Not crazy about this place. It's a shame coz we were really looking forward to it. Servers weren't friendly. No smile. No greetings. No attention towards us. We had to call for service. I regretted tipping. Lesson learned - never tip before completing a meal and having the full experience. We waited about 20 mins for coffee. When we followed up, she said "it's coming"; and went about standing there doing nothing. This is insane. Food wasn't great but at least the bread and veggies were fresh. Coffee sucked. Sadly, we threw it away. It felt like the leftover at the end of a brewing pot when we paid for and expected a luscious latte. Not going back. Not a nice vibe. Sad. read more

I encountered a delicious sandwich and salad today! I couldn't find any issues with my lunch today. There's usually something that comes up to make my visit not perfect but that didn't happen today. The food definitely receives five stars from me. I loved the fresh, fresh feta cheese with mint leaves in the watermelon salad. Did I mention crumbled fresh? Yum! :) The BLT that arrived on a toasted seedy bakery bread was so good! The local crisp cucumber garnish gets a thumbs up from me too! The Bread is so good. They know its a good product. As they had run out of the bread I usually get I was referred to the Rye loaf which is a good size for a family. Staff have been appreciative, helpful & enjoy their shop. If I am in the area I go there. Its casual & relaxed dining. or having coffee. The pastries on order looked good and there was a chalk board of offerings that seemed quite expensive for a walk-in pay and seat yourself place. i hate it that all places like this now onky have vegan offerings and not vegetarian. We came in looking for bagels as our bagel search sent us here. No where on the menu stated they had bagels. Nor were there any on display. I had to ask and they said they had bagels. weird why not advertise? Unfortunately they only make two kinds asiago and everything. That's sort of weird. And they onky have plain cream cheese. Anyway we ordered one of each, one toasted and one not toasted and after waiting 15 minutes two were brought out both toasted. We had waited so long we didn't bother sending one back. Ordered the flat white and it was a total fiasco including the foreign service who did not want to hear my suggestion how such coffee must taste. The coffee tasted much worse than the regular brew that would sit there for hours. Not enough espresso and they just poured hot milk in and flattened the top! What a disgrace! On the way back home, we made a quick pitstop for brunch in Kelowna. We randomly decided to try The Bread Co. as B was in desperate need of some carbs. They have a second location in South Kelowna (Pandosy). We dropped in on a Sunday (around 11:45am) and it was packed! Constant line of people coming in. The menu is behind the counter: drinks, sandwiches, breakfast (sweet and savoury), tossed salads, breads and organic. They sadly had run out of hollandaise sauce so we couldn't order any bennies. There's also a weekly special menu along with a few brunch specials for the weekend. - Baguette ($2.10) - super cheap and good sized. Reasonably good texture. Honestly, can't complain too much! - Italian sausage frittata ($12.00) - three eggs, Italian sausage, cheddar, potato, red pepper, onion, avocado, cilantro and salsa. We opted for the multigrain bread (which they buttered). Bread is fresh and slightly toasted. The frittata was actually really good. Cheesy, light and airy, and the Mexican sauce paired well. Good creamy avocado too. I'm not a big brunch/breakfast fan but this was quality and a huge portion. - Bacon egg cheese bagel ($5.99) - egg over medium hard, chipotle mayo, crispy bacon and cheddar on an asiago bagel. I call this place Bread Co. and even though BOTH times I have come here in the past two times were unintentional (Dangit Sunny's - A Modern Diner being closed both times we tried!), I have been so insanely satisfied eating brunch here both times we wound up here. I'll reflect on my experience this past Tuesday morning. First of all, $2 lattes and cappucinos on Tuesday and they are GOOD and creamy and espresso-y enough! Their coffee on my previous experience was definitely solid as well. After glancing at the brunch menu, how could salmon eggs benny not call our West Coast girls' hearts? It was on a croissant served with the classic hollandaise sauce with smashed nugget potatoes served on the side and utterly satisfying. The croissant base make it so buttery and smooth to eat. We also shared the banana pecan brioche french toast because how does the name of that breakfast dish NOT make you want to try it? It was perfectly moist through each bite, with dollops of whipped cream and e maple syrup easily accessible on the side. Both of these dishes I HIGHLY recommend. The time we came before we were disappointed at how small the huevos rancheros were so don't recommend this unless they've made their portion size bigger! Ambiance is awesome with ample seating. Bread Co., located in downtown Kelowna. Great Bakery with a most excellent choice of bread. We ordered breakfast to enjoy there and had a beautiful sourdough bread to go. My friend ordered pancakes. Three pretty big pancakes, with a serving of syrup on the side. He also ordered a side of sourdough bread. The pancakes were too "doughy" for us. The bread, however, was absolutely delicious and I will definitely come back for that alone. I ordered the traditional breakfast and had 2 poached eggs; the eggs were slightly disappointing and I won't order those again here. Sausage was sliced in half, mine was even a little burned. Usually I would have send it back to the kitchen but this time I didn't. Why? Because the sourdough toast was perfection. I finished all that warm slightly buttered goodness on my plate, something I rarely do because I try to stay away from carbs. This? So worth it, every bite was like carb heaven. There. I've said it. I will be back and eat more bread. Just give me bread and coffee. I'll be more than happy. And I'll return to buy my sourdough bread here! read more

The service was ok. It wasn't super fast, but reasonable. Waited for 5 minutes for my salad. I had the bacon salad. The ambiance is very casual and cozy. There are many baked goods to choose from as well food items. According to a colleague of mine, they are known for their salads. I was impressed at the flavour of my salad and the portion sizing. Second time eating here, and it just reinforced its 5 star rating. Super friendly staff. We ordered a chicken pesto sandwich and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Chicken pesto was a solid 9/10, chicken was super juicy and I loved the roasted red peppers and mushrooms. The ciabatta bread was AMAZING like I want to buy a dozen. Best ciabatta I've ever had. The buffalo chicken was absolutely a 10/10. Really nice buffalo sauce that paired very well with the sourdough bread and delicious ranch coleslaw. Also got a texas peach iced tea, forgot to mix it up so the flavour was all down the bottom and it wasn't very sweet until the last bit. If you're in the area looking for lunch, DEFINITELY recommend. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this is the first and last time we will eat here. I ordered the traditional breakfast, which was a complete waste of $15. Toast was cold and barren and the eggs were watery. Basically, a very tasteless meal. My wife didn't like her sandwich either. On the plus side, the service was great. But going out to eat is getting so expensive, the least we should expect is something that approaches value for the money spent. read more

Our first time here in Kelowna and we were looking for a nice bakery to eat lunch at. We were craving sandwiches and figured we'd try The Bread Company. It didn't disappoint! The bread is fresh and delicious and the sauce (herb aioli) is fantastic. They have taken many precautions for covid and the tables were spaced apart. During my trip to Kelowna, I was looking for places to eat quality light dinner. I accidently found this bakery store, looked so good so I couldn't help but to go inside the store! I got ham harvati sandwich. Some artisian bakery places tend to be dry and hard but the bread here is so soft and fresh! The ingredients used in sandwiches are also delicious. It really made my day :) they also sell some quality local coffee beans which i also end up buying it because it smelled so good and special! read more

Great breakfast. Staff was friendly and patient as I put my order in. I had the traditional breakfast and substituted the toast with a biscuit(which was very delicious). If you like quality food (especially bread and baked goods) then you have to check out the Bread Company. Being gluten free and super annoying, I though I would have to order a salad for breakfast! Lucky for me, they had a gluten free bread which was pretty good and super filing. I ordered fresh OJ (with the equivalent of 8 oranges in one cup) and the breakfast sandwich (with avocado, spinach, egg, and tomato). Like I said, really filling. Solid 3.5 stars, probably a 4 normally if it wasn't for the snail-like service waiting for my chicken continental to be made. To be fair, the cashier was efficient but on a Sunday, they were clearly overwhelmed...they give you a number on a stand, and I timed it, 20min! Thankfully did order the chocolate chip cookie, recommended but the cinnamon pretzel's a pass: did have a nice flakey inside with the cinnamon sugar generously sprinkled on top. The sandwich--was good, and be back next time without any hesitation, just when it's not so busy lol. They offer catering. Great spot for breakfast with the locals! We visited on Saturday morning while strolling downtown. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. For breakfast, they offer mostly breakfast sandwiches, french toast, and eggs benedict. They do not offer a wide range of egg dishes since it's first and foremost a bakery. However, baked goods are everywhere -- fresh breads, cakes, cookies, scones, muffins, etc. I had the ham and egg breakfast sandwich which is on freshly baked ciabatta ... SO good and quite filling. Loved the decor of this place. Very rustic chic. I had a salad with added grilled portabello mushroom. It was hearty and a great portion size. My friend had the flatbread with a side salad. She raved that it was delicious. You can tell that everything is made from scratch here and made with care. I didn't indulge in their bread, but my salad did come with a little roll. You could tell it was very fresh and the seeds in it were a great touch. This would be a great place to get your work done with your laptop. Also a perfect meeting spot for a lunch date or a coffee. If you are looking for little touches to add to your Instagram this place offers it. Their little green eat wall sign is something I snapped a few pics of. Went for Mother's Day brunch and were surprised to see they had a little buffet going so decided to give it a try. So glad we did! There wasn't a vast variety of dishes but we far preferred a buffet that chose quality over quantity! At the beginning of the table was a little stand with various pastries on it ranging from little moist, mini scones, little delicious muffins (also nice and moist) as well as an assortment of dessert type items like brownies (fantastic brownies, I might add) and tarts. Next in line were a few salads - fruit salad (that DIDN'T taste like it sat in the fridge all night, picking up various fridge smells, which even seems to happen at upscale hotel restaurants), Caesar Salad & a yummy potato salad. Then on to fluffy scrambled eggs, plump sausages, good quality bacon, waffles as well as toasted slices of their in-house made bread that were buttered with butter. They also had a pan of the small, smashed potatoes, which were a good accompaniment to the eggs and bacon. There was also yogurt and granola but I headed straight for the scones, muffins, eggs, etc. as described above and bypassed the yogurt, etc. Perhaps next time but I could tell those eggs were going to be good so I needed extra room for those. The price also included a coffee or tea and both were delish! My husband looked at me and said that his coffee was so very good and my tea was obviously a good quality brand because it, too, was delish. Like I say, not a ton of variety but we're hoping they do it again for Father's Day because it truly was wonderful! And all for around $20 a head. Very reasonable for that kind of quality. I walked by a table where a fellow was eating Eggs Bennie and I must say that it looked really good so we'll be heading back there just to try out their regular breakfasts soon. With the quality offered on that buffet I'm thinking the breakfasts will also be great. read more

Went to the Bernard location on Thursday, March 19, 2020, and ZERO attempt was made at social distancing. Both cash registers open, crowded restaurant, no seating removed whatsoever. You clearly do not respect your customers or your own staff! I'm immunosuppressed, have been symptom free for days, went to your store today and now my symptoms have come back!! I could DIE from this. You, by not following recommendations, are pretty much attempting to potentially murder both your staff and customers. Pretty much every other restaurant downtown had ceased dine in, and had switched to take out only. The Bread Co. apparently can't even meet the bar that all of their competitors can. Absolutely shameful. Your callousness is appalling. DO BETTER! Profits should never matter more than people! Killer food, reasonably priced too ... no more expensive than other places but better quality. Great baked goods from a traditional old school baker in a contemporary setting. Despite the fact that it is always very busy I can always find a table, which I agree is weird, but true. Hopefully that continues! I saw another review mentioning rude staff. I think that is somewhat down to the individual server, like many places I have had a rather apathetic server there once but on the whole the staff have been really friendly and have a 'can do' attitude whenever I ask for anything off piste.
