Stop #31 on our Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Tour- Trail Point had some of the most genuinely dedicated staff I've ever seen. They explained the beer that gives back. This is a fantastic concept, even tho it wasn't my favorite one. Old Fashioned Hank was such a fun twist. The space is warm & welcoming. It looked like they had tons of regulars in while we were there. Before we wrapped up, they brought a few samples of the ones they thought we'd like, based on our feedback. I found that to be very thoughtful. Great Service, Good Beer

Trail point has fantastic beers! Located in Allendale it is a short drive from downtown but well worth it. It had a patio that's awesome year round with fire pits in the fall and igloos in the winter/spring, and regular seating in the summer. The patio is dog friendly. Service is great. Staff seem to enjoy having doggos visit.

I have an ongoing list in my head of smaller, off-the-beaten path breweries that I want to visit that aren't the Big Five (which is a thing I totally just made up and for me includes Founders, Perrin, Brewery Vivant, Mitten, and Harmony). Trail Point has been on that list for awhile, so when my boyfriend and I were attending a wedding nearby, we stopped in for a bit beforehand. Trail Point Brewing is located in Allendale, which as locals know is not the most happening place. It's home to Grand Valley University, but I always joke that it's in the middle of a corn field. Trail Point is worth the drive, though - and it could be made an easy stop on the way to the lakeshore. There is a nice patio area with plenty of seating, and really unique wood tables inside. The bar has a comfortable, outdoorsy feel that is different from the typical polished concrete / Edison bulb / reclaimed wood bar type brewery we have seen thousands of times. As first-timers, we ordered a flight - each of us picked 3 to try. Our favorites were the Perk Ya Later and the Toasted Brunette. I also ordered a lemonade to create my own shandy with the Carpe Squeeze'em, which was amazing. There's no kitchen at Trail Point but they have some snacks for purchase as well as a rotating schedule of food trucks throughout the week during evening hours. They have a fun selection of board and card games to play, and I noticed signs for a ton of fun, special events at the brewery including bath bomb making, trivia, book club, and live music. The guys pouring at the bar were super friendly and helpful.

If 2020 has taught me anything its the value of an outdoor seating area. Trail Point has one of the best. Their bier garden is spacious and manages to feel secluded even though its next to Lake Mi Dr. Their fire-pit and heaters do a good job of warding off the chill. Added bonus, their beer is awesome. Trail point has a wide variety of beers as well as cider. Service has always been friendly and prompt. While they don't have a kitchen per say, they allow you to bring in outside food and host a food truck most evenings.

The service here SUCKS but the beer is really good. It was a pretty busy place for what I expected, but it seems like a lot of locals/mug clubbers hang out here! My favorite beer was LOVE IPA.

Orange creamsicle hard seltzer and heizenbrau. So good!

Our hometown brewery. Can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is AWESOME!! Like so awesome! My husband loves the beer. I don't drink beer and in the last few years they really up their hard seltzer game! The food trucks are always good. You will not regret a stop here for a few drinks. Huzzah!

I loved learning about the name of the business and how it came about. I encourage you to check the place out so you can learn the same! Aside from that there are many other reasons why to check out Trail Point. -The staff was super friendly and helpful! I felt right at home as soon as I arrived. -It is a great addition to Allendale -I loved the little details in the decor that fit along with the theme I was here on a Saturday afternoon but I would be curious to experience a Friday or Saturday night to see if the ambiance changes. Even though it isn't close to where I live, I will definitely stop by again! Cheers!

We took advantage of this deal as a family of four for lunch. The business model is bring your own food, or they usually have a rotating food truck to choose from... today was savory or sweet crepes. The place feels special. Rustic, nestled in the woods with an old abandoned home and renovated barn. However, on this sunny 40* day it's wise to wear boots or shoes you don't mind trekking through the mud from the parking lot to the cider barn. The igloo's were nice, hot today with the sun. We turned off the heater and stripped down to our t-shirts. The kids had fun drinking the NA cider and I enjoyed a couple of pints of the dry cider. The picnic table inside easily sat 4 of us and had room for board games to play. The "surprise" was a homemade cherry cream puff with drizzled chocolate on top. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, a great experience for a low key Valentine's Day lunch with our little family. That cream puff though... it really was the cherry on top! Check it out if you want a different experience. It's worth the drive. Make sure to reserve the igloo online in advance to avoid disappointment. Happy Valentine's Day!

Good sandwiches as well; sloppy Joe was best of the group. Fries were great. They no longer have pizza, but they don't seem to lack for options. Everything reasonably priced. I was alone sitting at the bar trying to figure out which beer I wanted to try. The lady didn't ask what type of beers I like or offer any suggestions. I drank the cranberry seltzer, which was OK. Had a nice flavor and I felt like I was drinking Ocean Spray Cranberry juice. I will say the man who came on around 5 or 6 was super nice and attentive, but by that time I had given up and was planning my exit. 3. Employee Conversation-I overheard the employees talking about a large group who frequented the bar. I felt the employees were speaking a bit negatively about the group. I wish they had known there audience b/c I was part of that group. 4. Food-You have to order at the bar, which is cool. I can not speak to the food, b/c I didn't order any. Rather than listen to the employees talk about people who spend money in their establishment I went to Culvers down the street where they may talk about me but at least I don't know it. 5. The menu does not match what is on line. Prior to going there I looked at their on line menu and what I saw online did not match onsite. Perhaps if the bartender had been more invtiting I may have been more inclined to ask questions, but she didn't seem very interested in talking with me. Online they talk about doing a cool partnership with the funeral home to raise money for a cool veteran fund, I would have gotten that if I had felt more comfortable asking questions. 6.-Overall my experience was meh. I don't intend on returning, but in talking with other people they really seem to enjoy this place. From what I have heard the pizza is really good, I do like a good Chicago Style Pizza. I am sticking with my three stars. This is just my experience, I am all about supporting local businesses. I overheard the owner or manager telling someone they have a property in South Haven. South Haven has a piece of my heart as do local breweries. I hope I caught the place on a bad day and I hope more the SH establishement has friendlier staff.

I came here with my boyfriend after searching for a place with mead. When you first get there, it's a strip mall type place. There's plenty of parking. Walking in, there is so much light in there. The front windows make it seem so big and it's got a really comfortable vibe with enough space for everything to be open and spacious. There is a very friendly worker who is here every other Saturday. He actually remembered us from the first time we had come! He is very friendly and informative. The first time we were here, there was a fundraiser for a local animal shelter and they had kittens in the parking lot! Overall, between the selection, the staff, and the vibes, this place is a great place to get some drinks and have a great time! 10/10 would highly recommend!

While we understand they were closing in about an hour, the way we were treated felt unprofessional. We ordered one sandwich--the Hash Slingin' Slasher--and handed over our card to start a tab. From the start, we felt unwelcome. We sat in a corner and were being stared at by other customers, who appeared to be regulars & family members. The difference in treatment between them and us was striking. Most concerning was the young bartender, whose behavior was clearly unprofessional. She was rude and dismissive toward us, yet extremely friendly, upbeat, and attentive to everyone else. This made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable for first-time guests. Around 7:06 PM, an older couple arrived. The staff greeted them warmly with smiles and even hugs. They had no issues ordering food, were asked about drinks, and were made to feel welcome. Meanwhile, we were rushed, ignored, and never asked about drinks. When I went up to order a mocktail, a bottle of peach sangria to go, and a box for our sandwich, all conversation stopped. Multiple regulars & family members turned and stared at me--it wasn't subtle. My fiancée noticed it too. It didn't feel like a "closing soon" situation; it felt exclusionary. We had stopped by once before near closing time and met Nicholas, who was very kind--that's why we came back. Sadly, his kindness couldn't overcome the unprofessional behavior and uncomfortable atmosphere. The canned meads are excellent, the bottled wines are solid, and the food itself was good, but the overall experience left us feeling unwelcome.
