I think the cost is a great deal considering how long they are open. I've also boarded Bruno there for one night while on a business trip, and they were very accommodating with his non-kibble diet, which some places aren't.
