Them buns though!!! I bookmarked Leadbelly Burgers long ago when I read a list somewhere of Chicago's Best Burgers. So this year one of my resolutions is to go to all my bookmarked places. My friend wanted to go to Kuma's but we decided to come here since neither of us have been before. Leadbelly's is a top contender for top burger. I can't say it's the best because I haven't tried them all yet!!! We got the Black Betty and the Easy Rider and both were delicious. We also ordered the Parmesan Garlic fries. Those could've been a bit more crisp but we did come on a very busy Saturday night so I won't dock a star. Although they were packed, the service was still good and we didn't feel rushed to leave. The bun really stood out to me. So buttery and slightly crispy. It made the burger even better. I loved the flavor profiles each burger had to offer. I am not at all a blue cheese fan but I do like it with beef. And the Black Betty was perfect. Not overwhelming but you could still taste it. On the Easy Rider I loved the homemade sriracha pickles, they should fry those up and make them a side! My friend loved the beer variety they had to offer and she was super excited to see one her favorites from Three Floyd's in the cooler. I loved the butter cookie as a little sweet treat after dinner. Even though we were stuffed we couldn't resist those cookies. I will definitely be back soon to try another burger. But I will probably come on a weekday to avoid a long wait for a table and my food. Tried the Leadbelly burger and fresh cut fries. The burger was delicious, cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. The meat itself was a tasty mix of beef and pork, making for a truly succulent sandwich. The only thing that I might have changed is the bun. It was either too thick or maybe not the freshest it could have been. It made the ratio of meat and toppings to bun a little off. The fresh cut fries were yummy and plentiful. This will be a great place to enjoy the food once Covid lockdowns are lifted. I've finally made it here, even though this place is less than ten (10) minute-walk from my house. I may be a very healthy eater. I consume at least two (2) large apples a day for lunch so the doctor is definitely out my eyesight! By the way, their patty is made out of beef and pork. I know hubby's stomach doesn't befriend with Ms. Piggy, but he had no complaint with his "Good Night Irene," with crab meat on top of the beefy-porky patty to create an extra crunch. The burgers appeared greasy at first sight. I didn't think they were. The meat was actually very moist. I could tell that burgers offered at brgrbelly have a creative approach. For adventurous eaters like yourself, or in this case, Rosa J., you're in luck. In terms of value vs. quality, most burger entrees are within $11-$12. Hubby and I spent $33 and some change for two (2) burgers, one (1) order of garlic Parmesan fry, and two (2) bottles of soda. Thus, don't equate burgers you have at Brgrbelly to whatever that yellow giant "M" fast food restaurant assembles across the street. Cut those cheapo, synthetic-tasting burgers from these fast food restaurant chains five (5) days a month. The money you've saved from that junk will pay for a satisfying Brgrbelly burger. Their unlimited music videos on their dining room TVs were incredibly cool and amazing! EMF's "unbelievable" was on. And yes, this song is also on my Pandora playlist. Since the dine-in spaces are limited, carry-out seems to be a popular option. I personally will stick around for their music videos and bang my head with them like a rock star! read more

It's me. Again. Without photos but I will visit Brgr again and take one. I don't know how is this happening. Ok. I found out that fries with blue cheese is my absolutely fave. It is not so much heavy like I found parmesan one to be. Love it. Burgers, I tried a few. They are all good. Juicy, good quality meet. Homemade taste. My fave one is the one with goat cheese and truffle oil, arugula.. they all have funky names and I can not remember this one now. Most important is that this place is good. I dont like to just give 5 stars. But hey, they deserve it. Ps I love the fact that they dont have refills fountain. So they just bring you another can. Great food and great burgers and fries I would go everyday if I could but the prices are very high

This place lived up to the hype--and then some! The best burgers I have ever had, and it's not even close. I came here on the recommendation of the Missus (I'm very gay, but we're besties--and we are a team, ya know?), and I can tell you that it was worth the long drive from the South Side. Sure, the burgers were enormous, but more importantly, they tasted like no other burger I have ever had. I guess it's the high-quality meat they serve. Normally, I am a connoisseur of high-quality meat (see my note about being unstraight), but in this case, I am not sure what kind of meat it is (belly beef, or something like that?). All I know is that it's quality. As you chew the burger, you keep tasting the meat; it's like it keeps going off, like a firecracker. Does that make sense? It's tasty. Usually, after the first bite of something, you are not focused on the taste--you're mashing the material down--but with this food, you keep tasting it. We've got a pretty good burger place in the neighborhood, but it just doesn't compare to BRGRBELLY. Fries were fantastic, too. Homemade and delicious. Buns are homemade, too. All I can say is that my tastes are pretty plain, but not my wife's: She had a Black Betty and got a Goodnight Irene for the next day, and those have lots of other stuff (including a crab cake!) on them, and she raved about the other ingredients, too. Loved the ambiance of the place. The owners are really into music, and they play some sweet tunes over quality equipment. The walls are decorated with photos of every cool act you can think of. I can't wait until this stay-at-home thing is over, because I'd like to dine in. Also, BRGRBELLY is a good follow on Instagram. The owners are not only into music, but obviously intellectually bent--and hilarious! Classy and cool. The workers were totally cool, too. A small, hairy hippie took my order and there was a big guy with sideburns (ah . . . a boy can dream!!) working in the back. I felt really welcomed. I'm a pretty good judge of people--I can tell a blankety-blank from a mile away--and the people who run this place are quality folks. I'd go back just for that reason alone, but the burgers are the best I have ever had. And thanks for the complimentary cookies and the bottles of pop! Will I be making the drive from the Southwest Side to the Northwest Side again? I have twice so far! OMG! I could not wait to try this place for the longest time. I purchased the Groupon which overall saved me like 5.00 for the Portage Park location. Be careful that you're paying close attention to which location you're buying it from. There is also another one in Jefferson Park and they will not accept your Groupon for the other location. Once we got there, I super enjoyed the ambiance and overall vibe. They were playing music videos from 90s to 70s genre. LOVED it. They have a huge huge selection of beers I mean hugeeee. You go up to order and you take a seat while they give you a number and bring you your food. So I ordered the Black Betty medium which had bacon, bleu cheese, onion rings. It was cooked perfectly! The first couple bites were literally heaven! The combination of the cheese with the onion ring crunch was superb. However, when I got towards the end of the burger the bleu cheese just became overwhelming I mean there was just SO much of it. I would suggest to ask for it easy or on the side if they can. That's really my only complaint it got kind of soggy and just weird so I didn't finish the entire thing. The Parmesan garlic fries are a MUST! Perfectly crunchy full of flavor and everyone in the restaurant was also raving about the same fries. The customer service is amazing. Two women helped us throughout our whole dinner and they were super sweethearts and so so friendly. Because of this I'm really going for the 5 rather than a 4 just because of the ending experience with the burger this made up for it. We came here this past weekend to see if their burgers could really live up to the hype. Although I've kind of given up eating meat, boy gave his head nod of approval. He said it was better than Kuma's and even better than Au Cheval. He got the Leadbelly burger with fried egg, onion strings and mayo. I myself had a mushroom Leadbelly burger. The garlic parmesean fries were a little too greasy, but it had a great taste. Plus, it came with a free butter cookie! I'm not complaining, but perhaps let the customer know there's a nut in the cookie in case of peanut allergies? I enjoyed the trivia cards and shelf of condiments! I love BRGRBELLY; have been going for years and I recommend everything on the menu. The place is on the smaller size but they do have some small tables outside during the summer (once the Stay Home Order is over this is a great place to enjoy a summer evening. Otherwise, the burgers and fries travel well enough for you to take home. Burgers- I usually enjoy the Old Time Religion (Oven-roasted Roma tomato, goat cheese, arugula, truffle aioli) it's both burger goodness with fresh arugula and the goat cheese is a velvety smooth addition. My husband loves the Easy Rider (Smoked bacon, homemade sriracha pickles, cheddar cheese, bourbon BBQ sauce). It is very delicious and I love to steal bites. The Midnight Special (Pico de gallo, Chili-Cheese flavored Fritos and chipotle cream sauce) is amazing as well and goes well with the Chipotle fries. Next time we go I will definitely try the Good Night Irene (Fried crab cake, pico de gallo, spicy remoulade sauce served over a burger patty). Sounds delicious! Fries- Garlic Parm Fries (Tossed in our house-made fresh garlic and grated parmesan sauce) are delicious! I checked out this restaurant his week and I can tell you this won't be my last visit. I ordered my burger medium-rare and that's how it came to me. I had the "Amazing Grace" Burger. Damn, it was great. And keep ion mind it's A LOT of burger! I also ordered fries with parm and garlic. Really tasty. I also had some butter cookies that were fresh and very good. Again, a warning to come hungry. Their burgers are big and delicious. The inside of the restaurant looks really cool so I can't wait for the Shelter In Place rules to end. If you want a great burger, fries and shake this is the place for you! Made the trek out here last Saturday. It's a pretty small space with a couple TVs showing old rock concerts (it was Queen that night). You order at the counter and they bring the food out. Went with the Easy Rider burger, chipotle fry and berry shake. Soooo good! Burger was a good size and really tasty. Loved how the fry was covered in Fritos! And one hell of a milkshake to wash it down. More than anything I just appreciated how affordable everything was. Chicago has some great burgers but few are as good a value as BRGRBELLY. These beef/pork blend burgers are simply amazing. The buttery toasted bun is wonderful, and you can get either a signature burger or a top-your-own. We've tried Easy Rider, with smoked bacon, more bacon, homemade sriracha pickles, cheddar cheese, and bourbon bbq sauce. Midnight Special, with chili cheese Fritos, pico de gallo, and chipotle cream sauce (the fritos tasted better than I expected). The Gallows Pole, with caramelized mushrooms and onions, smashed taters, swiss cheese, bearnaise sauce. Amazing Grace, topped with smoked pork belly, crispy onion straws, homemade spicy sriracha pickles, carolina mustard BBQ. They're all delicious, but Joe's fave is the Amazing Grace, mine is the Gallows Pole. Garlic parm fries are ridiculously good. They serve sodas and some craft beers in bottles, and also adult milkshakes (haven't tried those yet). The seating is not fancy, and gets chilly due to doors opening directly into the restaurant (no vestibule to keep the cold out). We love, love, love the full-length music concerts playing on the TV. One time it was Guns'n'Roses, once Queen and once Johnny Cash. WAY better than sports! Oh, and the servers are friendly and even seem happy! Burgers and Rock really do go great together and this place definitely busts out the rock'n roll vibe. The restaurant is a lot smaller than I anticipated with only 6 tables and a row of counter seats along the front window. You order at the front counter & they give you a # for your table. They don't have a bar but you can order a beer or glass of wine. This was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. I'd say their overall 4.5 rating is well deserved. There are so many great sounding burgers on their menu it was hard to choose. I picked the Easy Rider with Bourbon barbecue sauce, cheddar, bacon & sriracha pickles. Hubby got the Black Betty with bleu cheese & bacon. They also make their own buns and they're awesome. I suspected the burgers would be messy & yes, they were. The very best burgers often are. They could stand to upgrade their napkins - just too minuscule to do the job. The Garlic Parmesan Fries were loaded with flavor but weren't crispy enough in both our opinions. We searched for the few that were very diligently. Considering you order at the counter, we actually got great service here. Brgrbelly, formerly Leadbelly, easily makes my Top 10 Burger List for Chicago area eats. I would even go as far as to put it in my Top 8, if I were still on Myspace. It's just so damn good! Their menu is somewhat limited, but I like it that way. They don't offer many options, but the options that are there provide a variety that's sure to please most. What do I really care when I always get the Old Time Religion and a side of Garlic Parm Fries? The OTR is just everything. It's a little sweet, a little acidic, and a lot of savory. Mixing in pork belly with beef leaves you with a burger that is so tender and juicy that you don't have to fear it failing to maintain it's flavor on the drive from Portage Park to Wood Dale. The fries don't hold up so well, but at least they don't go completely soggy. There's also the choice to eat them there when they are fresh. My Husband likes to "throw an egg on it," so he pretty much exclusively gets the House of the Rising Son and a side of Belly Fries. We tried the Chipotle Fries recently and I was a fan of those too, but I'll be sticking to Garlic Parm in the future. We've also had the Polish Fry, and you just can't go wrong with anything here. Yelp asked if this place is good for kids. Yes and no? They don't have a kids' menu. I think they do have highchairs and booster seats, though. At the very least, if you've got a "mini me" who appreciates a good burger and shake (like Aimee M's son, whose company I enjoy more than most adults'), I recommend it. Very tiny place, and tough to find a seat if you want to eat in. The middle aged man that rang us up was very pleasant, so he brings this review up a star. I really enjoyed my "Black Betty" burger, and it was very tasty. The fries were absolutely disgusting. The greasiest I have every had in my life. They were dripping grease. For some reason, the restaurant was blasting some strange concert, like a play or a musical, on all of their TV's, and I had to scream at my date to convey anything to her. BEST! BURGER! EVER! WOW...I am still thinking about BRGRBELLY (formally, Leadbelly) and I ate here a couple weeks ago, but it feels like FOREVER! I don't even know where to begin! I'm getting a little giddy just thinking about this place! :) I'll start by saying their burger patty is not your traditional beef patty! It is WAY better...it has pork in it! The addition of pork adds wonderful flavor to the burger! You don't even need fancy toppings to enjoy it! The bun is unreal too! They bake them fresh everyday! They have a good selection of burgers that offer a variety of toppings...something suitable for various palettes! I decided to go with the original Leadbelly which has cheese, LTO, and homemade sriracha pickles. Sounds boring, I know....but the taste was AMAZING!!!! Like I said, the burger patty is tasty and doesn't need a whole lot to satisfy you. It's also made to order. I ordered mine well done and it was cooked perfectly -not burnt and dry! I can't imagine what would happen to my taste buds if I had one of the specialty burgers! :) A party in my mouth...I think so! My husband ordered the Amazing Grace which had smoked pork belly, crispy onions, sriracha pickles, and this Carolina BBQ mustard! It looks amazing and I know he enjoyed it!
