Side bar - coffee & sweet treats
Teresa M.

Stopped into the SideBar (coffee shop inside the brewery) for some morning juice. Decent nitro coffee & lemon poppy seed muffin. Paid under $15 with tip for 2 nitros & 1 lemon poppyseed muffin. Nitro left no bitter aftertaste, slightly acidic, and no excessive amount of foam... which has been a common issue elsewhere lately. A good stop for a pick me up, especially if you need some caffeine between the OTHER brews. The serves seemed happy and were chatty with each other. We did stroll up on a conversation about a customer that comes it regularly & doesn't tip. Probably not a good front of the house conversation, yet maybe people need to hear it, eh. (This stop will not count in our Hundreds of Hops tour, as we didn't hit up the brewery- maybe we'll make it back before we leave town tho.

I hadn't been to Odd Side Ales in years, so Nate and I stopped in and had a drink while visiting the area recently. The space is large and great for groups, with plenty of communal seating and a huge bar. They have some games available an we saw people playing cards. They have 50+ taps with all types of beer. They also serve hard slushees, wine, cider, and seltzers. We sat at the bar and had great service. Nate got a flight and I got a mimosa beer that was refreshing and delicious. The flight is always our go-to when visiting a new brewery or one we haven't been to in awhile. Nate liked all the tastes he got and I really enjoyed some of the darker specialty stouts. They don't serve food at Odd Side Ales, but you're welcome to bring food in or you can order directly from several of their local restaurant partners nearby, then they'll deliver right to your table. Odd Side Ales also houses the Side Bar coffee counter that serves lattes, hot chocolate, coffee, and smoothies and shakes. This is a family-friendly spot that seems to have something for everyone! I look forward to visiting whenever I'm in the area.

Went for coffee. This place has a great atmosphere for coffee and for craft beer. My latte was made very well. I requested half/half and it was made perfectly. However, the iced americano was a disappointment mainly for the fact that it was small, and completely full of ice. And for the price of $4.50, it's not worth it. I hope they redesign this drink. All in all, it was a good experience, we'll return.

Came across this place on my little day trip to Grand Haven. Was here in the early afternoon for a coffee but ended up getting a matcha latte instead. The matcha was really good. My sister got a smoothie which was sort of watery tasting, but not that bad. The service was good and the overall ambiance of the place is nice! Very spacious, I can see it being a hot spot at night. Also a good spot to study or use your laptop while enjoying your drink. Overall, really good and I hope to come back again another day :)

Still my favorite brewpub in Grand Haven. I just keep finding new things to love. This time it was Odd Side's take on the White Russian cocktail. It's all the goodness any self-respecting Dude would expect, but Odd Side cranks to eleven by adding root beer. Bring a friend because you'll be chain drinking these things before you even decide whether chain drinking is even a thing. Have food delivered from one of GH's nearby eateries and you've got yourself a a full on free for all. Odd Side has so many staple and seasonal brews. Staff are friendly and let you try it before you buy it. Great atmosphere. Visit often!

Not one to usually get a flight but this bucket list brewery...I couldn't pick just one. Great beer in a cool building that lives up to the hype. Can't wait to come back

We stopped by Odd Side Ales on the way to the Musical Fountain while in Grand Haven. There is an awesome outside sitting area to enjoy your brews and ciders. The city ordinance does shut the outside area down at 10pm, which is a bummer- it's so nice to be able to be outside to enjoy the ambiance of the downtown area. My favorite was the cinnamon apple cider- it is SO good, I wish I would've gotten a growler to go!

Stopped by Odd Side Ale's Coffee Bar, 'Side Bar' with my Husband on my birthday. I wish we had a place like this in Grand Rapids! I love their open space, lighting, and ambience. It gives off such a chill vibe, and I like that they have hangar doors so that you can sit inside, but still feel the breeze. I got the Nitro Cold Brew and my husband got the Cafe Glace. I drink my coffee black, so I didn't add any cream or sugar in my drink. My cold brew wasn't bitter by any means, and I like that they got it right from their brew tap. My husband's Cafe Glace came with Chocolate and Caramel syrup. I think his ice cubes were made out of coffee and may have been coated in cocoa powder; can someone confirm? Because if I saw that right, then it's such a innovative idea! You can keep your drink cold, and it won't water down since the ice is made out of coffee. I'll have to start trying that at home. I can confirm confirm that the Nitro Cold Brew was effective, because we walked to the Pier, and I got the Coffee Shakes on the walk back. If you're out in Grand Haven and need something to wake you up, I highly recommend the Cold Brew!

Krumpusbock - solid Odd Fashioned - incredible Blackbeard's Bliss - also really good Culminating Mass - super wheated

Had a better experience this year. Beers were fantastic and going earlier in the day when a bit less busy created a far better experience. Crusher - good, super drinkable Krumpusbock - solid Odd Fashioned - incredible. Holy shit was it like drinking bourbon whiskey. Not barrel-aged flavor, just straight whiskey flavor. No clue how they did that but wow. Bought a bottle to take home. Blackbeard's Bliss- also quite good, but have had some better rum barrel beer of late. Culminating Mass - super wheated barrely. Also very good

I like Odd Side beers. When I saw that they had a shop downtown, we stopped for a pint and looking for a snack. They don't serve food, but you can have food ordered out and delivered to your table, or bring your own. It was a large place. This was the first place that we visited in town that actually reminded us it was a college town. A lot of students on laptops dotted around the dining and coffee area. Headphones on and keeping to themselves. The selections is extensive - I did a flight of interesting brews that all turned out very palatable. I do favor their sours and gose. The service was expedient and happy to help with questions. This establishment also has a full service coffee bar with a very small selection of bakery items in a case. Best of both worlds for sure.

Good cold brew, tasty lattes and enjoyed the pumpkin pecan scone we had as well! They had some great seasonal specials and they make their syrups in house which is nice!

Online menu is not accurate to what is available to go. If paper menus can be scratched out, online can be too.

Yes, they have a small parking lot, and don't fret if you have the park on the street like we did, as we were seating promptly and it didn't feel too crowded. Since we were seated at high tops near the bar, the bar tender was our waitress, and she is literally the nicest, good energy, engaging human ever! She also whips up the custom, creative mimosa recipes, kudos to her for her awesomeness! I ordered the Shakshuka, flavorful, delicious, would order again. Even as a non-vegan, it was satisfying and would recommend to everyone. Husband had the 1964 Worlds Fair Waffle, and it was tiny. Not what you envision when you think of Belgian waffles. He also ordered the Belgian Forest Bacon, again VERY small portion, so much so that at the end of the meal, he had to order a side of the Smashed Maple Sausage. Both our drinks (I had the mimosa) were fantastic and worth ordering, loved the glassware! Aside from the small portions of waffle, bacon, and sausage, the cheerful vibes here are contagious, and I'd dine here again in a heartbeat!

One companion had the Moroccan stew and enjoyed it. Another had a burger, one had fish and chips (fries), another a steak. Interestingly, their steak is cooked in vegan butter. Service was good. TVs are a bit hard to see from the dining area - there is a row of doors acting as a wall between the bar and dining area which blocks the lower part of each TV. Nice outdoor dining space. Will definitely go back.

Some talented and some not so talented regulars took the mic and definitely entertained us. This place has it all going on - great beer options, a limited but worthy menu, friendly wait staff and bartenders, and a good enough cook who can, no doubt, produce good versions of everything on the menu. We loved this place. Other Yelpers I read were enthusiastic about it calling it "a great Michigan dive bar. They weren't wrong. We were so happy with this place we went back the next night.
