Avoid or risk getting scammed! Went for an inspection and before I left the house, took a picture of my headlights working fine. When it's my cars turn, the tech pulls me over to show me a headlight not working. I call him on the bs with the picture, but he's feigning ignorance. Tells me he's gonna fail the inspection when I tell him I will take care of it myself. When I get the report, he decides to include a bogus suspension issue which means now I have to pay someone to get it looked at. Never go there for an inspection unless you got cameras to catch them and time to sue them for shady business practices. read more

Worst experience ever! $1500 cost for a leak. Then other issues that were not their before started the day after I got the car back. They would not fix the stuff they caused but would charge for services you did not ask for, like oil changes. They were referred to me by AAA, and because of the bad referral AAA is paying me back for the cost because they would not. read more

I came for the prices, but was extra-impressed by the honesty. I had been told elsewhere that I needed front brake pads replaced (among other things), yet when I asked Shimon's to add that to the work order, they called when the car was up on the lift to say the brake pads were fine, thus saving me $486. The things they did do appear to have been done well (sparks $290, muffler adjustment $145, filters $124), and I could not be more pleased. Yes, when it's busy they can get a little gruff, but I'd rather have gruff/smart/honest than polite/incompetent/dishonest. read more

After routine oil change, and cleaning out some rodent nests, mechanic forgot to put the splash guard back on underneath the car. I discovered it a few days later when I popped open the hood. When I went back the next day to tell them, no one would take responsibility. They said it was never there. Obviously it was, which is how I discovered the rodents. Would not budge and would not admit they threw it away or whatever. No responsibility for this mistake. read more

I had to replace my clutch and front breaks and I went to a few bodyshops in the area but Shimon quoted the best price and soonest turn around time. When I went to pick up my car, it was way cleaner than when I dropped it off. Shimon's is fantastic. They've serviced my car twice now, once when in need of an emergency repair and once for regular oil change and tune up. Both times, I received my car in great condition and it was running excellent. They've always gotten my car back to me on the same business day, even when they had to rewire the whole thing because of rats! In addition, when I've ignorantly requested more expensive service because I thought something else was wrong, they always check to see if it's necessary and never try to upsell me on anything. Both times, they called me to tell me the problem and price to fix over the phone before starting work. They are honest, hardworking guys. Finally, they are very affordable! They've never overcharged me, or added any odd fees like the dealerships do. Will be bringing my car here for many more years! read more

I go to Shimon's every time my car is being funky or I need something fixed. They never wheel and deal me despite my 2007, 230,000+ mile car and will often tell me that it's not worth the money to replace something, and give me a less expensive fix. They do a great job communicating throughout the repair process and are very friendly and fast. Get there right at 7:30 if you don't have an appointment. read more

NEVER go here for your state vehicle inspections, they're TOTAL scammers. My vehicle was in perfect shape, never failed an inspection, and they failed due to an "exhaust system" issue that the guy couldn't even elaborate on. They offered to change the entire exhaust system over $1000. I was stunned and told him no. I went to TWO mechanics, one at valvoline and another local one, both of whom said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. I ended up taking my car to a different vehicle inspection site and it passed with no issues. I WOULD AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN!!! read more

I had typically had positive experiences until an experience several years ago. I had gone in because my breaks on my Prius were locking, However the mechanic at Shimon's did not properly fix my breaks and it became unsafe while on the road. The owner was very apologetic when I called, but I did not go back. I went to my Toyota service center and they were able to fix the problem. I believe this was not a typical situation, but I felt I needed to share this as it was a serious overlook on their part. read more

Brake lights were glued on in the back and car needed annual inspection. They fixed the lights replaced the bulb and inspected for $165.00. It took them a week to schedule a service appointment as they were all booked up. An excellent efficient place. read more

I had a horrible experience trying to get a state inspection sticker. I pulled into the lot where the sign literally has an arrow pointing to state inspection area. I was then screamed at by an employee, "what the f*** are you doing, back up there are people in line in front of you". I nicely said there's no need to speak to me like that, so I go to a different spot and park. The owner then came out (very nice) and asked why I didn't pull into the inspection area, and I explained this to him. He apologized but said they were just joking around. I left without getting my car inspected because I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Thy work on older cars, weld, really know what they are doing, find solutions, make sure to get all the cars in even when they are busy, prices are reasonable, and communicate details to you, including how long fixes will take. Once the parts arrived from Chevy, everything was turned around quickly, and probably half the cost that the dealer would have charged me. They are a perfect example of a business that will screw their customers and cut corners just to make an extra buck. The employees and office are also unprofessional and very sketchy. It sure seems like they tried to take advantage of an anyway tough situation: My sister was visiting from out-of-state and starting to drive home when she found she had a flat tire. I called Shimon's, recalling they were just around the corner, and was told they could fix it within 45 minutes. We dropped the car off. They called 25 minutes later saying the tire was not patchable (due to a nail through the sidewall) and it would take a day and over $300 to order and install a replacement. With few options, we agreed, and shifted plans accordingly. Later they called again to say the tire was discontinued, that therefore they would have to replace two tires, and these would not be available for several days. At this point, my sister, after checking availability near her home, opted to drive the 200 miles on the donut spare. Back home, she took the car in to get two tires. Miraculously, that tire dealer was able to patch the tire, since the hole was actually in the treads, not the sidewall. It sure seems like Shimon's was looking to take advantage of a traveller in a tight spot, by upselling her a tire rather than a patch. It would have worked, too, if the tire was readily available. read more

They squeezed my car in on a very busy Saturday morning after my interior fan blower motor burnt out suddenly leaving me unable to defrost my windows or heat the car interior on a very cold day. I moved to MA recently from cross-country and was super nervous about finding a new mechanic, particularly amid the pandemic. I went to Shimon's today to get regular servicing and do the state inspection, and it was hands down the best experience I've ever had dealing with my car. I dropped my vehicle off at 9am, and was told it would be ready by 10:15 (which already was a way faster turnaround time than I'd even hoped for). They called me at 10am that it was ready early! The team at Shimon's was super nice and are clearly taking the current safety restrictions seriously (masks, shields). On top of that, they didn't up-sell me on anything or magically find something wrong with my car (which honestly, I know nothing about cars, so I'm not a super sharp customer). Thanks, Shimon's team!
