Very convenient location when exploring Holland! Prices are reasonable and good selection of menu options. Had the grilled chicken wrap and a salad. Many drink options and even though it was crowded the wait staff was attentive and helpful.

We stopped in one evening to grab a quick drink but ended up decided to order some food. Firstly? What a busy place! We were lucky to grab a seat on the bar side and we were impressed with the digital iPad menus. I enjoyed the margarita flight and the dumplings. My husband is still raving over the Reuben sandwich. We will definitely return when we're in Holland!

A must stop if you are looking for a good pizza. Out of the three, our favorite was the Cacio de Pepe. The drinks were good and the vibes were fun.

Pastrami on Rye

I love old buildings and the history they invoke. When done right it's truly a top notch atmosphere and hops does it right. From the old brick walls that still have old advertisements on them to the tin ceiling it's just a pleasant environment. They have two long narrow rooms that were probably separate in the past, but combined they allow plenty of seating. I ordered the Pastrami on Rye ($18). This is House smoked brisket pastrami, Swiss cheese, grilled onion, house pickles, and rocket sauce on sourdough rye. It is delicious. Complex weave of flavors all coming together to be a heck of a sandwich. I really enjoyed the pickles on them. I only got the chips with them and they were ok, but nothing special. The person I was with ordered the Trumpet Burger ($), a 2019 James Beard Foundation Blended Burger Project Award Winner. This is a 70:30 grind of local brisket and Pebble Creek mushrooms, house bacon, Roelli Red Rock cheddar bleu, Gochujang pickled shallot, arugula, and duck mayo on a sesame seed bun. It was declared to be fantastic. I had some of the fries that came with it and they were very good. The service was excellent. Very efficient and friendly. Overall an easy 5 star review. I understand why it's so popular in Holland and I will return.

Came here with my fiancé when Hollander was absolutely been popping for the Tulip festival. The wait was very long but we snagged two spots at the bar. Had a far 5 hour drive home so didn't get a beer. We got one of the new pizzas. It was absolutely amazing.. since we had breakfast earlier, we weren't all that super hungry but ordering one pizza we still had leftovers. Menus are digital but on an iPad so pictures made everything look amazing. Smart marketing.

I haven't been to many restaurants in Holland, so recently Nate and I met up with some friends at Hops 84 East at their recommendation. I was really happy with our visit - the menu is really large with some interesting items. It's a little bit of Asian fusion/new American with a chef-y twist. We were seated in the main dining area of the large restaurant and our server was really helpful with recommendations. We started with the honey whipped ricotta, which was creamy and delicious, with a bit of heat. I really liked the grilled bread that it came with, as it wasn't overly crunchy and had a nice grilled flavor. I'd get this again! For my entree, I was stuck between a couple options and our server recommended the Thai pasta salad. I added the fried chicken thighs for some protein. Nate got the fried chicken sandwich with hand cut fries. Our food didn't take too long to come out and the portions were generous. I loved the Thai pasta salad, with its creamy peanut dressing, springy udon noodles, and fresh veggies. I will actually try recreating this at home because I loved it so much. The crispy chicken thighs were perfectly fried and juicy. The only complaint I had was that I wished the broccoli was chopped a little smaller as it was raw, but overall it was a 5/5 for me. Nate loved his chicken sandwich. I had some of the fries, which were good, but a thicker hand cut than I typically prefer. I didn't get any dessert, but the ube cheesecake was calling me! If I lived closer, this would be my go-to spot, since the menu is so large and varied.

So to preface my review - this is a 5 star for the type of food it is - more bar type food. We ordered a series of appetizers. Fried picked, pretzels and then the pizza to split among all 7 of us. The best of the 3 was the pizza. Others were alright. Next our meals. We ordered a wide variety of things and almost everything came out good. From the burgers to the Irish specials they had. The corn beef hash was a huge hit. We ended with the butter cake and the lava cake, both were fantastic. The service was really solid and so was the ambiance. Overall this is a 4.5 place but I think it earned a 5.

Hops at 84 East delivers on every level--flavor, creativity, and quality ingredients. Their James Beard Blended Burger Project winner The Trumpet Burger is a must-try, featuring mix of local brisket and Pebble Creek mushrooms, house bacon, Roelli Red Rock cheddar bleu, Gochujang pickled shallot, arugula, and duck mayo on a sesame seed bun. It's rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. The Levant salad packs a flavorful punch as well - little gem lettuce, carrots, peppadew peppers, radish, red onion, spicy chickpeas, goat cheese, and sunflower seeds, all tossed in a bright za'atar vinaigrette. We added some grilled chicken to ours. And don't miss the baked goat cheese app--warm, creamy chèvre in a spicy marinara with Calabrian chilis, served with toast for dipping. So flavorful. Great food, great service, a laid-back atmosphere, and a solid drink selection including Athletic on tap make Hops at 84 East a spot worth visiting in Holland. Will definitely be back when we're in the area.

Rueben with House-Cut Fresh Fries

Went with an old friend for a lunch meetup. We got there right at open and there's two big indoor sections for seating and a decent outdoor space as well but unfortunately it was going to rain. The service was fine I forget our girl but very friendly and courteous and offered up some suggestions when asked. It didn't take long for our food to come out (again might have been first order of the day) but wow. I got the Rueben and he ordered the meat pizza and boy were we pleased. The portion sizes were large but ultimately the flavor was amazing- definitely one of the best Rueben's I had and I got some extra sauce to dip in and the sauce was delicious with an extra kick. Also does my fries in that but the fries were big in the steak style. So tasty I definitely would recommend and I personally can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Music

I love getting an evening drink here and listening to the live music. Awesome spot to hangout, talk with some friends, or even watch a game. Fun patio seating out front and the bar atmosphere here is one of my favorites. I never choose to eat here as their menu is too eclectic for their target audience, but I enjoy the appetizers and burgers. Make sure to come at night and sit on the bar side. Also great for a social district drink! Best to order: Margarita flight, mule, burger, any appetizer

Trumpet burger

The trumpet burger is a phenomenon. Thick cut smoky charred bacon. Great char on the burger itself, the cheddar blue cheese is understated which is nice. Decent selection of beer. We sat outside with our dog - they bring out a dog bowl for water if the furry guy needs it. We also tried the Korean fried chicken sandwich, was really good as well. There are tourist traps and really solid restaurants and this is the later.

always need to stop by hops when in town! i've always gotten just apps or their pizzas but decided to finally try a burger and i was not disappointed! i sat at the bar. the bartender was very busy but helpful. the patrons were locals that told me all about the history of hops and how it's one of their favorite spots in town.

Chicken & Grits

I have put re-visiting Hops off way too long. I was here once, before I moved to Holland. The service is outstanding here. From the front door on through this establishment. The energy around you pulls you right in. It's cozy and comfortable. I ordered the margarita flight at the bar, then our table was ready. It was worthy of another, that's for sure! My dinner choice was Chicken & Grits. My partner ordered the Salmon with miso barley risotto. Please go to their website for the full details. This I was the BEST meal and experience I have had in Holland to date. We ended the meal with Brown Butter Cake. Aubrey was our experience director and she was fantastic. Engaging, knowledgeable of the menu, and gave honest feedback to our questions. That's how we ended up with the most delicious dessert we have had in a long time. I may settle here for a while since this experience was so positive and greatly appreciated!

So, when my friends and I were in Saugatuck for a bachelorette party and decided to stop by New Holland Brewery, I was stoked and we were not disappointed. The vibes, service, and food were all great, and the menu has plenty of options to choose from. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a table upstairs that comfortably fit our large group, which was impressive given how busy the place was. Our waitress did an amazing job keeping up with such a big party and made sure everyone was taken care of. The menu offers a nice variety, including starters, pizzas, salads, soups, and sandwiches, all at very reasonable prices. Most entrees fall in the $15 to $20 range. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because so many items sounded good, but I ultimately ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich for $15 with a side of cream of potato soup. Both were excellent. The chicken was huge, perfectly cooked, and well-seasoned with just the right amount of heat. The soup was creamy with a great balance of potatoes. Overall, I genuinely loved my meal and would absolutely return the next time I am in town. I also did not hear a single complaint from anyone in our group, which says a lot when dining with a large party.

Our waitress was really nice and overall service was quick. We ordered the Lemon Chicken and the Wedge Salad. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is mainly because of the chicken dish. I was expecting it to be more citrusy, but I feel like whatever lemon flavor it was meant to have was lost by some sort of sweetness. I think the Meyer lemon butter made the dish was so oddly sweet it mixed in with the rice underneath. Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!
