This place is great. I wanted to try a local brewery, but also one that felt local and not too manicured. So I stopped by Greyline. Parking was easy as they have their own lot. As soon as you walk in, there are games, chips for sale, and a water cooler with reusable cups. The place was busy. Many folks eating and drinking. There were two seats at the bar, both on either side of a young lady; so I asked if I could take one and she said yes! As it turned out, she was an off duty employee just having a beer. We chatted a bit while I ordered a flight. I love that the flight is not limited. You can have as many 2.5 ounce beers as you want! Each are priced separately. I perused the food menu and checked out the merch. Sadly they did not have the tshirt I liked in my size. They also sell beanies, glassware and hoodies. Oh, and beer to go! I enjoyed the two IPAs with Good Good being my fave, followed by IPA#1. The porter was good and so was the Kona brown. The fade was my least fave, and it pretty much tasted like Guinness, but I did drink it all. I have preferences but I also have values! Lol. The off duty employee and I chatted awhile, even looping in the bar tender and my other bar stool neighbor, especially when it came down to naming the artists on the decorative candles (see pic). We were having so much fun that we decided on her having another beer and me getting a couple more samples. The Mosacca IPA was really good. The Economy, gotta love the name, was also good and the most affordable beer! Look at them looking out for the people. Loved this place. The locals are friendly. Did not eat but all the food I saw looked good! Would return to enjoy more beer, fun convos and to buy a size small shirt! read more

Nice clean interior. Easy to park. Free popcorn. Friendly bartender. But the beer. So I need to start by saying, I go to a lot of breweries and am a beer snob. I tried 5 beers- solshine(wheat), fade(nitro stout), porter, rambler(red ale), Kona brown(coffee ale). I liked 2 of the 5. The Fade was a decent nitro oat stout. The Kona Brown a solid brown coffee ale. In my opinion, that is a pretty big miss for a brewery. And I didn't love any of them. My husband got the peach mango sangria which was quite good, although a bit sweet. I didn't try any of the IPAs so maybe those are good. Nice outdoor area and the food menu looked good. I wanted to like this place and would probably come back and sit outside and try some food. read more

We had a lunch date at our favorite brewery today! They recently added four Koegel dogs on a delicious bun for $3, $4 and $5. Amazing price!! The potato salad has a hint of blue cheese and is yummy! The menu is extensive with nachos, sliders, tacos, Reuben's and other handhelds. The atmosphere is cozy and fun. They have live music several nights a week at 7pm. Came for dinner during the week and thought it was decent. Nothing spectacular but it was fine otherwise. They have a really cool space with quite a few tables inside and an outdoor area with casual seating. I had their solshine beer and it says on the menu that it's an American wheat but dang this tasted so hoppy. It tasted like an IPA to me. My friends and I split the deviled eggs and these were very good! It's hard to go wrong with deviled eggs and they hit the spot. For my entree I had the west side dip which is a roast beef sandwich served with au jus to dip in. Like I said before, it was fine! Nothing crazy. Servers kept coming to check on us to make sure we had what we needed which was nice. Everything was fairly priced. I wish they had fries as an option instead of chips! read more

The beer is overpriced for the quality. The quality of beer has declined from last year. I tried 6 different beers they were all poor. The wheat beer was just awful.. the light beer called Prime was ok. I just expected more from what I tasted in 2024. I will not come back. Also there is no service whatsoever. The new policy is to go up to the counter to order. Maybe the blame should be shared with the state of Michigan. read more

Passing thru GR, a good local brew and a sandwich sounded like a good dinner plan. Greyline was not too far off the highway, so there we headed. It's a very cozy space mostly painted...grey. It fits with the industrial surroundings. We were waited on quickly and got samples of 3 beers, a hoppy wheat, a dry IPA, and an American black ale. Both the hoppy varieties were good, but the black ale stood out. Lots of body, lots of bite, chewy like a good oatmeal stout. We sent our server back with orders for two pints, as well as for a cajun chicken sandwich and a chicken reuben. I will remember that black ale for a while, though the sandwiches were forgettable. Just not much flavor. The cajun-spiced chicken barely gave my tongue a tingle, and the homemade bleu cheese dressing either got spread too thin or didn't have much of the bleu to begin with. But the mayonnaise definitely came through. My wife's reuben likewise had little flavor except for what she spread the 1000 Island dressing on. So, 4 stars for the beer, 2 for the meal, 3 for Greyline. read more

I cannot stop thinking about the fluffy Nantucket bread my sandwich came on. I got the jive chicken, which was a tad spicy for me, and it was delicious. We also ordered chips and salsa to share. Prices are a bit up there for a sandwich where you still have to pay for a side but you definitely will be full. Beers are good with a good variety of crafts. Bartender was friendly and sweet, answered my beer questions very patiently on my first visit. Loved the black ale and the Almost Famous breakfast stout, full flavored but not overly rich or heavy. Good variety of styles offered, from wheat beers, to IPAs, to a berry milkshake inspired "smoothie ale" called Blueberry Brunch. This is definitely a place where you need to get a flight to try as many as you can! My toasted chicken salad sandwich was also lovely. The decor and ambience definitely give off the 2010s hipster industrial chic vibes. Sleek and cold, open concept, trendy but not very comfortable. Exposed pipes on the ceiling painted black, naturally. You seat yourself and pick up your food at a counter. I do have plenty of nostalgia for that pre-Covid-era style brewery, but it feels like a dated cliche in a state teeming with craft breweries. Haven't Michigan breweries long since moved past this bare-bones aesthetic of service? Even Founders has proper sit-down style dining now. It doesn't ruin the experience, of course, I just feel like they could up their game by letting go of the past a little and moving with the times. The food was very tasty and delicious. Nachos to start was an excellent choice and most chips were loaded which is the sign of a good dish! Also had some in home sauces to add for an extra flavor and kick! (One mild and one hot) Our sandwiches were equally packed with flavor and prepared fresh. I was surprised by the variety and selection offered. They had everything from lagers to Imperial IPAs. I chose Almost Famous which is a delightful and strong chocolate coffee oatmeal stout. It was robust and full of flavor. I'd definitely go back for the beer. Dinner was the maple brisket slider and a cup of Mac and cheese. The slider was tasty but Mac and cheese disappointing. Stopped in for lunch on a quick pass through. The Cubano Slider and Chicken Taco were excellent! The beer was pretty dang good too.

This is a pretty good lunch spot! Their menu is loaded with yummy items. So far I've only tried salads (southwestern and Cobb) and they are fine. The picture I've included is the bruschetta. It's yummy, but it's served cold and I prefer it warmed. My bf tried one of the hot dogs and potato salad. These were both Excellent! The hot dog had nice firmness and the bun was good! The potato salad is easily some of the best in town! Definitely stop by and give it a shot. They have tons of sandwiches that look delicious. read more

We headed to Greyline after talking to someone who worked at Founders. He explained that the head brewer of Founders left for a bit to start Greyline and then returned. I really like the atmosphere of the brewery. It's very clean and trendy, and it reminded me of a brewery we went to in Sevilla. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a flight and chips and salsa with cheese. On a long weekend of brewery hopping, Greyline was stop number 16 of 17. I would have thought I would have been burned out by then, but Greyline was refreshing enough to be a pleasant surprise. We tried the DryPA and the Green Jacket (Double IPA). Both were very good. We were also hungry enough to order some food. The pretzels and beer cheese were pretty good - the pretzels were surprising big and soft braided pretzel style. The cheese was nothing amazing, but hit the spot. We heard that this brewery was started by one of the old brewers at Founders, so we decided to stop in. We came during covid season and had a great experience, so I can only imagine that it's even better under normal circumstances. We ordered a flight (they sell small pours of all their beers) and really enjoyed the IPA's. They offer a small selection of beers, but everything we tried was great. They were not serving food when we came in, but they seemed flexible on bringing in your own food. Very friendly staff and good beer! You can't ask for much more. read more

Shakey Knees! Shakey Knees!! It was one of the best stouts I've ever had from a microbrewery. We visited on a weeknight so it wasn't getting lit or anything. The bartenders were all very friendly and engaging. We were free to try a taste of any of their beers without hesitation. Once I tried Shakey Knees, I was hooked. Everything else was solid, though. The music was pretty bad at first (SO MUCH DAVE MATTHEWS), and I jokingly commented on it, and they changed it to something that more fit the mood. I feel like I could have added the bartenders to Facebook and we'd be friends. I really like the laid-back nature of this brewery and I'm excited to visit again during my next GR trip. read more

Oh Kona Brown how do I love thee Greyline is a terrific stand alone brewery on the west side of Grand Rapids, add to that the original brewer of my favorite beer (formerly of Perrin) is there recreating the real Kona Brown I know and love well.. No more phona brown for me now that I've found Greyline. There are so many other terrific beers as well, the Bad Rabbit stout came home with us, the rambler and Blackguard are all super. Not being a fan of IPAs or fruity brews I can't say but given the consistent quality of the dark brews I would wager they are worth a try. The staff are super friendly and fun. The only hold-backs are they don't do growler fills, but crowlers are available to take home. The food is still not quite there. They have a small prep area and while there is a lot on the menu, none of it is that memorable. The sliders and chips were ok, the soft pretzels were not very fresh tasting. i think they would do well to simplify and really focus on 7-8 good starters. The beer is the star here as it should be. PS fun fact Kona Brown is named after the brewer's dog. (which makes me love it even more.) Good dog! read more

Great place sort of off the beaten path. They seem to have a pretty straightforward brewery thing going on. Yes the beer is good. And yes the place is clean. We all enjoy and expect that from this place. It's also never been overly busy, but I've always gone before 5. Don't judge! What I also particularly enjoy about the place is the aesthetic that they go for. They're a bit refined with their merchandise offering and the artwork for the beer is something I wish I was tall enough to take pictures of. This place is definitely on the normal rotation schedule. Took a girl here on a first date tonight. We both got the cider - it was pretty good - 7/10 drink. I bought a "pint" but it came in a stemless wine glass. It looked small but I trusted the bartender. She ended up getting a size that was "half of that" at the end of the night. We poured it into the wine glass and our analysis showed it was indeed more than "half of that" so to save money get two sizes of the half pint and thank me later. read more

Greyline looks like it's located in an old storefront, maybe an old gas station. The space is clean and bright with a beautiful bar. Our server wasn't unfriendly, but a bit reserved. We wandered in with some time to kill before a WhiteCaps game. I ordered a three samples; Fade, a nitro oat stout, Shugga Milk, a bourbon stout, and Fruitopia, a fruit beer. Fade was a solid stout, no complaints. Shugga Milk was decent, although I have had better bourbon stouts, and Fruitopia was good. We live on the Eastside of the state and with the number of breweries in Michigan, I wouldn't make Greyline my first choice. That being said, their beer was very good and I would stop in again if I was nearby. We didn't try any of the food as we had eaten previously, but after seeing their food reviews I'd make a trip back to try both. Keep up the good work! read more
