Very nice inside, way bigger than I expected. There is outdoor seating. There is also wooden block Jenga! The Stoner Fries were delightful. They do not carry any liquor, just the beers they brew. They have a back patio walk up bar where you can order a limited amount of items through the back. Otherwise you walk inside. Pretty full/busy inside for a Friday 2-4pm. There were many seats outside available though. It was cloudy with tiny bugs flying around us. Little fans operating at the table would be cool during the summer. Don't miss a visit to Big Lake Brewing. A gem of a brewery. Wish the weather was warmer because they have a nice outside patio. We stopped in for the end of happy hour. Great happy hour food and nice selection of beer. The junior cheeseburger was delicious and a regular size burger. Our server, Maddie was the BEST!! We went here for a family gathering and Sat outdoors. They're have large booths around a fire pit that seated 9 adults and 3 kids very comfortably. It's a self service place where you walk to the counter to place your order but it comes out to be served to you. We ordered some beers but food was the standout to me. We ordered pretzels and stoner fries as the appetizer and really liked it. I ordered the bruschetta salmon and a BYO pasta (pesto cream is so so so good!!) to share. The portion sizes are huge and very filling. For dessert we like the poffert bites that came with Nutella to dip. The beerimisu was a pass for everyone, it really isn't much different from an average cake. Overall highly recommend for the food and vibes. I have been here in the winter and in the summer. Inside in the winter can be a bit noisy, but the dog-friendly patio in the summer is private and quiet. The inside has table service and on the patio you order at a counter where you get your drinks. They will bring your food to the table. We had the bitterballen and the fish dip and they were both very tasty. The chicken and waffles were good, but not great. read more

Grabbed a quick drink here right before a wedding in town. My husband and I sat at the bar hoping to get served quickly. We knew we had a short amount of time so knew what we wanted right away. The bar staff wasn't very attentive, and it took them 8 minutes to ask us what we wanted, even though they weren't talking to any other customers or getting drinks. They (3 total) were hanging out by the computer chatting. That part was a bit frustrating, but they were friendly to us and the IPAs we ordered in our flight were all really good. read more

Definitely recommended, even if you don't like or order beer! When we got there, we realized pretty quickly that it was poppin' (technical term). We gave them a cell number and waited for a text that they had a table ready. They quoted us 10-15 minutes, and we walked around the retail area, very impressed by the variety of merch and beer (as well as non-alcoholic/regular seltzer!). It got a bit frustrating, because we wound up waiting about 10 more minutes after that. Newer arrivals were seated before us, though that could've been because they had larger tables available sooner. Though the kitchen was backed up, and it's something they probably could've foreseen, our server was on top of it. She was so nice and welcoming. At one point, she forgot my seltzer, which she owned up to, and I reassured her it was no big deal. She came right back with it anyway! She also volunteered that she could give us each two tastes of beer, which was super nice. My husband got the cotton candy IPA and liked it, whereas I tried the Mexican lager and liked its Corona-esque flavor. I got smoked chicken, which was good, and not too dry, while my husband got the "stoner fries." He enjoyed them. Also, he ordered the pretzel sticks, and I tried them. They were huge, extremely soft/pillowy, and overall a terrific choice. The mustard seemed homemade and was unique, with the full "grains" present. Stopped here on a Sunday and was rather unimpressed with my experience. The poor waitress was being run ragged by all the people who were in there. Terribly understaffed. As for the food...the offerings on Sunday all included eggs. They would have made a burger and one other thing off the menu, but I was disappointed I didn't get an option to choose anything else off the regular menu as I would have enjoyed that better than what I got. What I had: BREAKFAST WRAP | 12 Scrambled Egg, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Tots. Wrap only - Choice of Side additional cost This was generally cold. The wrap itself was cold, the cheese was cold, and the bacon bits were cold. The eggs weren't warm enough to melt the cheese or warm anything else up. I was glad I got the tater tots on the side as they were perfectly hot and crunchy. I had some of the house made root beer, which I enjoyed. My BF had the breakfast skillet: BREAKFAST SKILLET | 12 Roasted Potato, Onion, Green Pepper, Red Pepper, Brussels, Mushroom. Add choice of 2 eggs $2 He said the Brussels sprouts were rather odd in there, but that didn't detract from his enjoyment of this dish. He also loved the Tulip Time beer. The Fancy beer was ok, but he said he wouldn't get it again. It was a very lovely day and I would have loved to sit outside, but they weren't serving food there. I loved the interior of the place. We got lucky with an availability for a reservation for the two of us within the next half hour at 6 PM on a Saturday. We get there and our seated at a fabulous table. We are in the middle of the room and we have use of all the TV screens and just everywhere. Ayanna was our servant and she was fantastic. Eight years working in there so she knew her stuff she whipped out the recommendation for my flight based on what I liked and it was on point. I had the happy citrus, tropicale, silly gose, cotton candy, blue water, and peach haze. There honestly wasn't one that I did not like. My hubby and I split the brussels sprouts and he got the New York strip and roasted potatoes and I got the Cavatappi Cajun pasta with smoked chicken. Both were excellent, the steak was juicy and the pasta had great flavor with the right amount of spicyness. I went home with a four pack of the Sparty beer that had passionfruit and a pint glass to add to my collection. The menu was reasonably priced. We are a bit embarrassed it took us so long to try this place out. I would absolutely recommend and I'm sure we will be back there again. read more

Big Lake Brewing is such an underrated restaurant in Holland! Since it's not on 8th street, it's generally a calmer crowd and it's easy to be seated right away. During the summer, their patio with live music is amazing! You seat yourself and can start a tab at their outdoor bar -- it's perfect! While on vacation in Holland, we went for happy hour twice in two days! First day was perfect patio weather to be outside in the sun with our dog, love that they are pet friendly! We went with recommendation of bread sticks for happy hour special. Much better than anticipated, they are covered in Asiago cheese and were served with marina sauce. Couldn't pass up a half price tulip time beer (only $2.50 during happy hour). Second visit weather was much cooler, but decided to try the patio again, as that beer was so good! Happily surprised to find roaring fire pits offering comfortable warmth outside! Food this time was a cheeseburger and chips, just ok. However, I was talked into trying a agave margarita by a very friendly bartender, not a happy hour drink, but was great! Give this place a try, especially if you have a dog and are looking for a pet friendly, people friendly, price friendly place to go in Holland. read more

A family friendly restaurant. They have a full menu, not just bar food. When we entered we were offered inside or outside dining. We opted for inside as it was breezy outside and there were no open tables in the sun. It was a bit chilly inside so I kept my jacket on. Service was quick on the drinks. We had to ask for the order of chips we put I. So that took a bit of the wait. Soon as we asked she brought them to the table, it was just waiting for it to be brought to the table. We ordered the crazier salad small. It was big enough for a side salad for two. I also ordered the beef stroganoff. It was only ok. It was too dry, not enough gravy for my liking. The meat was tender and delicious. They kind of skimped on the mushrooms. I wouldn't order it again. According to my husband the beer was good. He wished he had ordered a flight as there were so many good choices. I recommend you come here and dress warm and plan on staying awhile to enjoy the brewery ambiance. read more

We had our team holiday party at Big Lake Brewing last night, and it was great. We had about 15 people for a happy hour, and food, drinks, ambience and service were all a big thumbs up. Although there's no separate party room, we had the back area of the restaurant to ourselves, with a fireplace and also a half wall for visual privacy. I worked with the event person, and everything was set up as we requested when we arrived. They also did drink tickets, which I appreciated, since we wanted to limit everyone to two drinks. We really enjoyed our visit here today. This is a great space with large, airy, industrial ceilings, yet it's very comfortable. I had a flight of their beer, which consisted of six 4 ounce pours. The beer was outstanding, and I really enjoyed every one of the styles I chose. For lunch, I had the Cubano sandwich. Overall, I would give the sandwich an average to below average flavor. Unfortunately, the pork was rather dry. And as much as I love, brioche buns, I still would have preferred the Cuban sandwich to be served in a traditional manner with pressed bread. I was thrilled to see bitterballen on the menu & the hubs went for his favorite beer companion, the pretzels, which was a surprisingly large 4 stick set. It was with 2 sauces, my bitterballen making the 3rd, 2 of which were different mustards & 1 was cheese based. The beer selection was varied, prices were reasonable & we both thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. My brother and I stopped in here for a lunch time visit. When we walked in we were greeted by a pleasant hostess and walked to our table. As we were walking to the table.. we noticed the updated restaurant and fixtures giving it a fun, modern vibe. We sat down and ordered some drinks and appetizers. The fries that came out were amazing! Brussels Sprouts we're very good as well. Then after not too long of a wait our food came out. I ordered the Juicy Lucy and have to give it its proper praise. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was flavorful, cooked perfectly and was perfectly seasoned. I ordered it with the LTOP (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) addition which I would recommend. Both my sides of fried and asparagus were amazing. The asparagus was one of the best restaurant asparagus I've ever had. My brother ordered the chicken tacos and a pizza and devoured both. He loved the tacos and the pizza was flavorful with a great crust. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting good upscale bar food. We liked it so much we came back the next day with our friends and had an equally amazing experience. If I could give this place a 6/5 I would. We will definitely be back! read more

Five stars if you are looking for a no-frills, basic brewery experience! The staff was courteous, calmly and professionally navigating a busty festival crowd. Ambiance is that of your expected brewery experience- Open space, with the acoustics to carry a steady restaurant-goer's chatter. I had the Hangar Steak, with Beer Mac and Cheese and Brussels Sprouts as sides. The steak had a spot on temperature and cook. The natural flavor was maintained, but nothing in the way of impressive seasoning, if any. The steak was chewy, and the joy of the great cook was absolutely overshadowed by this. The Brussels Sprouts had a solid flavor profile, including a slight char. The included bacon bit's richness were not highlighted by this. A sweet balsamic would have served the dish better. The Beer Mac had a soft cooked pasta that was delightful in mouth feel. The bacon goes well with this dish, and compliments the beer cheese sauce. The beer flavor is not lost in this sauce, it's done very well! The sauce is a light and thin cheese sauce. This side has to be a staple for this restaurant. I enjoyed the string lights, chatter that flowed throughout, and the solid good brewery vibes. Staff was sweet as sugar. I'd eat here with friends again. read more

We have been there a few times now and the food is good, their burgers all come on pretzel buns which are a nice texture. The bacon and blue burger could have used a little more blue cheese, but I would order it again. The big lake burger was just right, a perfect burger. We did not really enjoy the olive burger, we are used to olive burgers having an olive sauce and this one just has sliced green olives, not in a mayo base, but that is just our preference. The dutch stamppot is so good, again, I would order again. The wait staff are really accommodating, especially Remington, he was so courteous trying to get a mixed drink request from one person in our party. The seating inside is very spacious, it's definitely bigger inside than expected. The outdoor seating is first come and your order your food and drinks at the window, they drinks they provide at the window but the food is brought to the table by a server. The outdoor area is dog friendly, they even have a menu that you can order a meal for your dog off from! We don't really drink beer, so cannot speak to that, but they did have a canned sparkling water drink the profits of which help a local children's charity. read more

I frequent breweries and when visiting Holland was excited to try some of the MI beers. Big Lake Brewing had a great selection of many styles of beers and all were good! I especially liked their hazy IPAs! They offered tastings, so was able to sample most of the beers on their menu. It was fun to select several and try them out with friends! We even got some beer to go we enjoyed it so much! The brewery is very nice with a large space wit plenty of seating! The menu was easy to read with detailed descriptions of each of the beers. I love when breweries include detailed descriptions of their beers! Staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the beer and menu! They offered pub fare food and it was tasty! I had the loaded tots and they were delicious! The pork on the tots was the perfect combo of smoked, tender and had much flavor! It paired perfectly with the beer tastings! Attended an event at Big Lake brewing. They have plenty of tvs and plenty of seating. The beer options were great lots of choices and different styles. I ordered the wings for dinner and they were good. Everyone was having a good time and overall a great place to stop by for dinner or lunch or a late night cocktail. My husband and I sat at the bar and sampled a few beers. We really enjoyed several of the beers Big Lake Brewing had on tap when we visited in mid-August. I am all about a good pumkin beer this time of year, so I had the Pumpkin Porter. Husband got the Imperial Chocolate PB Stout. They were both very good and we bought some Pumkin Porter in cans to take back home with us. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere to relax and unwind. It gave none of those. It was good but lack luster. The pretzel was good but they only gave us a half full small sauce cup of cheese for a giant pretzel.
