I came here with my friends for an early dinner and omg we were so impressed! We actually walked in the first time at 3pm and they still had their lunch menu so we left and came back an hour later for the dinner menu to start. They even saved our table for us!! Everything was so good! Get the short rib and the truffle fries. I got the lemon chicken rice and it was ok, something was oddly sweet about it. Honestly I would have been content with just truffle fries and a Caesar salad (I didn't try that one tho) but go here if you're in holland!! We also got dessert and I would skip the crème brule. I went here for a business dinner on a Tuesday. It was surprisingly crowded but with the weather turning nice and the tulip festival upcoming they didn't have a table for us inside. The compromise was to seat us outside for drinks and apps and then after an hour or so space opened up inside for us. We went through a few bottles of cab and got brussel sprouts crab rangoons and bruschetta for apps. All were nice. My colleagues all got the short rib which looked decadent and was enjoyed by all. I zagged and did chicken katsu. It was ok. Too salty for me after a few bites. Ambiance was really nice this is a spot with a downtown location central to all. Wow that burger was impeccable. I caught myself bringing it up multiple times throughout the rest of the day. I would recommend people travel to holland for that burger alone! The atmosphere was definitely more on the casual side which was not a reflection of how high scale the food presented and tasted- it was busy, seating by the front doors, gossipy staff- not my preference. I'm glad I ate here but they can easily improve the private dining area if they changed the decor and paint. It felt a little bit like we were in a forgotten area and I don't think I would like this area for private dining. They just need to make it feel more open and hip. For dinner I had the "really good lemon chicken." I thought lemon chicken would be a lighter dish but I was very wrong. This dish seemed unnecessarily heavy and oily. I'd give my regular experience a 4/5, and my other experience (see below) maybe 2.5/5, so I'm averaging it at 3 stars Finally got to try this place out at the end of July. We are having our rehearsal lunch here in Sept. for our wedding and I wanted to try the food out beforehand. We started with the goat cheese and wild mushroom queso, which was excellent! Albeit a bit pricey ($18). We split the regular grilled cheese with tomato soup and the chicken club, because we are offering both at our lunch. My only complaint was that water and soda refills were a bit scarce. ----------- Rehearsal lunch, 9/14/24: we had a lot of issues, all of which I've already communicated to the restaurant. The big problem was that they assigned ONE waiter for our group of 30. Smaller issues were that we only had 26 chairs, so they had to add some; our group wasn't supposed to be ordering alcohol, and the waiter started off asking what cocktails/other drinks people would like; and they ran out of food items that were supposed to be on our menu, like the creme brulee. All the food, however, was delicious, which was the saving grace. But when you arrive at 2pm and you don't get salads (3-course menu) until 345pm ... That's not great. Billing was also incorrect. I had budgeted a certain amount based on my conversation with my contact; it was about $500 over that; and by the time we got the restaurant to correct it, it was about $200 over that. The room itself, in the back, is very nice - just get everything in writing. For example, we were told it was $75 to rent the room, which is very reasonable; on the bill it said $175, so we had them correct it. The best part... My husband talked to the waiter and he wasn't even supposed to work that day. So I'm not sure who would've been working our room, otherwise. Eventually more servers straggled in, to help serve our group, but the lunch ended up being 3.5 hours, which is nuts. read more

I would not order take out from Seventy-Six. This is the third time we have had an issue out of about maybe three different times of take out meals. Last night, a salad was never recorded so we were short. We were given the wrong fish entree. It was a salmon dish withOUT pork for a pork abstaining patron. We received the salmon with pork. So that patron needed to find another meal at home. On top of which, this dish was at the bottom of the bag and collapsed in on due to poor packaging, When called back today by Seventy-Six, we were told we were the ONLY ONES that had issues with take out. Either that is a lie, or no one bothers to call and try to get the issue corrected because no one wants to go back to the restaurant when everyone else is eating their meals. Oh, and we heard the owner took this order. He could not have cared less, with his lackadaisical attitude he messed up, and did not care to fix it. Previous problems (2 previous orders), ordering a salad with salmon added (never received the salmon - that was suppose to be my meal). A refund in the way of a gift card was issued. The other issue - I ordered brisket entree and received a sandwich brisket and soup. Neither of which were gluten free so I had to figure out a different meal for myself. I believe a gift card was issued then as well. Food may be fine when it is correct and people can eat based on dietary restrictions, but three screw ups and the refusal to correct a $33.00 before tax mistake means we have given up on the 1983 suite of eateries. P.S. I also do not like how the owner is against a living wage for employees. Something to think about. read more

Only good things to say about Seventy Six! Living in Chicago and having a ton of fine dining restaurants, Seventy Six brings Chicago to Holland (in my opinion). The best fine dining experience and food that I have had in Holland hands down. Ambiance is great for a date night or some cocktails. It is moderately noisy but a good vibe. They even have a private back room you can reserve for events. Food: Had the brown sugar salmon - had a bit of a kick to it. The whitefish was amazing, highly recommend if you are a fish lover. While we were in Holland recently, we decided to check out a new restaurant, since we don't make it down there often. Based upon my diligent Yelp research, it looked like Seventy Six was the place to go! (Yelp never leads me astray ) We didn't have a reservation, but got seated right away at the bar. (It was a Saturday night, so you know. Probably make a reservation.) For drinks, Derek got an old fashioned (he's in his whiskey era) and I got an espresso martini (I'm in my espresso martini era). The drinks were great, and I bet this is ~the spot~ to stop and grab a cocktail in Holland. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crab Rangoon. 10/10 would recommend. This was really the star of the show I had a grilled cheese and tomato soup, because I would probably order off the kids menu for the rest of my life if I could I was actually super excited to see the grilled cheese was made with American cheese. This is how I always had them growing up (shout out to Kraft singles) and usually restaurants try to fancy them up by using different cheeses, but this one was classic. The tomato soup was the perfect creamy complement. Derek had the Lake Michigan Walleye sandwich. This wasn't as amazing, but we're not huge fish people. This was a place I was excited to try based on the high reviews! It's got a nice, modern atmosphere with plenty of natural light and was not too cramped. Breakdown of the food we tried: - Tomahawk pork chop: it was medium well as opposed to medium like I ordered. The meat was kind of tough and chewy with a lot of fat/gristle in it. The bacon hash was delicious: each shred of potato was crispy and delicious. This was probably my favorite thing from this restaurant! The sauce for pork chop was good at first, but quickly became overwhelming after the first couple bites - it was heavy on the cloves. - Crab-crusted whitefish: the crab was a great complement, the crispy onions provided a good texture contrast, and the horseradish cream sauce was not too strong like I thought it would be. It would have been nice if it came with veggie or starch...this felt like an incomplete entree (it wasn't a very big portion, either). - Madeira chicken: the Madeira flavor was overly strong, but the chicken was cooked well (not dry). - Short rib: the portion was kind of small, but it was melt-in-your-mouth tender and had good flavor Overall, I'd say this place is decent, not great. read more

We came here after blueberry picking with friends. It was a beautiful day and they have high top tables right in their large folding open windows. It's a great ambiance inside with a modern and causal upscale feel. It was a busy Saturday lunch rush and we were fortunate to snag a high top table for our party of 8 plus a high top high chair! Everyone ordered different things ranging from the sandwiches to the house special and in general, everyone was happy with their meals. Fries were plentiful. My wife and I try to hit up a more pricier restaurant when we are finally able to ditch the kids. Seventy Six made the list of places to visit while we were in Holland. It was pretty good! I'll admit, I always struggle with how they come up with pricing for various items on the menu. Is it time? Ingredients? How many pieces of equipment used for making the dish? Who knows. But we are okay dropping $100+ on meal for two every so often. We started off with some egg rolls. They were nice and crispy, had a nice gingery flavor and good veggies on the side. We just about licked the plate. My wife ordered the pork gouda grilled cheese with tomato soup. That was so good. I finished it off by wiping up the last bit of soup in the bowl with the last bite of sandwhich. I had the Walleye with angel hair, lemon, pine nuts and capers. So much fish! It was nice and creamy. A very filling meal. Finished with the bread pudding and butterscotch ice cream. It was really good. Not too rich and much fluffier than I anticipated. Service was great! The only down side was where we sat. Which is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. It's a little tight on the taller table by the bar. For the beginning half of the meal there were two people right behind me sitting at the bar (they were fine). The problem was that the path between us was to the bathroom, cash register and other customers in the back area. Lots of traffic there. Couldn't really lean back or relax. I'll admit, this was a little bit of our fault. I guess we could've asked to move to another spot. Just avoid the long taller table and you should be fine. Made a reservation for 6 and the place was nearly empty. Once we were sat it took about 5-7 minutes before our server came over. I ordered the wedge salad which I've had before and it was delicious. I didn't see the option to add protein but I asked about it and she told me the options. I added salmon. When my salad arrived, my boyfriend joked as and asked if there was more salmon on the back side of the wedge. Once I looked at the small piece of salmon I got, I actually laughed out loud. It was MAYBE 2 ounces. It really wasn't the portion that was the problem honestly. It was the perfect amount for me. The problem was that it was $13. Making my salad $24. But the timing, how much we had spent, and that we had only been there a little over an hour, where we have had drinks, appetizers, main courses, dessert and after dinner drinks, was very off-putting. The server told me it was a little spicy, but I like a little spice in my food. When I tell you my mouth was on fire, that's an understatement. The server even saw my face and brought me milk. There was a little bit of a wait once we got to our table. Not a huge issues since they seemed understaffed, but we were told there was another reservation after us and needed to be gone from our table by a certain time. We started off with a round of drinks. We quickly saw that our waiter was the bartender, serve, and whatever people needed help with. Felt a little bad on how chaotic it was. The fries were way overcooked, the bun was savagely burnt and the perch was so over fried it was dry which I have honestly never seen ever. Disappointed! Table service was slow. After ordering they returned after quite sometime and told us they were out of the white wine and out of the shrimp over angel hair pasta meal. Overall Seventy Six was a decent dining experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated, although it can be a bit loud. They had a pretty good cocktail and beer list. Unfortunately, we ordered a bottle of wine off the menu which they didn't have. The second bottle we ordered they didn't have. But they did have our third choice. It would be nice if they could update the menu to reflect what they actually have. The burrata & bruschetta app was excellent, as was the wedge salad both of which we shared. Sadly my pork chop, which I ordered medium to medium rare, was well done and dried out. I barely ate a third of it. At 37 dollars the kitchen really should cook it correctly. Our server, who was excellent, did the right thing and removed it from the bill. OTOH the Walleye on a bed of angel hair pasta was excellent. Desserts were good, as was the espresso. Service was good. Food was good (mostly). We'll be back again, and hopefully they'll get some of the details right next time. read more

Farm to table American fare where you can taste love and freshness in every bite. Ordered the goat cheese/mushroom appetizer: cheese was hot, creamy, and not over-powering though sparse on mushroom. It was paired with buttery ciabatta bread which was perfect. The "hot" chicken sandwich was breaded and coated in a sweet glaze (not hot at all) and topped with tasty dressed onions. I have to say the ambiance was off for me because they try to market themselves as upscale food and there was a TV on the wall which I always feel cheepens the place. But that could just be a me thing. Our server was super friendly and helped me pick out pescatarian friendly food and was open with the tomato soup which not all waiters do. The walleye was really good and the pasta there was amazing, and I loved the desserts as well with the bed pudding being absolutely amazing. Why it's not five stars for me is the ambiance and the fact that the place was so pricy. Seventy Six is one of Holland's greatest dining ventures. Located in the heart of downtown, enjoy lunch, dinner or cocktails while shopping the quaint and "hidden gem" filled stores. I stopped in recently with my mom and best friend, and nothing about our experience was anything but excellent. The Classic 76 (proprietary blend of awesomeness) is a pineapple/tequila concoction. I found it refreshing and tasty- but amped it up a bit by adding a shot of tequila. They have pear vodka here, which I was highly excited about! Pear is an underrated flavor and makes for the best vodka sodas! Felicia, our upbeat bartender was friendly, efficient and a definite dog lover (always an indicator of the best character). They have a great aesthetic here, it's modern but classy with a nice outdoor seating area and medium sized bar. I can't wait to return to 76 to try some of their menu items. "Farm to table with an American flair" is how I would describe the menu. And any place with 2 different burrata options is a win in my book. Keep up the great work 76! read more

This place had an eclectic mix of menu items that pulled inspiration from all over the world. A little something for everyone for sure. The salmon masala was delicious (and spicy), the burrata arugula pesto take on a caprese was amazing, and the crab Rangoon tasted like actual crab (which for $15 for 5 pieces it better be something special). Server was friendly and took good care of us. The burrata salad came out late and she was very apologetic but it was so tasty we weren't mad. This place is a sister restaurant to a few other stunning options on this strip which is great but also gave things a corporate vibe. The chairs were heavy and loud and the bathroom was nothing special but they do have a huge private dining space that would be perfect for a special occasion. All in all a good experience but lacking the true individualism to make this out of this world. Would still recommend if you are trying to feel bougie and have a nice meal in Holland though! read more
