Pesto Alfredo Chicken pizza
Sandra H.

My kids living in Chico said this place was a must. So we came. And without a doubt one of the best. The bread is all made, the focaccia or the pizza their sandwiches including the Thai peanut sandwich was absolutely "fire". (Millennial statement). But I concur. A must is a true statement. Come here. !

A full blta, looks way bigger in the photo than it was in real life. Ate the whole sando in less than ten minutes and was still hungry.
O S.

Very disappointed. I have been coming here on and off for years and years, they have always been a tiny bit pricey, but their portions have always been good. Today I paid $22 for this "full" BLTA with a side of pasta salad. When I got it, I was shocked how tiny the sandwich was, how burnt and hard the bacon was and the toast on the bottom of the bread...absolutely pathetic, honestly no flavor, no care went into this at all. For paying over $20 for a sandwich I would expect some freshly fried bacon and a little more love put into my food. This is crazy how little bacon and poor quality this was. However, the pasta salad still remains my favorite. I don't know if I would come back at this point.

Hot Pastrami Sandwich

We had garden salad and cheese bread, and 1 Thai chicken sandwich, and Pastrami on Rye and I had a Rubin which was excellent. Our waitress was very good her name is Kailani. It was upstairs and very nice.

NY Pastrami- Reuben Style
TK N.

We ordered the Chicken Pesto and the NY Pastrami- Reuben style sandwiches on Focaccia bread and both were absolutely delicious. We had the side salad that was included though we wish we had maybe a chip option instead. The restaurant is located up stairs and has local art for sale, as the decor, against the beautiful brick walls. Our server was Goose and he was excellent!!

An absolute gem in Chico. Third dinner in Chico and was hands down the best!…read more They stars of the evening was the cocktail list and the service. Food was also very good but didn't stand out quite as much. We came in on a Tuesday night in large part because Crush was closed which was our first choice for the third dinner in Chico. We had already eaten as 5th St Steakhouse and the Sierra Nevada Taproom on earlier nights and I would only pick Sierra Nevada over this place because it's such an institution if you've never been there before. Otherwise this is my current top pic in Chico. Our server was really great. Checked in often and accommodating to ask about minor modifications to cocktails (mostly light syrup requests). When I see a restaurant cocktail menu I usually see 1-2 things that sound good but they have a great cocktail list where half sounded great. Started off with a Passionfruit Porto Sour and they accommodated a request for 1/2 simple syrup on it. It was good. My dinner mate got a Pomegranate Ginger Martini which was good enough to order a second later. We also were able to squeeze in a couple of happy hour apps. The Roman artichokes and shrimp gambas were good and easy to share. They also start you off with a little biscuit amuse bouche with compound butter but it was a miss. Very dense and not super flavorful or right out of the oven. The compound butter wasn't good enough to salvage it either. That bite was probably the worse of the night which is a positive. I got eh ribeye with salsa verde, broccolini and fingering potatoes which was good. They were a little heavy handed for my taste with the salsa verde but was ok because it was thick enough to scape partially off and it wasn't too salty and tasty. Just too much covering the steak. The steak itself was ok and already cut into strips but not a standout. The steak at 5th Street was better cut and cooked piece of meat. The broccolini was fine as well but the best thing on the plate was the fingerling potatoes and I'm not a potatoes person. They were partially smashed and cooked well enough to have some crispy outside. Dinner mate had the grilled petite tender which was a filet with a nice fruit glaze and they liked it but I didn't try. I ordered a second cocktail in the form of a coffee Negroni which I had never had before and was eager to try but was told they ran out because they pre-batch it. I got an east side instead off menu and it was solid. We followed up with a chocolate martini and a penicillin (1/2 honey) which was a nice end. Friendly attentive service, great drinks and solid food. We ate on a nice outdoor patio which was nice in the warm weather but there were a lot of flies and the table tops have ridges which made the cocktails on there dicey. Overall strongly recommend!

Apparently this is one of the better restaurants in Chico. It is a bit upscale with both indoor and…read moreoutdoor patio seating. I found the interior to be somewhat dark and gloomy. The carpet in particular is somewhat outdated and very dreary. We were seated right away with an evening reservation. Our server was the most delightful, helpful as well as professional person. She definitely made for an enjoyable experience. The menu is nicely broad with some very good and interesting selections. For an appetizer I selected the Alsatian Tarte Flambe. With the description of a "tarte" plus "puffed pastry" I was somewhat surprised when what looked like a flatbread arrived. Although somewhat true to the description I expected something like a cup shaped pastry. It was delicious enough so no complaints over the ingredients and flavor. If anything it tasted a bit top heavy with vinegar, yet still enjoyable. I washed it down with a Schramsberg Prosecco which was a perfect accompaniment. For an entree I choose the Grilled 6oz Petit Tender (medium rare) with asparagus and scalloped potatoes topped by a red wine and berry sauce. It was excellent, flavorful with the meat very tender. I was very pleased. It was an abundant portion so I was quite full after consuming it. My dining companion had the grilled meatloaf with ground filet mignon and pork sausage. It is baked and then grilled. I tried some and it is EPIC. It has to be one of the best meatloaf preparation I ever tasted. Bravo on this dish! We shared a bottle of Tempranillo to accompany it which was perfect. For dessert we shared a nice and refreshing mint chocolate chip ice cream which was generously comped as we were there for a special occasion. Thank you! I would definitely return and try other dishes, although the meatloaf is a must standout. Overall a very good experience.

Visited July 9 2026. See my receipt as always as proof!…read more I have been wanting to go here as one of 2 places ( The Hive) that My girlfriend recommended. First time in Orland. Its a casual yet classy place for lunch and dinner. They have a shaded patio in front as well ( dog friendly). I love smaller towns! Relatively no traffic or crime! My boyfriend and I ordered off the lunch specials menu. He ordered the smash burger and chose macaroni salad. I ordered the grilled shrimp on a skewer with brown rice and spicy coleslaw. We always try each other's food! The smash burger was juicy and the macaroni salad was good! My shrimp had a nice grill on it and the coleslaw was delicious. The brown rice was alittle dry for my taste buds. It has a full bar with tvs to watch sports. There is quieter seating on the other side of the bar area. Overall it was a good experience! Skip this place. Seriously. We arrived at 1:28 pm on Monday, September 7 2026. The sign posted on…read moretheir glass door stated they were open until 2 pm. and the red OPEN light was still on. We held the door for an elderly couple leaving as we entered, so for the sake of argument let's say we crossed their threshold at exactly 1:30 pm. "Hostess" ( college girl with messy hair under a baseball cap) immediately informs us they are CLOSED. No hello no greeting at all, just and abrupt , "We are closed." Huh. Sign says 2 pm?!!! She kinda shrugs us off with a parting comment, "we stop seating at 1:30." News to me, we've been coming here for five plus years and always between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Never ever had a problem or had anyone tell us about this 1:30 pm seating rule. Ok. But I show her my phone. "it's 1:30 now" and she just shrugs and says sorry. Disappointed, we cruise over to The Farmers Skillet located a few miles away in Chico on Rio Lindo. We strolled in at 1:50 pm, noting they also close at 2 pm. I ask politely if we are too late even though our hostess already has two menus in her hand and a smile on her face. "Not at all," she exclaims and then says "Welcome". Service there was warm, and unhurried. The Roost could learn a lesson here. If your 24/7 policy is to stop serving half an hour prior to closing then it should be posted, and door locked maybe? I know Deja Vu (also in Chico, on the Esplanade) closes at 2 pm and they have the CLOSED sign up with door locked at 1:45 pm. We shan't be returning. Very disrespectful and unnecessary. IF in fact that IS the policy of this diner and not just the whim of a lazy student/hostess then we should still have been seated. It was 1:30 pm as we entered. Shame on management. Know your staff and make sure they are operating with YOUR agenda and priorities, not theirs.

So if I was basing they review on food alone it's an easy 4 to 4.5 stars. Service was lacking. I arrived first and took a small table in the very back corner. When the waiter came by I let them know I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen in over a year and we were planning a long lunch. It was a Saturday afternoon and not busy. My guest arrived and the sever didn't come back for at least 10 min. But ok. No biggie. We ordered a soda and an iced tea. When those arrived we ordered food. My tacos came quickly and then we sat, looking at my food while we waited for the other entrée, the burger. 10 minutes later it shows up served by another server, no explanation or even acknowledgement that it took 10 minutes between me being served and my companion being served. Anyway our server was MIA for the rest of our stay. No offer of a refill for our beverages, no asking if the food was ok. Nothing. We stayed about 2 hours total and my normal policy is to double the tip because I have taken a table for about twice as long as normal. Unfortunately service was sub par. Oh and tea was incredibly strong not in a good way.
