I was recommended to Broadway Optix by a friend. Unfortunately, after my first phone conversation with the representative who answered, I've come to the conclusion this location is not an ideal place for my business. The purpose of my call was to get a quote for tightening the end pieces on my Ray Ban sunglasses. The first question I was asked was, "Did you purchase your glasses from us?" And upon answering with a no, I was told that I cannot get my glasses assisted at the store because I didn't purchase it from their store. The company advertises as an authorized Ray-Ban dealer. On the Ray-Ban website, they come up as well. And with this detail, I figured I can take my glasses to the store to fix and pay for it out of my pocket. Unfortunately, my service was refused. Down the road on Sunrise Highway, Lenscrafters told me to come in, they looked at my sunglasses and tightened it. They didn't charge, but out of respect for their work, I left a tip. Unfortunately, Broadway Optix is a store for customers who only shop with them. If you haven't purchased glasses from them, you'll be denied service. As long as their in the community, I'll live with this experience. But due to the competition around for buying glasses, this company will not be my top choice. read more

Dr. Horn reopen the office as of Monday June 1, 2020. However, due to Covid-19, you must call ahead of time to schedule an appointment. It was a good thing my wife called the office last week. We were able to get our appointments in for this past week. They are also practicing EXCELLENT sanitary precautions in compliant with guidelines for safety during the Pandemic. I have been going to Dr. Horn since he started out on Dutch Broadway in Elmont. He is professional, friendly and you get a sense that he is in the profession to help people. Unlike the others, most of whom are "CORPORATE-oriented offices". When you go to his office, there is a true sense of the small business, middle-class family feel to it. I will never forget how he saved my dad many, many years ago when he was able to diagnose what was wrong with my dad's eyesight. Despite moving to Queens from Valley Stream back in 2014, I have absolutely no problem driving the extra miles to see him, because he goes the extra miles. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE I called in regards to getting contacts and provided my insurance in which the lady at the front desk told me they accept my insurance but contacts weren't covered. I would have to pay $100-120 for my contact exam IN ADDITION TO my contacts. Spoke to my insurance company and low and behold both my contact exam/fitting and various contacts are covered. Called Broadway Optix back to tell the receptionist and she proceeded to tell me my insurance company doesn't know what they're talking about. I had my insurance company call the woman while I was on hold and explain to her thinking maybe I failed to express it correctly. My representative came back after 15 minutes of explaining to this impossible woman that my contacts are in fact covered, even the representative was upset. The representative told me to call the company back while at the establishment to ensure I got my contacts. I call Broadway Optix back, tell the woman my name again and ask to move forward with the appointment then this woman had the nerve to tell me my insurance company didn't explain it to me correctly. She said "Dr. Horn will prescribe to you whatever contacts he thinks are best, even ifthey're not covered by your insurance." IMPLYING THAT THEY WILL DELIBERATELY PRESCRIBE CONTACTS TO YOU NOT COVERED BY YOUR PLAN TO FOOT YOU WITH THE BILL OF NOT ONLY THE CONTACTS BUT YOUR EXAM AS WELL! I went to Dr. Horn specifically before when I was covered by better insurance and was treated far better. Dr. Horn is a great man, but for the love of god, fire your receptionist. They have the worst follow-up. They were supposed to call to tell me if my contacts would be ready by week's end; they didn't. Instead, I had to keep on them until my contacts arrived--a week later. A reasonable person would apologize for the delay; the dim trio (owner, assistant, part-time student) I encountered only excuses. I went to them, thinking I was helping out my local merchant/economy. What I was was disappointed. Go to Lens Crafters, Costco or a mall kiosk instead. read more

I went in to this office earlier in the year for a regular eye exam and glasses. They told me I needed to change the prescription on one of my eyes and I told them I did not believe that was accurate as I still saw well with my glasses. The lady at the desk and dr became very rude and aggressive. She asked me "why did you come here then" if I was not going to accept what the dr found. I simply stated for a route eye exam. They then became super friendly when they realized I was not going to engage in their back and forth and they were coming off poorly to their other visiting customers. Also most likely wanting a sale, stating if I have any issues I can just come back to their office and they would take care of it. So I changed the prescription although reluctant. Also purchasing two pairs of glasses spending over $600 at this store. A couple months had passed and I ended up in an urgent care as my left eye was really bothering me but they stated there was no infection, I was also having dizzy spells and saw my pcp who ran multiple test and found nothing advising me to check my eyes, ears and throat. I went back to the same eye dr as I then remembered my prescription did change slightly to see if maybe that was the cause. When I got to the office they stated that my insurance only did once a year exams, I told them I was having a problem and they asked what my medical insurance was. The lady then stated they don't accept that. I reminded them of the situation of the change of prescription and asked which eye was changed and they pointed out the left which is indeed the one that is bothering me. I also reminded them that they stated I should come back if there were any issues and she stated "oh no that's like for two months". This place is beyond ridiculous I should have walked away when they became aggressive about me not agreeing with the doctor. Don't waste your time here there are places with more professionalism. I simply walked away because I have no need to waste my time there. They really should be ashamed of themselves. read more

The doctor is okay. Didn't have a horrible experience with him performing an eye exam. I do have to say though, that they are EXTREMELY expensive. If you have the money to spend here, and want to, then you can. I also had a relative come here and get a prescription that was way too strong. She went back today to tell them about it. I would think that a good place would give their customer another eye exam to check again, but I guess they don't. The doctor told her she had to get used to it, but after two weeks, if you still can't probably see out of it that well and it's uncomfortable, then I think it's the incorrect prescription. Disappointed that she experienced that service. My advice would be to just have them write your prescription for you and get your glasses/contacts somewhere cheaper. It's pretty ridiculous to pay over $400 for glasses. And that includes the insurance covering it.... read more

I have been wearing eyeglasses since I was 7 years old so I take the process of having my eyes examined and then purchasing eyeglasses very seriously. I found the staff to be welcoming, professional and very nice. They have a amazing selection of eyeglass frames and gave me all the time I needed in order to make my final selection ( three visits to make up my mind!) Dr. Horn was a pleasure to deal with. He saw my mother and was great but on the other hand the front desk "lady" was a nightmare from the second we dealt with her. She was very disrespectful and seem to always give my family and I a problem. She refused to see my parents for eye exams and making appointments were a hassle. It was sort of like she looked down upon us. I would never go back because it's impossible to deal with a horrible person like that. I just wish Dr. Horn would've been available to speak to and deal with us personally and put that thing in her place. read more

Love Dr. Horn! He is very warm and very knowledgeable. When I bring my kids to him, he doesn't mind when I ask him something about myself. Always very patient. Dr. Horn is the BEST! My husband has a unique situation with his eyeglass needs and the range in which he works. No one has been able to measure his prescription (either optometrist or ophthalmologist) accurately. Dr. Horn got it the first try! He is amazing with his patients. Ellen is also great. She has an amazing sense of what frames look, fit and function properly. My daughters first pair of glasses that Ellen picked were perfect!
