Do not expect help or compassion if your car is totaled and you are injured. Between insurance company misinformation and lack of compassion, the customer gets the shaft here. There is fed recourse but this will do for now. read more

I have only two words for Cityside Towing: F#@& YOU! Yes, it's my fault for parking on Hanover St. overnight and not hunting down the most important of the 5 signs = the one describing restrictions regarding street cleaning. But don't call me "sweetheart" and "hun" when I come to pay a ridiculously inflated $150 to retrieve my whip. I assure you, it's not going to lighten my mood in the slightest. Actually, it's just going to piss me off and further increase the chances of me raising my voice, or worse, slamming the door to your cheap sleazy trailer trash business behind me on the way out (I'm not just saying that either. Cityside towing is literally located in a trailer). The fees are absolutely absurd and excessive. The breakdown goes something like this: $75 for the Towing Charge $35 for One Day Storage Fee $5 for "FSC" which I have no idea what that is $35 for the City of Boston Oh, and let's not forget the orange $40 ticket slapped on my windshield 3 minutes before my car was jacked. And ah yes, the $1.70 for entry to the Orange Line, for a grand total of $191.70 for being an idiot. I guess I'll be working for the city of Boston this week. Worst people on earth. Towed my car in a blizzard...fine. I call to see when they were open and the employee said, "anytime" - I asked again because obviously this is not a clear answer prior to heading there in snow and cold alone at night.... The person replied again, "I said anytime, that means anytime".... So I take an Uber and arrive in negative degree temperatures and go in and no one is there. I call and they answer!! Only to explain that they are out towing - I explained that I called and the man replied, "what can you do!?" - well let's start with not lying about when you are open. Awful. read more

Got my car towed due to the fact that it was street cleaning day... completely understandable, I take the blame for that.... Once I realized that my car got towed, I tried to flag down one of the other tow truck drivers that were having a field day in Charlestown, towing anything in their site. I finally got one to stop, and as soon as I asked him where my car was, he got a radio call and put the pedal to the metal, leaving me in the dust. I finally was able to catch up to another one who gave me a slip of paper with the lot address on it... called a cab and headed over there. I paid my $112 to get my car out, then went to go take off my $40 city of Boston parking ticket and noticed that there were branches, like actual tree branches sticking out of my roof rack and window guard. Upon further inspection, I found that I had scratched going up the entire passenger side of my car. I almost lost it... I ran back to the trailer to see what the F happened the woman told me that the owner was on his way and I would need to take it up with him. Finally, the owner came and looked at my car and said that they had nothing to do with the scratches or the branches sticking out of it... I disagreed, naturally... then he said that they take pictures of every vehicle before they tow it. We went back to the trailer and checked out the pics and of course, there was no damage to my vehicle prior to getting towed. They had me fill out paperwork and told me that they would file a claim and have their insurance company call me. I left and of course I never heard from their insurance company but thankfully I was able to track down their info (they gave me the wrong number) and was able to file a claim myself... which I did. In the end, I was able to get enough money to get my car fixed, but it was still a huge hassle and when you look at it on paper... I basically paid $152 to get my car f'ed up... not fun.... read more

Look no one likes to be towed, but these guys are friendly and fair priced. They are open 24 hours a day but if you come after 6 just be sure to call ahead. They are close to the Sullivan Square T stop and down the street from the Tavern at the End of the World. The street that Cityside is on seems to be up-and-coming commercial neighborhood (kind of cool they are located across the street from Acme Bookbinding, a family operated book binding company which I just think is cool in 2013). As a few Yelpers mentioned, this business is located in a trailer (what were you expecting, they are just towing, no body work, etc.), but it is clean and has AC (on a hot summer day it was very nice). They were very friendly in there and their prices were fair. Am I upset that I got towed, absolutely! But do they deserve my ire? No. Also: DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR CAR KEYS! :) read more

I called this fleebag towing company to find out the charges for my son's car that was in an auto accident. I was quoted a fee of $146.00 When another towing company came to pick up the vehicle, they were made to pay $191.00. I called CityTowing and they told me there was an additional charge to open the gate for the towing company. What a crock of BULLSHIT from this company. They were nasty about the additional charges as well. I suggest anyone getting in an accident in Boston District 4 DO NOT have your car towed to this facility. They are 100% total scam artists. We are not powerless, when your car is up in the air or on the bed of a truck and we do not have to drop it or let it go because your in it, unless you want to pay a drop fee. And yes we do have the police behind us! It's not our fault that you could not read a sign. As far as the guy in the office you either really pissed him off with your holier then thou attitude or he was just fed up with all the other people that came before you that thought they were "wrongly towed". Could not be more grateful for their hospitality. I got into a car accident and came to pick the car up a week later. The guy I was talking to (I wanted to get his name but I never did :( I believe he is the manager) was very thorough and let me know exactly everything I would need to have established before coming to pick up my vehicle. I had to borrow a car to do this of course and it would have been extremeeeeely difficult to take multiple trips back and forth to get this done. Will all of his upfront information/direction, it was an easy swift transaction. Nice dude too. I'm thankful to have worked with someone that kept their word and kept everything black and white/simple. read more

I just picked up my car from Cityside Towing after it was removed on street cleaning day. That was my responsibility to remember, so I have no reason to fault the towing company for that. The service was efficient and friendly enough. One can pay with cash or card- no check- and I recommend cash if you are able. The price was 90 for towing charge and 35 a day for storage. That's painful for me since I don't earn a lot, but is consistent with the City of Boston contracted prices. Overall, I rate Cityside as better-than-average, since they tried to suggest ways to remember in the future and helped me find directions home when I asked. They did not go out of their way to be helpful, but they were polite enough, especially since they deal primarily with people having bad days. read more

I tell you this - I never thought I would have anything good to say about a tow service, let alone be so impressed that I was inspired enough to start a yelp account just to tell my story. These people were amazing. They towed my car because I stupidly parked directly under a streetcleaning sign on my first night in Boston (moved from Atlanta with everything I own in the car). I called and found out that for some reason, my car was not registered and they could not legally let me drive it away. My fault. They let me come down and get some clothing out of the car (which they did not have to do at all), and today offered to tow the car to a private space instead of making me keep it there are rack up fees while I wait for paperwork from the DMV. Amazing. Above and beyond, and so kind. Seriously, if my car ever gets towed again (which it hopefully will not), I hope it is by these guys. read more

I came out to my car this morning to see it pulled up on a Cityside tow truck. It was street-cleaning day and I had exceeded the 8:00 a.m. cut-off time by at least 20 minutes. TheCityside driver was approaching his front door. His truck was running. He was about to drive my car off. He had every right to tow the car. But he didn't. He said that he always puts the car down if he's approached while the car is still up, provided that he is treated with respect. Not having my car towed today changed the whole complexion of the day. This is the first time that I've ever had a positive experience with a tow company. read more

Nobody likes a tow if it means your car is broken down, but they showed up exactly when expected, were clear about the cost upfront, and tried to help us fix the problem without a tow. He was friendly and efficient. He recommended a shop to take it to, which was also helpful since we didn't know the area. read more

I was about one mile from their office and my car broke down at 5:10am on the way to the gym. I called because they say 24 hours but all the guy did was ask where I needed to have it towed to (Charlestown to Malden) and then he stated he couldn't tow me till after 7am! I explained my car broke down at a stoplight in the middle of the street and still he couldn't do anything. Don't call yourself 24 hrs when you're not. I would recommend Todisco's Towing in East Boston. They got to me in 20 mins and gave me a ride home on the way to the auto place so I didn't have to pay for a cab. read more

my husband's car got hit by this towing company. the driver refused to give out the register information. he even yelled at my husband saying that "he is not going to give out the register information before the similar situation happens to him almost everyday. " He was so aggressive. When I tried to call back and asked for the driver's info, the person who picked up the phone told me that my husband yelled at the driver. Of course, my husband yelled at him because the driver hit his car and refused to give out any info. We will not let it go. it belongs to "hit and run", it's criminal. My husband took picture of the license plate. He will fight to get the justice he deserves. The driver needs to take responsibility of what he did. read more

While retrieving my car and wondering how they towed it with the e-brake on, as my car was still locked, I watched in horror as one of the guys carelessly slammed the lift on the back of the lot's tow truck into the bottom grill of a Toyota Sienna (?) mini-van. He moved the Toyota and another car so I could squeeze out (barely). He apparently did not want to touch the Mercedes in front of me. I need to inspect my new tires. What a racket. read more

They searched the vehicle during the tow and stole all my valuable belongings and they're excuse was they are not responsible for my property. They are responsible for theft however. I just moved from other city in New York state. I didn't know there are tons of stupid and unrealistic parking laws in Boston. One day in winter, I got a ticket of $100 because of weather emergence, although there was no snow until I got the ticket. The policeman said there will be snow later night so weather emergency was already on. Ok, that was just a past story. This time, I didn't know I need a sticker from my apartment to be able to park at the resident parking, but I had been using a city parking permit that should allow me to park at most of place in Charlestown but not in some private places. But, nobody at the parking office in the city hall and at my apartment told me I need a stick from my apartment in addition to a city parking permit. It has been fine for a while without this stupid sticker. Finally, my car got towed by this company. I didn't realize my car towed away 5 days ago because I don't often drive. They asked me $300. The law and system are so bad. They should inform a person of towing before or after that. read more

we had a flat tire on our way home from work late in the evening. my husband jacked up the car,but was unable to get the tire off after working on it for an hour. i called around and everyone said it would be 11/2- 2 hours. i asked if they knew anyone else i could call. i was told to call Cityside. i called them and they were there in 5 minutes,got the tire changed, and charged us 20 dollars. he said "I,m not going to charge you the full price, because your husband did half the work". I have never met such a professional,fair and decent human being.I guess Anne Frank had it right when she said, despite it all, I think people are inherently still good. read more
