    Wettt sandwich

Go here fairly often when I want a decent beer and a good sandwich. Was pretty good for awhile. Their brewer left and all they had was beer from other places for awhile. I guess they have someone new and have a couple of their own beers again and they're not bad. They made the menu smaller, but the food has taken a turn though. Two trips in a row were poor. First had the fish, usually pretty good, but the fish under the batter was silver and grey colored and super hard. Like it was bad or wayyy under done. Cod when cooked is white. Asked the waitress about it, she came back after awhile and said she was told that's the way fish is. Uhh, not sure what that means, but couldn't eat it at all, didn't eat any, still charged for it. Should've took a pic. Next trip, the bread was soaking wet with something and just mush. Waitress again said that's the way it is. I guess the way their food comes now is nasty. She asked if I wanted it, and I said no, so she took it and promptly charge me for it on the bill. I guess their new way of doing business. Fortunately there are better places and I don't have to go back.

We've never been disappointed here. The beers are good to great. The menu offers a nice variety of starters, burgers, pizza, sandwiches and main dishes. The sandwich combinations are tasty. Not your mommas tater tots. A nice appreciation of bacon (!). Free dessert on your birthday, and no singing. Try it, you'll like it.

Had great service by this crew. Enjoyed a meal of appetizers for lunch. A friend and I got the cheesy breadsticks, sweet potato fries, beer bread and cheese with house chips, and buffalo boneless barbecue flavor wings. She brought everything out the first time correct and was great on keeping tabs on us and refills. Definitely returning again for more appetizers.

Hit or miss! Just ordered food for the fam, asked for Mac and cheese and broccoli for the kids. Normally they have the best Mac but this time I received spiral noodles with unmelted shredded cheese and literally a box with one piece of broccoli . Fish and chips good but again, I think it might depend on the day of the week on whether you get good food or not!!

My family and I stopped by for lunch on Sunday, and I was surprised to see that Big Boiler offers a Sunday-only brunch menu. Figuring it was fate, my dad, my brother-in-law, and I ordered from this menu. My dad ordered the hash without bacon, my brother the breakfast burger with chips, and I asked for the beer pancakes without bacon. My sister made her own burger and my mother ordered the 8 oz. top sirloin. My dad also ordered a 10 oz. mango tango craft beer, while my brother opted for the blueberry bliss. The drinks arrived first, where my dad shared the mango tango with me and my brother let me try some of his drink as well. Afterwards, it took a while before our food was ready. I suspect it's due to how many locals like to come after church (some children were also seated and enjoying meals with the family), like our family. The area is spacious, and a full bar is available right when you walk in, as well as select TVs showing a few sports channels to keep most people interested. Earlier last year, I had the opportunity to go to their reserved banquet space upstairs, and it was a neat, private area where you can arrange parties and get-togethers for just about anything. The bathrooms are also clean and nicely kept. Honestly, I have nothing against this place, but I would just warn you to stick to the beer and burgers and steer clear of anything else. The burgers look well put-together and are generously portioned (like how most people want them to be), and the mango tango and blueberry bliss ciders were sweet enough to accommodate most Michiganders taste for yeasty yet tarty apple beer (the menus even list the level of bitterness for each drink, a helpful guide for any novice). HOWEVER, the pancakes, hash, and scrambled eggs both came with were mediocre at best. My pancakes, aside from being made with beer, were nothing special or even good. They tasted okay, but the cakes were almost crispy and dense, not the fluffy thick stack that Americans have come to love. The syrup did little to provide more flavor, and honestly, I would much prefer to have just made my own pancakes at home (they aren't as fluffy as IHOP's, but they are eons better than the ones here). The eggs, were served unceremoniously folded like a rubber and tasteless napkin, not necessarily scrambled but like an empty, thin omelette. Likewise, my dad found his hash meal bland and not the best. I am not sure when this Sunday brunch menu started, but it's clear that little thought or skill goes into actually making most of what's offered. In which case, the Boiler would do better in not offering it at all! Granted, both my father and I omitted the bacon from our meals, so I cannot have a say in whether their bacon game could salvage our meal, but I doubt it. I mean, my pancakes wasn't even served with butter; nuff said.

Stopped by for a couple drinks and ordered a couple crunchy appetizers. Shrimp and jalapeños did the trick.

Experience was not great. Atmosphere was bland like the overpriced food. Water was terrible as was the beer. Won't refer or visit again.

I got the pickled jalapeños on the side because I didn't want it too hot.

They were just o.k., a little dry. The beans were nasty, couldn't eat them. The cornbread muffin looked like it was made in someone's garage, didn't even try it. The only potatoes they had was waffle fries or tots. The tots came out just slightly warm. Most BBQ joints have smashed or mashed potatoes or potato salad. No coleslaw. Have plenty of food left. Didn't even bother taking it home. The one glass of beer I had was good. Did give the server, Zachary, a 20% tip. He was a nice young man and a hard worker. It wasn't his fault the food was nowhere near worth the $29.68 I spent.

I was happy to see several standard British beer styles on the tap list. Additionally, four beers on cask beer engine. Also the fact they serve half pints meant I could try several styles. Atmosphere is always bumping--there's live music and other themed nights and it was jam packed on a Tuesday night. Vibes and beers are unmatched in my opinion. Big fan of the Golden Ticket and the Wilde Irish Red Ale or again, whatever is on cask. As far as the food goes, it's definitely... brown plates all around. Fryz'licious was slightly overpowering with the amount of beer cheese slopped on there, but a good bite with some hot sauce. Big fan of the beer cheese. Those Nantucket Backing pretzels are 10/10. Fish and chips weren't great. Not a lot of fish--two pieces with more batter than cod. Sort of disappointed with that. St. Patrick's Day specialty menu replaced their chicken pot pie with a sheperd's pie and a Bailey's cheesecake. Sheperd's pie was a good bite, exactly what I'd imagine lamb, mashed potatoes, and peas/carrots would taste like. Cheesecake was heavy handed on the booze, but a good palette cleanser after all the fried food.
