Charly's Burgers has been on my list for a while now. Today we got it checked off! The storefront restaurant is on Cicero just south of Fullerton.  There is metered street parking but that is about it. We arrived just after they opened on a Saturday morning and had no issues with parking. Charly's was not opened for more the 10 minutes, and they already had 8 to go orders being cooked when we were at the counter. The menu is very basic; 5 burgers, a Polish Sausage,  and a Chicago Style hot dog. You can upgrade your burger by adding an additional patty, bacon, an egg - cooked to order, or cheese sauce. You can make it a meal with hand cut fries and a drink. All drinks are cans or bottles so no refills at $3. You can upgrade your fries by adding Cajun seasoning or cheese sauce. The also have something call Charly Fries (loaded fries with a hamburger patty) at $14. I went with the Charly Burger: two six-ounces beef with bacon (90/10) patties, cheese, grilled onions, and a pickle. Apparently, all their burgers meals are served in a Styrofoam containers, even if you are eating there. As it turns out that was a good thing as there was no way I could eat this whole thing. $15 burger and you have a second or even third meal for home. We were there for around an hour and all their other customers were to go orders. There are two tables for four people and a row of stools along the window (you can look at all the lemmings at McDonald's right across the street while you enjoy your substantial juicy burger).  The Cajun seasoning was a tasty upgrade, next time I will try the Cajun seasoning WITH the cheese sauce. The atmosphere was rustic and basic. The staff were nice and genuinely happy to see us eating in the restaurant. Absolutely coming back. read more

12/04/25 - I've been wanting to try this burger for awhile but never seemed to be able to be in the area while it was open. Charly's Pina Burger - 6 oz Patty (90% beef & 10% bacon), Chihuahua cheese, Jalapeños. Grilled pineapple & garlic aioli. Even though the burger isn't 1/2 lb what it lacks in size makes up for it in the ingredients inside the burger. Good inexpensive burger for $10. Combo is $13 for a burger, fries & a drink. We recently grabbed takeout from Charly's, and every bite proved why this spot has such a devoted following. The Juicy Burger lived up to its name--rich, cheesy, and beautifully layered with their signature garlic sauce. The real star, though, was the pickles. Their sharp, bright crunch cut through all that richness and tied the whole burger together perfectly. The Charly Burger stayed true to the restaurant's vibe: bold, indulgent, and packed with flavor. If you're someone who loves a deeply savory, full-bodied burger, this one delivers in spades. For something more unexpected, La Piña was the standout. The roasted pineapple introduced a unique sweet heat that paired surprisingly well with the savory elements of the burger. It felt inventive without being gimmicky. We also tried the Maxwell Polish, which was a delicious, hearty mouthful. The caramelized onions absolutely smothered it--in the best way--and added that perfect touch of sweetness. Great spot for burgers. Price is very affordable, the menu is small and simple and the staff is great. They do tend to get busy at times, so the burgers don't come out as fast but it's definitely worth the wait. We ordered the Juicy Burger, All American Burger and their La Pina Burger. The Piña Burger was my favorite out of the three. It came with a grilled pineapple, chihuahua cheese, jalapeño and garlic aioli. Very very delicious burger and would order this again and again. The juicy burger was also pretty good. That came with grilled onions and cheese. We also ordered a side of fries and those were good as well. They were hand cut and tasted fresh. Small burger shop with amazing burgers and fries. My first time here I got the La Pina burger with grilled pineapple, jalapeño, garlic aioli and chihuahua cheese! Incredible flavor combo. 6oz burger mixes with ingredients and doesn't try to be one of these bougie burger places that think you want to eat a pound of beef. Extra Pattie's are available should you be ravenous. The hand cut fries are plentiful as a side. With a can of soda your at $13 plus tax. Take that burger chain value meal. I've been hankering to try Charly's Burgers in Belmont Cragin for some time, I finally got a chance to last Friday. Just to let you know there's going to be a longer than usual wait time for your food order. About 90% is take-out, there's only four stools and two benches to wait for your carry-out order. I ordered their "Juicy Lucy" Burger Combo for $15.00. comes with a good sized amount of fries and a soda pop in a can (Pepsi products only). The burger is huge with the "works" sauteed onions,cheese, dill pickles and special sauce. It's worth going there once to experience it. OK music but it a little too loud for me. read more

If you're a burger hunter like me, this place is a must-stop. They have a basic menu and do their burgers right. I got the Charly's Burger, and it was fantastic--awesome flavor, really juicy, and served nice and hot. The only thing keeping Charly's from receiving five stars was my experience on a 90+ degree day. The front door was open, so it was hot inside. On top of that, the bottle of water I was craving cost $3 for a small 12 oz bottle. Service was good because they make the bugers by request. It says well done on the menu but you could never tell because of how juicy they are. The warm temperature and small water bottle aside, I will 100% return to this place and tell my friends to come here because the burgers are so on point! read more

Solid burger with a good solid bun to hold everything together. The place is pretty much a grab and go place though with limited seating. Everything is cooked fresh so call in the order ahead of time. Also the hand cut fries are stellar. The do only have Pepsi products which seemed silly when everything is cans. read more

To start off fries aren't good. They lack flavor! The juicy burger tastes like wanna-be Maxwell burger. The pena was not what I expected - fair taste. But I would be just as happy with a McDonald's cheeseburger! Won't visit again. read more

Wanted to find a quick burger place and wasn't going to be any chain. Charley's came up on yelp and it was on my way and it was very good. Burger could feed 2 but very fresh and seasoned well. Fries were excellent fresh cut and cooked to perfection with a nice crunch to them but still not overcooked It took a bit but I could see I was behind I a a couple of big orders so good things take time. excellent food and service and a few stools to sit and gaze at the happenings on Cicero avenue if you decide to dine in. Heard this was one of Chicago's best burgers so we had to check it out... It was counter service take out only. Be prepared to eat in your car or take food back to your house. Trust us you'll be glad you did!! What a home run burger! We went with Charly's Burger and it was simply spectacular. The 90/10 beef bacon blend lends to one of the most juicy, flavorful, burgers we've had in a while. Went in with pretty high expectations and this place exceeded them - perfection. This place took my breath away!! I haven't had an amazing burger in a long time!! They are only doing take-out and delivery options as of right now. Me and my bf ordered take-out and it was still so fresh by the time we got home. The outside/inside of the restaurant is nice! I like their aesthetic despite furniture being rearranged because of covid. I totally get hipster vibes haha. The woman at the register was so nice which contributed to my good experience. I ordered the "Juicy Lucy" burger combo which comes with fries and a drink. I love the unique way they label their takeout boxes! They have a customized sticker where they check off which burger is in the box! I love the little details in things. Portion size is alot and I'm surprised I finished my entire meal. Solid burgers at a very reasonable price. I wish they were open little later on Saturdays but still fine. Owner is very nice and provides great service. Small place, has some stool seating. I got the charly bigger combo. It was 15 dollars roughly, which includes fries and a drink and I also got a cup of cheese sauce. Extremely reasonable and they grind their own meat instead of frozen patties. Highly recommended. read more

Let's start with the good - 1. Super Clean place 2. Staff is really nice (seems to be the couple that own this place) 3. Burgers were delicious! We ordered 1 All American Burger as a combo but upgraded to cheese fries and ordered 1 Charlys burger - just the burger. Both the burgers were super juicy and you can tell from the pics - huge patties. The 90/10 patty - you can definitely taste the bacon in the burger. I added the Charlys sauce to my All American and it was delicious. The bad? Probably minor to most, but major for me. I. Love. Cheese. Fries. These ones though? No. The cheese was awful and I'm not even sure what it's made of but just no. Please owners, if you're reading this, change the cheese sauce! Anyways, we'll def be back for another burger! read more

I'll make this quick: amazing food. The burgers are legit and the fries are maybe the best in Chicago (don't hurt me, Red Hot Ranch!). $11 for my La Pina combo meal (burger, Chihuahua cheese, jalapeno, garlic aioli, and maybe the biggest slice of pineapple I've ever seen on a sandwich, fries, can of soda) was a great deal and a ton of food. So why the one-star knock? As of June 18th, you can't dine in at Charly's. Can't eat on the window shelf looking out onto Cicero, no tables available. It feels like we are post-COVID in most parts of the city, but at Charly's, it still feels like fall 2020. And since there is literally nowhere to sit outside, or get to nearby, you do what I did for my meal: eat with two friends on the hood of their car. In 2-3 months, maybe this will be different. But if you are taking this to go, this is probably the best burger you're going to get in this part of town! read more

3.5 stars to be honest but since we don't have that option I always round up. That being said, this is a solid little joint, burgers were super juicy and ingredients fresh. The menun is really small and I was bummed that they were out of the Chicago dog I was craving. I instead went with the Charley burger, it was tasty and sizable but it was accompanied by some less than stellar fries. My husband thinks I'm crazy but in my mind a burger spot is only as good as its fries and burger not just one or the other. They were hand cut but under seasoned and honestly felt a bit stale. Don't get me wrong, they fried them fresh and hot but they had an odd taste, like old oil. This is definitely not a reason to skip this spot but hope that they will modify the fries a bit before our next visit.
