While visiting Kelowna, I went to my regular spot. This time, I ordered the Pumpkin and Matcha Latte to enjoy in the café, along with a Maple Pecan Cube Croissant and an apple to take out. The pumpkin cake featured dark chocolate, a sable base, pumpkin pie custard, and passionfruit cheesecake. The pumpkin pie custard resembled the filling of a pumpkin pie and was covered by pumpkin-shaped chocolate. The passionfruit cheesecake layer was not very dominant, allowing for a well-balanced combination with the pumpkin pie custard. The sable base complemented the dessert perfectly. The apple dessert featured apple-lime compote, yuzu mousse, a white chocolate shell, and a sbrisolona cookie base. The apple-lime compote was tangy, but it blended well with the yuzu mousse, making it seriously delicious. I usually can't handle tangy desserts, but I enjoyed this one; it was that good. The sbrisolona cookie included almonds (or possibly other nuts), which added a great flavor as well. The maple pecan cube croissant was very delicious, too. A notable point was the filling; the maple flavor was delightful, leaning slightly on the sweeter side but still so good. The maple drizzle with pecans on top of the cube croissant made it even more delicious. I highly recommend this item! Without visiting Karat, my trip to Kelowna wouldn't be complete. This was a small little pastry shop we came across in Kelowna! I vividly remember it being a cold, snowy day and really needed a hot drink. Stepped into this place, and voila, it did some kind of magic and we stayed in to devour on some cute little pastries they have as well!! It's actually what drawn me this little shop-- simple flavours but unique appearances in terms of how they decorate the desserts. What we ordered: * white chocolate mocha * cappuccino * lemon poppy seed croissant * some sort of fancy cheesy bread * caramel Black Forest cake ( the ) * chocolates: passionate fruit and earl grey (each chocolate was sold individually) The drinks weren't too sweet and did its job on a freezing day! The baked items were amazing-- had the perfect cheesiness & flakiness. However, I did find that the Black Forest Cake was a tad bit on the sweeter side and much more richer in chocolate than I would like. We didn't end up finishing the cake because it felt too rich towards the end. I would have loved to try their other goodies--they had a wide array of options! The owner and employee were both so nice!! The atmosphere was great. It was very modernly decorated with chocolate and coffee on display for sale as well! I believe we went during off season time, and it was pretty much a snowstorm, so I'd assume during other times of the year they'd be more busy. I didn't mind that it was quiet though, it was so nice and calm. It was the perfect pit stop for our trip. They're known for their chocolates, but their entire collection of pastries were delicious as well. If you ever pass by Kelowna, I definitely recommend checking it out!! read more

Magnificent sweets that tempt all the senses! Was wandering downtown Kelowna when the rich smell of chocolate drew me into Karat Chocolates! A simple, whit washed brick building, it's easy to miss if you're not on foot! Their pastry case counter stretches along the length of the small shop and is filled with artisanal French macarons, petit chocolates, incredible desserts and a breakfast pastry case fit to burst! They offer a weekday deal that would be my daily breakfast if I lived here: a pastry and Americano for $6. I ordered a hot chocolate with the cherry cream tart and both were heavenly! The hot chocolate is rich and thick, but not too sweet, and their homemade whipped cream is so creamy it's nearly dense. The cherry tart was a balance of tang and cream, and it was do divine we decided we would return every morning of our stay in Kelowna to sample their pastries! I also purchased a few chocolate bars and a small box of bon bon chocolates to bring home as gifts. I cannot wait to share this delicious discovery with my family! read more

I quite enjoy their croissants and assorted pastries. I also absolutely love the fact they make your coffee fresh and in your face :) yes, you'll have to wait a bit for your sweet goodies but it's fresh!!! And the staff are friendly to serve. Their macarons and their chocolate on display looks divine. I want to say I want to purchase them but it's funny because I'm not really a chocolate fan. But do give it a try as I see a lot of customers actually buy their bonbons as gifts! read more

They have a strong following in Kelowna as their desserts are super cute and IG worthy. They are a specialty boutique and the prices are higher for higher quality. I would actually give them 3.5 stars if I could as the overall experience and food wasn't spectular. I am not sure if it was the time that I went but the staff that I had encountered were keen to help but not very knowledgeable about the products in the shop ( I had asked them about one of the desserts and they had no idea what it was...but they did ask someone else ) I wish they would be more transparent or post the prices of their items instead of having to ask each time. As for the taste, you can taste the quality but I don't know if the price justifies it. They taste like T & T desserts ( which are great) but not the price. Oh my gosh, so I stumbled across this place when looking for a coffee after arriving to Kelowna and dammmmn. The interior is beautiful but my eyes was immediately drawn to all the gorgeous and colourful pastries. I got two pastries because I could resist, a matcha tiramisu and a lychee raspberry cream puff, both of which tasted phenomenal. The service along with the atmosphere and music where all amazing. 10/10 recommend and will be coming back next visit I make to Kelowna :) read more

Amazing pastries! For takeout, we ordered the lemon curd filled brioche pastry with fresh raspberries, hazlenut nutella filled croissant, and raspberry cream cheese croissant. The pastryitself was all flaky, buttery goodness and the fillings and toppings had excellent flavours and textures. Their lemon curd and homemade nutella cream were some of the best pastry fillings I've ever had. OMG everything looked and tasted soooooo goooood! The staff were welcoming and attentive and the dining area inside was beautifully appointed. The bakery also serves coffee and savoury items. The chocolates are incredible, every single flavour is out of this world (even if you aren't keen on the flavour!) The desserts... you look and think, there is no way they taste as good as they look. Karat is my favorite place to go for a 3pm pick me up. The staff there are so kind and friendly, just interacting with them alone is enough to go back. The first sip of a latte or Americano will keep you there. The experience can only be topped with ordering one of their delicious deserts. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. And this is coming from someone who has just moved here from Toronto, a city that is definitely not shy of good food. Their pastries and desserts are exceptional, and I cannot rave enough about their croissants. They are absolutely delicious. I have never been a fan of croissants because I have never had any that had blown me out of the water. Most croissants are just super buttery to cover up the no-so-great dough. They are often too heavy and are really just some extra calories that are unnecessary. But Karat really changed my perspectives on the potential croissants have as a good pastry. They have managed to keep buttery and flaky viennoiserie pastry light and fluffy. My lovefor croissants all started from their lemon poppy seed, custard-filled, glazed croissant. I will never forget that first bite - it was incredible. Their triple chocolate croissant is also to die for. I thought it would be too sweet, but it was just the right amount of sweetness. The added chocolate pieces inside gave it another layer of texture. The almond croissant is a classic, and their savory ham and cheese croissant is definitely a guilty-pleasure if you need a bite on-the-go. I have recommended this place to several friends, and so far they have all loved it. They are only opened between 10-6 and they do sell out, so make sure you get there early! read more

On any given day I have to ask staff to wash their hands prior to handing food (specifically one person, you know who you are) It is common sense to not handle money then food. Or don't re adjust your mask that is falling down again and again, then think that after touching your face it's ok to get my pastry, with out washing your hands!!
