I was refused a state inspection, and he explicitly mentioned that he does not like EVs (I drive a Tesla). I went to the shop next door and had no problem getting my car inspected. Went in for an inspection, they were quick, nice about it, and had me on my way in a jiffy.

They will not consult you on the work to be done and will bill you with no itemized context. I did not receive any notice on what the cost was going to be before they moved forwards with the repair, instead they just called me when it was done and I didn't get any itemized bill, so there's no breakdown of what the cost was for, does not seem trustworthy. When I got the car back the owner said "the whole car is in pretty bad shape to be honest" but didn't expand on any details or suggestions, just a blanket insult. Why say something like that and not advise what they saw was wrong? Unprofessional communication, shady billing practices without itemization, not great customer service. I don't need sunshine, rainbows and smiles talking to mechanics, but you still need to be professional. UPDATE: The way they repaired the exhaust pipe that became detached (issue in the first place) was they welded the exhaust pipe together when I believe it just needed a clamp. In doing so, now that I need to replace the muffler, the ENTIRE SYSTEM needs to be replaced since they welded everything together. No consultation before they moved forwards with their welding and now it's costing thousands of dollars. read more

I've been here before for an inspection and I had a very pleasant visit the first time. The customer service experience has completely changed this second time. Immediately upon arrival I did not remember where to pull up due to, 1. Only being here for a yearly inspection. 2. There is no signage. During my wait, I'm guessing they do not want you to wait in your car but I did again because there is no signage's stating what to do. During my wait, another customer pulled up and I had to move towards the garage door. While moving so the customer could pull into a spot, a male came out waving me to move as I was trying to. I politely pointed the direction of the other customer's car, the male mocked me while continuing to walk towards me. I was then told, "you know what to do..What do you think you drive a helicopter?" Again, I did not know what to do and I tired to explain I was simply just moving my car for the another customer. Then my inspection was not complete after being told my legal tints are not legal anymore because the "law changed". It's safe to say I'll take care of the matter elsewhere and I will NOT be coming back. read more

Called in for a vehicle inspection and they said I could walk in any time within the listed hours. Went in at 1pm, weekday after lunch, had to wait a couple of mins for another car which was being inspected. Once my turn came everything was done within 5mins. My car is fairly new (less than 4yr), so I wasn't expecting any issues. But this was as fast as it can get. My previous experiences have been over 20-30mins at other inspection centers after the vehicle is taken in. They took photos, hooked up cable to take readings, checked usual stuff and that's it. Inspection done right! Wow what a positive experience to report. Who doesn't dread that time of the year? No not taxes - getting that annual inspection sticker. We put it off hoping somehow that number will magically change on the windshield. Well procrastinate no more dear reader. At MacKenzie Motors they got the inspection process down to an art and science. Once you enter the garage ( though a large automatic door), the team gets to work. Best Motorcycle Inspection I have ever been too. They are quick and superb with customer service.

Came for a car inspection and I'm never going back. DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS YOUR BUSINESS. GO ELSEWHERE! 1. They didn't return my cheerful hello when I pulled up. Instead they rudely instructed me to roll my windows down and leave the car on. 2. They weren't wearing masks (I guess it infringed on their freedom) 3. They rudely yelled at me to give them my pin # 4. They had MAD attitude when I asked a simple question 5. They barked at me to get out of their garage when I was just putting on my seatbelt. I literally only said hello and kindly asked about my inspection sticker. I said nothing else the entire time. Don't go here. Especially if you're a person of color--they made it VERY clear they want whites only. read more

I found my car with a dead battery today and ended up here. I have an older car and these guys were so wonderful! I saw them have to work HARD to get my old battery out (pretty sure it's the original one that came with the car) they were quick, so kind and courteous! I guess when you take a battery out something happens with the stereo of this Honda, they were on it trying to get that fixed. I also have a wierd thing with the hood and it not wanting to close correctly if I opened it. They taught me how to engage the mechanism to have it shut correctly. These guys are a 10 out of 10. I couldn't say thank you enough! I feel like I should bake them cookies for all they helped me with! read more

AC line was broken. Bought the replacement part and was referred to Mackenzie's by NAPA auto parts around the corner. Dropped my car off, and was told they would see what could be done. I was called back a couple hours later and told that it couldn't be fixed and to come take it elsewhere. Came to pick it up and was told the whole dash would need to be taken out and saw that they had cut out the old ac line. I took it to Infiniti who proceeded to tell me what should've been a couple hundred dollars to replace, would now cost thousands. Returned back to Mackenzie's, only to be told I was lying, and that they didn't work on my car at all. DO NOT COME HERE, especially if you're a woman and or a person of color. read more

The entrance has no signage or window to see through, which made me a bit worried I was walking into the wrong spot, but the office is right there inside the garage, as is a bench for customers. There's no coffee or frills, but you won't need 'em bc you won't be there long! Will definitely be returning. read more

Do not support this business! If I could give zero stars I would. My brother went to MacKenzie Motors for a vehicle inspection. My brother was diagnosed muscular dystrophy and as a result he asked if he could remain in the vehicle throughout the inspection as he has pain in his joints. His request was not only declined, but they also went on to rant about how he should not be driving because he is disabled and implied that his licensed should be taken away. My brother is already very hurt and upset by the service he received from MacKenzie motors. They discriminated against him due to his disability and it is completely unacceptable! Do not support this business, they are not good people and have zero custom service skills. read more

My partner has mobility issues and asked to stay in the car during the inspection. At that point the staff became rude stating he should not be driving and should have thought of that prior to the visit. When I went to defend him and their discriminatory remarks, they refused service. Entirely unnecessary and unprofessional. read more

Went back to MacKenzie Motors this morning again for my second inspection with them. They're still fantastic! I called around 7:45 am to make sure they would me able to inspect my car, and as always, the man who picked up the phone (I'm assuming the owner?) was SUPER friendly and told me to come on down anytime. Once I arrived, they managed to take my car in within 5 minutes and have it back out to me within another 10 max. The employees who came out to get my key / credit card weren't wearing masks, but I appreciated their willingness to take my card from me outside, run it inside, and bring the card and receipt back out to me to avoid COVID risk. I brought my car here once on the recommendation of my roommate. From the opening conversation, it was a disaster. "Hey, what's your name?" "Christopher" "I'm gunna call you Chris" *writes 'cris' on a piece of paper* "Ok, Kevin" "my name's tom" *quizzical look. . he didn't get the joke* "oh. sorry" When I picked up my car the oil was changed, and was told that I needed new tires. "really? I just got the car. What's wrong" "you need new tires. We have very competitive prices" "ok, but what's wrong with them?" "you need new ones." Uhhhh huh. So I took my car to Monroe because I didn't fully trust that they even changed the oil, and while it was true that I needed new tires, Monroe was able to explain that was going on with the tires I had. It turned out that I needed a few other minor things. . . like new brake pads, and there was an issue with the struts. I was even able to take a look myself, and just to be totally safe, I got a third opinion. Turns out Monroe was right and MacKenzie sucks I wouldn't trust these guys with a trikie. read more

I love these guys! Super easy for a quick state inspection. This year my car was fine, but last year something showed up on the code reader that needed a repair so I had to schedule repairs for the following week (they could've done it that day, but I needed to get to work). Usually I would go to the dealership with that stuff but I felt comfortable going back. Well, the next week I brought my car back and whatever had been going wrong with the code reader wasn't happening anymore. They didn't charge me for the extra time or testing, just the inspection. I went here for a quick state inspection before work (opens 8 am) because it's close to my house. It is a small garage populated with friendly, local people with the typical boston accent. All the employees had the crude, quasi-sassy, boisterous demeanor that I would expect and find endearing in an honest sort of way. As my car was inspected, the man guessed I was Polish and started talking to me in Polish, about Polish bars in the area, the Polish demographic in the area, etc. Reminded me of home. The inspection took 10 minutes. They screwed my new front license plate into my front bumper for me and also. They put the inspection sticker next to my Roberts Towing sticker and proceeded to warn me, "Don't take that sticker off - I know the guys - they're real bastards." Synopsis: Got car inspected quickly - they're friendly, fun to talk to, especially juxtaposed with the highbrow, quiet, conservative engineers I work with all day. Can't say anything about their other services, though. Would consider coming back if something goes wrong with my car - hell if I know the internal workings of a car - besides knowing the disgusting electromagnetics behind a 3 phase generator/alternator. read more

Came here for an inspection and was told there was a 30 minute wait. That's fine. I came back 30 minutes later and told there was a 15 minute wait. Fine. I waited in my car in front of the garage for the previous inspection to be over. When I pulled out to let the car in front of me out, another car that was there after me and just arrived pulled in and the guys at MacKenzie Motors went on to inspect their car first. Very frustrating, poor communication. Highly recommend Factory Auto Service down the street for your auto repairs instead. Not sure where else to go for an inspection, unfortunately. read more
