To say we missed the great food scene in GR is an understatement. We certainly found a gem in Farmhouse. The ambiance at Farmhouse is upscale but not too stuffy. The service was excellent. We had the wagu sirloin. My wife said it was the best steak she has had in a long time. The highlight for me was when I gave AJ, the bartender, a fun challenge to make up a bourbon based drink for me. AJ accepted my challenge and came up with an amazing fall spiced bourbon drink using Iron Fish's maple bourbon. Farmhouse is located on a golf course and closes on November 1 through the winter. Third Life is located in the former office of an old warehouse that I believe was an old Iron Ore company ( if memory serves me right). The brewery even has the old safe still in wall. I got my usual flight that consisted of Cat Jammin'-Raspberry (Raspberry Wheat), Tomtoberfest (Marzen), S.S. Dankowiak (DIPA) and the Duke of Witch Tree (Hazy IPA). All of them were really good but the S.S. Dankowiak was the star of my flight board. Cool atmosphere with lots of table and board games. Good music playing and a cool brewery sticker. The maple syrup is very light and the whole syrup and hot bit tastes like a mapley sauce which is pretty nice. The slaw on it with kale is pretty good. Not overpowering, sweet or saucy. It has kale in it which is interesting. The pickles are nice. There's kind of like a sweet bread and butter pickle and are really good, but I think I prefer them off of the sandwich. The waffle itself is pretty weak and wet and not very crispy. If they worked on the waffle, this could be a pretty stellar dish. It was our server's top recommendation! Sunday night 7 pm, busy but only a 5 min wait. Everyone who helped us, from hostess to bill, was outstandingly kind and very personable. These are passionate, knowledgable people who seem to be having a lot of fun. It's infectious! I asked the bartender (I wish I would have got his name) if they had any options for me given those 3 things, and he came up with a DELICIOUS sugar free iced coffee option that was so good that one of the friends who had been drinking all night decided she wanted one to go along with her beer. It's sometimes hard as the DD to find a place with any variety and I was so happy to have a place make me a priority too. After all, your DDs are getting those drinkers safely to and from your establishment to bring in those big bucks - so you should give them a little thank you by treating them nicely as well. Everything else was so good, this might just be a bad one off, but I don't think I could be convinced to try it again.
