We got breakfast take out on Saturday, 11/29/25 around 11:30am after recommendations from The Crue while getting a haircut. The service was great and the food and coffee drinks came out quick. For drinks I had a banana bread latte and he ordered a mocha with an extra shot. Both were delicious! We ordered 3 different entrees to share - I might not have the names right, so please bear with me if you try to find them on the menu and you can't find the exact same thing. Started off strong with the breakfast burrito. It was so good! I don't know if it had a cheese sauce or just melted American cheese, but it was a good balance of cheese, hash browns, eggs and sausage. The munchwrap was awesome with chorizo sausage, hash browns, a tostada for crunch and cheese all grilled up in a flour tortilla. Last and our least liked was the Cheddar Bay Biscuit bowl. I like the concept, but the execution was poor. The biscuit had been microwaved damn near to death. It was hard to cut through with a knife. The consistency was somehow soggy and hard while also chewy. Add to that the saltiest sausage gravy ever. We each ate one bite, said no thank you and tossed it. Everything else was so good, this might just be a bad one off, but I don't think I could be convinced to try it again. As a DD, I had the best experience at Rake Beer Project. I also cannot have sugar and wanted a non-alcoholic choice other than water or the usual one flavored diet soda. I asked the bartender (I wish I would have got his name) if they had any options for me given those 3 things, and he came up with a DELICIOUS sugar free iced coffee option that was so good that one of the friends who had been drinking all night decided she wanted one to go along with her beer. It's sometimes hard as the DD to find a place with any variety and I was so happy to have a place make me a priority too. After all, your DDs are getting those drinkers safely to and from your establishment to bring in those big bucks - so you should give them a little thank you by treating them nicely as well. Located in downtown Muskegon is Rake Beer Project- offering progressive farmhouse ales , cocktails and coffee. They offer delicious coffee and a variety of beers. I had the Baklava - pistachio, cinnamon and honey. It was a perfect blend of flavors. My husband has the Orange Dream cocktail. It was very refreshing . The orange juice and coconut milk blended with vodka was a perfect combination. The interior is open and airy with a variety of seating options, bar seating, a variety of table options and outdoor seating. The garage door creates a transition from inside to outside. I really wanted to love this place. The space has a good vibe, and feels like a hidden gem. It is a bit cold feeling, with concrete floors and walls, but they warm it up a bit with wood topped tables, barrel tables, a wood bar, and an exposed wooden ceiling. There's also a cute space for maybe a DJ or trivia set up. Really, I think I just wasn't in the mood for it. The menu is very limited; they only had 6 drinks available when we went. It's mostly sours, which I am only sometimes in the mood for. My friend and I got the Squishers: a smoothie sour with raspberry, blackberry, orange & lemon. Conditioned on Gushers candy. It sounded really fun, and I loved the Gushers tie in. It ended up being so sweet we each only drank about half. I think I'll try them again in the summer when I'm maybe more in the mood for a sour. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a beer before our friend's wedding. I have wanted to try Rake Beer Project for a long time since I love Kettle Sours, but we don't make it out to Muskegon often. I had high expectations, and the beer did not disappoint! I wish we could have stayed longer but had other stops we wanted to make. I loved the ambiance and the fact they had coffee options in addition to great beer. They also had a free book fair when we were there, which was really cool to see at a brewing. It's definitely worth making a special trip, if we lived closer we would be regulars! read more

Cute little beer place right along the main strip. Drinks were all different, some more adventurous than others. We were in a small group and wanted to check out multiple bars downtown so we ordered the flight. All was mix and match, we got a few beers and sliders. Woorms was the favorite. They also had a peaches and cream frozen drink which was very good! Bartenders were all extremely friendly and happy to answer our questions. read more

Always horrible wait times. We just waited fifteen minutes while the lady behind the counter slowly took her time making the person infront of us order and talking non stop about life. Didn't even acknowledge the three of us as we were standing waiting and listening to their conversation, without any urgency. Will not be coming back. Need more people to assist on a weekend. read more

Ambitious, interesting, stingy. Their mission of brewing "progressive farmhouse beer" is admirable, and in my opinion, they do a great job at it. However, they will not give any kind of taste or sample which is, frankly, not acceptable in the brewery culture - and particularly when the beers are as expensive as they are here. When you are spending this much for a beer, you want to be sure you are going to truly enjoy it, but they will not give even the smallest complimentary taste. Their beers are quite out of the ordinary and not to everyone's taste due to incorporating different grains and Norwegian yeast. I quite like them myself, but be aware that you might get stuck paying $9 for a beer you really don't care for at all. If in doubt, order a $3-$5 2 ounce sample or just go for the Marley Biere, their nice, lightly sour, low alcohol, refreshing standard. read more

I came to Rake Beer Project for the first time yesterday with my boyfriend and my parents to celebrate my birthday. This place is GREAT! They have lots of sour beers on tap, and I personally love sours. The Bloody Heart of the City beer is FANTASTIC. You can truly taste all the fruit flavors and vanilla. It's quite an experience. All the beers were very tasty, and the bartender said their menu rotates. My boyfriend bought a case of Bloody Heart of the City, and the cans are unique and colorful. This place is in the basement of a building, so keep going even if you think you're in the wrong place. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio as well. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

Visited this awesome place when we were visiting from California, heard about them through their collab beer with Burning Barrel. We've been coming to western Michigan every year for 20+ years and this is some of the best beer/vibes we've found around! The fact that they're open until pretty late every day is great, and the place was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The beers were immaculate, our favorites were the reanimate and the superorganism. We will absolutely be back to Rake!!! read more
