Ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee for delivery. Requested the restaurant cover the coffee cup in plastic, because there is a pandemic, COVID19, in case you forgot Breakfast House. I don't want anyone drinking out of my coffee or breathing over my coffee for that matter. How does my coffee arrive, plain coffee cup and no protection no plastic wrap. Breakfast House - Does this cup of coffee appear ready for delivery? No plastic wrap covering - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Who's house is this? Breakfast House! But for real literally looks like someone's house converted into a casual breakfast diner. I dig it. Parking? Free on the street. We parked right in front. Talk about dumb luck. Food? All in the name I guess. Breakfast! But they also do have a lunch menu that they serve later in the day. While we were here for breakfast, they do have quiet the variety of options. Everything from pancakes & waffles to omeletes & benedicts and even chicken and waffles and a variety of Mexican inspired dishes from the supreme chorizo hash, breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, and huevos rancheros. Yum! What'd I eat? After much debate, I ended up going with the the chorizo hash while I was here and it was BOMB. While I enjoyed my dish, my wife's salmon cake benedict wasn't everything she hoped. Let's just say it tasted fishy (as in not fresh as one would like it to be). Sounded good on paper, but would probably pass on it the next time around. Noteworthy? For coffee, they proudly boast the Intelligentsia they serve up. Quite the upgrade from a standard coffee you'd get at a normal diner. Price point? Quite reasonable as most dishes are around the $10 mark +/-. Bill for 2 came out around $30 after tax and tip. BYOB? Yep. Not a lot of tables turning up, but I do recall seeing signs indicating they are indeed BYOB. 'Til next time, cheers! read more

Simple. No huge menu, but the food is tasty. It's BYOB so that's fun. Went for a nice brunch date with the husband. I had the steak and eggs and was pleased. Husband did the breakfast burrito and finished his with a smile. If you are in the area definitely stop by. read more

This place is right nearby me now. I had been here a few years ago and it was a good experience. Drove up and all. Now it's practically walking distance, so looking forward to a re-visit. What I remember from before is that they had decent pancakes/waffles, etc. read more

Quality breakfast choices, great coffee, and friendly staff. Never disappointed, I've been to two of their locations, great experience at each one. read more

Loved this spot. Nothing super fancy, but high quality folks and food! Breakfast House is a minority owned business in an unassuming part of town. It's was a quick Lyft ride away from the train station, which was where I was heading consecutively. I started with the fresh squeezed orange juice. You cannot beat a place that serves the freshest OJ. It was a nice surprise. They also serve Intelligentsia Coffee and that was wonderful also! For my meal I chose the Paris Omlet, which was a perfectly cooked savory omelet with ham and cheese. You can taste the quality of their ingredients. It was just what my hungover self needed! I came super hungry and they delivered a delicious experience. Our service throughout was on point and the hospitality was so kind. read more

I was really excited to try this place out due to the hype. I feel like that's all it was just hype. I was excited to try the chilaquiles since it was like chef's choice AND it's one of my go to breakfast choices if it's on the menu. I was pretty disappointed. The sauce tasted like straight up tomato sauce with some "spices" but definitely not no chilaquiles sauce. The chorizo tasted like the processed one, not that there's anything wrong with that, but they have local Mexican grocery stores that sell homemade one and that is 1000xs better. I just feel for at least the mexican options they have here is a no go. It's like having chipotle and thinking you're actually having Mexican food. The chicken and waffles though were really good. The service was good as well everyone is friendly. read more

Omg this place is a must go place if you're looking for some really really good breakfast/lunch choices. The wife and I visited this establishment on the recommendation of friends. It was a Sunday morning and around the heart of breakfast time, ~9am, when we arrived, 4 of us to be exact. We gave our names and put in our phone number to be contacted when we were ready to be seated. They had quoted about 30 minutes since they were rather busy but to our surprise, we received a text message within 10 minutes that our seats were available and to head to the restaurant for seating. Off to a really great start to this establishment! On to the food and menu... Everything sounded SO good. For me, I'm a burrito type of person so I try breakfast burritos wherever they have them available. My wife tried the huevos hash. Omg if you've ever had a food flavor explosion before, this is exactly how the food felt when taking a bite from our food. All the flavors complimented themselves as they nailed it on the flavor pairings. I've tasted some really good breakfast burritos but this one topped them all. The way that they topped the burrito with the sauce and lightly with sour cream. The hash that accompanied the burrito was lightly crisp on the outside yet seasoned and flavored well on the inside. My wife had almost the same exact expression on her face when she bit into her dish. It was flavor fireworks... We would definitely look to visiting this place and trying all the other items on their menu!!! read more

Ended up at this restaurant by accident (and luck) just from walking around trying to find somewhere to have breakfast. Well definitely happy we gave this place a chance, it's a cozy environment small but spacious with a lot of seating space for small and big groups. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions, our server was very nice and checked on us frequently to make sure we were happy. The food was all fresh and didn't take too long for us to get our food, and food was delicious. They have two restrooms( one for women and one for men ) and both very clean and well kept. Thank you for a great first visit definitely will be back on our next trip to Chicago!! read more

The chilaquiles were the best ones I've had in the entire city of Chicago, and I have tried them everywhere. I will definitely be back. The breakfast potatoes were also a delight. Service was great - staff was attentive and very nice. It didn't take long for our party of two to get seated on a Saturday morning despite the place being relatively busy. Highly recommend. read more

This place is totally "Meh". If you like your crepes to be mini pancakes and not actually crepes then this is the place for you. If you want to pay $1.50 up charge for a quarter banana these guys have got an option for you. If you're looking for good breakfast food, you'd be better served with a slice of toast and cereal. Don't eat here. read more

Fresh and unique breakfast dishes, some with a Latin flare. The poached eggs were perfecto, and the homemade granola was fruity, crunchy, and chock full of blueberries and strawberries. The hubs got the chorizo hash which was not heavy and greasy, but rather crispy and flavorful with silky eggs and creamy guacamole. There were at least five things on the menu I wanted...next time I'll try the chicken and waffles, or maybe the challah French toast...or the multigrain pancakes. Don't miss this little gem! read more

Great flavors, large portions, affordable prices and solid service, all delivered on white linen - which is actually topped with white butcher paper. Just call it a fanciful diner! There might be three styles of pancakes on the menu, but the Sour Cream Pancakes ($8.99 - with fruit compote) are not to be missed, followed by the flavorful Multi-grain Oatmeal flapjacks ($8.50). The table next to us was raving about the Chorizo Hash ($10.50) which was certainly large enough to serve two people. The Huevos Rancheros ($8.00) are a lighter version of their much heavier Chilaquiles ($10.50), featuring two sunny side up eggs, on a pair of corn tortillas with black beans, pepper jack cheese, avocado and a flavorful ranchero sauce. Don't let the small entranceway deceive you, there's plenty of seating in the back as well. read more

One of my new favorite brunch spots! Lots of great food that's a definitely a bang for your buck. I love that it's easily accessible by car or public transportation in the west town neighborhood with not much difficulty finding parking even on a Sunday morning! WIN! Sometimes I'm just too lazy to head out to the loop just for brunch at wild berry and I need more brunch options yeah know? Food: supreme chorizo hash. this is LOADED and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes chorizo + guacamole. I opted for my eggs to be scrambled instead of the default over easy. It also comes with a side of pancakes!! So you can get your savory tooth satisfied without having to feel guilty. Another win. Parking: street parking in the neighborhood. Pretty easy to find. Overall: I'd definitely come back again for the supreme chorizo hash. Once I find something good, I'm always hesitant to try new things. Trust me and try out breakfast house. A close 2nd to wildberry pancakes in my opinion. read more

Great BYOB brunch spot! Free parking outside if you're lucky enough. You can do online checking when they have a waitlist start and thankfully only had to wait 10 mins versus 30 mins. I went with two friends and got a nice table. It took a few minutes to get someone to greet our table and order food. We were able to bring in our champagne and they provided us glasses and a bucket to keep it in which was great. was able to order the supreme chorizo hash and it was delicious! I also ordered the peppermint mocha latte which was great. Would love to come back again to try more food! read more

This place is a cute little gem for breakfast. We ended up here after the hot chocolate 5k because my sister and her boyfriend had dined here before. We added ourselves to the yelp waitlist to avoid lines and decrease our time of waiting. Upon arrival we were at the top of the waitlist per yelp. My sister checked us in and was not told a wait time. After asking the host how long the wait would be, she said at least 15 minutes. I was a bit confused since we had put ourselves on the waitlist via the yelp app. After asking the host to explain the process to me, all she could say was that people were sat, regardless if you were a walk-in or yelp waitlist, in the order they walk through the door. Didn't give me a clear explanation, but ok. I really was just trying to understand how the process worked. If the waitlist didn't allow us seating as we showed up then say that. Her affect was flat and her customer service in my opinion was poor. Overall she didn't do a great job of explaining the system even after I told her I didn't understand what the point of doing the yelp waitlist was for if we were still going to wait. Besides that, the waitress was fantastic. Bubbly, nice and prompt. The food was delicious! I had the chorizo hash dish and it was amazing. I wouldn't mind coming back again. Hopefully the interaction with the host was a one time deal. read more

This was a really great spot for breakfast. We went on a Sunday for brunch and didn't have to wait too long for a table. We added our name to the queue via Yelp, but it doesn't exactly work that way. It did speed up the process a bit though. We ordered 5 entrees for the 4 of us and went to work. I can only speak to my French toast and Chorizo scrambler. The Chorizo Scrambler was tasty and the portion was good. I just wish it had a bit more Chorizo in it! The Guacamole on top was a nice touch, albeit without a lot either. This was certainly worth the trip overall. The French toast was pretty basis, but was a nice add to the meal. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't a particularly "great" entree. Hot coffee and good service were a plus. It wasn't a super-great value, esp since it's a bit out of the way. However, it'd go back if I was in the area. There was counter-service, so if you are a 1-2 person table, you might get in faster. Parking wasn't bad, we parked on the N-S street for free. read more

Brunch is the best thing that was ever created!!! After a great workout, I was able to grab a quick bite at breakfast house. Super easy parking in front, it's all free so that was a plus. The waitresses were super friendly and very accommodating. The hash special was amazing. It really gives you a combination of everything. You got the hash, the onions, the bell pepper, sausage, need I say more? It does give a bit of that Latin mix in there and if you put all those ingredients in your mouth at once, your mouth is having a party. You'll thank me later. But the flavoring was so good I almost cleaned up that plate and wanted more. So that really goes to show how tasty that hash dish was. Would I be back? You bet I will! read more

I was looking to try a new breakfast spot - and I came across the Breakfast House and decided to pop in based on Yelp reviews. Y'all can do no wrong - this place is amazing. The service is SO ON TOP OF SHIT. You want coffee filled? Bam, it's filled! You want your absolutely delicious food quickly? Bam, there it is! You're eating and you've barely just ordered. I came here on a Saturday at 11am with a friend for brunch and loved Breakfast House! The food comes in large portions and is reasonably priced. The interior is small. I put our name down and the hostess told me the wait was about 10-15 minutes. You can check your spot via the link they send you in the confirmation text. The wait time was accurate and we were seated on time. The space is cozy and cute - definitely feels like someone's home inside! We brought a bottle of Prosecco and made our own mimosas (BYOB). For food, I had the Breakfast Burrito ($9.50). It was so large and delicious!! It came with a generous side of potatoes that were flavorful and crispy. My friend ordered the Supreme Chorizo Hash ($11) and also loved it. Both dishes came with different sauces on top of the entrees that were unique and delicious. Service was a little slow, but the place was packed so it was understandable. Our food did come out fresh and hot so that's what I cared about the most. I was very impressed with the food at Breakfast House and will definitely be back again! read more

Such amazing brunch and lunch food! I love that there are many dishes that have a Mexican twist (like chorizo hash). Both the savory and sweet items are good. My favorite dish is the corn cakes, which go with a delicious red pepper sauce. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, and hashes are also amazing. Soooooo here's the thing..... Service was good and food came out reasonably. We got the steak and eggs ($13) and fried chicken and waffles ($11). The fried chicken was well seasoned but it felt way too greasy with a lot of coating but it did have that nice crunch. The Belgium waffle was the most disappointing. It wasnt fluffy inside. It was really crispy. The waffle mix was not impressive. The steak was good. It may have been overcooked for medium rare but it had a really nice seared taste. Everything else was standard. Friendly, welcoming hostess and staff. Diego was our waiter and there were other people coming by seamlessly bringing and removing plates. 1st time on 4/11 morning and will return. Corn Cakes w/side of ham & eggs (I had over easy and they were PERFECT). Corn cakes were moist inside and crispy outside. Thin sliced ham was spot on for my taste. Enjoyed outside shady table and birds tweeting. It occurs to me that this review may sound a bit over the top. With all that's going on in the world, I've decided it's important we are aware of when things go well. This is just such a time. Oh!
