Just a little off 131 in Wayland, Michigan is this little brewery. We stopped on our way down to Kalamazoo from flying in to GR. The staff was very friendly (not surprising for Michigan) and the small space was filled with locals and families. We talked with the Beertender about being from Florida and just visiting home for a long weekend and when he found out we traveled often and always went to breweries, he quickly offered up some stickers for us to place at different breweries for them. I love that kind of stuff. We tried OpenRoad Brewery Scizor, Citradisiac Pale Ale, Easy Street Stout, Eldorado, Girl in a T-Shirt, Up the Country, and Whiterazz.

I CANNOT believe it has taken us 8 months to finally check out Open Road, we live just down the road and kept talking about going there. Finally we went. The bar was a bit full, a couple tables were filled. We ordered our beers at the bar and take out food. We tried the Blueberry Lemonade Mead, highly recommended! So tasty. We will be coming back again and again for the mead. Come on in, find a seat and a wonderful staff member will take your order.

Gotta love this joint! I must, I am mug 269! Seriously though, this is a great place to wet your whistle and chat up your fellow Waylanders. Not a local? Not a problem. The talk is always good and the beer outstanding. They also have an impressive selection of coders and mead. Well rounded! The point is lost for food offerings. They are still trying to figure it out, but what's there isn't so bad. They also need to be better staffed. Their workers are breaking their butts.

Drinking a Road Rage Double IPA. 9.8 abv. Probably the best double IPA I have had yet!

Wow what a great place to drink really good craft beer and hang out in an atmosphere that is very friendly and comfortable. Love the story and history of the building. Gotta check this place out!

Great beer, great service. Just had an appetizer , spicy beer cheese did is very tasty. I'm not an IPA fan but their IPA's are the best I've ever had.

Pretty basic deep fried food bar in a small town. Nothing spectacular. Need more menu options and more drink options.

It's conveniently located within the Outlet Mall, so shop, eat and drink til your hearts content. The place is clean, roomy and alive with activity. There is a full service bar, high top tables and regular tables within the place. It also appeared there is an outdoor seating area, but it was closed for the winter. The waitress and host were friendly and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our drinks and food came out really fast. The food was amazing. The group ordered various things. The nachos are HUGE! We chose beef for the meat but you can also get chicken and I think something else. Come hungry if you order this one. It also came with sour cream and salsa at not up charge. We did add the queso for an additional $2. The chips, toppings were all very fresh. The meat was not greasy and plentiful. The other dishes were a Reuben sandwich and a turkey wrap. Both of those were advised to be really good. The tater tots that came as aside on one dish was good but we've had better. Overall, we would definitely come back here again.

We also got the pizza puffs, which were so buttery! Loved it. Great tater tots, and we got the chicken and wild rice soup which was good as well!

We ended up going with the Chicken Couscous, the Caesar Salad, and the Smoke Show sandwich. The sandwich had a tender pulled pork with a really good smoky bbq sauce. The Couscous had great flavor with the tzatziki, and the chicken was really juicy! This was a great spot to meet and watch Monday Night Football. We will definitely be back for the sandwich and couscous!

It was a Sunday evening around 5:00 pm. There were only ten or so customers in the restaurant beside our group and we were told the pork and chicken entrees were "all sold out." Almost every single menu item had an up charge. For example, if you wanted your $16 burger with cheese, it was an extra $1 up charge. Bacon? That's $3. Avacado? Also $3. Or if you wanted to upgrade to fries instead of potato chips as a side, that's a $2 up charge. If you want a protein option for almost any of the main entrees, that was an extra $5-$7 up charge. I had a the burger special of the week; the Patty Melt. The burgers were very dry and overcooked, the rye bread toast was dry, and there was hardly any thousand island dressing. One of the kids in our group got the kids mac and cheese and I swear someone whipped up a box of Kraft in the kitchen and served it with some potato chips. For a $9 kids meal I expect better. And to make matters worse, there was something going on with the sewage system there when we visited. Our table was near the restrooms and you could smell an overwhelming odor of feces coming from the bathroom every time someone opened the door. The rest of the place seemed clean so hopefully that's an outlier issue. The waitstaff was polite and professional however service was quite slow. Our experience left so much to be desired.
