WOW, what a beef and fresh cut fries!! I took my cousin to the one on Milwaukee, and he loved it. The beef was huge, along with the generous portion of sweet peppers. We both had it ez dipped as well. And how about those fries!! What a great complement to the big beef. Oh, and they had a big squeeze bottle of ketchup for the fries so no dealing with little packets. ITs the small stuff that goes a long way at Bob-Os!! read more

Well, what can I say about BobO's. It's definitely worth a visit! This is their new spot, right off Milwaukee and close to Devon. The place itself is small and no-frills. It has just simple tables where you sit down, eat, and go. It's got a bit of that industrial, old-school vibe, and honestly, that works perfectly here. Prices are fair, and the focus is exactly where it should be: the food. They're well-known for their beef, but I've got to admit. I actually enjoy the sausages even more. The grilled sausages are flavorful and satisfying, though the beef is still solid, especially compared to other spots around town. If you're coming here for the first time, I'd say give the beef a try since it's their claim to fame, but don't sleep on those sausages. I'm glad they opened this new location since the original one is a bit farther west near Cumberland and Irving. This spot is much more convenient for me since I pass through the area often. All in all, Bob's is a quick, tasty stop that hits the spot without trying too hard and that's exactly why I like it. read more

Bob-O’s Italian Beef - Sept 2025 - Hot Dogs Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I use to love this place for the beefs been coming here since day one finally got a good beef joint in norwood park /gladstone park area ,the beefs were big full of meat and flavor dipped right every time never had a bad beef very consistent but can't ever say that for the Italian sausage or polish they always are undercooked a recipe for food poison thy need to train these cooks how to properly cook sausage it's not good here : back to the beef the last time a couple weeks ago ordered a beef with fries I was shocked that there was hardly any beef in the sandwich hence wheres the beef; not properly dipped lacking flavor ok maybe the cook was not on top of his game I sucked it up loss of money totally dissatisfied, ok walk in yesterday give it another shot benefit of the doubt deal , to my disbelief the same crap beef with hardly any meat all bread and sweet peppers even that was short , not to mention the fries were undercooked , the beefs I've ordered in the past month were terrible idk if the cook is new maybe new owners but I got ripped off twice in a row on something tht was bs, therefore Im giving up in this joint it went from best to worse pretty overnight for me .it sucks cause of the convenience of me living in the area , il never order a beef from this place again il travel a lil bit down the road to jays where the beef is generous and the cooks take more pride and know how to cook the meats properly ! read more

Been to this place more than a few times with pleasure & joy.. but today was a disappointment. My beef wasn't consistent nor my fries with what I've become accustomed to receiving here. I think I'll return to the milwaukee location. What a orld of difference read more

Since I first visited Bob-O's, I've fallen in love with this place. It's a drive from my place but worth it. I've tried the Italian Beef and the pork chop sandwich. Both were flavorful and let's not forget I had to order those super fresh cut fresh fries. I had my Italian beef dipped with hot peppers. The meat was tender and the gravy was seasoned extremely well. The giardiniera was crunchy with the right amount of heat. They should jar it and sell it. Secondly, the pork chop sandwich was grilled to perfection, I chose to top mine with mustard, grilled onions and hot peppers. It was grilled and juicy. The grilled onions had some bite and not mushy. This is a boneless chop, so feel free to gobble it up. Once again those fries give me life. No ketchup required. The staff is always so friendly and even the people that was waiting was friendly as we struck up a conversation. I also was able to talk to the owner and he's super chill. I still have a couple of items I want to try, I will definitely be back. read more

New location , same great food and price. Stopped in and had lunch with a buddy I had a sausage sandwich and he had a dog and fries. Excellent visit read more

So I had a huge craving for a char dog . I have passed this place for a while and decided to give it a try. I ordered online, my order was two char dogs with grilled onions and a side of fries. The dogs actually came with fries , but I figured it was nit enough and wanted a side. Well I was wrong about the fries , it was a huge amount that came with the dog. And the side fries and at least a half pound of fries. The hotdogs were chard nicely , not over done . It was really good , one dog with fries was enough for a lunch . I ate the second one the next day , it was still really good . The price for the dogs was actually a good deal . I would definitely try something else there. They have some seating along the windows, for a quick bite . Staff were very nice , my order was double wrapped in two bags and my food was hot and fresh . Definitely give them a go. read more

First time visiting the establishment and it was super fast to order and they accept debit/credit cards. Just so you know Cash is always preferred. The restaurant has some sitting along the windows of the restaurant. The food was cooked to order and everything tasted nice and fresh. The Maxwell street polish had a nice crunch to it and the sport peppers are no joke. Will definitely come back to try other items. read more

Great spot to grab an Italian beef! Bob-O's won the WGN 2024 Best Italian Beef in Chicago challenge! It is a delicious Italian beef! They have an option on the menu called the trio which definitely recommend. It is 3 mini sandwiches; Italian beef, meatball, and Italian sausage. I tried the pork chop sandwich for the 1st time; it was awesome! Definitely recommend checking it out! Good prices at Bob-O's! read more

Food is great! Cashier service not good at all. There is this lady with bad attitude attending clients. I showed up 10 min before closing and I get it she wants to go home like everyone else and says "We had no business the whole day and now people wants to show up" like if she doesn't like her job, why is she there? It's not the first time it happens. Hopefully ownership can deal with this because no wonder they no business the whole day if people already knows who is working there. Thanks read more

Not much of a menu and beef is extremely dry. Not my place. My boyfriend gave it about a one star. read more

Yeah, I'ma have to give it to this spot. They're #1 in Chicago for Italian beefs. Portillos ain't got nothing on them. This is a joint where you don't have to wait long & they have plenty of space to sit & enjoy. I asked for my sandwich to be lightly dipped & that's just how I got it. But the clincher is their fries. What they give you is a meal in itself. Next time I go, I WON'T order fries because I don't want them to go to waste. So my advice is to have someone accompany you & y'all SPLIT an order of fries. But back to the beef. It's tasty & not too heavy. I plan on going back to order a lb of beef to take home. I think I'll go back there in the next week on my way to work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! read more

Sadly I didn't get to eat here so I can't speak for the food. I went there at 7:20 PM Friday night and was told the dining room room, which is only counters and stools, was closed and it would be takeout only because customers stay late sometimes. Considering they closed at 8 PM this seems like an excuse. Never ran into that before anywhere. And I worked in fast food for 13 years. read more

Had to try the Beef. It was very good. Homemade Beef makes a difference Giardinera was not as crispy as Johnnies. I will skip the fries next time. read more

Bob-o's is located in the building that used to be Roma's beef . Bobo's beef is truly one of the best around , tender thinly sliced beef soaked in a roll with well seasoned gravy . Came for the beef, added hot and sweet peppers. Juice in the side as I don't like my bread swimming in softness. Also ordered a side of fries. The sandwich was wonderful, beef was tender the combo of the peppers and juice complemented the beef - overall high marks, one of the best beef sandwiches I've had. The fries were good, could have been more well done, next time I'll ask for extra crispy. Price/value was on point, definitely recommend Bob-O's read more

Bob-O’s Italian Beef - Bob-O's - Hot Dogs Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I have been eating Italian Beefs in Chicago as long as I have been shopping at the Jewels. We hoofed it over to Bob-O's after a pre season youth Football scrimmage at Taft H.S, Go Northwest Blue Eagles. Is it worth the hype? Absolutely, had the Beef with Hot and Wet. All I can say is "Fantastic", old school fresh cut fries, and an Italian Ice to cap it off. I understand why they won Chicago's Best, wish I had tried it sooner. Oh, try the barbecue beef, sandwich it's a half a pound and only $3.00 when on special. You Go Glenn Coco, I'll be back! read more

I have been a huge fan of Italian beef for as long as I can remember. Grew up going to the legendary spots, Mr Beef on orleans as well as the one in Harlem Ave which has changed due to new ownership. Al's on Taylor st which is the only Al's location you should be going to. Jays beef in Harwood heights, but I only learned of Bob-Os last year. Tried out the Irving Park location and loved it. So a couple months ago Bob O's opened on Milwaukee Ave in Norwood park. I can't get enough of this place. Incredible Italian beef and incredible Italian sausage. Try it out and you won't be disappointed. Wish I knew about them earlier. The place is the bomb. I go hot dipped on the beef and juicy sweet on the sausage. read more

Great depression hot dog! Service eas awesome. Glad to have them on Milwaukee Ave. French fries are delicious and come with hot dog.

very friendly staff food was great definitely go back telling beef was probably one of the better ones. I've had in a long time.

Very good throwback beef. This is what a beef should taste like. I would of gave it five stars but not a fan of the giardiniera.

Took long enough for them to open. But very very well worth the wait. I think this location is better than the Irving Park place. The prices are very reasonable. The beef sandwich is so tasty. They could be slightly bigger but who's complaining? One time I ordered the beef and sausage combo and it was one of the best I've ever had. Their sandwiches are among the best I've had. The fries are addictive. Just get a big bag of fries if you don't want a meal. The fries could be your meal. Very laid back atmosphere. Just your everyday neighborhood folks enjoying great food. read more

Don't pass on this place! The beef is amazing ...way better than anything in the area. The fries are some of the best I've had, hand cut and fried to order. Please go!!! read more

After all the hype I was disappointed. Got a beef wet sweet and fries. Fries were my favorite part. Beef was...fine.

The Milwaukee Ave Bob-O's to me is the epitome of CLASSIC old school Chicago fast food. The depression dog is everything you love about Gene & Judes but with crispier fries which gives Bob-O's (and Rand Red Hots) at leg up. The beef and combo are among the best you'll get in the city. The beef is super tender and well seasoned, just don't ask for cheese because this location keeps it old school. A nice bonus is the meatball sandwich incase you feel like something different. If you're a fan of Maxwell St. style polish or pork chop sandwiches you won't be disappointed. Superdawg is now the second best hotdog on Milwaukee between Elston & Devon. read more

Was absolutely worth the drive! The Italian beef sandwich was perfection--juicy, flavorful, and piled high. The Chicago dog? Spot on, with all the classic toppings done right. Honestly, it's better than their neighbors (yeah, I said it). If you're looking for authentic Chicago eats, Bob-O's is the place to go. Can't wait to come back! read more
