Wasn't impressed this time around:( it was the last weekend of coast guard fest so I'm thinking maybe they had more visitors than usual or something. They had minimal bagel choices at noon (late in the day for a bagel so I understood)... but after paying they had to come ask my friend to pick another bagel type because somehow they sold out before they could make her order). We ordered in shop instead of drive through. Bagel was barely toasted. I know they can do better

I hadn't been to the beach in probably three years, so to commemorate the end of my birthday week in August (#leoseason), I decided I wanted to have breakfast at the beach. I checked on Yelp to find a spot that was near the lakeshore and open at that time and found Brooklyn Bagels. I'd never heard of it, but they had online ordering and a breakfast burrito that looked tasty. I placed my order while Nate drove us towards Grand Haven. I picked the breakfast burrito and was given a lot of options for customizing - you can add all sorts of veggies, meats, cheeses, and spreads. I opted for egg, sausage, black olives, tomatoes, cheese, and jalapeno cheddar cream cheese on a spinach tortilla. I also added a coconut milk chai latte. Online ordering was easy and they said it would be ready in about 20 minutes, which was perfect. When we arrived, there were a few cars in the drive through but I just ran in to grab my order. There were a couple of employees busy making coffees so I waited for a bit until I saw an "online ordering pickup" sign near a trash - but I didn't see my order. A second later I was greeted by an employee who I told I had an online order, which she went and grabbed right away. When I was leaving, I heard another person say, "We should be putting those over here" so I think they were just getting into their groove since I was the first online order that morning. The interior was very clean, super bright, and freezing cold! It felt good to me since it was already pretty humid out, but be aware if you're dining in and are sensitive to cold. We dug in to the burrito when we got to the beach and it was pretty tasty, but it was unfortunately missing the jalapeno cheddar cream cheese, which was a huge bummer because we were both looking forward to trying it. The burrito was still good, but definitely would check next time to make sure it was there before leaving. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, and all the other ingredients were fresh. The tortilla was soft and not stale. The coconut milk chai latte was smooth and creamy - I loved the light coconut flavor with the spices of the chai. I'd definitely get that again. I noticed that there is a large butterfly garden near the parking lot, which I thought was really unique and special. I'd come here again.

Bacon, egg and cheese on an Asiago bagel. Added plain cream cheese.

Great bagel selection and delicious iced coffee. The eggs were fresh and bacon thick cut. The girls working we're friendly and the food was ready quick. We went on a Sunday morning and there were only a few people eating inside.

Dirty chai was just ok but too sweet and tasted like store bought mix. Very nice people and enjoyed the drive thru convenience.

Met up with a friend for brunch at Morning Star recently. It was my first time visiting and I was…read moreexcited since breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal to order out! There was a bit of a wait but they have a little area to sit and browse the menu. The place is cozy and homey, a bit crowded but not too bad. Our server was really helpful and kind. I ordered a coffee, and they have alcoholic options if you'd like a bloody mary, spiked coffee, mimosa, etc. I liked that they brought me my own little carafe for the table. We ordered a blueberry pancake for the table, and I got the tree hugger (zucchini, yellow squash, tomato, mushroom, baby spinach, black beans, and cheese, served over diced redskin potatoes. I also added eggs. The pancake was fluffy and sweet, and very large which was great for us to split. I really wanted some vegetables so I was very happy with the tree hugger. It was cheesy and warm, and all the veggies were delicious. I added some hot sauce which made it perfect! My friend got the breakfast burrito which looked really good. I'm glad I got to try this spot and would come back! They do have a lunch menu during the week as well (it said lunch items are limited on weekends).

This is a local favorite. But if you're not local, let me give you a review…read more I have mixed feelings about this place. First off let me point out that there is no private parking lot for this place. This is no big deal if you're from a bigger city like GR, Chi or NYC. But if you're from a smaller town like Muskegon, Coopersville or Fremont where every business has their own private lot this might be a major inconvenience to you. park across the street or on the street if you can find a spot. I was patronizing MSC on a very cold day. This old location has no air lock on the front door, so everytime it opens to let customers exit or enter....the cold air rushes in. Keep that in mind when choosing your table. The restaurant has a warehouse feel to it, similar to the Blue Porch on Beacon Blvd. If you like that style....great. If not you have to deal with acoustics, and a cold drafty feeling, especially in the Winter. Food was actually in line with other restaurants in town unless you want to start getting fancy with the "specials." Believe me, those specials are very popular. Especially the waffle/pancake dishes that are similar to a super sweet dessert at 2000 calories. The last time I was there, the server was friendly, but because of the layout of the dining room, they have a hard time keeping an eye on the tables. So getting a coffee refill or a request for something becomes a waiting game. Overall the food is presented very well and is tasty.

It's not often I give out five star reviews, but this place deserves it…read more First off, it's not a fancy place, it's not even very big, probably just 8 booths, a few tables and a big table for groups, although I'm sure that bigger table could be broken up for smaller parties. There's counter seating too. The day I was there, it was just one server. She did it all. Brought beverages, took orders, and chatting with the regular customers. She seemed to play around with a computer, presumably to fill orders. It didn't seem very efficient but I image it keeps better track for inventory purposes. I didn't see it on the "specials" board, so I asked about a breakfast special and she said it was a ham & cheese omelet and included coffee. So I ordered that, it came also with toast of choice. Food came quickly, coffee cup was kept filled and the breakfast was the right portion and delicious. Now in the past I've said I didn't care for their omelets, but I've changed my mind. Perhaps they make them differently than before. Bottom line, Idle Hour is not trying to be something they're not (unlike Pine Street Cafe), so if you're looking for a quick breakfast that won't break the bank, this is the place. BTW the meal was $7.50 +tax & tip. Be warned there is an upcharge if you don't pay cash.

When I arrived the place only had two tables occupied, one customer each. I figured the snow was keeping people home that morning. I grabbed an empty booth and the server saw me asked for a drink order, brought it back promptly along with ice water and menu. I didn't really look at the menu because when you walk in they have a board displaying todays special. it was a corn beef omelet. Sounded good to me. There were two servers that day and I overhead them complaining how slow it was that morning. One of them was checking her phone constantly, they kept going in and out of the kitchen. Now I'm sitting here a good ten minutes with no server coming to take my order, while in the mean time the servers are looking out the window at the snow! I guess I could have said something but I didn't. 14 minutes later the server shows up and I say to her: "I thought you forgot about me." She replies: "actually I did." Well at least she is honest. I ordered the corn beef omelet, she asks what type of potato I'd like. I didn't realize they come with potatoes, so I tell her home-style. Food shows up about 6 minutes later, and there are no potatoes! Then I realized they put them inside the omelet instead of on the side. The corn beef was a bit dry, the omelet was not fluffy, but overall except for the lack of service, it was okay.

This restaurant has been around since as long as I can remember…read more My grandparents went here, my parents took us here. It was always a nice little diner. Similar to Idle Hour in Spring Lake and Rendezvous in Grand Haven. Unfortunately the latter have since shut down. Pine Street underwent new ownership a few years ago, and it really hasn't been the same since. They updated the menu with what seems to be Southwest Style food, even though this place is far from being a Tex-Mex eatery. They also boast a liquor license, I guess this is for the Bloody Mary crowd? They closed for remodeling in January, but reopened. I went there after they opened to see the improvements. To me all it looks like they did was tear out the carpeting, put in laminante and painted the walls. The same old tables remain as do the uncomfortable counter stools. No art work on the walls yet. I ordered a country breakfast. ($13), 2 small eggs, ham, American fries. What's interesting is the American Fries were basically deep fried chunks of potatoes. Different than what other restaurants around this area call AF. Also other restaurants ask if you want onions in the potatoes, here they don't since they are basically similar to French fries. Sourdough toast cost me an extra dollar. Coffee was $2.75. So the meal was: Country Breakfast: $13 Toast: $1 Coffee: $2.75 Tax $1.01 Credit card surcharge: 50¢ Total: $18.25 Plus tip: $3.50 Almost $22 for a basic breakfast for one. Had I brought my GF and parents it would be just shy of $90 for a breakfast for 4. Service was good.
