I literally just walked into the first store that had the word "baklava" in the window. Staff were super friendly and gave me a sample of their walnut baklava. That's how I ended up spending $29 here. I am a sucker for walnut baklava. I cannot even tell you how much I like it more than the standard pistachio baklava. Hubby and I came across this store when we were walking around in this area after an early dinner. I was craving dessert. When you walk into the store, left and right sides of the store, there are tables attacked with desserts and treats. There are 2 refrigerators with cold drinks. Hubby got himself a lemon and ginger soda which was quite refreshing and it was only $2. How cool is that! The guy behind the counter let us try a piece of baklava with walnuts each which was good. However, I thought $8 for 4 pieces was a bit much. I doubt end up buying any. The ambiance was nice. They also had Arabic ice cream. I was so happy to see Brooklyn Baklava again, as I last remember seeing them on 4th Ave in Boreum Hill. I remember having a really positive experience there, and I am happy to report that the same level of service and hospitality is still present. I admit I have never had baklava here, but this place gets 5 stars for their savory pies! So many days coming home from work I'd drop by and grab a spinach or lamb pie as a treat. They are HUGE and so filling, and at around $6, they were a cheap, quick meal. Part of me is sad they moved locations further away from my train stop, but glad that they are still going strong. I'm very happy that this has been my stable dessert place for the past couple of years. It is sooo good that I can't find a better word as i'm typically not a dessert person. I always head to the counter and point at the pieces I like to have and it's by weight, so you have lot of flexibility on how much you want to have on your end, I have to say any pieces are good, some are more heavier than others, nowadays i like the smaller pieces. every time I had it, i wanted more, and it's always fresh, nutty and delicious! Assorted Baklava & Spanakopita Triangles. OKAY. The Baklava was GOOD served 2 ways with Walnuts and Pistachios. The 3rd piece in this assortment seemed to be a Mini Revani or something similar. This tasted just fine. Now for the BAD news. The Spanakopita Triangles taste HORRIBLE. I've only had LEBANESE Spanakopita a handful of times and its always tastes BAD. The emphasis always seems to on the Spinach where it seems like I'm tasting nothing but the Leaf itself. This was the perfect spot to get dessert before a show at Barclays Center. There's no seating, so you'll have to walk with it but it's worth it. Gentleman working the counter was nice, he took the time to explain the items. I'm a sucker for baklava and pistachio, so I got the pistachio baklava. It was excellent, crispy and nicely filled, not too sweet but just right. They also had a paper wrapped pastry with pistachio in it that was also tender and delicious. I added a couple of Turkish delight candies for later. I was a bit disappointed that the kunefe is only available on weekends but it gives me reason to stop in again. The store was much smaller than I expected and we initially thought from the video that there was some seating but unfortunately there wasn't. The woman who served us kind of stood there looking at us as we stood there confused how to order. We asked her for a menu to which she said there wasn't one. We looked around for awhile before she offered us a sample of baklava. We ended up getting knafeh which we were disappointed was cold, along with some chocolate dipped dates. Brooklyn Baklava is one of my most visited dessert spot. Baklava is a mid eastern pastry that is sweet; some might say, too sweet. I love it though, it's flakey on the outside and chewy on the inside and bottom. The baklava has nuts inside. The original is the walnut and pistachio, but this spot has all! My favorite is the cashew, it very different and love the sweet syrup that it is soaked in. The shop smells so good when you walk inside. Now I've tried a lot of Middle Eastern bakery's and I generally love them-- however one of my Middle Eastern friends said that this is the most authentic and best bakery that I could ever come across and he was totally right. Food: they offer a variety of sweets but they also have savory pies which I absolutely fell in love with. They are baked fresh and the dough is super buttery and soft and it's filled with a variety of fillings that you can get which consist of beef, chicken, feta cheese, spinach and more. For the dessert I opted for the pistachio baklava, knafeh and Turkish delight. It was also delicious but what stood out to me was that the nuts were super fresh and had a stronger taste than other baklava I've tried because they don't hold back on the filling here! This is also hands down the best knafeh I've come across. Drinks: I wasn't able to try any of the drinks but I did see a espresso machine and I believe they also have tea. I bought a feta pie, spinach pie, and lamb pie because I love middle eastern pies but these went ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations. Feta: cheesy greatness. Filling had feta and onions, which made it sweet cheesy but also had a little sharp kick to it Spinach: a classic, spinach and onion filling, light and makes me feel like I'm being healthy lol Lamb: IF YOU LIKE LAMB YOU WILL LOVE THIS. I was offered a sample of either a Turkish delight or a baklava of various types. I opted for a piece of baklava, which was sublime. The taste of rosewater mixed with honey and pistachio was unexpected and pungent, without being overpowering. The texture was light and crispy. When done well, as here, one small piece is all that's needed to satisfy a sweet tooth. I bought the spinach pie ($3.75 pre-tax), which was delicious with a slight tartness I hadn't anticipated. One of the best baklavas I've had! Got two in a sample pack from a local promotion and was absolutely shocked by how good these were. The phyllo was nice and crispy, even a few days later. Both were drizzled with just enough syrup to give them the extra boost of sweetness. I loved the textural contrast between the phyllo and the chopped nuts. The chopped nuts layer was also super thick, which I appreciated as some baklavas I've had in the past tasted like just soaked phyllo dough with a thin layer of chopped nuts. I feel like this store space is haunted, because it's been three different businesses in three years. The latest is Brooklyn Baklava, and so far, it's my favorite of the bunch. Walk in, and you'll immediately be handed a free sample. And you can watch the staff (seems to only be women whenever I've walked by) making fresh baklava behind the counter. You pay for quality, however. A box of 12 assorted baklava was $15 (plus tax if you pay with card), but makes a good gift. The assorted came with pistachio, walnut, and cashew. Pistachio and walnut were my favorites. They've also recently started serving coffee as well! read more

I bought the walnut and cashew, both were delicious--flaky and fresh and moist inside. Prices are shockingly reasonable. Other options (e.g., almond cake) looked tasty as well. They have a generous fridge with water and soda, but I hope they add coffee/espresso--nothing goes better with baklava to me, and would be the perfect finishing touch for this spot. What a welcome development/treat just a half-block from the Atlantic Avenue train exit on 4th Ave--if this was my regular commute, this would be problematic for my waistline. When my husband and I found out that was a baklava place in our neighborhood, we were very excited. Baklava is absolutely one of our favorite desserts, and we are always searching for new places to buy it. My husband spent $40 on a tray of baklava and some other dessert that looked like it had cream cheese frosting in the middle. That dessert came with some kind of clear "sauce" to pour on it before eating. It looked like it could've been sugar water or something equally as uninteresting. First, we tried the thing with the cream cheese, and I took one bite and put the rest of it down. My husband did something similar. So I was hoping that the baklava would make up for it, but it was truly the worst I ever had. I am not saying this to be mean and I am not exaggerating. This was the first time in my entire life that I took a bite of baklava and threw the rest away. The phyllo was not crispy as it usually is, and the taste of the baklava was nothing like any baklava I have ever had. Not horrible, just not good. We decided that this was nothing we wanted to waste calories on so sadly we threw almost $40 worth of baklava and whatever the other dessert was away. A couple weeks back, while driving I noticed this place but was closed at the time (7AM). I decided to try their mixed baklava with was amazing. I asked if the have Kunefe and they said yes but I needed to call at least 24 hours in advance for this. When I picked up the Kunefe, Mohammed informed me how to heat it up and was extremely friendly. Unfortunately the Kunefe was at room temperature as I t was made the earlier. Unlike Some places that make it on the spot. However this was not a big deal because heating it up was not a issue. Unlike The Turkish version this is not overly sweet, however they give you as much syrup on the side as you need for me one 12 oz cup was more than enough. They also make delicious Lamb, Spinach, feta ETC pies. Plus in today's covid hoax times they do discriminate against vaccinated or not, masked or not like some other Brooklyn businesses.
