I am the proud owner of 2 sassy chihuahua mix rescues. They are the sweetest dogs at home, but they are also very territorial, a little snappy, and they don't like most men. I swear that they have never actually bit anyone, but they want everyone to believe that they will. I explained this to Matt, who assured me that they deal with this sort of stuff on the regular. I firmly requested a female walker who must love chihuahuas, and I didn't want a backup or substitute walker. During the meet and greet with Vanessa that went smoothly, Miss Bossypants (my chihuahua-pug) tried to bark at her. Vanessa told her "you don't scare me", and that was it and she never did it again. They were immediately smitten with her, and they get so excited for their walks! My chiweenie even gives her kisses. It brightens my day to know that my dogs are so happy. We have been clients of Matthew for about two years. Our little cat's name is Luna and she absolutely loves Matthew. We have moved quite a bit and been through several cat sitters. When we were away from our home, Luna always took our going away hard, despite having very good cat sitters. We would come back and she would be upset and clingy, not wanting to eat treats like she normally does. That is not the case with Matthew. Luna would come and greet us at the door when we come back as if we were never away. The longest amount of time we have left Luna has been with Matthew watching her. The individualized attention one receives from the McCarren Bark staff is impressive. Before our first walk, Matt and his team member met both of my dogs so they could get to know their quirks, preferences, and get a good sense of their routine. Matt and his team are so willing to go the extra mile for your pets. They help maintain routines, send daily updates on how my pups are doing, and really know me and my pets inside and out. It's amazing how quickly the folks become like family. There have been many times when Matt has figured out last minute pet sits for my pups, and has rallied his team to provide overnight care. I don't know how Matt juggles it all while remaining so calm, helpful, and strategic. I know running a business can't be easy, and yet--Matt never breaks a sweat. Matt and his team are super-responsive (I always hear back from them within 24 hours), flexible, their sitters are attentive, caring and incredibly detail-oriented. They're also consistent- I've had other pet sitters who were great on the first few visits, and then "slacked off" with their attention and responsiveness. McCarren Bark's sitters are animal lovers who really understand their business and their clientele (human and animal!). Love!! I used them last year quite a bit when I was working really long hours at my job. They are the only dog service I could find that would come walk my pup in the evening hours! They would even give her dinner for me! Our walker, Emma, was the best. She sent us cute text updates with pictures after every walk to let us know she came. The level of communication from McCarren Bark is far superior - my dog is walked 4-5 times a week and after each walk, I get a friendly, detailed text message about his walk along with a picture of him.
