We ordered takeout for the burger challenge over the weekend and WOW not only were the burgers exceptional, the fries were perfect. They were the perfect amount of crispy and they kept their crisp even as they sat in the to-go container. We got a growler of the Golden Ticket golden ale and it was a great beer to drink in the sunshine while we enjoyed our food. read more

We called Brass Ring Brewing to ask if they could accommodate a party of 10. The man on the phone introduced himself as Chris,the owner, and stated, "we would love to have your party of 10 come here." So, after receiving a warm welcome on the phone, we proceeded to the Brass Ring. We were not disappointed. While the menu is small, it had enough of a variety to fit our needs, including a kids menu. I had the pulled chicken BBQ that was delicious. The rest of my party was also very pleased with the food and drinks. I had the Irish Stout, a smooth chocolatey, coffee stout that was quite tasty. We had great service and Chris, the owner, made a point of coming over and giving us a personal welcome to the Brass Ring. The next time I go to Grand Rapids this brewery will be on my list of places to visit. read more

You will be hard pressed to find another brewery with as much heart and soul at Brass Ring. They truly go above and beyond to connect with their community, making them an example of what a neighborhood bar really should be. Case in point: they go block by block with an invite for their regular planned, neighborhood-only meet up night at the brewery. Neighbors meet each other. People meet a local business owner. The area supports a local business with their money. And everyone has a craft beer- Win! Win! Win! Now as for the beers and menu- I will say they are new and it appears they are still learning as they go with what works and what people want. But for me as a customer, that tells me they are responsive to feedback, they want to get it right, and they aren't stuck in their ways with food or with beer. During the two visits I've had, the beer wasn't bad necessarily but seemed inconsistent. I inquired during my second visit that my beer tasted a little different than last time and it turns out they had done a few things differently leading to a slightly different taste. I appreciated that the staff was honest about their brewing methods and comfortable enough to talk me thru what may have happened with the batch. It made me that much more of an informed drinker. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a drink and a bite. Server was very nice and obviously knew the menu well. They had a brunch and abbreviated menu until 4:00. We had several very good beers, my favorite was the Irish Red. I had the chicken BLT which was delicious. My husband had the Cheez-licious grilled cheese with bacon and potato salad. Our food was outstanding. I love that they are family owned and local. Spoke to one of the chefs who said everything on the menu is scratch made or locally sourced. The night we went was not a good experience, the toilet in the lady's room was overflowing. I got the special and it was cold and seemed like it was made in the morning and served to me at night chicken was dried out. The college b-ball games were on and they have one tv in an awkward location so that not everyone could see it and the people who were sitting in front of the tv were blocking it. read more

In town for the weekend and decided to try Brass Ring Brewing. This place is a gem on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. We chose a flight: Country Preacher, Wilde Irish Red, Rock Steady, Danny Whizbang, and 8-Pound Hammer, and could not pick a favorite. They were all ah-mazing. Incredible flavors compared to other small brew pubs in the area and I understand the owner and his two sons brew all the beer. The food was top notch with fresh, local ingredients. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese. Delish! And the flank steak entree was done to perfection. Will definitely be back next time we're in town! read more

This brewery is a short walk from my house and I've enjoyed every beer they offered. There always seems to be a new beer available and the variety is just large enough to never get boring. The staff is very friendly, the decor is tavern dark, and there's occasionally live music. The food isn't very good. There always seems to be one element of the meal that's baffling. Chicken pot pie...with a tomato sauce base? Great tasting nacho toppings served on generic round tortilla chips? Things like that. Come for the beer, but I suggest you eat before you get there. read more

Came here for Brunch and had the stuffed French toast. Oh my gosh, my tastebuds were in heaven. The food was sooooo good and fresh! The Bartender (owner) was as kind as could be and made sure we had a great experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere is great and is a great place to hang out. We had the beef jerky, stuffed French toast, and the Pork belly tacos. Couldn't get enough of all three. As for the beer, we loved the Wayfarer IPA and Liquid Spirit. Beer was tasty. Had a flight of 5. Wife had soup. Lukewarm first serving. Asked to warm up. After 10 minutes it came back lukewarm. Don't know about the food other than, the soup is not hot. However, they didn't charge us for it. Service was good. Owner apologized for the soup and asked us to give them another try, which we hope to do. Comfortable, well maintained place. read more

When I say above and beyond, I mean bed bath and beyond. First off, they used 2-ply toilet paper which you rarely see and that's how you know they care. Their GM Michael was the above for sure. First off, 10/10 and my gf thought I was going to leave her mid beer. When she did storm off after stabbing me with a fork, the staff quickly applied pressure and mopped up the blood. Beyond the craft brews, let me tell you about the food. There is a limited menu and whatever you choose from that it will be amazing! The pot belly tacos, dill potato salad and pickled red cabbage... I cannot stress the delight of flavors that mix and mingle in your mouth! The atmosphere is welcoming, easy going and friendly. It's a very community oriented highlighted by a gorgeous community table filling the center of the room. This is more than your neighborhood pub. This feels like family. read more

We stopped here early afternoon on Sunday. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but that was the highlight of our visit. There was a bit of confusion about regular food offerings during brunch time, but they were willing to make the normal menu. They were out of bangers and mash, so I ordered the pot pie. What I got was basically a fairly bland soup reminiscent of a pot pie... with a biscuit on top. My husband got the steak and fries. He said the fries were good and the steak was okay. My husband and I just happened upon this neighborhood brew pub during our recent visit to Grand Rapids. I've never been able to say that I LOVED each beer that I sampled. It was difficult to pick what I wanted to drink. In addition to the outstanding beer, the owners, staff, and fellow patrons were a pleasure to be around. Awful experience. Their website states "reservations are encouraged and guarantee your table for an hour and a half." I made reservations weeks ago to support local and so my kids could experience the shanties and Christmas lights at night. I confirmed reservations the day before, but we showed up tonight to find our reservation had been given away to someone without a reservation. Apparently the reservation guarantee isn't something the owner, Chris, or his staff, a/k/a his son and daughter actually care about. Brass Ring's staff initial promise to "make things right" with some brass ring coins and swag, magically disappeared, just like our guaranteed reservation. It speaks volumes that Chris would rather hide in the back then address the issue. Mike (owner's son) confirmed our reservation in the system and offered to make things right - how about a January 2 reservation? Please support those local businesses who hold true to their promises and reservations and who care about the local customer clientele, from my experience it is clear Brass Ring doesn't. read more
