In Kelowna mid-week in July...and it was hot. Met up with friends and went along with them on their regular summer evening walk along the water from the Grand to the downtown area to get ice cream. And when in Kelowna looking for ice cream, one goes to Moo-Lix. As expected on a hot summer evening, there was a line up but it moved fairly quickly. I sampled a few flavours and went to my go to...Salted Caramel. I use Earnest Ice Cream as my bench mark for salted caramel and the Moo-Lix salted caramel was pretty good. Unfortunately, my waffle cone was over cooked and quite hard...very much a first world problem and the cone was still edible. The staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Moo-Lix if in Kelowna in search of ice cream. read more

So I got the Pistachio ice cream on a cone. The ice cream was not bad. But the cone was hard especially when you get to the very bottom. I was told at the bottom is a marshmallow but I don't want to risk breaking my teeth trying to bit or eat the last bit of the bottom of the waffle cone. Yes the waffle cone are made in house, fresh. I watched them make it. The ice cream did melt fast. The place is located right across from the Sail monument. So its basically in the center of the famous Ogopogo Tourist attraction place. You can see people lining up out the door for ice cream across the street. But again the line up goes by really quickly. There are a lot of choices here. Too many choices that I had trouble deciding. I'm not a huge ice cream fan, but every now and then I'll have a craving. Being spoiled with Salt & Straw in Portland and LA I'm always super critical when it comes to ice cream parlors. This place came highly recommended by a local, so I tried and was impressed with the quality and shocked by the size. They've got my favorite flavors and many more. I love how they make their own waffle cones (huge!!). One word of caution: one scoop goes a very long way at Moolix. I will not order 2 scoops anymore, it's just way too much. Also: unless you like fake whipped cream, don't bother ordering this. I wanted to add some whipped cream and saw the fake stuff bottle coming out. Ouch!! You can also choose between a cup, regular cone or their delicious homemade waffle cones. The sizes are massive. It seems most people get the small but even the kids size is sufficient. I ordered the chocolate tofulate (made with soy milk). Tasted just like regular ice cream and was delicious. I highly recommend the waffle cone. Though eat quickly as it can get a bit messy as the ice cream melts and escapes the cone. Prices are on the same side as most ice cream/ gelato places. The kids waffle cone is 4.75 and prices go up from there. There are also other great options such as milkshakes, ice cream floats and sundaes in house made waffle bowls. read more

This place holds a monopoly on ice cream in a very popular Downtown area close to the lake. If the heat of summer didn't drive you straight through their doors, the smell of fresh waffles sure will. They have a large board on the wall with all the available flavours, although I'm not sure that the flavours are necessarily present at all times. There's only so much fridge space. The waffles are fresh, and quite thick? It was hard to eat or break off half way through the cone where it folds. Those of you with weaker teeth might want to watch out for that. It was a tad pricey, but that's what you get when they're the only ice cream shop for miles. It all starts at $4. They have the regular white wafer cones, too. Here's a little clarification of the menu: Kids Cone = 1 scoop Small Cone = 2 scoops Medium Cone = 3 scoops Large Cone = 4 scoops So, a Small Waffle Cone costs $6.50. So, I decided to treat my grandchildren to a little ice cream after spending the day hanging out at the city park. We stood in a fairly short line, made out choices and went to the tillto pay. I gave the cashier my DEBIT card and was told they don't take Visa. My Visa card is a DEBIT card issues in the States. Well, the transaction was not approved, my card was not accepted. I asked if we could try again. I mentioned my DEBIT card was issued in the states. It was at that point the cashier informed me they only take Canadian DEBIT cards. What the hell! The line up was out the door, but the wait was well worth it. Moo-Lix has massive portions (small cup/cone is two scoops)! They make the waffle cones right in front of you. The staff are friendly and fun teenagers. I would definitely suggest the Moose Tracks, which is vanilla and chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups - you can't go wrong! This place seems to be the spot in town, great selection of flavours. The lines were long and the staff working were hating life. We had my 2 kids and another couple had their 2 kids and they give the option of trying flavors. Some of the kids tried some different flavours so they could make the best choice, it could take a minute, they are kids and the option was given to try. Anyhow, I know one of my children love chocolate, no brainer. Done. My other kid she's 4 likes either strawberry or vanilla but she wanted to try a little sample to decide mainly because she saw others trying it. Anyhow the young man with the dark hair-come over style hair, made a comment to his tall red haired friend that "now they want to try strawberry" and they both had a chuckle, i then asked for vanilla and he made that same grunt and walked away and this time we heard him again. The samples were not for me they were for my child I didn't even bother sampling my Salted Caramel, because its seemed like it would be too much to ask ( on a side note, don't get the salted caramel) You are in the service industry, next time you should take a time out and gather yourself if the thought of handing out samples to people proves to be too much. My niece who is 14 said wow, that guy was rude. My daughter chose Strawberry, it was pretty good! read more

I had such a wonderful experience at Moo-Lix! If I could I'd give it 10 stars. Here is a bit about my experience with them... I went in with my friends because they wanted ice cream. I usually cannot have ice cream from these types of ice cream shops because I am allergic to peanuts. So I asked the young blonde girl if I could have any ice cream from here and she assured me I could! She said she would wash the ice cream scooper and get me a scoop of ice cream from the back to assure it wasnt accidentally mixed with peanuts. I was so great full she did that for me!!!
