We love to do staycations in Stinson. Breakers has always been a favorite. On this stay we did takeaway and it was all so good! The clam chowder is very creamy and delicious. We stopped in yesterday to have lunch. The first surprise was the $25 price tag on the fish & chips, but sometimes that comes with the territory... not in this case. The batter of the fish was burned and took away from the expected flavor. My wife was not pleased. As for me, I enjoyed the grilled shrimp burrito. THAT was delicious! So, I gave three stars in hopes next time, they'll pay more attention to serving something worth $25 a pop. read more

I got 2 $26 Lobster Rolls, took one bite, and had to throw it away. I threw up everything immediately and had a bad stomach and headache for the rest of the night. It smells like spoiled, rotten, fish - almost like chemical hair dye. It tasted rotten. Please do not ever come here and waste your money. The worst part is I asked the bartender if he'd recommend the Lobster Roll and he said it was their best dish. I was dubious but decided to give it a try. I regret leaving over 20% in tip. Good food after we hiked from Muir Woods to Stinson Beach. We got the nachos, salmon sandwich, carne asada tacos and swordfish tacos. All were good not great. Keep in mind we were starving after our hike too. The food was filling but the price tag is expensive for what you get (but there isn't much competition in Stinson beach...) The food here is SO GOOD. So many times I've been to beach side restaurants the food is mediocre because, who cares, you're at the beach... but not this place. First off, the place is super clean and I feel safe as a covid crazy patron. Next, you have the friendly staff. The bartender, Mac is really friendly and makes a banger cocktail. He's also not bad to look at, even with his mask on highly recommend picking up your next beach meal here! read more

This place is so fun! It's basically a beer garden and the food is good! I had the tri-tip sandwich and shared calamari. I recommend both.

They had cod and Swordfish, I tried one of each (preferred the Swordfish). I can put food AWAY, shamelessly and these two tacos were so beautifully packed that it made for a great filling meal. These items weren't exactly dirt cheap but they were well worth it. Of the two, the fish tacos felt healthier and fresher (avocados were gorgeous, lots of crunchy veggies too). That burrito though... Talk about inflation! Prices are ridiculously high, probably due to clientele and lack of competition in the area. I think we spent $14 on chips and guacamole. Will be bringing food to picnic next time we head to Stinson Beach. read more

There are really only two places out at Stinson, so we deny-meeny-miny-mo'ed, and picked Breakers. Good and Bad. I ordered oysters.... just being out there by the ocean made me crave them. I would have ordered a couple more orders but the first order of oysters came room temperature....which for oysters is warm. Warm. I should have sent them back, but I just ate them and crossed my fingers. I also ordered the Clam Chowder. A bowl. THAT was a HIT! ...rich and creamy, but not overly thick. We also ordered french fries which came warm, and meh..... but they re-did those and they were great! French Fries should be hot! One of our group got the hamburger. Nothing great, but passable. They haven't figured out how to keep the flies away, or at least outdoors where you might expect them. And parking is a struggle. But, hey, when you're at one of only two places in town, you get what you get. Get the chowder, and hot crispy fries. Epilogue: I survived the oysters. read more

We popped into Breakers Cafe to refuel after hiking down Mt. Tam. We perused all the restaurants in Stinson Beach before deciding on it, so it came after some intense vetting. The Yelp rating had me a bit worried, but Breakers was a great choice! (FWIW, I give 5 stars sparingly.) I got a delicious Bloody Mary - hands-down one of the best I've had (and I'm a bloody Bloody connoisseur) - and the boy got beer. For food, we had the grilled fish tacos, onion rings, and a steak burrito. All of it was amazing. The outdoor seating is beautiful, interior is cute too, but the fire pit outside stole the show. It provided just the right amount of warmth for a cool Marin County day without cooking us. The chairs were cool, too - classic deck chairs with adorable pillows. I thought I'd be begging to be airlifted back to the car (we had to hike back up after eating here), but I survived. Good thing, because I definitely want to come back! Breakers cafe has very fresh seafood and is located right in the center of town. I really enjoyed their wines and the outdoor space with heat lamps, making it covid safe. The clams and mussels came in a delicious sauce served with garlic bread. The clams and mussels were washed well and not sandy (something I've noticed at other seafood restaurants). I've been to Stinson Beach a hundred times and more. I've BBQ'd in the park. I've picnicked on the beach. I've stayed in town and I've eaten at every place there. Until a couple months ago, though, I'd never been to the Breakers Cafe....and, what was I doing? I mean it's not the best beach shack on earth (get thee to Maui or Mex) but it's really really good. Definitely a solid call and better than places closer to the park in town. I had fish tacos that were fresh, well seasoned and tasty with a cold draft. My compadres had burritos and burgers that were solid. Also, milkshakes and seasonal cocktails. They have some nice tables out of the wind and in the sun, so it's a nicer spot to sit outside than I would have guessed. read more

Visited: April 15th, 2017 I was a little conflicted on what to rate this place. Once again wishing I could give them a 1 and a 5 all at once. The atmosphere & the incredible food beat out the terrible attitude of the staff member taking orders, so I went with a four-star rating. I am a hiking group organizer, so I took 15 people up Mt. Tam on the Steep Ravine to Matt Davis Trail. It's about 8 miles of incline, sunshine, and exercise. You can imagine how hungry the 15 of us were. One of my favorite things about this spot is the outdoor area. There's a firepit, TONS of seating, and outdoor bar that gives off a vacation vibe, and heaters to keep the ocean breeze at bay. I ordered the American Burger with Avocado & Bacon which came out to a whopping $18 for the burger with crinkle cut fries. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Sandwich and my best friend ordered a salad sans meat with extra egg (She's a Vegetarian). The gentleman taking orders at the front was rude to almost EVERYONE in our group. I heard a rude story as everyone sat back down at the table outside as well. He didn't want to take special orders and was impatient when people asked for anything not specifically on the menu. He snapped at customers when asking for a side of ranch, and told us 3 times someone would come out to clean the table and they never did. One of our crew ended up getting a wet rag from him to do it herself. Finally, a different staff member came out and helped clean up, turned on the heater for us, got everyone ranch and totally made up for his grumpy counterpart. The food was great and the fun beach-like atmosphere was just what we needed after a long day. So we ordered two eggs with bacon and ham, and it cost over 20$ for one dish, VERY overpriced for mediocre, basic food. We waited over 25 minutes for our food to arrive and when it did it was....something I can make at home in half the cost. Went there last weekend after a day at the beach. Waited in line and ordered, then sat down to wait for my number to be called. All food came out in to-go boxes and brown bags. We stayed to eat there and the food was good. The problem is I felt rushed in line and when I got home I realized they added in a 20% tip! I called the manager and was told that for parties of 5 or more, this is automatic. He said it was for sitting on the patio and taking up space for 5 people. No servers, paper plates and sitting outside on a patio. I spent $150 on food and was charged a $30 tip and was told this policy was on the menu that is pinned on the wall of the bar. If you go, only order to-go or make sure you get to choose how much tip you want to give a guy at the bar for taking your order! I won't be going back. read more

Food was fresh and quick. Service is great! You order and sit where ever you want. They're nice and laid back! We got here a little before 3 and they were nice enough to serve us . Food was delicious! I never had a shrimp quesadilla and I'm glad I tired it from here, sadly I don't think I will ever have one as good. I asked for the pico del Gallo on the side and it tasted so fresh! My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and he loved his to! His fires were really good!
