When my Food arrived I requested to have my fries remade since they were NOT HOT & had most likely been sitting under a light ( is my guess ) for a while.After 25 minutes fresh fries did arrive but as you might imagine now my sandwich was COLD.I asked my waitress ( who was lovely in every way!!!! ) to please send a manager over so I could express my frustration. The manager was apologetic & comped my food - but fun fact,I now had a cold sandwich with hot fries. Literally one was switched for the other. Although I appreciate the slight concern, it would have been nice to offer me an altogether HOT meal complete with everything HOT at the same time.Am I asking too much? I didn't get a meal that day- just some hot fries.....& actually the thought of this still annoys me. Please consider the entire meal & remember,I came to EAT not "negotiate " 1/2 of a HOT meal. I asked the waiter to find out who made them and was delighted when he said they were from Winston's! The hostess was absolutely charming. Bright and welcoming smile. Portions are huge. I would ask that you offer a smaller portion in addition to what you currently serve. Six bangers plus potatoes is way too much for many people. I hate to waste food. We were not served any bread. One of the menu options is to pick a steak from next door and they'll prepare it for you, which is honestly a good deal. The cheese curds satisfied my craving - okay, admittedly, many of them were monterey jack squares, but I didn't want to push them and ask for "all curds" - and they were willing to sub queso dip for the standard ranch. Very nice of them! After that, I was rather full but wanted some nutrition. They prepared a side salad, which isn't on the menu at all - your standard lettuce/tomato/cuke/etc. Again, generous portion at a good price, and very nice of them. Other perks: rotating root beer of the month if you don't want to drink, a ton of customizable burgers. We picked this restaurant because it seemed to have one of the nicest outdoor seating options amongst eateries downtown. We also chose it because of the several relatively unusual menu options and a decent number of veggie options (though some items, we were told, could not be customized, such as Brussels sprouts that could be fried only in tallow). I ordered the Harissa pasta. It is a vegetarian pasta with a creamy Harissa sauce, onions, tomatoes and cheese (parmesan?). It had a strange though not entirely unpleasant taste: it was simultaneously sour and savoury, with the tomatoes adding some sweetness. I could only eat about half because the flavours started to get overwhelming, and spent most of my time figuring out if I liked the dish or not (verdict: yes). My dining partner had the flounder, which they were very pleased with. Our server was enthusiastic though a little harried. Quick service overall. I am not sure if I recommend this place for its food. While the outdoor seating area is very pretty, with great atmosphere, the food itself is not spectacular.
