Went twice in a row. The food is so good here. The bagel & lox is to die for. Big space j side and outdoor area is cool, too.
In addition to the stunning interior decoration and the friendly staff, my tomato basil soup and mini grilled cheese were fantastic. I'm upset only about the fact that I hadn't come here sooner. It's a great place to study, relax, and be amongst others. I'll have to come back and try their cocktails!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Best vibes (always busy but in a good way!), greenery to decorate the interior and delicious food-- you have to try their aioli! Tons of workspace with inside and outside seating. Pet-friendly outside as well :)
Did someone say they need a cute meet cute? Well look no further Brass Tracks is where you want to be! I had the pleasure of working from there today with one of my coworkers. And cheers to us for having a IRL meet up! I loved all of the plants that were around. There is a full bar with yummy food items on the menu. For breakfast we started with two toasted blue berry muffins, a latte and I had the seasonal pistachio honey matcha that was sooooo good! Then for lunch we had tacos. Not pictured are shrimp tacos and I had the beef tacos that were surprisingly really good for a taco snob like myself. Lastly, it was happy hour we had two matcha mules (hold the matcha). They were very tasty and the barista/mixologist knew exactly what they were doing! The customer service was a 10/10! I do wish that the bathrooms could use a little more love with have an air freshener in there as well as a wipe down of the sink because it was water every where. Needless to say next time I'm in HTX I will pay them a visit.
I haven't been to Brass Tacks in more than a year, but I met a former colleague and friend for a coffee and connect, and forgot how much I enjoy it there. It's great for meetings, coworking, or just solo sipping and people watching. I'm on a weird anti-inflammatory Paleo diet right now, and was pleased to see I was still able to order a coconut milk matcha, a side of smoked salmon, and a side of sliced avocado to round out my morning brekkie. Light, healthy, and zero guilt. Drinks come out fast, service is friendly... and it's woman-owned. Five stars!
Brass Tacks is a solid spot with great drinks and a good setup for working, though it is quite popular so finding an open seat might be difficult. I also had a few issues with the Wi-Fi cutting out on me while I was there. I ordered the taro latte and a breakfast taco. The taco was solid, and my drink was great. My friend tried the beet latte and really liked it as well. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the food and drinks, but mayhaps not on a day when I absolutely need a flawless internet connection and a guaranteed table.
This was a round 2 visit for us! Ordering, I believe someone was training so we had 2 people helping us. They both were so incredibly nice. I saw a seasonal drink made with chai, wanted it with matcha which they allowed and it was perfect. Only thing I might recommend is a little less matcha powder being used as it had a bit of a mouthfeel to it. But the flavor was there the quality was THERE. My husband got a patty melt and oh my gosh it was perfect it was hot and melty. We loved it. I got the breakfast taco but I got the egg cheese and bacon this time, last time I got potato and something else and my potato's were cold. I will say I think the tacos maybe just need to be thrown on the grill or something hahaha my bacon wasn't hot but my eggs were! So I'm sure the ingredients are prepped like in any kitchen, but they need some heating and this would go from a 8/10 to a 10/10. Salsa was great too. Flavor was there. We will be back. 100%. They impressed us this time and truly redeemed our last visit from a couple years ago. LOVED it and cannot wait to come back and sit outside.
I had this pbj and bacon sandwich that I enjoyed! It was sweet and savory. I also had a Thai tea which was very flavorful. I would order again. They had cocktails on the menu as well, but I didn't do any drinking this day. This place is really cute on the inside and outside. I didn't spend much time inside except to order because I was with a larger group so we sat outside. However, both inside and outside were very nice. Outside was a bit more chill and the inside was a bit more lively. The service was great, but I had to order inside and they don't bring you your food if you're outside or at least they didn't that day. So I had to go back in and check to see if my food is ready. The parking is OK. I went on a weekday and I was lucky to find a spot in the lot, but some of the people I was with had to park down the street. I would return. This is a cute coffee shop/study space/cocktail hour if you like that too lol
If you're looking for a spot to study, I would advise coming early bc it's pretty difficult to find a seat. In terms of food/drink, a pretty good cafe! Lots of unique items on the menu, I enjoyed the beet latte a lot! Spring rolls were more seasoned than I'm used to, and pretty filling. Service wasn't the best, but vibey edm beats.
Brass Tacks is by far my favorite coffee shop in Houston! It's a staple spot for University of Houston students since it's only about 10 minutes away from campus. But I still come back and show this spot to friends who visit even after graduating. The vibes are honestly just amazing here and there's plenty of natural lighting. I love that there's PLENTY of really delicious food options offered. (This helped with the long study days I'd spend here.) I love their breakfast hammich, pancake balls, and chicken quesadillas (beef quesadillas were okay but not my fav). I've enjoyed their London fog and chai. I most recently tried their iced sugar-free vanilla latte with whole milk, which wasn't my personal fav because it was overly sweet, but my family liked it. There's plenty of seating available throughout the two stories, but it can get packed really fast. Sometimes it can be tough to find a spot to sit at, so you may need to share with other people at the large tables. It can also get loud here, but nothing that some noise cancelling headphones can't fix. The wifi can be a little spotty, so sometimes I've had to use my hotspot. There are two small parking lots available, but those can get full pretty quickly throughout the day. Thankfully, street parking isn't too difficult in the closeby neighborhoods. Overall, I love Brass Tacks. It's such a happy place for me, and I can't recommend it enough!

The staff and baristas are all very friendly and knowledgeable in their fields. I had the pleasure of ordering with Emily A. and she was super sweet. The prices are fair for the portions and quality of flavors that are provided. I love that there are people of all walks of life at this place and it somehow still feels intimate and inviting. The blueberry muffin latte was out of this world flavorful and had blueberry muffin crumbs on top as a garnish that settled well the drink itself. The sweet potato fries are fairly seasoned and cooked to the perfect level of crunchy and soft texture. I will be back time and time again because of the quality in the food and flavors in the drinks. I cannot recommend this place enough. Definitely a hidden gem in this beautiful city of Houston. Not to mention the all day breakfast!!! What more could you ask for in an establishment?? 10/10 across the board best place to be !!
My favorite go to cowork spot! Great food, coffee and vibes! Plenty of seating and the service is great! Staff always so kind and helpful! The parking is a bit tricky but once inside you're good to go! I highly recommend
This was my first time here but have heard great things. The food is really good. I didn't have any expectations except for the vibe. The staff is very friendly and so helpful with the menu, the mocktails were so refreshing and it's a really good place to do work and study. This place was a nice place to hang out, date, or study. I got really nice chill vibes here. There's a bar inside, loft area for more seating, area in the back with some tables, tables outside, cubicles, and more tables spread out. They had so many drinks to choose from and some food. I liked the variety of things they had to offer and I think I even saw a window for people sitting outside to order at. I only tried a couple of drinks. The first one I tried was the matcha average mule and I guess if you like Moscow mules you would enjoy this. I didn't really find the matcha flavor strong or there at all. It had a lot of the lime flavor more than anything else. The other drink I tried was the pretty in pina which is basically a pina colada. That drink was my favorite amongst the two. It tasted like your classic pina colada. Service was also great I didn't have any issues. read more

Spent the day working remote at brass tacks and I got to try more of their food menu! They currently have seasonal fall drinks as well and I tried out the cinnamon roll matcha! The matcha here usually never disappoints and isn't too strong or watery. The cinnamon roll made it taste like cereal milk and matcha which was definitely not a bad touch. The breakfast taco was great, I liked the salsa they used, and the chicken gyro was also great. I'd say both food items were seasoned great and the perfect moisture. The food definitely had sauce and was juicy, but not wet. Thursday morning wasn't too packed as well and there's always hella tables and tabletops to do some work. Also so many outlets along the floor! Great vibe to get some work done! read more

Such a cute spot! Want to come back to work and read a book from here. The food was really good. My chicken gyro was really good and my fries were super crispy! There was plenty of places to sit inside and. Very cute patio. Parking in the establishment is limited, there was plenty of street parking. Very common for places on this side of town. Food came out super fast. read more

OMG I JUST DISCOVERED BRASS TACKS. Happy Birthday to my best buddy in the world Jonathon. We were able to celebrate the birthday of the man who created America's first Degree in Chess at Brass Tacks in Houston Texas. The parking great! Atmosphere superb! STAFF IS AMAZING (happy birthday May 9th to Jada! Special thanks to Tina, Alexa, Matthew, Jada and one more young lady whose name I didn't get. The night was magical and the event out of this world. Brass Tacks is a laid-back bar and coffee shop tucked into EaDo--part cozy hangout, part creative hideout. Didn't get around to the cocktails this time, but the chai Legit. Pro tip: ask for it with heavy cream. Trust me. Rich, smooth, just the right amount of spice. Cool vibe, no pressure, and the kind of spot you could post up for hours. I'll be back next time for the cocktails. read more
Brass tacks is certainly a well-known cafe on the east side of downtown and it's certainly earned that title through its drinks and service! I had the honey pistachio matcha latte which was very yummy. It seemed to me that what looks like "foam" on top of the drink was straight up frothed ice cream, which I actually enjoyed a lot but it did throw me off because it was sweeter than what I was expecting. The space itself is really nice, lots of nooks and tables to study on your own or with a partner/group, however due to it's popularity you'd be hard pressed to find one of the better spots. Parking also becomes a big pain during peak hours, but if you're able to nab a spot it's worth the trouble. It's out of the way from me, so I rank it just a bit lower due to the difficulty of actually coming out to visit and the uncertainty of securing a good spot. read more

And all the seating inside was taken (because I was with 3 additional people) but there was plenty of outside seeing. Service was friendly. You order at the counter and they call your name. Pretty good size food menu. The drinks we had were delicious especially the seasonable apple chai! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee places to go! I love plats! And they have a lot of them all over the place which makes the atmosphere relaxing the place is very big and you can have different spots to enjoy your coffee i like the affogato coffee and ice coffee and they are always very friendly I always have a good time here and the good thing is they close late and it's rare to find a place like this in Houston read more

BrassTacks is a gem of mine! I try not to be selfish and keep it a secret, but what can I say? LOL The ambience is energetic and refreshing -- it's a great place to study or simply unwind. The food is solid, and I believe they've added some new items to the menu that I'm excited to try before giving a full review. I tried their almond honey pistachio matcha latte (with oatmilk) and fell in LOVE! Their service is exceptional. I especially love how they sing your name when it's time to pick up your order -- it's such a fun and unique signature touch that adds to the charm. The music is just right -- not too loud -- making it the perfect spot to chill with loved ones or enjoy a peaceful solo date. Special shoutout to Alexa, who was super helpful during my visit a few days ago! I'm already looking forward to trying the delicious coffee beverage she recommended next time I stop by. read more

This was my second attempt to visit. The first time I came on a weekday around 11 AM. The place was packed and I could not find a spot to sit. This visit I was smart and arrived at 8 AM on a Saturday. I took the last spot in the small parking lit in front. I was surprised that it was already semi- full. I was able to snag a good table. What an absolutely beautiful coffee shop. I could read here all day. So fun that all the plants are for sale. My breakfast taco (cheese, potato, egg) was very good. The only downside which actually surprised me was the drip coffee. It was really,really, really strong. I had to add a lot of half-and-half and sugar. Our server was so sweet and helpful. If you want to impress friends and family bring them here! read more
I really enjoyed my time here at Brass Tacks! I came here after hearing a lot of people recommend it. Parking can be a bit of issue, so prepare to potentially parallel park. I got their rose latte, and it was really good! Service was awesome, as well! They made me feel very welcome even though I had never been there before. Ambience is nice, there's A LOT of seating, BUT because it's so busy you might have to move around for the ideal spot because it does take some time for tables to open up. read more
A favorite coffee shop that I will always go to even if it's out of the way for me. I'm never disappointed by whatever espresso drink I get - the flat white is the best of them all though. The shop is busy at all hours of the day - so, it may be hard to get a table. Some outlets are on the ground in the walking path and it makes it awkward to plug your laptop in. read more
My first time here. My friend and I came to study and hang out all day and we found this studying ambiance is really nice and motivating to get our assignments and studying in. The food here is also good and fresh! Service was speedy, tables are always looked after, cleaned and picked up. You really could stay here all day and they have everything for you to lock in! Really recommend! read more
This place is almost always busy and I understand why. Such a large building so there are plenty of seating areas that all have a slightly different feel to them. I love the fact that they serve real food, not just pastries, in addition to coffee, so you can get work done and stay awhile. It's also a super cute meet up spot to catch up with friends. Probably one of my favorite coffee places to get work done, although inside can be a bit dim and loud at times. Also love the happy hour options. Big bonus that it's open late and has yummy drink options! Probably my favorite coffee/third space meeting area I've ever been to. read more

Brass Tack's cool red brick building is a gem! Seating outside under a row of trees. Seating inside is ample with nooks, a loft and larger tables for groups. Live plants and bright windows add to the charm of this place. Coffee was good - Merit is always a good choice for a bean. The warmed chocolate chip cookie was delicious. I truly enjoyed Brass Tacks! Recommended to me by my fellow yelper KeAndra, it was just what I needed. I love how huge it is, so much bigger than it looks from the parking lot. The service was nice & my barista helped me talk through some options and we decided on one of the holiday specials: The Eggnog latte, iced with pump of Toffeenut. So good! I'd also come back & work here but because it is a bustling environment, I probably wouldn't take any meetings here. It's not super quiet which I don't mind because I like background noise so if you're looking for a quiet coffee shop try elsewhere. They do also have these nooks where you can that are built into a side wall which are really cool and give a little more of a private feel. The very back felt a bit more quiet as well with more people coworking back there it seemed. I enjoyed my visits to Brass Tacks & can't wait for next time when l can stay longer. read more

Okay, today was my second time coming here, so fair to say i gave it another shot before i left a review. First thing is Brass Tacks is a very very busy spot for obvious reason the place is esthetically nice. There is plenty of places to sit at, don't confuse that with " you will be able to find a sit " because you won't. It is super busy. I am a student so i come to places like this to study and be productive. Because of how busy it was the internet was going in and out. Coffee is very mid, customer service was okay at best, because they are usually busy they rush you while you are ordering, so asking for recommendation is out the window. Place is cute, but at the end of the day. If you know you have a lot of business from students and people that need wifi, HAVE A STABLE WIFI. If you got it like that, and you are ready to run up your Hotspot, then this might be your spot... i guess. read more

Don't be fooled, this isn't any old coffee shop. Brass Tacks is both an impressively stunning coffee cafe and simultaneously a place to see and be seen. After navigating parking (which is always full), you're greeted with a handful of seating experiences, various levels, tons of natural light, plants for sale and ofcourse coffee, tea...and beer. They've expanded the menu since my last visit, so I was delighted to find a pretty expansive selection of food items, and alcoholic beverages (including a few seasonal specialities). Fair warning, while I love that this spot welcomes a variety of patrons (folks on 1st dates, students studying, hipsters, co-workers, friends meeting, adult child and their parent pow wows, remote workers), I've never seen the dining area any less than full. It can a bit awkward nabbing the last seat in the shop, then hoping no one steals it while you head to the counter to retrieve your coffee, but in my experience, setting a glass of water and a few napkins at my table causes less anxiety than leaving my computer as my place keeper, and its just as effective. On this visit, someone was holding a private party in their back room so it was not open to the general public...who knew! From the items I've tried, I'd recommend their oat milk Cortado as an expresso based drink, the iced Burberry hibiscus tea with agave over the iced jade cloud tea with agave (the blueberry hibiscus is richer in flavor), the tomato basil soup + mini grilled cheese (yes it is mini) OR the chicken pesto sandwich over the tacos. Of the three, surprisingly the sandwich feels the lightest. Overall for how busy they are I'm always impressed that my wait time to order never exceeds 5 minutes, and always fresh, my order never takes more than 10 minutes to prepare! While I'd love a format where my order was brought to me, I've only had my seat stolen once lol, which imo is a win! Keep doing good things Brass Tacks, can't wait to enjoy the patio come cooler weather. read more

A friend and I pick random coffee shops to work remotely at and Brass Tacks was this session's winner! This coffee shop is a lot bigger than I expected it to be and has a very nice outdoor area. This was my first time visiting and the person who took my order was super sweet and gave good recommendations. I went with the grilled cheese and added *crispy* bacon, along with a flat white. Even with adding bacon, my order was only $13! A flat white at Starbucks is $7 alone - it was $5 here! It was a nice surprise to see that they had a bar and I'll def be back to visit read more
