I literally had one beer at the Beechwood Grill when a friend knocked over her wine glass, and it's spilled all over my lap. When I asked for another beer, the bartender started chatting up another customer. Another friend of mine asked the bartender to get me a beer. It was the second request. he said " you have beer in your glass" I said I had 1 ounce of beer left. He then said "we like people to be able to walk out of here. " I was so pissed. Our Club ordered a buffet of food to pick and feed about 40 people. We had pulled BBQ pork, fried and battered chicken, macaroni and cheese, a walnut and raisin salad . All the food was excellent. We were sat outside on the porch, at the shorter height table. We asked for a height-chair for my 1 year old daughter and the older man inside specifically said "we don't allow height-chairs outside" which was very inconvenient. The chairs we had to sit my daughter in were very unsafe. The back had a huge opening she could've fallen through. Service was really slow and the food wasn't great. Came with a large party of relatives that had gathered for the tulip festival. They found us a convenient table for 9, and took good care of us throughout the night. My wife and I ordered the Santa Fe salads--kind of a standby for me, and this one was one of the best I had. The lettuce and other veggies were crisp, the chicken was very savory, the salsa ranch had a very nice level of heat. Our only complaint was that it was overloaded with homemade tortilla chips--made slicing the chicken kind of tricky, and I knocked a few onto the table. 3 or 4 would have been fine with me. Others in our party ordered steak or the breaded perch and were all happy with their meals. I sample a bit of the perch and agreed it was very good. We lingered a long time after we finished eating and they didn't try to rush us out. Would be a top choice when we get back to Holland. read more

Went for AYCE shrimp special for the 2nd time tonight. They were moderately busy when we arrived and they said 30 minute wait but we got a table in about 10. Our server, Christian J was attentive and friendly. Steamed shrimp were good (small but not terribly small) and maybe slightly overcooked but still good. We went after a late night meeting and arrived around 8pm. Personally, I like the updated design of the space and the layout much more than previously. It wasn't super busy, and we were seated immediately. Service was efficient, and the food came out piping hot. I love the perch tacos and the mushrooms. There is something truly special about that aioli and batter. We've tried to recreate these at home and always fall short. I've literally had dreams about these perch tacos. We had a stellar experience at Beechwood Grill. From our drinks, starter, and entrees everything was so delicious. Our drinks came out quick and tasted so good. The potato starter also came out quick, hot, and delicious. Seriously so good! My quesadilla was very good. My husband loved the chicken. He also noted the Cole slow was really good. The sweet potato fries and the fluffernutter dip was sooooo good. Our server was friendly. She checked on us often. Always clearing plates out of our way or asking about refills. Overall enjoyed our dining experience. Only three stars The good: 1) Atmosphere was nice. You could hold a conversation without shouting. 2) Appetizers and one order were delicious. The bad: 1) Burger was overcooked and dry. (Asked for rare and it was well.) Server didn't come back to the table to check that food was ok. 2) Never got a water refill. Atmosphere is good, wait staff is good. Ordered nachos and they come with a very flavor filled sauce on top. Be aware the chips were flour based not corn based for those with gluten issues. My daughter ordered a wrap and got a chicken sandwich. Which she chose to eat anyway, she stated it was delicious. It came with sweet potato fries and a "flutter butter" dip. DO NOT ORDER TAKE-OUT, and if for some reason you do decide to, only tip if you like throwing away money. They consistently miss items in my simple one entree (which comes with 2-sides). The staff isn't that friendly and the food is average. They don't even offer mashed potatoes as a side. You can order a steak before 4 PM, but you can't have a baked potato with it unless it's after 4 PM. The best thing about it is the decor. read more

He was extremely friendly and accommodating over the phone, even going the extra mile to label each food items based on who ordered it. We visited Beechwood Grill for the first time a couple of nights ago. My dad heard they had great burgers. Due to road construction our drive from Fennville took a bit longer than expected but, we are happy we went! Once we arrived we were told a 30 minute wait for first available. My mom and I went to the bar; she had a glass of wine and I had a 22oz Oberon. They have an impressive local tap selection. We ended up being seated within 15 minutes and the service was impeccable. My dad and son had sodas and our server was on top of the refills! Three of us had the Perch Tacos and fries. The Perch was well prepared and delicious. The one thing that was off was the proportion of the perch to the flour tortilla. I fixed the problem by removing some of the tortilla; I would prefer they added a bit more perch or switched to smaller tortillas. My dad had the Breakfast Burger with fries and couldn't stop raving about it. The fries were delicious, as well! We got the Brownie Sundae for dessert and all fought over it. Our dinner didn't come with rolls, so we had to ask for them. Lastly, when my sister ordered wine, a Malbec, the waitress was confused and asked my sister again as she didn't know what Malbec was. My sister had to tell the waitress that it was a red wine....a few minutes later the waitress came back and ASKED my sister to POINT to the Malbec wine on the menu. It was pretty clear she didn't know what Malbec was. When we arrived we were told it would be a 20 minute wait what was fine. 45 minutes later we surprised customers that were leaving that we still waited for a table because many tables sat empty. After being seated our server said they had a staff shortage. Management should have told us on arrival that they were understaffed and we then could decide to wait or move on. I am a huge fan of Beechwood. We have several favorite items on their menus and I'm sure the entire menu is amazing. Their fried mushrooms are the absolute best I've ever had! If you order a steak you can get beechwood mushrooms on it and it's they're tiny crispy fried mushrooms! We also love their wings. They're smoked then fried crispy and served with homemade ranch and or blue cheese. I've seen their nachos and onion rings and can't wait to go back to have them. They had Reuben soup for a special that was outstanding! All of their meals come with two sides which I think is great. I also would say that the prices are fair for their portions and considering you get two sides as well. The perch dinner is always a great item to choose on the menu. We've had a couple different steaks and they're seasoned great and cooked exactly how we order them. They have a full bar so don't forget to get a great pour of bourbon, a beer or even a tasty cocktail. You can also get their catering! Beechwood is one of our all time favorite places to eat. Gillian, our bartender, was absolutely fantastic! We ordered bourbon drinks and she suggested we try a "smoked" bourbon drink which I would love to try. O M G, what a delicious hand-crafted unique and subtle cocktail! Great way to start our evening, followed by some delicious appetizers of breaded mushrooms, fried pickles and onion rings. This place deserves nothing less than five stars. For the price you pay, the portion and sides are unbelievably big - especially today as prices are going up. I got the steak tips with fries and a Caesar salad. The salad could have practically been a meal itself! The flavors on everything were absolutely perfect too. We ordered the sweet potato fries with fluffernutter sauce - oh man, was that a delicious treat! The mushrooms in my steak tip entree were the best I've had. My steak tips were over cooked, but I don't fault them with that because I don't think I've been to a restaurant where tips were cooked just right. Being so small that's hard to do! My wife got the same but with the loaded baked potato, which was to die for. Our waitress was nice, fast, and attentive.
