This is honestly the worst and most unprofessional company. We came to their office door, where the guy talks through the glass, and we told him our car was illegally towed (which we originally filed a stolen car report but no one had properly reported it to the towing line). The guy became disgruntled, starting to yell as well as cut me off. I had to yell over him and tell him not to cut me off and let me finish. At this point, he swings the door open, pushes me with his chest, and says "Hit me. Go ahead and hit me you F@gg!t!" He started provoking a fight and screaming in my face. I yelled back at him to knock it off and that I wanted to know his name. He refused to give it to me and stated it was "Brighton Towing". I asked at least 10 times before he got back in my face and repeated his threats and instigation. At this point, I told him he can try to hit me and that I am not going to hit him. He stated that there was a camera right behind me. I looked at it smiled and introduced myself to him and tried to shake his hand. He backed away but kept calling me names and making threats. He finally gave me the name of "Juan" which when I described this to someone who knows the company (and its owner) they said it described their owner, Javier. We have filed assault charges against the guy and the situation with the car is under investigation as what the tow truck company is reporting is not what is meshing with current evidence. read more

Okay, so it's been established that I tend to take chances when it comes to parking my car. The most recent chance I took landed me a VIP spot in none other than the lot of Brighton Towing - one of Boston's finer establishments. Ha. Brighton Towing is one of the sketchiest, most unprofessional scumbag businesses in the city. When I called to confirm the whereabouts of my beloved whip, I had the great displeasure of speaking with Javier, the supposed manager of the joint. In broken English, he chuckled and barked "Yeah we have your car. $151, cash only, and call 20 minutes before you come to make sure someone will be here." Excuse me? For one, cash only? In 2011? Being in such a widely loathed line of work, you figure it'd be in their best interest not to keep a lot of cash in their poorly secured office. Ugh. Also, I don't enjoy being barked or laughed at. Especially when politely inquiring about your ridiculous (and likely unlawful) policies. How is it legal to not have reliable and accurate hours of operation? I hope your hack job operation gets shut down for mismanagement. But since the city's in on the scam, I don't think it'll ever happened, and that makes me sad =( Ugh. Okay - my car got ticketed by BTD and Brighton was the tower. They dolly'd my AWD vehicle (thankfully). I had some very minor scratches on the bumper (NBD to me). The guy I dealt with was pretty understandable at how annoying it is to get your car towed - he didn't charge me the full amount (still had to pay cash). I did have to wait about 45 minutes for him to get to the lot (which is tough to find as the entrance isn't on Hano, it's actually on Penniman Road). So, for a service that I didn't order and an inconvenience I had to accept to get my car, it wasn't a completely horrible experience. Plus, the guy was nice. These people are scammers and straight up evil. I was doing my last Postmates delivery of the day and I illegally parked in an apartment parking lot. I was gone for two minutes to drop the food off and walk back to my car and my car was gone. First of all, how can you tow a car that fast???? I swear they were watching me. I explained that I was doing Postmates and that I was gone for less than 5 minutes but they didn't care. They charged me 125 dollars because my car was parked illegally for less 2 minutes due to a Postmates delivery smh. I showed the manager that paying this fee would erase all the money I made that day and he still didn't care. I can't believe that they can be so heartless especially now when people are tight for cash with COVID. These guys need to be shut down! read more

I parked in spot that was marked for a business I was going into and then received a towing notice. I called them and stated that the sign was there but they claimed I had parked in a residential spot. When I got back the sign was moved. They resort to illegal practices and gaslighting to extort people. Picture of where the sign was moved. Going to complain to the state but was shocked to learn the limited recourse to report and dispute this type of activity since private towing companies are overseen by the Department of Public Utilities rather than the city's parking clerk. Interesting how there is more recourse for disputing illegal towings if it it's directly through the city rather than through private companies. I suspect this loophole is by design and I intend to make my complaint about this matter and the process itself be heard. read more

Towed by this place for street cleaning. My fault and paid the price. HOWEVER, they unnecessarily broke into my vehicle to tow it. They shimmied my door, tearing the gasket and leaving a gash in my interior frame. My car is a lease, this damage will be on me upon returning. My wheels were straight, there was no reason to break in to straighten my steering wheel UNLESS.. they decided to tow my car from the rear and needed to release my e-brake (manual transmission). This makes no sense as it would mean they took off down the wrong way of a one way. When I retrieved my vehicle from the yard, first thing I did was go to release my e-brake like I always do and.. SURPRISE! It's already released! Destructive, unprofessional and sure to take you for all your worth. Pray you get towed to southie instead! read more

Sketchy and horribly unprofessional extortionists. Running some money making setup with 15 N Beacon apts/child care. I had parked in the lot behind a restaurant I frequent to run in and grab my takeout (there is no street parking, it was winter, and I recently had hurt my ankle). There were a bunch of spots for this apt complex's day care program that are not in use after business hours. Was gone LESS THAN 10 MIN to walk around the corner and pick up my food. When I return there is already a tow truck there about to tow my car. Still have no idea how they physically could have gotten there so quickly. Then the guy refused to let me leave unless I paid him $50 in cash. read more

These guys are straight up criminals and belong behind bars. My business partner's car has been towed at least 4 times from a spot that HE OWNS. He has a parking tag for that particular spot, but each time they come up with some crazy excuse on why they towed his car and why he can't get it back for free. He got it towed because there was a smudge on the parking pass, he got it towed because it was tilted, etc... When we went there to pick up the car (at 2am) they said they would send somebody over to move the cars so we can get his (there were 2 tow trucks in front of his car). They said no longer than 15-20 minutes. We waited outside for about half an hour and called again, this time nobody picked up. Nobody picked up at all for the next 30 minutes. The next day when my business partner went to pick up his car he demanded that he was given the names of all the employees of the business, especially the manager, and THEY REFUSED. People who work in the towing industry are the scum of the Earth. I put them on the same scale as child molesters because what they do it so bad (well not as bad as child molesters per act, but the fact that they steal $100's from people every day makes it as bad). They really are criminals and deff overcharged me for the 15 mins I was in their lot. $140 is absolutely ridiculous and the guy had no idea how much it costs, he had do the math like 10 times. How the fuck dont you know how much it costs for a car to be towed and sit there for 15 mins. He dragged it about 20 miles, Im not even sure why Brighton Towing is doing in Newton/Wellsley. The guy who towed it was a jackass, the operator barely speaks english. Absolutely terrible business practice with towing. I was parked in a 30-minute parking lot and was gone for 20. I had set a timer on my phone to ensure I was back on time. I walk to my car and see it being put on the tow truck. I try and have a conversation with the men telling them I had only been gone for 20 minutes, can prove it with receipts, and they did not listen. Had to pay $90 for them to take their tow off of my car even though I arrived at my car before it had been moved. Incredibly rude service practice. Not to mention had I been towed to their lot (which is half a block away from the lot i was in), it would have been $140. For a half block tow. Absurd. Have fun with my cash you heartless animals. read more

You're lucky you get even 1 star. I called you to change my flat with the spare I had, except you couldn't even get two men to get my lug nuts off. You still took half my cash and did jack shit to my tire, no receipt. You even had the audacity to try and convince me to let you tow my car elsewhere so you could collect even more undeserving money. I work near the 7/11 in that area and I can see them through my office window just driving around the block looking for people who are in the parking lot for more than ten minutes and then towing their cars. I go in that 7/11 all the time so just out of curiosity I asked one of the employees who I know if they call the company. His words to me were no those guys are just ruthless. read more

Recently had to get my truck towed due to a flat tire and not having a spare. When the tow truck driver arrived he got the truck up on the flat bed fairly quickly so I was thinking this wasnt going to be as bad as i thought. But i was wrong. We got maybe 500 yards from my office and stopped at a red light, and the truck came crashing into the cab of the tow truck. The drive tried blamming this on my brakes. This had nothing to do with my brakes as my truck was in park and the truck should have been strapped down properly. We drove in silence the rest of the way to my mechanic, and me and my mechanic checked the damage on the front of the vehicle. Looks like someone took a cheese grader to the front of my car. Now before this i got out to go get my mechanic, and brought the keys with me. When i returned he had the truck down of the lift. Yes, this doesnt make sense i know. When i got to him he said "i bet your wondering how i did this" and proceeded to take the car from park to drive without the key. I went back to get my mechanic to look at it, and by the time we got back outside he was gone. I started with a flat tire and a lug nut that wouldnt come off. Now becuase of Brighton Tow I have a scratched up front end and a transmission that needs to be replaced. AAA said they were gonna have The owner call me. He has not. read more

I pulled into my friend's empty driveway in a residential neighborhood to unload a bike. The driveway is $100 a month extra to park in but I figure it is safe for a less than two minute unload. I brought the bike inside and immediately came out to move my truck. It was being towed away. The driver stopped and I told him not to tow it like that because it is four wheel drive. He took it personally yelling that he knew how to tow. I got in my truck to set it for towing and to get some items out of it. The driver came over to me and hit the window - hard - when i asked him to get his hand off my door. He struck my vehicle in anger. Totally out of line. He deserves to be yelled at every day for stealing people's cars. They towed my truck a mile and I got it as he unloaded it. Thanks for nothing you scum. I told him not to damage my truck and he asked me where the damage was. The damage was in his head. These people need to be shut down so that they can go back to stealing cars with weapons instead of tow trucks. I'm pretty sure that is where they got their training. I have to give nothing less than 5 stars after the tremendous service I received today from Brighton towing, especially on the 4th of July! I conveniently locked my keys in my car around 1pm. After about a half hour of trying to break into my own car unsuccessfully I called towing companies to help me out. The first 3 didn't answer and Brighton Towing was my last chance. Not only did they pick up the phone but they were there in less than 15 minutes and charges me less than it would have cost me if I was outside the city. The man was so sweet and I genuinely felt like I was taken care of. My uncle owns a towing business and it saddens me to see the poor reviews because they are the company that goes when others park illegally - it actually speaks volumes of the company that the city picks them specifically to tow cars - there are many mandates that the company has to follow in order to be even considered. Brighton Towing's two star yelp review is too high, so I had to do my part to bring it back down. These "clowns" (less polite words omitted to ensure the review stays up) took my sister-in-law's car while we were celebrating Christmas. When we found the car missing from the parking lot with 50+ empty spaces, we saw their tow truck back in the same lot trolling for more cash. This group of bottom-feeding scumbags doesn't even deserve a review, since everyone looking them up will obviously share my feelings. Personally, I have not had a business interaction with this company, but I have experienced harassment by one of their tow truck drivers. A friend and I were outside our apartment talking when a Brighton Towing truck slowly passed us, stopped a few feet ahead, and backed up at us. He stopped in front of us and began to make sexual advances at us. He turned his truck off waiting for our replies. He sped off only after we threatened him and pulled out a cell phone. Last night I was towed from a low that had NO visible signs saying it was illegal to park there. I am in my friends apartment and about 45 minutes later I look outside and see my car being rolled away. I race downstairs trying to catch the driver and as soon as he sees me in the rear view mirror he sped off (possibly damaging to my vehicle to be speeding?). I called the number on his truck and the guy who picked up claimed to be the driver and told me that I was stupid to think he would pull over (in an alley) and if I wanted my car to come to the lot (and then hung up). Upon arrival at the lot, my car had just been taken off the truck, the "manager" told me I could only get my car if I paid 140$ in cash right then and there. I started to take pictures of the lot, the truck, the signs, etc and he came out, yelled at me, and told me the fine was now $280 dollars for taking pictures of his property. This prompted me to call the police and when I told him I would he scoffed at me. 5 minutes later 2 Boston Police cruisers rolled up. The manager sat in his office and ignored them, prompting them to flash their lights and tell him to get outside. Slowly and lazily he walked outside smirking at me and the officers. When asked the price by the officers he said 140$. When asked if he told me 280$ he said maybe and laughed. The cops said there was nothing they could do, even though they wanted to just let me get my car out of there. They told me all I could do was pay the $140 and file a report the next day. I immediately went back to the lot and photographed and filmed the entire lot. The only sign in the entire lot (a big lot), is a tiny sign that reads "Bright Tow [Phone #]". At the tow lot the "manager" had claimed that there was several signs and even swore on it. I'm glad I went back that night, even though it was very late, because guess what!? 8am the next morning the "manager" was back at the lot putting signs up everywhere. My car was not towed, it was stolen for a ransom of 140$. I did not illegally park, but they illegally towed me. I will be filing a report and I hope that I can actually do something against the crooked, unprofessional company. read more
