Ahi tuna stack with my wine

I went out for dinner by myself and was pleasantly surprised by how the bartender Austin paired my wine with my ahi tuna stack, and provided rather nice small talk. The service was fast. I got my food within twenty minutes of ordering, and the ambiance matched well with the food and the music.

this is my go to place! Staff is kind, the owner's energy is amazing, love the food & ambience! New Year's Eve dinner was also amazing!

This place is well appointed with great seating right on the river. They have a good selection of wines, service is pleasant and the food is decent. We had fried cheese curds as an app (it is WI after all). Mu husband steak tacos which he loved and I had Ahi Tuna salad also good.

This restaurant has it all! The location is picturesque- it's located on the river, very close to Lake Michigan. Outdoor seating is wonderful. The waitstaff are all friendly and welcoming. Our server, Stacey, was super enthusiastic, sweet, and energetic! And the trifecta- the food was exceptional! My grilled salmon risotto dish was so good that I wish I lived in Manitowoc and could frequent Waterfront Wine Bar! My husband enjoyed his grilled chicken sandwich and fries. My wine flight was also fun!

Enjoying a pour from the Argon wine tasting station

As a more recent update to my review from 2021 I got a chance to return to the Waterfront Wine bar during a recent visit to Wisconsin and of course I had to see what was happening there as this was/is one of my favorite businesses in downtown Manitowoc. During this visit I not only indulged in the argon wine pour system they have but also had dinner on this trip which was a first for me at this business. From a positive perspective the food was good, where the star of the dinner was the Pad Thai which was excellent and the Spagetti Carbanaro and Asian Chicken wrap, although good, was not on par with the excellent Pad Thai. The wine available on the Argon pour system was quite good, especially on the high end, featuring Orin Swift wines which are $50 bottles if you buy them at home but more like $100 a bottle if purchased at a restaurant. Unfortunately there were limited choices on the budget friendly Reds that I look for at these wine tasting stations and which were more available the last time I was here in 2021. Part of the problem I believe is that they have taken one of their three argon pour stations (each station holds five or six individual bottles) and dedicated it to a whiskey tasting station which I am not sure was like that in Jan 2021. Oh well, many people might consider this a minor point but for me is was definately an annoyance. Overall I am still very pleased with this business and the cool historical vibe associated with the building and its location on the riverfront but have to drop a star from my original rating due to lack of less expensive wines for tasting. Unfortunately it's not clear to me why this business located in a blue collar town of 30K people would not take this into consideration when selecting the wines in their tasting station but hopefully they will get back to a more budget friendly selection again at which point I would definately give them back their 5th star. Fingers crossed I see this the next time I return, which I defiantly will be doing the next time I visit Wisconsin.

Service: Friendly and helpful staff. They are attentive, but respect when you are trying to catch up with an old friend and need your space. Atmosphere: Fun and inviting! I love their waterfront seating area in the summer and the inside is comfy cozy with little nooks to sit at, a large bar area, and nice tables. The bathrooms were spotless when I used them as well. The inside was clean all around. Drinks: Yayyyy for an extensive cocktail, beer and wine list. I love coming here, I know whatever I chose it will be awesome. They have a really great clam digger that is hard to resist when I stop in. Food: YUM. I forgot to take photos but wow. Really fresh and quality ingredients PACKED with flavor in every bite. I loved the mole chicken bao buns I had, I could make a meal out of them. So good. Any time that I am in town on business or visiting family I try my hardest to make a stop here.

So close to five stars! Great ambiance, outstanding food, excellent and friendly service, awesome location. Being a wine bar, I expected a more diverse selection of wines. While the selection was quite good, it did not quite live up to my snobby tastes. :-) unfortunately, I did not learn of their cuvée station (wine sampling) until after I ordered a glass (will try that next time). The food exceeded expectations. It was on a par with what you would expect in more upscale communities. I will definitely return.

    Yummy salad. Orange chicken.

I ordered the chicken tenders and the person with me ordered the brie platter. Both were amazing. My chicken tenders were some of the best I've ever had. I don't know what they used in the breading, but it was excellent. I tried a tasting of the sweet wines and love the blackberry wine and the peach Chardonnay. They also have outdoor seating. We did sit inside, if you're up in that area definitely go check it out.

Both the wine and the chocolates were very nice. We wound up buying a bottle of the Tuscan reserve to take home with some of the chocolates we couldn't finish. After a rest we came back for dinner at the Granary Bourbon bar. We were warmly welcomed. We liked the casual vibe and surprisingly it was not too loud. We started with a flight of old fashioned cocktails. We tried vanilla bean, honeycomb, and our favorite the cinnamon appke. For dinner we both had the Friday perch fry. The perch itself was very good with a nice panko coating. The fries were good too but they could have been warmer. Our server was very attentive and friendly. They were definitely on the game. Can't wait to return!

Updating my review to rave about our recent service…read more Joined by my bestie and her husband who drove all the way from Denver to see us, my partner and I returned to The Blind Horse for a birthday dinner. My bestie is SEVERELY allergic to poultry and her husband was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease which means gluten is no good (even "cross contamination"). This makes finding a restaurant that can accommodate their needs a huge challenge. Our server went out of her way to talk to the chef and check things out. They were able to accommodate these specific diets and still beautifully create their entrees. It has been horrible to adjust life with Celiac, so when the food came out, I really thought there might be some tears of joy. ;) This gave us more reasons to come back! Thank you!

We saw there were little signs by the doors that tell you what building is what. Once inside, we were seated immediately. Our waitress got us drinks within a minute of sitting down. I think her name was Ella or Ellie- she was very good. Knew when to come over and when to not come over. I ordered the lobster cargot for an appetizer - it didn't have much taste so I would pass on this in the future. The corn chowder was amazing !!!! Very flavorful. My lobster ravioli had a very nice portion size and lots of extra lobster. Our bill for 2 people who each had two alcoholic beverages was $150 with the tip. Cute date night spot. The reason for the 4 star was the blackened snapper paella wasn't good. The fish was burnt not blackened. My friend took the bottom off because of how burnt it was.
