I've been to Our Brewing Company a couple times before so I was happy to see that they were open and serving on their back patio during COVID and our day trip to Holland. My boyfriend got a couple of their darker beers combined at the suggestion of the bartender, which turned out to be the way to go! He loved it. I tried the green apple cider which was one of the better ciders I've had in awhile - tart and crisp but slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. The bartender said they make it themselves which is cool. I also tried the shandy which was an excellent version of this lager/lemonade mix. It was a little heavier on the lemonade which was perfect for me. Boyfriend tried one of the IPAs that the bartender told us was most popular - also really good! The outdoor area was nice and there were quite a few people enjoying the chilly temps while we were there. No food but it looked like you could bring in your own, making it a nice stop for COVID times as indoor dining is not permitted at this time. Definitely will keep OBC as a regular stop when we're in town. read more

Pretty neat place, definitely my kind of vibe. Only one bartender at the time, combined with several others behind my group, so I decided to double up on drinks as we waited for our nearby dinner reservations. Ordered a house Bourbon and the Arnold Palmer shandy. Bourbon hit the spot-- nothing too special but was refreshing. The Arnold Palmer shandy started enjoyable to the palate but transformed into a weird haze of cheap iced-tea and lemonade mix. It was unique to say the least. Any brewery with big enough cojones to open on the same block as New Holland gets my respect. This ended up being a bonus stop since the aforementioned brewery on the same block had a long wait. It was pretty crowded but overall felt like a laid back place; there was no host so you could sit wherever there was room. The bartender here was SUPER nice, btw! I had their green apple cider and I really enjoyed it-- sometimes I'm picky about plain apple ciders and prefer ones with another fruit but I thought this one was nice and tart (but not sour). I also think it's cool that they have California common on draft-- that's a beer style you don't see everywhere. This place is probably more like a 3.5 as the beers weren't super memorable but I'm gonna round up! Why not? I'm definitely glad we got to add yet another new place to our adventure. read more

The cozy brewery vibe and variety of beers almost reminds me of a coffee shop but for beer. There is no food here but you can bring food in. This is definitely a spot that encourages you to put the phone down and talk with strangers for the way it is set up, which I loved! Wow...this is a must stop if you are in Holland! My husband and I were in town for Memorial Day weekend and we always love checking out new-to-us breweries when traveling. We previously saw OBC on trip to New Holland, but they weren't open. First of all, they offer 50% to veterans all the time which speaks volumes. My husband is a retired Navy diver and was happy to take advantage of the offer. That, combined with great beers, led to a couple visits over the holiday weekend. This was our third stop on the multi brewery tour. Originally, we had planned to go to New Holland Brewing Company a couple doors down from here, but with COVID mitigations, they're operating at 50% capacity and reservations are practically a must. We ended up making a reservation 4 days prior and then came back on our way home. My boyfriend liked the beers here but he really enjoyed the Study Buddy Coffee Milk Stout. I had the Green Apple cider here and I liked it. The other beers he tried were good, but nothing particularly amazing. Good drinkable beer, I guess. Seating here is somewhat limited. They have large tables that multiple people can sit at. However, if you don't like the idea of sharing a table with folks you don't know or sitting on some couches near folks you don't know, you may or may not like the seating here. We couldn't get into Holland Brewing Company for a beer because they were at their limited capacity. The host recommended we try OBC, Our Brewing Company which is located a couple doors down. OBC is much smaller and does not have food but is def worth a stop. The beers were good. Flavorful, good selection to choose from and some fun names. Confession: I'd much rather drink at Our Brewing than "the other one" practically next door. Flights come in sixes, which is the best way to sample the beers offered. Ambiance and atmosphere here is a little confusing. Very hipster vibe but with 50 Cent's "it's yo birthday" song playing quite loudly. If you are like me and that song came out when you were in high school and was very popular, you know there are some lyrics that don't exactly hold up in today's climate, especially with the pride flag hanging proudly by the front door. But that didn't stop the guy behind the bar from singing every line. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the song, it was just weird to hear it in a place like this. That being said, this was one of the rare places I could get a hard cider and the Apple Bloom was great. Seating was very casual and patrons are able to bring in their own food, very reminiscent of my favorite local bar (shoutout to Elephant Bar) back home in Goshen. I stopped by Our Brewing Company both nights that I was in Holland and I really enjoyed my time there. The beer was pretty good, although the list had dried up to about 6 or 8 options. I had a pecan porter and pale ale and both were tasty. Additionally, the staff was very friendly and offered my several samples before I made my final decisions. As a visitor to Holland, I can see why this place is popular. It's interior has a retro modern look and the real killer item is their free popcorn machine that never seemed to run out of the tasty buttery stuff! Please support your local brewery! *Tip* 1 out of every 30 breweries or pubs offers free popcorn. That's a huge plus to a cheap bastard like me who enjoys a little snack food with a pint of the good stuff! Love this place in downtown Holland. Grab a pizza or sandwich at one of the local restaurants and then head over here for their fantastic craft beers. Definitely get a flight each season to try all the different offerings. You can hang out on the back patio most of the year (I love it in the cooler weather and even winter when it's walled off and heaters are going) and the inside is fun but also easy to sit down and write with some headphones in. My favorite beer anywhere, ever, is the tobacconist. You'll find it on tap for a limited time in the fall/winter. A stout (or porter?) brewed with local pipe tobacco. Amazing. read more

My husband and I took a little brewery tour along the west side of Michigan and decided to stop here since it's next to New Holland Brewing. It's a pretty laid back place. The staff was really friendly. I really enjoyed the IPA more than most of the places we had already visited. The owner has a thing for He-Man and She-Ra. There are figurines all over, included Greyskull. It's pretty funny! Definitely a good conversation starter if you're familiar with who they are. We only stayed for 1 beer, but really enjoyed our time here. We'll definitely be back! read more

This is our kind of place - relaxing, energetic atmosphere, no hurry to leave and amazing beers. This is a local and young establishment with all signs to grow into a big one. We came here couple of times in the two days we were here. We liked the variety of the beers, specially the black IPA and Shameless. The popcorn machine and the IceCream box is an amazing touch. Start off by quickly saying that the beer is above average so if that's all you're looking for tonight you won't be disappointed. With more depth, this is a pretty cool joint. Good atmosphere and good beer. Bar tenders are very well informed about the beers they serve which is a MUST HAVE for small micro brews like these. No kitchen so eat before you come. If you don't, they have a special relationship with the pizza shop down the street where they will deliver to you at the bar. I've done this before twice and it's worked out very well. There is one large TV on the far wall and then two smaller TVs up high behind the bar. Not the most ideal place to see the big game but it'll do. I've watched games here and it's been fine. Dog friendly! Some places have a couple tables out front that allow dogs, but Our Brewing has an amazing patio out back you can bring your dogs to. They allowed us to walk our pals through the indoor area to get to the back. We drank a couple beers, played some giant Jenga, ate popcorn, and they had water for the dogs back there. RING TOSS!! The ring toss game out back is fantastic! I can usually get the ring on the hook within the first 3-5 throws. UNLESS, the line has been re-installed due to heavy use. In this case, the line may be a little longer or shorter than what I was used to and I have to retrain my brain and muscle memory. This results in throws anywhere from 15-30 throws, but after that I'm back in the in the 1-5 throw range. Huge fan of the metal canopy over the back patio, so rain nor snow deter the game of ring toss. Even at night the canopy lighting and porch lights provides adequate illumination for playing ring toss. I'd say I spend a good 10-12 hours a week playing ring toss. This was a cool little bar that we stumbled upon. It is a low key place and a great place to get together to catch up with friends. You order drink at the bar and bring them to your table. They have fun names like may the Schwartz be with you and grand pappy p's. The beer was pretty good and there's free popcorn in the back. It a very relaxed environment with some TV's and nick knacks on the walls. Beware of the creepy dolls. They're at every corner, but the ninja turtles on the wall will protect you. LOL read more

My husband and I stopped by during our long weekend brewery tour around Michigan. The bartender looked my husband's ID and saw the expiration date had passed. We tried to explain to her that due to Covid, our state extended the expiration dates through July 2021. She kept interrupting and wouldn't listen to what we said. So I pulled up the passed bill on our state government website to show her that it did not expire for two more months but she got very defensive and kept interrupting that she isn't going to serve us. We have been to almost 40 breweries a crossed the country since that bill was passed and this is the first time that there was an issue, especially after pulling up the state government bill. I was very disappointed in how we were treated. read more

Would have liked to sample the brews. However, they were filming something and had a light set up just inside the bar, which blocked 2/3 of the bar and most of the tables. Nobody bothered to try and help us. So we helped ourselves to the door. Note: maybe try filming when the business isn't open. This place is stunning, do not get me wrong. I know it's a bar and I know the consumer but it was very cold. Yes you can drink and eat more but burrrr. Very loud in the dining half (the bar half i understand) but it echos a lot with all the kids. The food was delicious tho. I recommend the chili. Huge bowl, i was shocked. Comes with tortilla chips. I also got the Michigan apple salad. So fresh! Just not super filling. Tried the flight of beer they recommended. Love when companies put which is what, that way i know which to order again.
