Went back to Waverly Stone for our second visit We both ordered the cucumber salad with salmon with the honey glaze. I was worried that it would be too sweet. It was incredible! Highly recommend Can't wait a return visit and living a good hour away, that's saying something The staff was incredible, very helpful and accommodating Tru a wonderful place with a great thing going on! read more

"interesting" food, good service and pretty ambiance. The restaurant is located in the middle of downtown Holland and it was lovely to sit outside during a particularly pleasant stretch of the summer. We picked this restaurant because it seemed to have one of the nicest outdoor seating options amongst eateries downtown. We also chose it because of the several relatively unusual menu options and a decent number of veggie options (though some items, we were told, could not be customized, such as Brussels sprouts that could be fried only in tallow). I ordered the Harissa pasta. It is a vegetarian pasta with a creamy Harissa sauce, onions, tomatoes and cheese (parmesan?). It had a strange though not entirely unpleasant taste: it was simultaneously sour and savoury, with the tomatoes adding some sweetness. I could only eat about half because the flavours started to get overwhelming, and spent most of my time figuring out if I liked the dish or not (verdict: yes). My dining partner had the flounder, which they were very pleased with. Our server was enthusiastic though a little harried. Quick service overall. I am not sure if I recommend this place for its food. While the outdoor seating area is very pretty, with great atmosphere, the food itself is not spectacular. Overall, better than average experience, though it is unlikely that I will return. read more

My husband and I decided this place was giving mixed messages. On the one hand, it seemed to give the impression that it might be upscale based on their menu but they have paper napkins. Anyway, we got in closer to 6, no reservations on a Monday night and we were immediately seated. I ordered a Sauvignon blanc from France. In his usual fashion, my husband ordered a beer on draft that was out so he had to quickly find an alternate. I ordered the red snapper with za'atar spices, roasted carrots and risotto and my husband had the tortelloni and added salmon. I loved the meal. The fish was well seasoned and prepared to my liking. Flakey and not overdone. My husband, on the other hand, had said that his salmon was overcooked but did enjoy his pasta and ate almost all of his food. He left the thinner piece of salmon as it was dry due to being overcooked. Service was quick and to the point. Not very friendly but satisfactory as far as delivery was concerned. The place had some cool decor that made me think of a Mediterranean vibes. Where we were seated had some high ceiling but was concealed with some nice trellis and some fake vines around them which gave it a nicer touch than just high ceilings. Overall, we did have a good dining experience. read more

We had a party of 7, too big for an inside table to eat at a reasonable hour, We had to be seated outside to eat sooner, at least it wasn't in the 90s. Ordered hot honey Brie, pretzel beer cheese, gyro meatballs, 2 rustic tortellini, one with chicken shawarma, flounder not blackened, light seasoning and lemon wedge, quinoa bowl with salmon, chicken shawarma, goat cheese salad, Dijon cucumber salad with salmon, pesto fettuccini with gyro meat. The hot honey Brie was so yummy, big Texas toast points were good too. The pretzel sticks with the beer cheese was packed full of flavor, the cheese that is. The meatballs were big, so-so. Not much to them. Goat cheese salad was good, vinaigrette was good. The Dijon cucumber salad with salmon wasn't bad. The house salad was just okay. Quinoa bowl was plentiful, just flat on flavoring for me. Needed something, heat or anything. Got some a ramekin of spicy aioli, but it wasn't spicy at all and didn't do much for the quinoa bowl. The tortellini tomato sauce was really good, super flavorful. Shawarma meat wasn't too bad. The tortellini flour seemed a tad hard and thick. The fettuccini with gyro, flounder and Dijon cucumber salad were all good as well. Service was good. read more

While visiting Holland, my friends and I enjoyed a nice dinner. The restaurant was bustling with a full crowd of diners. The bar is the main focus toward the front. It was a little more quiet as we walked toward the back. I'm glad we sat there as it was less noisy. The room looked very nice with a lot of varnished wood. It is suitable for locals, visitors, special occasion or a simple dinner. The cuisine was fresh and tasty. With a little Mediterranean touch, everything was interesting and satisfying. Our server offered great service. It was busy but she handled everything nicely. read more

Stop in to Waverly Stone for some excellent Mediterranean fare! The food was delicious. The service was excellent and Jazz took great care of us. We sat outside on an absolutely perfect day. We ordered the Greek Salad and added the Chicken Shawarma. There was an abundance of chicken and the dish encompassed the perfect harmony of so many flavors. We also ordered the Chicken Curry Gyro... Amazing! Stop in for some cocktails and definitely try the French cider, it was delicious! read more

(Pfft, not this review accidentally sitting in my drafts for almost a year because I was waiting on my boyfriend's food pics that apparently never existed) If you want a gorgeous patio view by the cobblestone street, this would be the place! We dined al fresco for our visit and had such a lovely time. Our server was Landon and he was training a new server, so they made sure to pay good attention to us, aside from how busy it was that evening. One slip up though was that we had to grab our silverware from the bar cart because we hadn't gotten any and we hadn't seen them in a few minutes. We got this meatball dish as an appetizer and that was probably my favorite part of the meal. The sauce was just so savory and delectable and the meatballs are a good side. I also love being able to mop up the extra sauce with the toasted bread! Then for our main course we both got pasta dishes. I don't remember much about them already because they were just fine, nothing to really jump for joy about. One of our dishes had lots of peppers on it, which is always nice. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that with the weather being nice, there was a surge in business so things might not have been top notch. I'd certainly come back again if I visit Holland any time in the near future! read more

Greek gryo: pretty dang perfect. Tasted fresh, a ton of gyro meat. Fettucini Alfredo w/ chicken: chicken was great, had a unique Alfredo flavor- not bad, just not traditional. A little bit too much sauce, for a good sauce to pasta ratio. Service was excellent, super quick, good ambience. Thanks to our friend Kolton for the rec read more

This is our second time dining here. Last year was not a good experience and didn't think we would go again, but the store owner at Globe eyewear, recommended we give it another try. Entirely new menu, etc. My husband and I both had the chicken shawarma over lemon risotto with crispy capers. It was absolutely delicious! We usually bring leftovers home, but we both licked our plates clean. I had a glass of rose wine, that was flat and watery tasting, so they brought me a different rose, but it was only incrementally better. There are some good roses out there that they could look into. The bartender sat us down; he was very friendly. Our server was efficient, but not overly friendly; maybe she was overwhelmed with customers. We were too full for dessert, but we will definitely be back and have already recommended it to several of my friends. read more

This was the absolute best restaurant we ate at in Holland, Michigan. We went to a few other restaurants and we were mostly disappointed with what was offered in the town, but our last night on a whim we decided to try Waverly Stone and oh my goodness it was so good. We've already told everyone we know about how wonderful this place was. The service was excellent, and the food quality was perfect. The portions were great and perfect for sharing. read more

I visited with a four-person group on a Thursday evening. My reservation via Yelp worked flawlessly, and the host was waiting to seat us. Server Landon, too, was ready when we were, knowledgeable and efficient. The space, which I dimly remember as the 8th Street Grille, is pleasant on the eye, not too loud, and comfortable. The food, currently with a "Mediterranean" theme, was excellent (see my photos). Therese H.'s gluten-free pasta request was handled flawlessly. My seared swordfish with root veggies and risotto not only was fresh and flavorful, but was presented well, with a little verticality and a seared lemon, good-looking and tasty comfort food for fall. Even with a bottle of wine, the pricing felt reasonable for a weeknight. Thank you, WS, for a fine experience. read more

They need to upgrade their beef in the cheeseburger. It's poor quality and you can taste it. The talo fries are good.

The menu has changed since our last visit here. It is now Mediterranean, and also has many seafood options, plus smashed burgers. We had made a reservation but the dining room was not full at all. It seemed very quiet and slow for a Friday night. We started by ordering an appetizer, stuffed artichokes. The two artichokes were good but were very small, not what we were expecting for 14.50. There were three of us, and after we had shared the two artichokes between us, our server had mentioned that we could have ordered an additional artichoke for $3.50. Had we known that when we ordered we definitely would have. It took quite a while for our appetizer to be served, so we ended up not ordering dinner but only a couple of drinks before leaving. Nice ambiance and comfortable seating. read more

Wonderful food and great ambience!! Staff was super friendly and their menu had so many great selections it was hard to pick! I had the pesto fettuccini with chicken and my husband got the braised short rib. The fettuccini was probably one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had and the goat cheese with it completed the flavor. We also ordered Brussel sprouts and a baguette on the side. Our only disappointment was the potatoes and carrots were not cooked all the way. Great selection of draft beer. Overall amazing restaurant!! read more

The best service, great food! Elijah was our server! Great guy! Gorgeous outdoor table! What a lovely lunch!

This restaurant had beautiful outdoor seating. The food was good, the chicken Shawarma was a little dry. Short rib was very tender and juicy. The risotto that came with the chicken Shawarma was very creamy and flavorful. Service was fine, I would come again. read more

Visited with a group of 10 for a birthday on a Saturday evening. There was a 2 hour wait, but it was 100% worth it, and also our fault for not making reservations. It was a beautiful evening so we wandered around and slightly spoiled our appetites at Whits, first. Promptly at the time they said, we were seated and let me just say, the remodel is gorgeous! It's such a lovely vibe. Water glasses are placed on the table and the server brings carafes of water. I also ordered an old fashioned which was lovely. We opted to skip appetizers and just went straight for mains. There were so many good options it made it difficult tk choose. My friend is gluten intolerant and loves how many options they have! My fettuccine alfredo was perfection. Delicious! And, because we didn't all order appetizers, I also wanted to try the tuscan beer cheese and pretzels. Both were so good, but I managed to share some with which the table. Everyone's portion sizes were plentiful and everyone left happy. Some of our party also indulged in dessert. The creme brulee was lovely and large enough that we could have shared. The crack on the top was lovely. 10/10 great experience and shoutout to Alexis who took wonderful care of our table and Chris who is also fantastic read more

We were in town visiting for a night and wanted somewhere within walking distance to our hotel. We wanted somewhere that took reservations but wasn't necessarily a super upscale place and Waverly Stone was the perfect fit! We arrived a little early for our reservation, but they happily seated us early! The inside was very spacious and clean with the table appropriately spaced out (I hate when places squeeze tables in, making it a maze to walk around). Our service was rather slow, but we weren't in any hurry. We both ordered drinks, I really enjoyed the Pom Parade and Blueberry Fitzgerald. For food my husband loved the Kofta burger with fries! We Weill definitely return to Waverly stone the next time we're in Holland! read more

The food and drinks were on point, we got the Brussels sprouts, my husband got the double cheeseburger and I got red snapper on their cucumber salad. We went on July 4th so they were out of a few items but that didn't matter, everything was high quality and delicious. My husband even said he wished he took the bartenders recommendation initially on his drink since it was better than his backup choice. Very dog friendly patio as we went with our two corgis, they brought a metal bowl with water which was perfect. This is actually our second time here and we were not disappointed. The server was very friendly and had great recommendations, we hope to come back soon! read more

The menu is completely new from my original review four years ago, which isn't surprising. While it has a lot of the basics and some seafood and pasta options, there is a heavy contingent of Mediterranean food, which is awesome because Holland doesn't have many options like that, if any. The space is still fairly cramped when it's the busy season, but that's what you're getting at most places. They do wine tastings and pairings about once a month, and I feel like they should go a little more in on the wine aspect. Breweries and beer places kind of dominate downtown and I think maybe focusing on wine a little more could be nice. But hey, that's just me. After sitting in a booth with a table for six, it took me a little too long to find the wine menu. read more

Great tasting food and service! On a busy weekend, this location had reasonable waiting periods.

My family and I came here for a weekend lunch. We came in a bit after their opening at 11am on a Saturday, and sat at a booth which is raised from the floor. The inside is very nicely decorated with a bar area to the right in the front. The food portions were large, and it was nice to have a Mediterranean inspired menu in downtown Holland where there are more pub or American food style places. Service was excellent. Their menu indicates a when certain dishes may take a bit longer to make which we appreciated. This is a more formal place for lunch, prices are higher but the food was good with large portions. Lunch for 3 people who got entrees was about $80 total not including tip. read more

Service was good, food took an appropriate amount of time. When I asked if the restaurant had falafel, the waiter said that he had never heard of it, which I thought was odd at a Mediterranean restaurant. Told us 10 minute wait, took my number and messaged me that I'm in the queue. 60 minutes later after we watch several tables empty then finally message saying they took me off the list. Seriously I was still standing outside. Not even worth my time to go back in and ask why, there were several other couples outside waiting too and others walking in off the street getting tables with no wait. Definitely don't recommend no matter how good the food is supposed to be, I'm sure it's not good enough to overcome the way they treat their guests in the waitlist read more
