I'm writing to chime in with my five stars. I've been taking my car to Aram for three years now,…read moreand he's never steered me wrong (no pun intended). Here's an example of Aram really going above and beyond: in more than one case with exhaust problems I was having, he honestly told me that for him to repair the problem, it would cost much more than to bring it somewhere else; and the place he referred me to saved me literally over a thousand dollars. Another time, he told me where to get tires cheaper than what it'd cost for me to buy them through him. If it were any other mechanic I've met in my lifetime, they would have tried to fleece me. Not Aram. It made me feel like he genuinely takes his customer's best interests ahead of his own. When he actually does do the maintenance and/or repairs, he explains each thing in simple, easy-to-understand terms, doesn't patronize, doesn't candy-coat anything, doesn't cut corners. He will check in with you before performing any prior-unknown service, telling you what he's found, how much it's likely to cost, and so forth. He's never ended up charging me more than what he'd initially estimated. He's been honest as to which repairs are time-sensitive, and which ones I can safely put off. And it's always been below the cost of what any other repair shop has quoted me for similar services. You'll probably have to book your appointment with him in advance, but that's because so many people want to have Aram taking care of their car. The cash-only thing does not deter me; I actually prefer it that way. Aram has earned my trust and loyalty, and it's worth taking a lump of cash out of the ATM. Even if I move out of the immediate area (I am lucky enough to live a block away), I will still take my car to his shop for any repairs, maintenance, and so on. And yes, don't confuse his garage with the garage next door. (His is the driveway that goes to the upper floor.) So yeah, really, Aram's my go-to man, and will remain as such. In my 28 years of driving, I've never been nearly as satisfied with a mechanic as I am now. If I could give six or seven stars, I would.

I wish I could give you more than five stars…read more.... I went to a local shop, Eastland Motors, this week to get an inspection sticker. The mechanic told me that my car didn't pass, due to brake issues. He offered to access the brakes and fix any problems. They put a rejection sticker on my windshield. Since this effort could potentially be an expensive effort and I didn't know the place, I was reluctant. But the owner assured me that they would do a good job. So I made an appointment for the next day. Still has reservations about them doing the work. My neighbor suggested reading any Yelp reviews before moving forward. I did this and was shocked at all the bad reviews. Told them in person the next day that I couldn't do business with them, due to the bad reviews, and drove away before the mechanic could respond. Made an appointment with Direct Tire in Watertown, who I had been going to for about 30 years. They are great! Susan, the representative, looked up my car in Carfax, She found that my brake and rotors had been replaced in early June of last year by Parkway Toyota. I bought the car from them a few weeks later. They gave me a loaner car, too. Thank you, Susan and Godfrey, and thank you, Direct Tire and Parkway Toyota for being so honest!! This is why I have gone to Direct Tire for so long.

They people at Pleasant car care were so nice and helpful, they immediately fit me in and got my car looked at and assessed. They found several of the same things as the other shop but they were not charging their extreme prices. They created videos showing what work needed to be done and why, they had loaner cars available for me and even offered to drive me home while they worked on it. I noticed after I got the car the next day that there was a small vibration and they immediately came and got the car from my house, checked it out, and realigned the wheels at no additional cost. I will definitely be going back for all of my future car needs and highly recommend them.

When I went there, they took pictures and video of my control arms and brakes and rotors and used scare tactics to tell me that I cannot drive this car as it is a safety issue. I met the owner, i have no idea why I needed to meet him. I had spoken with one of the floor mechanics who showed me a leak from my thermostat. They told me $1300 for brakes, $1700 for control arms, and $1000 for the thermostat... $4000! I drove home (even though they warned me not to), ordered the control arms, rotors, brakes, and thermostat and replaced them all myself. Here are the results: The car has 60,000 miles. The control arms look used like a car with 60k miles should, but they were not anywhere near an imminent failure. Same for the brakes and rotors. The only issue that was important for me was to replace was the thermostat housing... yes, the one that I had taken the initiative to ask the floor mechanic, and the front desk didn't even tell me about! Now, I knew what they were talking about. But I can clearly see how someone who didn't know much about cars would be terrified into hiring them for repairs that really weren't needed. The videos, etc, are all part of the credibility and selling process. Speaking of which, I can tell you that these guys use what's called a "one-call close" sales tactic. Just like at a dealership, these guys know that if a customer walks out the door, 90% of the time, they are not coming back. And, the salespeople are paid on almost 100% commission. That means that if they don't close a sale, they don't eat. They are not interested in a relationship. As I woman, I have been taken advantage of by dealerships and other mechanics.... But not Tony. For example, if I need an oil change - he gives me an oil change and doesn't try to upsell anything. On a Saturday morning, we went looking for a few mechanics which were recommended to us. To our surprise, they were all closed on Saturday, and we were told to come back on Monday. We couldn't wait until Monday, so what did we do? We did a Yelp search, of course! Yelp to the rescue!!! The #1 business to appear after our Yelp search was Tony's Auto Service....they have a 4.8 Star Rating! Come on now, an auto service establishment with such a high rating?!?! The New Yorker in us were very skeptical! But we were in a bind, and time was ticking away, so off to Tony's Auto Service we went....it was only 5 minutes away! Yay! So we get to Tony's, and we're told that they're very busy and they can't look at our car right away, as there were two customers ahead of us. They said to leave the car and to call back in 2 hrs. We very cautiously left the car, and went to walk around town and have breakfast. In exactly 2 hrs, Tony called us and said our car was ready! He said come back and we'll discuss what the problem with the car is. We braced ourselves for what it would cost to repair the car. We also braced ourselves for the possible song and dance about what the problem was. Well....imagine our surprise when Tony told us that the problem is NOT an emergency, and didn't need to be taken care of right away. He told us exactly what was wrong, how much the parts would cost, and how much it would cost to get fixed. He gave us the ok to drive back to NY, and advised us to see our own mechanic whenever we got home. What?!?! As out-of-towners, we're not going to get ripped off?!?! Not only did we NOT get ripped off, Tony said there is NO CHARGE for the diagnosics! Now THAT is definitely 5 Star worthy!! We appreciate Tony's honestly and kindness so much. What a nice surprise. There really are honest mechanics still around! Thanks so much! Needless to say, we highly recommend Tony's Auto Service and recommended it to our local relatives. Business cards were taken and handed out!
