The hubby took me here as a surprise breakfast and walk on the beach. It was good. I had the breakfast enchiladas #1 and my husband the pancake breakfast. Everything here was fine - the service, the food etc. Coffee was good, oj was labeled fresh squeezed but came from a dispenser and was a commercial fresh squeeze. The hubby's eggs had an on and off onion taste and were not "well done" like asked. Mine however was delicious and clearly the thing to get! The pancakes were sweet and very fluffy if a bit oily on the outside. Their bacon was Smokey, salty and exactly scrumptious. The 3 rating is based on the oniony eggs (doesn't pair well with pancakes), the oj, prices were a little high, and the fact that this is a counter service place. A really lovely spot! Friendly service. Outside seating. My dog was welcome. Adult slushes! Near the beach but I wouldn't walk to it. On the main road and way to find. Nice menu - I had oysters on half shell. They were fresh and really yummy. Packaged on ice to take to the beach with all the right items - hot sauce packets and vinegar and lemon. Sadly I drop to 4 stars in that there were a lot of broken shells in their prep and I bit into more than 1. I would still get it again. I also had fried calamari. These tasted nice and fresh. Batter was not too heavy and not to greasy. They stuck together a bit. But we'll packaged and yummy. Be aware it's A bit expensive. But it's a difficult to get to location and a great place to take a nice lunch. I do wish I could have found the potties here. Sorry forgot to get pics. read more

Breakers Cafe is one of the few (I'd say two) breakfast/lunch places in Stinson Beach. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with three of my girlfriends after a long hike starting from Pan Toll Camp in the Mt. Tam area. We took the Steep Ravine Trail and ended up in Stinson Beach as planned. There were only two brunch spots filled with customers--Breakers and this other place that looked like Sand Dollar Cafe. Both seemed to be serving the same foods...breakfast foods, but also sandwiches and salads for lunch. Breakers seems to be owned and run by a Mexican proprietor, and if you're reading this. 100% and 5 stars to the service crew that day. They deserve five stars!! They were super quick with the lunch rush, and the food came out at different times, but obviously because they wanted food to be fresh and hot instead of cold from waiting. All of the guys working that day were on their A-game bringing out our meals and doing so with a smile. The food is what I felt was lacking. I got their wild snapper tacos and I was kind of surprised that I paid for two average tacos that each cost more than $10! I would never even pay for that if I went to a super high-end restaurant!! I'm assuming that Breakers is able to elevate their prices because of the lack of restaurants at Stinson Beach...but I was surprised that I only had two tacos on my plate. There should at least be some tortilla chips or a simple salad! We seemed to be the only group of hikers dining at that time...I'm guessing locals or passerby's come eat here. I wouldn't choose to eat here next time because of the pricing. But the ambiance of the indoors with their organic/wood-paneled interior is beautiful. I must say that I like the sunny patio. Considering it's just about the only game in town for lunch in Stinson Beach (one of about two), that alone gives it an honorable mention. But the food was a bit lazy. The tacos looked pretty good, but other items we ordered were underwhelming. The salad was thrown together, and our sandwich was a bit dry. After a quick hike on the matt davis trail we find ourselves at breakers cafe. Probably because its the only place to eat on the strip aside from the market. Inside had a beach town feeling yet clean and modern. In general, i think the prices are kinda high for a place like this but the selection was great. I ordered the clam chowder soup and tuna melt. Since they didnt have small portions i ended up paying for 2 full entree sizes. The food was good. I dont know if I was just starving from the hike, but i was really impressed. It def had more of a home cooked meal feeling if anything. The chowder had large chunks of tuna and top with olive oil (nice touch). The tuna melt reminds me of how mama use to do it. I enjoyed all of it. I ended up spending $30 including tip which seems pretty high for lunch but i loved it. read more

We hit the Breakers Cafe on the way home from Bolinas for a post surf meal and I can definitely say, this place does not disappoint. We originally stopped to check out a local cafe in Bolinas which smelled amazing, but the choices were pretty limited since we came before their dinner seating so we hopped in the car and started on our way out. Its a bit further than I had remembered, but its on the way out to the main road so you really have to go that way anyway if you're trying to get back to the 101 or 580. The road can be crowded so drive carefully, but once you park get ready for some bomb food. We ordered Snapper tacos, french fries and of course a few drinks. They have lots of bottled beer and a couple of on tap options as well as cocktail options. The fish was well prepared, tortillas fresh and soft, street style (double layered) with mounds of fish, cabbage slaw with avocado and a healthy juicy lime wedge. The french fries were krinkle cut which I have no qualms about, those krinkles grab hold on to ketchup even better! And when I asked for ranch, there was no extra charge and the server happily brought us a couple rounds. This is a walk up and order, they give you a number and pay after you eat kind of place, no fuss, just good food kind of cafe. Next time, I'd love to come early enough to grab breakfast because that menu looked pretty bomb. read more

We came here after playing at Stinson beach on Veteran's day and it was the only restaurant open, but luckily we are not too disappointed with the food here. There are plenty of tables both inside the restaurant and outside at the patio and service is fast. Price is steep for breakfast, but the cafe is right off the park and beach, so we really could not complain. We ordered a burger, an omelette, a quesadilla, and a salmon salad. Everything is pretty average except for the Salmon salad which really stood out. The Salmon was good size and the grill on it was perfect. Just the right amount of flakiness, not overcooked. Service was great, you order at the register and get a number, and staff will deliver food to the table. They are also nice when we ask for extra plates and utensils multiple times. The server was professional and courteous. I was a little frustrated by the fact it was 11:45 when I showed up to work from their patio and the lunch menu did not start until noon. I ordered only a latte and then he came out and took my order at noon - quite a nice perk! The bartender was a little salty when I asked for directions to the ladies room and when I needed to pay quickly to get going. Overall - the taco salad with chicken was the best I have ever had! What a cute little cafe! After arriving at Stinson Beach, me and DD walked around looking for some brunch! Since we had my dog, we looked for an outdoor patio and came across Breakers Cafe, which seemed to be a pretty popular joint! Every time I'm close to a beach - I crave seafood! So I ordered the Shrimp Omelet. I got a huge omelet stuffed with shrimp, tomatoes, avocados, and infused with tons of melted mozzarella cheese. I also got potatoes and toast on the side. Everyone was well seasoned and delicious! They were very generous with the shrimp! DD ordered the Cobb Salad which was topped with TONS of blue cheese, chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, and hard boiled eggs. I guess the only thing different about this salad compared to a classic Cobb is that there was no bacon (chicken instead) and they served the salad with a thousand island dressing. I needed my coffee and was just desperate to get one anywhere. Yet, I found this place on Yelp and looks promising for a breakfast place. So I got my coffee, regular nothing fancy. I just couldn't wait to sip it first before looking on the menu. I saw their corned beef harsh and ordered it. It had chunks of corned beef, chopped up celery, bell pepper, potatoes an over easy egg on top (my request) and garnished with fresh cilantro! We did the Mt. Tam hike down to Stinson Beach and Breakers Cafe was a recommended place to go to by some friends. We get there and decided to order a bloody mary, fries and the seafood stew. That came out to $46.xx (pricey tbh). We grabbed some self-serve water and sat down. Five minutes rolls by, then fifteen minutes, then thirty minutes... Finally our mediocre fries from the frozen section come to the table and we patiently wait another five minutes for the seafood stew.. The seafood stew finally comes out and you can smell a weird odor coming from the food as if they were serving us a garbage disposal of seafood. I dip a piece of bread into the soup and I had to spit it out, the soup tasted like the seafood was rotten. We then bring it to the attention of the cashier, she goes back to the kitchen and tells the chef. The chef comes out to the front and murmurs something to the cashier and scurries to the back. The cashier asks if we want to order anything else, we decline and the cashier offers a refund but we have to wait for the chef to give her the ok? Well, we get our $24 back for the seafood stew (I guess she didn't want to give us the tax back). 1 star, over-priced, long wait time from order to receiving food (we got in before any type of rush) and last but not least the rotten seafood stew that was served to us. Left a rotten taste in our mouth and not to mention a pretty empty stomach on the drive back home. We probably got a bad batch of the seafood stew as the reviews on here mentioned the dish was good. read more

A comfortable and delightful stop along the coastal highway. We were treated with superb customer service and made to feel right at home. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed. The food came in a very timely manner and boy was it good! I thoroughly enjoyed the oatmeal and a spinach, mushroom, tomato egg scramble with crunchy potato cubes. YUM! My only complaint, though it doesn't really count as an actual complaint, is that they have TOO MANY great meal options! It was so hard to choose! Strong coffee. Refreshing ice tea. Omg!!! This spot offers good food and quality drinks! Safe environment for customers, guest and its own crew! We loved our calamari, specials of the day Pasta Carbonara & Primavera. The wait time also is decent! Super fast service!! And I forgot, since this place is really like secluded area -- this restaurant offers good prices for their food! We rented this space for our wedding, and it was great! They basically surrendered the space to our event from 4PM-10PM (with first hour needed for set up), with the requirement that we use their open bar (with a minimum bar tab). Price to rent the space was much more reasonable than what most places charge, particularly in the Marin/coastal area. My only complaint is that early on, when we were eager to sign the contract and pay the deposit, it was difficult to get ahold of the owner to finalize things. However, once he did it was all fine, and he set us up with the appropriate management and catering people who took it from there. Very cute and reasonably priced wedding venue! Though if you want to do a big sit down thing, I imaging it would be difficult to have more than 80 people sit comfortably where everyone can see and hear each other. We did a cocktail party with no assigned seating, and this venue was absolutely stellar for that. read more

I had lunch here on a weekday with a friend. The menu had a special: Jumbo Shrimp with Classic New Orleans Remoulade sauce. When the food arrived, the sauce was not Remoulade, it was red cocktail sauce with some chopped green onions added, and the shrimp were tiny, not jumbo. When I took the food back to the counter and explained politely that this was not what I had ordered, I was passed along to another staffer, who passed me on to the chef, who apparently is the owner. He was unbelievably rude and basically tried to bully me, telling me I was wrong. I am FROM New Orleans and I know what Remoulade sauce is, and this was not it. He yelled at me and was very obnoxious. I told him I did not want an argument, I wanted something else to eat. DO NOT EAT HERE. Extremely overpriced and the owner is a jerk. read more

I used to love Breakers, now I like it. Best relaxed atmosphere, great priced food, is now a bit expensive, but the people that work there are so nice. Also, it is a great place for dogs. Things have changed. The menu was reduced (all the good stuff removed), the prices jacked and the new menu is not as appetizing, but it still is the best place in Stinson. It's possible that this place is decent if you order strategically, but overall it was overpriced and no care was put into the food or execution. I think my friend and I both experienced mild food poisoning after eating here (onset hours later). After taking lead from other hikers, it seemed that Breakers was the spot after a long day and the seafood tacos were a must. My friend ordered fried fish and I got the shrimp and both were soggy messes. Nothing but vinegary slaw/salsa (that wasn't properly drained) and a tangy avocado crema dressed the tacos drowning barely cooked tortillas for a floppy, sloppy mess with nothing in flavor but acid. It was confusing. There's so much amazing food in the Bay Area that it really irritates me when I get appalling bad food at a high cost, a waste of a good meal and good money. This place is pretty much a tourist trap. The outdoor seating was great, and the bier garden atmosphere was great, but I guess there's a reason why we watched a group of hikers order drinks only - beware of the food. Samuel, If you are going to claim to state the "facts" get them right. You weren't there so I think it's fair to say that everything you stated is here-say. One fact you stated is indeed true - it was Mother's Day. Aside from that: - There were there tables available and one family in the line when the incident occurred - Jose clearly did not recognize that we were still working on our second meal there (my friend was still chewing on her last bite of lunch and I still had a cappachino in my cup that was hot) - My husband as appalled by Jose's behavior and called him and asshole in a volume that only our table heard. He did not drop the f-bomb. None of this changes the facts that your customer service stinks and we will never be back. The sad thing is - we use to be regulars here. In fact, if you go to your Facebook page, the only photo posted is that of my 2 month old daughter sitting in your restaurant back in February. Good luck with your business. with your practices, you won't be around long. We stopped in here as it used to be very similar to Sand Dollar and we had always gotten the oyster shooters. Well, I guess they have since changed ownership (same owner as Sand Dollar now) and it has become Mexican. Not really a bad thing since variety would be good in Stinson Beach area. We got the fish tacos and the breakfast burrito with chorizo, potatoes and eggs. THe fish tacos were NOT worth ever ordering again. For $9.95 I got 2 tiny obviously frozen pieces of fish with some marinated red onions. That's it folks! No salsa. No rice and beens. 2 tiny fish tacos that I can get for $1 on a taco truck and get more toppings. Not even salsa was served with it! The burrito, however, was very good. I would order it again. It was a giant burrito filled with lots of meat and eggs and potatoes. Luckily, since I was still starving, I took a few bites of this to satisfy my hunger. I really think that they need to be a little more consistant about the serving sizes and think a little harder about those fish tacos...... I won't be back for them for sure! My sister and I took my mom here for a late mother's day lunch after surfing in Bolinas. We sat outside, where unfortunately the table cloths and chairs left much to be desired in the cleanliness department. My "grilled veggie panini" was unlike any panini I have ever experienced, and not in a good way. The bread was plain old sandwich bread that had been coated with butter on both sides and toasted. Inside was a disappointing little heap of grilled bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. It was so bizarre and not at all what I look for in a panini. The sis had the crunchy chopped salad, which is advertised to have mixed vegetables, avocado, lettuce, beans and feta. There were no vegetables to be seen in the sea of iceburg lettuce. Very unpleasant experience when visiting for a day trip. The menu looked decent and reasonably priced for the area but customer service was lacking. We visited on 6/7/2014. The head cashier was extremely rude from the start. When asking about beer prices, the cashier informed me that all beers were six dollars while inferring that I should have known this already through some form of mind reading. Hence, there are no prices for beer are located on menu that I could see. After deciding on the Tuna melt and a Lagunitas IPA, I watched him pour me a pilsner. After tasting and letting him know that this was not the IPA I requested he asked me "if I was calling him a liar". At this point we decided to leave after returning my money and no apology. After spending a pleasant day in Stinson Beach with friends this was an unfortunate experience in a beautiful place. As a local living in the Bay Area with years in the restaurant industry, I can confidently say I will not be going back to this establishment on my frequent visits to the area. read more
