We had a wonderful sever named Veda, who was helpful, polite and on top of her service. We chose this place because of its outdoor seating so we could bring our fur baby (who was very welcome, Veda even offered to bring out a water bowl for him). The view was great, right on the water. The two appetizers that we ordered, sweet potato, fries, and cheese curds, we're both very tasty. My raspberry lemonade Moscato was awesome! It cost nine dollars, but was definitely worth it. Our only complaint about this place, is it was very difficult to find. And once we did, we climb down a flight of stairs to get to the outdoor seating. I came here for the first time finally, I always heard about their good food , and they didn't disappoint! Coming inside there is a nice amount of different seating arrangements and a self service wine area to your right, and the bar to your left. We ordered some pasta and cheese curds , along with wine of course. Everything from the wine to the food was very good, I really wasn't expecting that quality of food , I'm still impressed . The owner was also very nice and we had a couple good laughs with her as well. The only thing that was annoying were the fruit flys everywhere, from the self service wine area, all the way back to the bar where we were sitting. It made the meal less appetizing. I went out for dinner by myself and was pleasantly surprised by how the bartender Austin paired my wine with my ahi tuna stack, and provided rather nice small talk. The service was fast. Absolute gem in town! Beautiful ambiance and outdoor seating to boot. Must try a wine flight, and James or Megean would both be great to pair your wine with your meal. Very knowledgeable! My fiancé had the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. The creamy garlic mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were to die for. This restaurant has it all! The location is picturesque- it's located on the river, very close to Lake Michigan. Outdoor seating is wonderful. The waitstaff are all friendly and welcoming. Our server, Stacey, was super enthusiastic, sweet, and energetic! And the trifecta- the food was exceptional! My grilled salmon risotto dish was so good that I wish I lived in Manitowoc and could frequent Waterfront Wine Bar! My husband enjoyed his grilled chicken sandwich and fries. As a more recent update to my review from 2021 I got a chance to return to the Waterfront Wine bar during a recent visit to Wisconsin and of course I had to see what was happening there as this was/is one of my favorite businesses in downtown Manitowoc. During this visit I not only indulged in the argon wine pour system they have but also had dinner on this trip which was a first for me at this business. From a positive perspective the food was good, where the star of the dinner was the Pad Thai which was excellent and the Spagetti Carbanaro and Asian Chicken wrap, although good, was not on par with the excellent Pad Thai. The wine available on the Argon pour system was quite good, especially on the high end, featuring Orin Swift wines which are $50 bottles if you buy them at home but more like $100 a bottle if purchased at a restaurant. Unfortunately there were limited choices on the budget friendly Reds that I look for at these wine tasting stations and which were more available the last time I was here in 2021. Part of the problem I believe is that they have taken one of their three argon pour stations (each station holds five or six individual bottles) and dedicated it to a whiskey tasting station which I am not sure was like that in Jan 2021. Oh well, many people might consider this a minor point but for me is was definately an annoyance. Overall I am still very pleased with this business and the cool historical vibe associated with the building and its location on the riverfront but have to drop a star from my original rating due to lack of less expensive wines for tasting. Unfortunately it's not clear to me why this business located in a blue collar town of 30K people would not take this into consideration when selecting the wines in their tasting station but hopefully they will get back to a more budget friendly selection again at which point I would definately give them back their 5th star. Fingers crossed I see this the next time I return, which I defiantly will be doing the next time I visit Wisconsin. read more

The weather was perfect for some adult beverages and light eats. The Waterfront Wine Bar exceeded our expectations. Our outdoor seating was nice and quiet. There were maybe two or three other tables. For this reason it was fairly private. My first beverage of choice was a Dirty Martini. Our server was super attentive as to my preference. After the martini quenched my thirst I was super excited to see my current favorite white wine as a choice on their selection of wines. We returned the following evening for another glass before we had to leave town the next day. Due to our late lunch we wanted a dinner that was lighter so not to make our pants tighter. The Meat and Cheese Charcuterie Board was a good choice. We loved all the variety of cheese selected. My husband enjoyed all the choices of meat. As for me, it is official... I just do not like salami. That's a "me thing", not a restaurant quality issue. read more

Service: Friendly and helpful staff. They are attentive, but respect when you are trying to catch up with an old friend and need your space. Atmosphere: Fun and inviting! I love their waterfront seating area in the summer and the inside is comfy cozy with little nooks to sit at, a large bar area, and nice tables. The bathrooms were spotless when I used them as well. The inside was clean all around. Drinks: Yayyyy for an extensive cocktail, beer and wine list. I love coming here, I know whatever I chose it will be awesome. They have a really great clam digger that is hard to resist when I stop in. Food: YUM. I forgot to take photos but wow. Really fresh and quality ingredients PACKED with flavor in every bite. I loved the mole chicken bao buns I had, I could make a meal out of them. So good. Any time that I am in town on business or visiting family I try my hardest to make a stop here. read more

So close to five stars! Great ambiance, outstanding food, excellent and friendly service, awesome location. Being a wine bar, I expected a more diverse selection of wines. While the selection was quite good, it did not quite live up to my snobby tastes. :-) unfortunately, I did not learn of their cuvée station (wine sampling) until after I ordered a glass (will try that next time). The food exceeded expectations. It was on a par with what you would expect in more upscale communities. I will definitely return. read more

The food, for the most part, is very good. The service is hit and miss. Our first experience on a Thursday was wonderful. We returned a 2nd time on a Saturday. The dining area was only 1/4 filled. To start, the waitress asked if we knew what we wanted shortly after we sat down. Way too soon. There are no paper menus to view. You have to scan your phone and read it from there. When we did order, the waitress had to return and ask one of us at our table. What did you order again? I can't read my own handwriting. No water glasses were refilled, and no offers to order more drinks. The worst part was that when we received our checks, each receipt had a $12 service charge (for parties of 5 or more). With 3 receipts, we were charged an additional $36 for service undeserving of any tip. I don't anticipate the restaurant to be in business very long if they can't maintain consistency. read more

Good atmosphere but food was disappointing. 18$ for "elevated" Alfredo that had no season or lemon flavor and pasta was obviously not homemade so idk why the price is so high. Mediterranean Flatbread was dry and flavorless as well and the salmon risotto had a hair in it. We also got a round of sangria which was half filled glass with ice and about 3 sips of wine. But this restaurant, in addition to the seated group of 12, has at least 15 other four-tops inside and 5-8 four-tops outside. The restaurant was only half full inside, so you do the math. Wow! What an awesome place! Hidden gem that has great character, friendly staff and amazing food! Last night was our first time trying this place but it definitely won't be our last time! The Caribbean Salmon with rice and the best Brussel Sprouts I've ever had. Even the house salad was outstanding with the ranch dressing. Inside seating includes tables, bar and couches, or sit outside along the river on the boardwalk. If you Street park you'll have to deal with a set of stairs, but you can park by the Maritime Museum and walk the path under the bridge. You won't de disappointed! Give them a try! read more

My wife and I wandered down to this place during Subfest. Kind of cool walking under the 8th Street bridge. Met and talked to the owner. She was very nice. A pleasant waitress brought us a wine list and menus. We decided on a Pinot Noir and some garlic hummus. We got a good pour. The hummus came with fresh veggies and various crispy crackers. It was really, really good. Look forward to trying the brie next time. A nice, classy place right on the Manitowoc River. If the river was a foot and a half higher it would be in the door. There is seating inside and on a patio next to the river. I tend to ignore reviews by people who whine about perceived slights. If you're in downtown Manitowoc and are looking for a nice haven, a glass of wine and/or a quality snack it would behoove you to check this place out read more

Beautiful restaurant and bar. Relaxing environment. I think their food is more tapas style. We ordered a few things to try. All delicious. The chicken lemongrass soup is flavorful with plenty of fresh ingredients. The baked Brie with honey is tasty and you get a lot of different kinds of crackers, nuts and berries. The spicy coconut chicken bao buns are yummy. I had the cherry vodka lemonade, wow, so good! I really don't know about the wine tastings and please don't go based on their first cranky Yelp review. Glad they have gluten free options- I just WISH they would offer gluten free bread in future :) I had a delicious and refreshing salad- the chicken pecan salad minus the chicken SUB shrimp. I also had to try their scallop appetizer- and WOW I could have like 10 of those!! Made to perfection!! My boyfriend enjoyed his shrimp pad thai very much- he asked for HOT and he got it nice and spicy!! He had a very generous portion. Our server seemed to be the bartender as well- and was training someone. He was a master of all trades and I was grateful for how knowledgeable and accommodating he was! I honestly wish I tried more things there! Will definitely be back when back in town! The margarita I had was in a fancy glass- but I honestly wish it was a more generous portion! First time at this wine bar. The menu looked very nice and the drink selection was very good. My husband and I each enjoyed a wine flight and the margarita flight and we shared the 1/2 cheese and meat board ($32). Because I am gluten free I asked if they had GF crackers and the server said they did. When the meat and cheese board came out it was on the smaller size which for the price seemed surprising but we thought the cheese would be artisan cheese. It is not. Just regular store bought block cheese, a couple of blue berries, and few dried crasins and some small pieces of shaved meats. Barely enough to share. It did come with a small amt of GF crackers which I appreciated. When the bill came we noticed we were be charged $38 for the board. When we brought this up with the server she took the bill back conferred with some other employees and came back to our table. She was very apologetic and said it's my fault. I forgot to tell you that there was a up charge for the GF crackers of $6. $6 for about 15 small crackers from a box I know to cost $6. We expected her to then say that since she didn't tell us about the charge it was removed. But no. So it was reflected in her tip. Overall this is not a special place, it is not a place where I will go again for a meal. Maybe a drink outside overlooking the water. read more

Horrible food ! Ordered charcuterie board 1/2 , 27 dollars had only a few bites of crumbled cheese .. and not good cheese , 10. Crackers, 8 blueberries, 8 dried cranberries and a sm cup of pickled vegetables.. it was such a rip off and horrible. She didn't offer comp entrees which is what I would have at my hotel restaurant! Ya, I begged for that... seeing a pattern of the customer begging here for everything?nope, they took off the cheapest $9 entree off. And when I got the Pad Thai order with medium spice.... it was WAAAAY HOTTER than what hell is!!! Still the waitress couldn't see I ordered a pitcher of water & was shaking & not eating the dish AT ALL!!!! My lips were burning all night! So obvious & I wasn't on the mood to complain again. Great dinner, wine and service. It might be the only shining star downtown. It was exceptional, I'll be back on my next trip. Both cabs were good and I did not recognize the name. The chicken noodle had great broth and firm vegetables...very fresh! I also had a Greek salad. It was fresh and full of flavor but there was a tad too much sweetness in the dressing. If I could give ZERO stars I would. We made reservations for 530pm, arrived and were seated at 545pm. Ordered drinks and an appetizers. The appetizers took a half an hour for avacodo cheese dip and every single chip was broken into small pieces as if it was the bottom of the bag. We ordered our food the same time the appetizers was ordered. 8pm.....NO FOOD!! WE SPENT OVER $100 ON DRINKS BETWEEN 6 PEOPLE! We asked about our order and asked if it had been started and the waitress stated "we are so far behind, it has not." We cashed out and left. Do not bother spending a dime at this over rated establishment, it is a f$#:ing joke. Seriously, the menu is not that robust, there is no excuse for that type of service.
