Stopped in at noon on a Saturday in August and was sat right away for a table of two. Both indoor and outdoor seating was available. Food was excellent. Way better than expected from a low key environment. We would highly recommend coming for a great, easy brunch on the weekends. Meals ran around $15 each.
Perfect breakfast and lunch spot in West Town! Super friendly staff and the food is amazing in this cozy spot. They have a very large menu with all the breakfast favorites as well as long list of lunch items! The place is small but does not feel overcrowded. Come for the food stay for the hospitality! Pro Tip: order a single pancake on the side to try them, so good!
The huevos rancheros was good...just wish for $13.50 plus tax and total $14.96 I got a side like hash browns or potato's or something on the side. Otherwise the food is good and not salty and seasoned just right. Street parking only on a busy street. Free unless it's M-F 4-6pm. See sign. And the food was ready for pickup in 10-15 min as promised.
Amazing breakfast food! Every time! Love the Intelligencia Coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.
I have often heard good things about Breakfast House and have been wanting to try for some time. I just now realized there are multiple locations as I came on Yelp to write this review. My first experience was via Door Dash order in which I've done twice. I first ordered the Croissant Sandwich which was really good! It includes virginia ham, white cheddar and scrambled eggs on a grilled croissant along with a side of roasted potatoes. Its a nice size as well...like shareable! I also ordered the egg white omelet in which it was ok...also came with the side of potatoes and could be shared. I actually came by to check out the actual restaurant and its your normal everyday diner. Staff is very nice and gives menu tips if asked. I got the Breakfast House Hash and was very excited about it. Unfortunately it lacked the flavor I thought it would have. The dish includes two poached eggs atop a mix of chicken sausage, andouille sausage, roasted potatoes, onions, and red peppers. I had to douse in hot sauce and it helped but still didn't really do it for me. Big enough to be shared. I would come back and try again but would definitely bring someone as portion sizes are very big.
First time visit. I was intrigued by the Cornmeal Cakes on the menu. The place was packed, but I was able to sit at the counter. Service, food, coffee and vibe was great. I will be back.
Food is amazing and service aswell. The Eggplant soup is the best a must try. Came in for breakfast and will be back to try lunch thats for sure.... Give it a 10 out of 10.
Solid breakfast spent at Breakfast House. We went around 9:15 on a Sunday and got a table immediately. Friendly staff. Fresh squeezed OJ: 5/5 Breakfast Burrito: 4.5/5 (the sauce on it is delicious, but I would suggest getting it on the side so it's not so hard to eat!) Pancakes: 3/5 (just very average)
I'm BACK! Here for another conference had to stop in in-person. It was amazing as I expected it to be. The service was fast and hospitable. The location was situated nicely and very clean and fresh. The food was again a 10/10. I brought my son and he left no crumbs on his huge Nutella waffle plate. You guys are amazing.
The Breakfast house is a quaint little place on the corner of W Grand and N Wood. The meal I had was delicious. The service was prompt and everyone is very pleasant and kind. I recommend this place to everyone.
Amazing service and the food was great. One of the best pancakes I've ever had which says a lot since I have had many different pancakes from Chicago. The hash was delicious but a bit heavy on the sodium. Overall great food and will definitely be back
Sour cream pancakes are out of this world! I don't like fluffy cake-like buttermilk pancakes so I'm always on the hunt for something more like sourdough pancakes. The sour cream pancakes here are thin like crepes, super soft and mine were served piping hot! I got a side of bacon also. The berry compote served with the pancakes is good but I didn't finish mine as the taste of the pancakes reigned supreme! Ambiance of restaurant is great and service was quick and friendly. Sorry the photo shows them half eaten but I wanted to demonstrate the thinness of the pancakes. Again, these are more like crepes than fluffy buttermilk pancakes (which are gross anyway!)
While looking for a good breakfast while staying in the area, we stumbled across the breakfast house. We were worried about the wait but when we walked in we were able to sit in a couple of minutes! I would say plan accordingly because the line was looong when we left. The food here was amazing! I enjoyed the Supreme Chorizo Hash, that had literally all of the flavors and included guacamole (I love). With this meal you get the option to have toast or their fluffy buttermilk pancake. You know I already had my eyes on a side of pancakes so this combination gave me the best of both worlds. And I was able to add my favorite addition, blueberries! Not only on top as pictured but in the batter as well. Highly recommend it all!
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the flavorful breakfast dishes, friendly, attentive staff, and a cozy, lively atmosphere.

The place is small but I like small spots. Small bar top is nice also. Street parking with easy access, right out front. I had eggs with spinach and cheddar cheese, chicken sausage, potatoes and pancakes. The potatoes well seasons and are really good. The pancakes was really good as well. You the fresh squeezed order juice so refreshing, I had mines mixed with grapefruit. Nice place to eat, next time I'm going to the other location where you have the mimosas. read more
Yeaaaah this place was cool! Awesome portions, yum tasting food, wonderful staff, good pricing, and relaxing warm atmosphere. Tried the supreme chorizo hash and Paris omelet. Everything was delicious. Well spiced, not over cooked, good mixture of flavors. All I can say is that this would be my go to place if I lived closer to it!! read more

What to have? What to have? The whole menu presented very enticing options. I watched as plates were brought to various tables--all looked good. I finally settled on the fried chicken and waffles. Let's see. How to describe perfection? Crispy is one word. The waffle was crisp perfectly, a Belgian waffle. Tasty and a wonderful, if traditional, accompaniment to the chicken. And the chicken had a crisp, tasty coating--the chicken itself was delicious, perfectly cooked, moist, succulent. Luckily, I had the fried chicken past December which means that my one allotment of fried chicken is back in play for the new yeasr. This could be the place for that, unless I'm tempted by their other selections--a likely temptation from all appearances. read more

Second time here and it's still a 10/10! Their coffee is amazing (Intelligentsia) and always being refilled. Tried the pancakes - super fluffy. Burrito is also fantastic and has a really nice sauce on it. You won't be disappointed! There's a clear reason it's always busy but this location is definitely less busy than the others! read more

We put ourselves on the wait list through yelp so that was good, only had to wait another 5-8 minutes to get a table. The server was okay, not very attentive. Although he got better. I ordered two eggs your way, scrambled with veggies and cheese. When i asked the server he said you can add these. But each of them is charged separately. The cheese was minimal in the eggs, almost not there. I can whip up better scrambled eggs at home. So the food was below average. Attaching a picture of the toast i got in the name of wheat toast. THIS IS WHAT PISSED ME OFF. It is the $1 bread you get at a store. Really really bad quality. Can't emphasize this enough. It was toasted also so bad. Broke in a millisecond. Husband got steel cut oats. He said they were fine. We paid $10 just for 2 small glasses of orange juice. Not worth it. The table doesnt have basic napkins, condiments, etc. Overall it was not the kind of brunch I was hoping for from a 'Breakfast Club'. read more

A beautiful breakfast spot that has charm, big city appeal and one of the best lattes I've ever had in my life. The breakfast dishes all of them mostly have an infusion of Mexican and brilliantly blended and meticulously presented on the plate. We went here for my 42nd birthday and they sang happy Birthday and did not disappoint. Great experience and I look forward to going back.... read more

Aye, we'll I heard such great things about this place. I was really excited to try for brunch. I had a few too many cocktails the night before and was pretty hangry when we arrived and in desperate need of some caffeine. What a cute little bfast place! A lot of outdoor seating in the shade, which was perfect. They are also doggie friendly. There was a wait when we arrived, but they text when your tables ready. It was a quick wait, only about 15 mins. And then everything kind of went to shit from here... Service, or lack of was painfully slow. Now, everyone was really nice, but hot damn! It was ssllllllloooooow. I felt like I was in the south. Also, it seemed like no one really knew what was going on. Our server seemed hesitant...hard to describe. We got the table in front of us's food. They were trying to get chairs from a back table but lifting them up overhead...I was waiting for them to come crashing down on someone. The food, oh the food was painful. Sad face. Chorizo hash...where'd the chorizo man?! It was two eggs over a shit ton of potatoes with a few little diced peppers and I think a teaspoon of chorizo. It was so sad! Not to mention, no seasoning on eggs or potatoes. Avocado toast...I was debating between chilaquiles and this. Server said do toast....eeek, it was literally avocado sliced on toast with a big helping of spinach on top and two eggs. Again, the lack of flavor on the avocado, eggs, etc was painful. I've never had avocado toast that was this bad. Like a little salt and garlic and you should be good...two thumbs down. I was really hoping to find another bfast spot, but I don't think we'll be heading back here anytime soon. read more

Delicious! We were seated quickly for a Sunday morning and felt the tables were adequately spaced apart so we weren't too close to any other table. I went with the first thing on the menu - the supreme chorizo hash with a side of pancake - and loved it! I've got a heavier hand when it comes to salt but felt this was perfectly seasoned and only added some hot sauce for heat. The pancake was a STAR also - so fluffy, light, and moist. They weren't kidding around when they said their pancakes were the best and served with great, real maple syrup. Servers were friendly and very attentive. I never had to worry about a full fresh cup of hot coffee and my cold glass of water being full. Will be back! read more

We ordered out from here for brunch today and so glad we did! I was on the fence about getting the breakfast sandwich because I don't really like ham on breakfast sandwiches so I asked for bacon substitution instead of ham and they granted it! BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH EVER! We also ordered chilaquiles which were amazing. We definitely would recommend ordering from this restaurant for breakfast/brunch you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. So incredibly happy we decided to order from here. read more

The four of us came after attending service at Rivercity Community Church (6min away) a couple days before xmas and loved the food here. I put our names down on the waitlist using yelp and we were able to get seated right away. The service was really good, and they were pretty quick with the food. Portions are quite generous too. I got the two egg breakfast dish (forgot the actual name, but it's the first one on the breakfast menu). The eggs were cooked really nicely, and the yolk oozed out in slow-mo when I cut it in half with my fork. I also got the side of buttermilk pancakes it was truly the fluffiest and tasted amazing even without extra butter of maple syrup. I also had a bite of the steak and was very impressed for how delicious it was, especially for the price. Service was great and everyone was decked out in holiday flair, which I really appreciated. Definitely would recommend if you are in the area. The space isn't too big, so add your name in the waitlist if you can! read more
Wow! This place blew my mind! Our friends brought us here with lunch and they are totally social distancing. They have a really cute outdoor section but unfortunately it was really hot and humid so we sat inside. I had the chilaquiles and I'm not a big fan of red sauce but the red sauce was delicious! Ordering from them again today, because I loved it so much! Check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Yums the word! Came here for breakfast Thursday morning with couple girlfriends. We ate outside and it was nice. Socially distanced and waitress was masked. She came by to check on us too which was nice. I had their Atlantic salmon cake Benedict and it was really good. The house potatoes were good, too. My other friends enjoyed their dishes as well. The menu is pretty big. I want to come back and try out other parts of the menu. Parking was very easy. Parked on streets, free! read more

Loved everything about this restaurant! After reviewing numerous brunch spots in Chicago, this one was the closest to home and also had great reviews. We decided to head here and on our way, we chose to add ourselves to the waitlist via Yelp. Let me tell you, this feature is awesome and such a time saver! We arrived for checkin and were seated within 7 minutes. Once we ordered, the food came out within 10 minutes - it was very quick! The food was so basic yet phenomenal. I have never had anything quite as great as their special chorizo hash with a side of bacon and white toast. My friend loved the chilaquiles as well. read more

Price is excellent. Food is excellent. Service and staff is excellent. Could not ask for more. I was wondering why it was rated so highly, especially these breakfast places that offer the same things, I.e. hash, pancakes, Benedict, etc. The above reasons are why. During COVID, they offer dine in and patio outdoor seating. Tables are definitely spread out. All staff wearing masks. We got supreme chorizo hash and chilaquiles. Hubby liked the runny egg that he could break over the hash, the subtle kick of spice of the chorizo, and the aioli that brought all the flavors together. Also, his dish came with pancake (vs toast) on the side - pancake is fluffy and spongy, and the best part is that they give you real maple syrup. We thought we would pick it at it, but we are all the whole pancake even though we were full. I had the chilaquiles - there were scrambled eggs mixed in with the tortilla chips, black bean purée on the bottom of the tortilla chip pile so you can get a bit of it with every bite, very good guacamole on top. I opted for the chorizo (not much of a meat person), sour cream and red sauce on the side. Didn't know what the red sauce was but it was very good and went well with the chilaquiles. It is a tomato-based, creamy sauce with a hint of heat. I ended up pouring it all over my dish. All in all, two dishes and 1 coffee came down to $32....can't beat that for the quality and portion of the meal. Would come here again read more

Myself or my mini self love Breakfast House. I apologize to the owner and the amazing staff for how late this review is. Of all the breakfast places in Chicago (dang we have so many) I have been a "regular" at Breakfast House. I can't even count how many times I've eaten here (though not for lunch...yet). The breakfast house hash and the supreme chorizo hash are my favorite, go to items each time. Family friendly and with a large kids menu. The staff even drops off a coloring sheet and crayons for the little people. If you're a parent, you know how much this means, even if it buys you 5-10 minutes of child engagement so you can eat your yummy food in peace. read more

What an endearing, pragmatic, and aptly named little breakfast spot. This place features all your breakfast favorites at a reasonable cost, and in sizeable portions. I discovered this place on a Sunday morning while looking for a no-frills breakfast joint, and it exceeded all my expectations. Despite the crowd outside, we were seated within ten minutes and the food was remarkable. We ordered the Fried Chicken, Eggs Benedict, Buttermilk Shortstack, and Chicken Sausage. The service was great, and the restaurant itself is small, but clean and comfortable. I'll certainly be back! read more
Quick service during COVID. We were the only table seated in the back. Silverware was wrapped. Didn't take long at all to get our food. All of it was delicious!! The organic Arnold Palmer was good but for $4 it should have been! Overall, I'd definitely come back! read more

If in Chicago, take the 2.5-3 mile ride out to west loop for breakfast/brunch!! I made an egg white omelet with broccoli and mushrooms. So fresh, the mushrooms were way good! Also got strawberry pancakes on the side. Possibly best pancakes I've ever had - favorite in Chicago so far for sure. My dad completely agreed (and he's a hard food critic). My parents both made their own omelets and enjoyed them as well. Food came piping hot out from the kitchen window which is always a plus. Great service and cute environment. Don't bring a crowd though as most tables sit 2-4, and couple sit 6. Easy recommendation. read more
Breakfast House is awesome! It looks kind of dingy outside and it's hidden on a little corner in an emptier side of the city, but once you walk inside you're greeted with a really casual environment that has a great homey feel. The staff are all extremely caring and friendly, and out server was willing to make some great recommendations about their dishes. I got the supreme chorizo hash with a corn cake on the side-- both had awesome flavors and great texture. I can't wait to return and try everything else! read more

Came after 10am on a Thursday and was seated right away. Although breakfast time, they were starting lunch as well. I chose the popular chorizo hash. Potatoes, chorizo, corn, peppers and onions lying underneath an over hard egg, guac and topped with Chipotle sauce = Y U M! Such a flavorful combo. The menu had quite a few breakfast and lunch options with a small special menu on the side. Hubs tried the chicken burger and a side salad. Simple but tasty. He said the burger was spicy and flavorful. It was a full house and customers kept coming in so i look forward to going again and trying lunch. read more

Would we be able to bring in our own champagne on a Friday or is that option only available on Saturday/Sunday?…
As long as they are open, it is BYOB all the time. We have brought liquor and we have brought champagne. Enjoy!
Do they have parking?
Unfortunately it is a neighborhood spot, so you will have to find street parking. Right on Grand isn't too bad either East or West of the intersection. You can even try one block South, mostly business/warehouse.
