Loved that this brewery allows dogs inside into the taproom-when in the area,this was a big decision maker for us to visit. Beer selection is big,with fun names for different kinds - though not for IPA fans like us,so something to have in mind. Staff are super friendly and check in on everyone on regular basis. Stop #31 on our Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Tour- Trail Point had some of the most genuinely dedicated staff I've ever seen. They explained the beer that gives back. This is a fantastic concept, even tho it wasn't my favorite one. Old Fashioned Hank was such a fun twist. The space is warm & welcoming. It looked like they had tons of regulars in while we were there. Before we wrapped up, they brought a few samples of the ones they thought we'd like, based on our feedback. There is an option for outside in the quiet patio, enjoy the fire on cooler nights, inside offers a cool vibe with music that adds to atmosphere. Trail point has fantastic beers! Located in Allendale it is a short drive from downtown but well worth it. It had a patio that's awesome year round with fire pits in the fall and igloos in the winter/spring, and regular seating in the summer. The patio is dog friendly. Service is great. Stopped in last Sunday, my wife and I each had a pint and split a flight. I enjoyed my pint of classy chaises. Mellon farmer and Dr. Peelgood were also verry good. We both Ioved the coffee cream ale and Mexican lager. My wife liked her Henry Lee and vanilla von doom. We did not try the food truck, but think it's great they bring in different food trucks and live music. Service was great and plenty of outdoor seating. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I have an ongoing list in my head of smaller, off-the-beaten path breweries that I want to visit that aren't the Big Five (which is a thing I totally just made up and for me includes Founders, Perrin, Brewery Vivant, Mitten, and Harmony). Trail Point has been on that list for awhile, so when my boyfriend and I were attending a wedding nearby, we stopped in for a bit beforehand. Trail Point Brewing is located in Allendale, which as locals know is not the most happening place. It's home to Grand Valley University, but I always joke that it's in the middle of a corn field. Trail Point is worth the drive, though - and it could be made an easy stop on the way to the lakeshore. There is a nice patio area with plenty of seating, and really unique wood tables inside. The bar has a comfortable, outdoorsy feel that is different from the typical polished concrete / Edison bulb / reclaimed wood bar type brewery we have seen thousands of times. As first-timers, we ordered a flight - each of us picked 3 to try. Our favorites were the Perk Ya Later and the Toasted Brunette. I also ordered a lemonade to create my own shandy with the Carpe Squeeze'em, which was amazing. There's no kitchen at Trail Point but they have some snacks for purchase as well as a rotating schedule of food trucks throughout the week during evening hours. They have a fun selection of board and card games to play, and I noticed signs for a ton of fun, special events at the brewery including bath bomb making, trivia, book club, and live music. If 2020 has taught me anything its the value of an outdoor seating area. Trail Point has one of the best. Their bier garden is spacious and manages to feel secluded even though its next to Lake Mi Dr. Their fire-pit and heaters do a good job of warding off the chill. Added bonus, their beer is awesome. Trail point has a wide variety of beers as well as cider. Service has always been friendly and prompt. While they don't have a kitchen per say, they allow you to bring in outside food and host a food truck most evenings. read more

We came out for their Tuesday night trivia and had a great time. We brought in food to eat, but they also had Slows BBQ there in case you didn't plan accordingly. There's also lots of takeout options nearby. Personally, I like this model for breweries. They have a surprising amount of beers; each one I've tried has been good. Great atmosphere and story behind the name. The service was very friendly and prompt on a night where the place was busy. They also have a ton of games to play if you come to hang for a while. We live in GR but will definitely venture back to try out the patio this summer -- very cool spot! read more

Stopped by to taste their Kilt Klutcher, because I happened to be wearing my kilt. The beer was delicious and the bar staff was well informed on the beers. The selection was incredible for a small town brewpub. I was also impressed with the accuracy that beer suds can be read by the soothsayer bartender with the pretty eyes. She nailed my reading with uncanny accuracy. I planned to have two beers and go, but the lively and inclusive bar conversation soon had me ordering more beers. Oh, man, we love this place! Note that this is a *brewing company*, not another restaurant with a row of beer taps. Beer is their passion, and if you really think you have to eat something with it besides the selection of great snack foods they offer (try the pretzels-and-cheese), well, they won't stand in your way: they have a list of phone numbers for area places which will deliver food, from pizzas to pastas, or you can call someone else or even bring your own; all they do is beer, and they do that well. Most nights Trail Point Brewing also shares its loyal customers with one of a number of high-quality food truck operators; diners can walk out of the Trail Point indoor or outdoor seating area (don't worry, they'll keep an eye on your beer) to the food truck parked outside, place their order, and return to their table, where the food truck staff will deliver it. One night it might be handmade gourmet pizzas, the next could be souvlaki or ribs, craft burgers or crepes - the schedule is on their website, and all of the seats come with plenty of table space. Entertainment goes well with craft beer; games, live music, even a book club can be found. But most of all, it's the people. The staff can answer any question about any of their beers, including very good suggestions if you have trouble choosing from the extensive list. Customers are almost always ready to talk - you'll seldom leave Trail Point without having made at least one new friend if you want to. The owners are generally moving from table to table making sure their guests are happy. In fact, it's hard to visit this place and not feel like you're more a club member than a customer. Stopped in on a winter sat. Afternoon. Was about 5 other couples in the place some service was very good. One of the couples were eating a pizza hut pizza out of the box at their table so we knew that, other than some chips on stuff, no food offering beyond some occasion food truck action. Cool place. Had heard good things from a group of craft beer aficionados and finally got to check it out. Service was stellar - Jordan was welcoming, helpful with suggestions and on point with checking in on our party periodically. Facility was bigger than I had expected and has an inviting decor and tons of board/table games to play. We sat outside on the patio, but learned the wifi didn't stretch that far and moved inside as we had some work tasks to complete. No food other than pretzels and snacks, but menus available for delivery orders. Most importantly: The Beer All in all, quite good, certainly for a relatively new brewery. Not quite on par with Founders, Vivant, Perrin or Greyline, but better than Elk, Tripel Root, White Flame, even New Holland. I would say comparable to Pike 51, Harmony, Mitten - and certainly worthy of repeat visits. Standout brews were Judo Hop (Double IPA with honey), CIPaPotumus IPA (brought home a growler I'm enjoying right now), Dark Trail oatmeal stout, Toasted Brunette coconut brown, and Black Rattler Black IPA.
