First time trying this restaurant. Overall, my favorite thing was the ambiance of their outdoor seating since it's very close to sausalito beach. The steak nachos was really good, but I didn't like the fish tacos since the tacos and fish ended up being soggy because of the pickled veggies that they added. It's a self service restaurant, you order and pay before picking up your food. No servers. Parking can be very limited depending on the weather since the beach is closeby.

The most delicious shrimp tacos.

The aroma was drifting through Stinson's beachy air this morning. Open, clean outdoor seating welcomed us. We were greeted as soon as we made it to the counter after a short wait in line. The menu had some pretty tasty options. But.... The shrimp tacos were amazing. Five stars. I'm hooked. So is my sister. Perfect reward after an amazing hike.

Its our first time in the area. After our hiking from Alamere Falls, we were hungry and tired. This is the first restaurant we found on our way home. It was freezing outside and there's limited fireplace so we went inside. We ordered steak taco and hamburger. They were so great! The burger is not dry and cooked perfectly and the steak taco is a lot. It tasted very good. Well prepared. The service is great too. The server brought utensils, napkins and catsup. We are definitely going back to get some beers.

Unless you were unprepared for Stinson beach day and it was a last resort, I would stay clear away from this spot. This is an Expensive eatery for a place where you serve yourself. The food was good yes but is about 3x you would pay anywhere else. The ambiance is open seating like a brewery and the view is not beach but neighborhood town road or patio wall. I had the crab bisque, $14 for a pint size with yummy garlic bread (but no crab chunks) and $9 can of suderks beer (being from Davis, I use to get these drafts for $1-3)! I wondered if the tip had to be included already in price. Anyways avoid to save your wallet. Just pack a BYOE (everything) of affordable food and picnic on the beach.

Best shrimp taco of my life. Great location after a big hike. Had a nice glass of wine with it. Great service too.

GRILLED SALMON SANDWICH

This is our go-to eatery when we are at Stinson, mainly because of their dog friendly patio. As a couple, we have collectively had 4 or 5 different menu items total and they've all been pretty good. I wouldn't say the food is spectacular but it's tasty enough. I do feel it is slightly overpriced at $18-30/entree but I guess that's the price for an outing to Stinson. Like another reviewer said, it's more about the ambiance and proximity to the beach than it is about the food. Overall, decent eats, lots of tables on the patio, and dog-friendly. Oh! And there are bathrooms available for customers.

NASHVILLE CHICKEN SANDWICH
Camille E.

The outdoor space is really nice, and the location is great--walking distance to the beach. We got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and were pretty disappointed. Given the name, we were expecting typical Nashville cayenne sauce/seasoning, but the chicken itself had a sweet sauce with it instead. On top of this, the sandwiches were lukewarm. For nearly $20 each, we expected them to be hot and fresh. The food was fine, but quite expensive for what it is, which is probably attributed to the location.

Dungeoness Crab Melt

The Drinks were good. Not much else was though. This does seem like a nice chill spot to hang out though. I was really excited to try this place but the food was just a bit lacking for me. My crab sandwich had the flavor but it was really missing the main ingredient: the crab. That's the one thing that really bugs me when I go somewhere and I see Crab Cakes on the menu. You definitely gotta have a good amount because the customer is already paying extra for that tiny luxury. On top of that we ordered Clam Chowder and it was just ok. Definitely could of used some more salt if anything but at least there was there was good enough fixings in that. I'm not sure if I would try them again since I struck out with two items. But at least the fries and booze were good.

Stuart J.

Very mediocre food for an expensive price. Burger was dry. I actually quite enjoyed the fries, they were very crispy, but I wish there were bottles of ketchup instead of just packets. Overall experience left me wanting more, especially considering the price.

overall B+: great North Bay Stinson beach side restaurant/patio. The food and service and prices solid, vibe of the place outstanding. Halibut sammy, fresh poke salad. Just beware of local bird droppings before sitting outside. Drive from the highway was super beautiful and fun, especially in a boxter sports car.

This place is clearly a tourist trap but at least the food isn't bad.  Crab melt was decent. There was quite a bit of crab. The fries were decent. Salmon tacos were so so. There was quite a lot of salmon but the tacos didn't taste lively even with the squeeze of lime. The flavour profile of both dishes was muted, but the tacos felt the lack more.

SHRIMP TACOS

We stopped by before our journey to Mendocino. It's a small but cute area. You order outside at the bar and the outdoor patio is pretty big and dog friendly. Bathrooms for customers too and a place to fill up water. It is kind of pricy at $25 for 2 shrimp tacos. Shrimp taco was pretty good. But it's about the vicinity to the beach and location I guess. I'm sure at night it looks even more fun.

Stopped by for dinner after a hike/exploring Stinson Beach! Our expectations were low, considering the mixed reviews, but we had a good experience. We grabbed a table on the patio, and were delighted to find it was well heated. The ambiance on the patio was pleasant - string lights, dogs, happy people, etc. We went up to order at the bar and I got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and an Arnold Palmer. You also pay at the counter and wait until your number is called to pick up your food. Service was quick and we didn't wait long for our orders to be ready. The portion sizes were quite large, which was perfect because we were starving. It was far from the best Nashville Chicken Sandwich of my life, but the chicken was juicy and the fries on the side were delicious. I will say, it could've used more sauce - not hot at all. My friends got the Ahi Tuna Poke Salad and Fish & Chips, which were both tasty. We also got a side order of the Housemade Guacamole & Chips, which was delightful - definitely made fresh. Overall, the food wasn't mind blowing, but we left full and happy!

The kid's grilled cheese was solid, even better when dipped in the leftover pesto. And the cauliflower flat bread was sooo good. While we were in line, the woman in front of us couldn't stop raving about the bran muffins. The woman taking orders went to check on them and came back all apologetic and let us know they weren't going to have any today. The customer was disappointed but happily pivoted to another pastry. I'm pretty sure she had us all wanting a bran muffin by then. My daughter got a latte and I had a cortado. The gal taking our order was a wealth of little coffee facts and explained that cortado means "cut," referring to the espresso being cut with milk, traditionally about half espresso and half milk. We both really enjoyed our coffees. My daughter also got a sticky bun and a salsa verde burrito. She said the sticky bun was outstanding. The burrito was a different story. She saw "salsa verde burrito" on the label and tucked it into her pocket for later. We took the dogs for a walk on Bolinas Beach in the beautiful cloudy, cool weather, then headed home. When she finally opened the burrito, she discovered what she thought might be chorizo and cheese inside. That wasn't what she was expecting or wanted, and she ultimately ate only the rice and beans on the side and threw the rest away. Such a disappointment. We'd definitely come back for the coffee and would love to try one of those bran muffins when they're available. As for the burrito, next time we'll be double-checking exactly what's inside before walking away with it!

The current owners took ownership in 1999. The menu has evolved and has more than hot dogs, burgers & fries... they have hot deli sandwiches, tacos (fish, shrimp, tuna, chicken tender), soups, salads, smoothies, soft serve, shakes, and even beer and wine. Leveling up from the typical burger stand. Recently, I accompanied the Hubs to go get his hamburger. I grabbed something next door at the Parkside Cafe coffee cart which is owned by the same folks. Hubs even ordered a 50/50 milkshake. Half vanilla and half chocolate. He devoured his burger. Before he did, he allowed me a few bites. Mmm. Juicy, beef patty seasoned nicely. Hubs amped it up by ordering a bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was thick cut and cooked to a perfect compromise, not burnt and no undercooked edges. Even the sesame bun tasted good, held up well to that patty and the fixins. The cashier was engaging and helpful. Another thing to note about the stand is since this is a walk up, there are no tables. Next to the shack is a pathway to the beach parking lot with grassy picnic areas and then beyond yonder is the beach. But besides the beach picnic areas' is a small bench next to the pathway and some additional benches in the park across the street and in front of the post office. I usually pack the food to enjoy on the beach. I just have to fight off the sea birds.

After a few more recent experiences at this beach snack shack, I have more to say…read more Parkside is a large restaurant split into a sit down diner, a beachside snack shack line, and a coffee/bakery line. So far, I've been through the snack shack and coffee lines several times, but have never been inside the diner. When it comes to parking, the area in front of the restaurant is usually super crowded. As long as it's not too busy, I usually park in the NPS Stinson Beach parking lot right behind the restaurant, which is just a little bit further. Recently, I was telling a couple of my coworkers about this place on the way back from a training in San Francisco, and they said that I made it sound irresistible. So, we decided to stop. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich, while my coworkers ordered a butterscotch shake, and fish and chips. (They both said that their food was outstanding.) As we walked out to the beach with our food, I said, "Careful, the seagulls around here are fearless. They'll rip your food right out of your hands." I ended this sentence with a scream, and then said, "What just happened to me?" My coworker had to stop cracking up to say, "The bird stole your chicken!" "My God," said our other coworker, "We're surrounded. Should we go back to the parking lot?" We took our food back to the picnic tables, which, for reasons unbeknownst to us, was relatively safe from seagulls. Apparently, they don't want to cross the shrubbery line. Once I got over the idea of eating after a seagull (deciding that maybe his beak only touched the chicken that he took), once I got back into my sandwich, I thought that it was pretty good. But I had to know-- were the fish and chips really as "great" as my coworker said they were? A few days later, I came back to find out. For cod, I would say, they were pretty okay. They were a little burned, and very salty, but about as good as you could expect for the price. The fries were terrible. While I wouldn't come back for the fish and chips, and I won't be telling people, "Yeah, I know a great fish and chips place in Stinson Beach," I would still stop by for a chicken sandwich. A few weeks ago, prior to all of this, I had stopped by for a banana split. For $8 at a beach shack, it's not bad. It virtually never matches the description on the menu, but it's close enough. I was sad to see that the cardamon bun is no longer on the menu at the coffee line next to the snack shack. Maybe it's seasonal. Overall, I still think this place is pretty great for a decently priced beachside fast snack shack.
