We've had our dog Dandy use Not The Rug since he was a puppy. With walks, the app they use shows you the routes they go on, plus they'll give you an update as to what happened on each walk. Dandy not only loves the social aspect of seeing his walker and the dogs, but the exercise tuckers him out so if we're not home he's happy to nap in his crate upon returning. Had Dandy been less social, Not The Rug would work to make sure he still had a great experience. They get to know you and your dog to ensure that walks are safe and fun, regardless of temperament or additional needs. I can't say enough good things about Not The Rug!

Vanessa has been dog walking and pet sitting our pups Oliver and Moxie for several years now and I don't know what we would do without her. When we adopted Oliver as a puppy from a kill shelter in Tennessee, it was Vanessa who taught him how to walk the noisy NYC streets. He is now a great city walker thanks to her. He is an anxious boy but he loves and trusts Vanessa and gets so happy to see her. She is also great with our other pup Moxie who also loves and snuggles up to Vanessa whenever she is here. We won't book any travel plans without booking Vanessa first. Vanessa and her staff at Happy Pups are reliable, caring, conscientious, and attentive to our pups' needs. When we return home from a long trip, we find our pups happy, healthy, and well cared for thanks to Vanessa and Happy Pups. This review is long overdue, but I found this business through Yelp and I want to pay it forward so someone else can find them and trust them with their animals' pet sitting and dog walking needs. I was about 10 minutes late to my dog's appointment after driving 45 minutes and paying nearly $100 for an Uber. I even called earlier in the morning asking about rescheduling options, but when I arrived and explained the situation, they refused to take my dog at all. I completely understand that businesses run on schedules, but there was absolutely no flexibility or effort to work with me, even though I was requesting a simple bath and trim and have been a loyal customer for years. I asked politely and explained the situation, but they wouldn't accommodate me in any way. After being a repeat customer for so long, I expected at least some willingness to help or find a solution. Unfortunately, the experience felt very dismissive and unappreciative of long-time customers.

Meet and greet was easy, and the dog walker they assigned us (Hi Brad!) was so considerate. Henry is particular (i.e. spoiled), and was having a hard time adjusting to the city since the move from suburbia. Brad would carry him to a place he can pee, dry him off if it rained, and spend some cuddle time indoors if the walk outside was short. Online scheduling and payment is super easy, and they are very quick to respond to last minute requests. Nothing but great things to say, which is a big deal since I'm a pretty picky dog momma!
