There aren't many places in Kelowna that cater to a gluten free diet so when I Googled "gluten free Kelowna" and The Bread Co popped up I was stoked! Finally got a chance to go in, while taking a break from searching for a JOB! Ahem I'm looking for a J.O.B. Ppl!! Tough times, but the chicken cajun sandwich on gluten free bread (made from almond flour, so I was informed) made my day a better one. Not to mention the warm rather well flavoured ham and veggie soup. Perfect portions of each, to satisfy a famished employment challenged individual. It was super busy today, the 4 stars because the only available table had dishes on it that I cleared away myself and I waited close to 20 mins for my order. Definitely recommend this place though, well crafted food obviously made with care. The atmosphere is buzzing but warm, and the staff are welcoming. Oh did I mention the gluten free chocolate chip cookies I bought to go? Yea, those are great! Looking forward to enjoying another meal there for sure! Breakfast next time. read more

We ordered takeout for breakfast twice while we visited Kelowna from Vancouver. The Eggxperience wrap was great and everything tasted fresh, the Tuna club sandwich panini was gourmet and tasted better than anything I can make at home, but service was not good, hence no 5 stars. The cashier for some reason randomly decided to clean this one table in the 10 table restaurant while a 6 person line up was accumulating waiting to order. This was a visit when I stayed at Manteo Beach Club Resort in Kelowna, BC and I was craving crusty bread. I got the baguette, which had a great crunch and texture. It the color seemed light when I bought it, but I shouldn't have worried, because it delivered on flavor. The partner purchased a croissant which was above satisfactory and also took many margarines home, to the timeshare, because I didn't want to purchase an entire tub or stick of butter. They were also having a special on latte I think, and price was $2? for a standard latte which was also a nice treat for the afternoon. Ahhh I remember! (I knew I was a pig) I brought home the butter pie? yes. And I ate it all. The fact that i remembered a plain old baguette first, tells me the bread was better than the butter pie, but not saying I wouldn't have either of them again. read more

I've never had a business charge a higher price than was listed on the menu after I had ordered the item. I ordered something and pointed out that the price on the register was higher than was on the menu board. The employee said that the price must have been increased. Another employee overheard what was going on. She came over and took down the sign, crossed out the listed price with a pen and wrote in a higher price. Wow, brutal. Stopped in for lunch as we had been earlier in the week for sweets and had seen the menu! I had the turkey and cheese sandwich and my mom had the roast beef. Both came with coleslaw. They were both delicious but based on the menu and how amazing everything in the cases looked, I was surprised they used deli lunch meat and not real turkey and roast beef. The bread was good but not mind blowing. I've had much better, but given the limited choices this is probably the best the town can offer in terms of bread. However the pasties we had were awful. Came to have lunch to The Bread Company while on a leisure visit to Kelowna. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and offers a good view of the baking/production area. I ordered the tuna sandwich, and my wife had the Mediterranean salad. The sandwich was average - tuna mixed with mayo, mustard, lettuce, and a side of coleslaw. Both the tuna and the coleslaw could have been better with a bit less creaminess. My wife's salad was described as being loaded with veggies, but consisted mainly of lettuce, red onion (too much of it), and a few other scattered items like olives and cheese. Quite frankly, it did not meet her expectations. The service was also relatively slow, at least for the standards of other cities. Our order (described above in full) took a good 15 minutes to come to our table. Overall, acceptable standards, although I have had better. read more

Great sandwiches and salads especially for the price; tasty, good quantity of food. They were accommodating with my request for the addition of mayonnaise. The coffee is average and same with the pancakes / French toast, which were too much food (would recommend sharing since they don't keep very well as leftovers). I hope everyone understands to ignore the positive reviews and refer to this. The customer service is by far the worst I've ever experienced in my life. the teenage girl at front counter was the rudest,most ignorant human I've ever encountered. She made me wait in line until she (and I quote) said,"i'll get to you when i'm ready."I spoke to management and asked if i can get a simple apology and they said, "sorry, she doesn't want to." the food is OK but there are better bakeries in near locations. On a road trip across Canada's West, I often get stuck in little places without much options for eating. Now that I'm in Kelowna I thought I would finally eat well, and my first pick was The Bread Company, attracted by their pulled pork sandwich lunch special. And I must say, everything was absolutely delicious, including the soup. And at a very reasonable price of 9.50. I will certainly be back during my 3 days stay here. This was a poor choice for lunch today. Poor food and poor attitude. We entered and found people waiting in the entry area. After standing waiting to be seated, we went to a person behind the counter and were rudely told we needed to order and then seat ourselves. We ordered the special (chicken pesto, lettuce, tomato, Havarti cheese, grilled peppers on bread of your choice and served with either soup(Lentil and ham soup or a side salad). We received an oily mess without the peppers and cheese. I ordered sour dough bread and it was just Italian. I ordered ice tea and received a pale yellow drink and was told it was their new ice tea. One sip and I knew it was lemonade. We won't recommend to others or go again. read more
