This place is absolutely delicious!!!! Everything we had was spectacular. I had the supreme chorizo hash (and added goat cheese). I took one bite and melted. Woowowow. Also shared the crepes. Yum yum yum. The boyfriend got chicken and waffles which he gave a 7/10. read more

Food at the Breakfast House is AMAZING! It's their lack of customer service that always brings them down. I highly enjoyed ordering delivery and not dealing with the waitstaff during covid. Several years ago, my +1 and I sat at the counter. They were slammed so we didn't push much to get refills on drinks or inquire about our order. But when we saw customers that arrived after us leaving, something was wrong. We were at the counter! Right in front of the waitstaff. And our order was never put thru to the kitchen. I never returned. As mentioned, I ordered delivery often during covid. So once restaurant capacity was relaxed, I gave them another try. Really???!!! Again? We were seated and had our meal. Then placed an order to go. Well you know it. The waitress remembered to charge me, but didn't put the order thru. Waited nearly 30 additional minutes. I'll stick to delivery. read more

Disappointing and awkward ending.. Brought my friend to Breakfast House on Irving for the first time. When checks arrived after dining, my friend asked for 3% surcharge to be removed. Server said he could not remove it unless she paid in cash. Neither of us had cash with us, so reluctantly paid the surcharge. Got home and checked their website and it states customer can request for surcharge to be removed. Breakfast House, which is it- can surcharge before removed or not?? In general, these surcharges need to end. Day to day costs have gone up not only for businesses, but for individuals as well. Also, while owners benefit from the surcharges, the servers are likely to get less in tips. As a consumer, I will frequent establishments that do not have this extra charge. read more

We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was busy but we were seated right away. They have us our menus and water right away. The service was amazing and they were all very friendly and accommodating. They offered us a high chair as well. The food we ordered came quickly!! It was hot and very delicious. I had the original Benedict. It came with potatoes. The eggs were perfect and the potatoes delicious. My husband got the chilaquiles and they were amazing!! We also ordered the children's French toast with strawberry and it was surprisingly good. The portions were really big as well. Can't wait to come back! read more

Been here a few times and food is great. I'm not sure if I can ever order anything else now that I've had their chiliqueles! All components are amazing! Intelligencia coffee is so tasty also. Don't be fooled by how it looks on the outside. In the inside it looks so nice. The staff were nice and welcomed us. The food is a 10/10, and to admit it's better than IHOP. read more

4.5 stars This was the first place I went directly from the airport upon arriving in Chicago. It was delightful. I fell in love with Intelligentsia coffee because of this place. I had some sort of corn cake meal with ham and potatoes. It was different than anything I'd ever eaten for breakfast. The place is not that big and started to fill up quickly by the time I left at 10am on that Saturday, but the staff and service was prompt. I definitely recommend this spot! read more

The chorizo hash is very good and filling. I think it would be better with scrambled eggs though, instead. It is a pretty small restaurant, so expect a wait. You can also BYOB! Pretty reasonably priced too for Chicago. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would.. wait time was 30 mins (which was not a problem) after being seated it took our server, Fernando, 30 minutes (not exaggerating) to take our order. We waived down another server to get our drinks and he said that our server would be with us shortly. My mom and I were starving so we waited. We should have left because we waited another 10 mins for our drinks. Once we ordered we waited another 20 mins for food to be served so we waited almost a full hour for pancakes and eggs. Our pancakes were both undercooked and very doughy, the bacon was burnt and the scrambled eggs were really runny. Fernando did not once come back to the table after food was served. Overall the service was terrible and food was not great. Would not be returning or recommending. read more

I eat here a lot as I work around the corner was a little disappointed recently in the pickup experience as I am pregnant and they wouldn't give me a seat while I was waiting for my food. I was a regular here for sometime coffee in the mornings. I would come here on Sundays with family and friends. Then on my birthday they refused me and my son service because we would not share private and personal medical procedures we chose not to take . It is a shame that they chose to refuse us service. Never again will I set foot here or recommend anyone. read more

Went here for breakfast with my family. The food and service was exquisite. We got a variety of food from the hash, Chilaquiles to the chefs special crepes. All these items were exceptional in texture, taste and presentation. The kids who usually are very picky got pancakes and they loved these as well! The staff was very accommodating and the service was above and beyond. Definitely coming back! read more

Went to Breakfast House on a Sunday morning with my husband and our friends. It was pretty crowded, but luckily the wait was only about 15 minutes. They take your phone number which is nice, so you can wait in your car if you want. The place is pretty small and there isn't much room to stand at the front. We finally got our call and our tummys were very excited! As you walk in, there is a front room and a back room. We were seated towards the back which is a nice area and isn't as loud as the front. The menu has a good amount of options, but isn't overwhelming! I did find a few things I wanted to try and finally made a decision! I went with the supreme chorizo hash which had their house potatoes, eggs, peppers, onions, corn, chorizo, guacamole, and a chipotle aioli. Now, most breakfast places have a chorizo skillet or something along those lines. I have to say that this is the BEST I have ever had! The chorizo was perfection! It wasn't greasy! There wasn't a layer of oil at the bottom of my plate, which was awesome! :) The potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly! The proportion of all items were perfect! I can taste it now! :) On the side, I ordered a short stack of banana pancakes. Oh my...they were so light and fluffy!!! I shared them with my husband and I secretly wish I ordered them just for myself. I guess it's not a secret anymore...lol! I washed it all down with sips of Intelligentsia coffee. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and I believe he enjoyed it. I was a bit consumed by my meal to really ask him...haha. I cannot wait to go back and try the chilaquiles which is a house specialty! If the supreme chorizo hash was as good as it was, I can't imagine how good a house specialty is! You can tell they use good quality ingredients! The service was good and friendly. Our server was the right amount of attentive! I was at a trendy "place to be" kind of place for brunch the day before and I left not feeling satisfied and having dropped a good amount of money! The Breakfast House has great food at a reasonable price...exactly what I like! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and can't wait to go back! read more

My first experience was okay. I definitely think I caught them on an off day. Since then, I LOVE coming here. I usually tag along with my daughter who loves the silly face pancake and our sometimes server Roberto (I hope that's right). But she also loves everyone else and so do I. The food is AMAZING and I never have any complaints about that. This is a small local hidden gem and I support it 100%. It definitely has the small "this is family" feel and that's something you can not get everywhere. Each and every time I come, I am greeted warmly, taken care of promptly and leave FULL. read more

I decided to stop in on a Thursday morning since I was in the area. This was my first time here and based on all the other yelp reviews I chose to try the Supreme Chorizo Hash! OMG when I say that was thee best thing I've ever had! The combination of the veggies, chorizo, egg, and lawd the aioli! Talk about a party in my mouth leading to the feeling of paradise in my stomach! The hash came with one pancake and I got a side of bacon but I could've just eaten the hash! This place was delicious. We had 8 people and most of us ordered something different. There wasn't a bad plate on the table. The steak and eggs looked amazing. The chorizo and mash (which I and 2 others got) was also done to perfection. Across the table was a vanilla waffle with fresh fruit and was complimented "the best waffle I've ever had". The orange juice is fresh squeezed and caught me off guard in a positive way. I feel like you could close your eyes and point at something and it would be the bees knees. The service was prompt and respectful. Our waiter was a bit stern but in a way you could tell he wanted no mistakes. Everyone's food came out at the same time and no one complained of it being cold. Bottom line is if you want an amazing breakfast you won't soon forget, sit down here and enjoy. read more

The place is a delicious local spot. People are friendly. We had the chicken and waffles and the breakfast burrito. Chicken was delicious but could have been a little saltier. Waffle was a little too spongy. The burrito was absolutely delicious! Would definitely go back . I love this place because they make solid food in general. You can't go wrong with anything you get here...whether it be breakfast or lunch. I keep it simple and always get scrambled eggs with bacon, potatoes, and a side order of fruit along with a short stack of pancakes. I don't leave the place without eating everything on my plate . I also love getting the freshly squeezed orange juice here. The waitresses here are very sweet and accommodating. The place is tiny but there is hardly ever a wait, which is great especially for us people who get angry and impatient when we are hungry lol. Downside to the Breakfast House is that is closes at 3pm. If you are one of those people who like late breakfasts, then you might have some trouble getting here in time, like myself. But, I guess that's not really a huge problem for most people. Overall, this is one of my favorite breakfast places in Chicago that serves solid food! read more

New favorite breakfast spot? I THINK SO. Have passed this place so many times not knowing what I was missing. Service was great and fast even after having to put my name down on the waiting list- they even let you know if something you order might take longer because they make it fresh. The food was so good and fresh/hot. So much good flavor and you could tell it wasn't frozen breakfast food heated up but real food from scratch. Even the berries seemed perfect!! Our server was very sweet as well. My only critique is that I wish it was bigger because once it gets cold outside, we won't be able to sit outside which means long waiting on a list. Line was constantly out the door which is always a good sign. Can't wait to try more on the menu!! read more

Amazing! The food is out of this world. Would recommend the fried chicken sandwich and the chorizo hash for breakfast! I love the fact that we were able to put our name on the list prior to our arrival. Once we sat down, everyone was very attentive and aimed to please. We had the chilaquiles (DELICIOUS), the burrito with chorizo, and a BLT. I then added a short stack of pancakes too! All the dishes were a large portion and cooked to perfection! AND it's BYOB! Winner winner! I'll definitely come back. read more

Very humble and low key storefront. Looks like your run of the mill neighborhood breakfast place from the outside. The inside is very nicely decorated for a breakfast place. There is a little upscale feel to the place. The food was good. Simple but done well. I had the egg white frittata and it was a lot of food. The frittata was cooked nicely and was not greasy. My friend had the huervos rancheros and she finished everything and said it was tasty, the right amount of food and not heavy in the stomach. I took off a star due to the waiter. He forgot about my juice order and also was kinda rude with their "no substitutions" policy. I had asked if I could get something other than pancakes or toast since those came with my dish. He looked annoyed and said something like, the food is the food, can't change anything, it is what is is. I guess I've never had anyone make me feel bad about asking for different options on the side dish. Plenty of places don't allow substitutions but they explain it without making me feel bad for just asking. read more

I came in on. Saturday afternoon after my boxing class around the corner (Oakley FightClub). I wanted to eat big after a good workout. I found this little gem on yelp and decided to stop in. I immediately saw the "chef special" and decided that's what I wanted. Venue: the space is not that big in the front area but nice and quant for small groups. There is seating also at the counter, diner style. There is a back section for a larger group and also outside seating. Service: my server was young and a little timid but took care of me. He forgot to bring my fresh squeezed juice but I had so much food I didn't need it anyway. There is also outside seating in front and on the side. Food: everything was on point and I actually have nothing negative to say. The southwest scrambler was very tasty. The pancakes were great w the bananas and whip cream topped them excellently. The chicken sausage was good w a little crunch to it and cooked well. I would definitely come back and bring friends and recommend this little gem to everyone. Enjoy! read more
