This place is a gem. From the outside it looks like an old 1950's diner meets skating rink. The inside was a wow. It was super cool and very comfortable, including the fireplace in the bar area. We came in at about 8:45, about an hour before closing. Our waitress was friendly and fast with the drinks and appetizers. My friends ordered some seared sriracha ahi tuna and an order of chicken nachos. The nachos were HUGE for an app. The ahi tuna was really good, it was blackened with a nice heat from the sriracha. For dinner I ordered the 12oz Ribeye with double broccoli, since I am low carb. That steak was cooked a perfect medium. It was one of the best steaks I have had out in a while. We have driven by this place almost daily for the 3 months we have lived here in Spring Lake. Last night we decided to stop in for dinner. From the outside we got Dive Bar vibes. Boy were we wrong! Brisket Queso was good. It was thin, so I wonder how it is different from the Brisket Queso Soup. Dinner was served in shifts, it was apparent that the Buffalo Mac n Cheese was ready well before the Fried Walleye and left to sit. The noodles and cheese sauce were barely warm. We asked for it to be warmed up. The fried fish was piling hot, but the french fries were tepid. The sent back pasta was returned to the table before my Club sandwich arrived at the table. They needed to remake it, noticed before they brought it to the table, I requested no onions. They did bring my side dish: roasted sweet potatoes. They were warm, not hot, and still crunchy in the middle. We also ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts, which only seemed to be deep fried. The restaurant filled up while we were there. Service was good, not amazing, but she was on top of things, offering refills before we needed them. My husband enjoyed his meal, so we will probably be back. read more

We needed a space for a 90th birthday party for 80 people on a Saturday afternoon and, after talking to one of the managers at TED's, we knew right away that we had found the perfect fit. We were able to reserve the main dining area with room for people to sit or stand, and the acoustics were good for multiple groups to chat and catch up without it overwhelming the room. We selected a mixture of appetizers that the kitchen kept replenished, hot and ready. Everybody raved about the meat balls! We were also able to arrange for an open bar. Our party was from 1pm-4pm, which worked out perfectly to allow for an hour of setup before the party and an hour after to allow TED's to reconfigure the room for dining at 5pm. This party could not have turned out better! There was plenty of room for people to mingle, places to sit down with a plate of food, and easy access to the man-of-the-hour. The pricing for this event was extremely reasonable, and there was no fee to reserve the room. Our servers were Jodi and Heather, and they were friendly and efficient, keeping the drinks flowing for the entire group without missing a beat! I highly recommend TED's for a medium to large sized private party. They will work with you to pick out food your guests will enjoy and will take care of them like royalty when they get to the party. The atmosphere is very homey. Everything is basically an upscale diner, without being overly fancy. Both I and my Aunt ordered the Texas Pot Roast ($19). Which is Barbecue roasted beef, piled high on garlic potatoes & spiralized carrots brushed with sweet onion BBQ sauce. The Roast beef wad perfectly cooked and very tender and delicious. The Onion barbecue sauce was excellent and went amazing with everything. The potatoes were delicious and even though I don't really like carrots, they definitely belonged. The only thing I would change is I would drizzle some of the BBQ sauce over the entire meal, not just on the roast beef. We both added a Side Salad ($6). It was a little pricey, however it was a good size and was very tasty. The Dressings also were A+. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Very disappointing g and lackluster meal , no wonder it wasn't busy on a Holiday Saturday. The prices are very high , out of line for bar food ... 24 dollars for a dozen wings , 18 for many sandwiches w fries ... The food was meh... The fries came out cold having sat for a long time , they did replace them but not until the meal was basically over . Hard to screw up a burger but it was underwhelming , the walleye sandwich has promise but way too much bun , they need to serve it on a lower profile bread . The fish and Cajun sauce are lost in all the bread . Next time we will just keep driving by and go somewhere else w better food and atmosphere. I had the pleasure of going to Ted's for dinner yesterday. The atmosphere is so relaxing and vacation like, but I was in Spring Haven, so it was fitting. The food was delicious! We had fried pickles, which were to die for, sausage gumbo and a Derby Salad. All of the food was absolutely amazing! What I loved most was the personable and welcoming environment. The owner came over and introduced himself, asked if we had been there before and asked how we learned of the restaurant. We explained we were there for business and it was a recommendation from one of our colleagues. He inquired as to who the referral was from, we told him, and he said he would be right back. When he came back to the table he brought a gift card to us and said please give this to your coworker for the referral. I was so impressed! Loved how this owner not only welcomed us into his restaurant, but also how appreciative he was of the referral and to show gratitude for it speaks volumes about the customer service from the top down. The owner went to this extent to welcome us, which was so thoughtful, but the food and the atmosphere will bring me back whenever I visit Spring Haven. Thanks so much Ted. Flavors of the food was all good. The brisket queso is perfect. I would like to try more of the shareable s. They had a limited menu right now but service didn't seem slow and we didn't seem to have to wait extra long for food and we went on a Saturday evening. This might be the key for other restaurants to follow suit right now make your menu more selective so you can serve people in a timely manner and not wear out your staff. You can expect good food at a good price at Ted's. We go there regularly with my dad, because the food is always good. I love the soup and salmon. The burgers look great, but unfortunately I gave them up for health reasons. My dad likes the shrimp dinner, lobster and Mac and my wife like the salmon and walleye. The service is fantastic! My parents had the butterfly shrimp and they were just frozen shrimp and not good at all. My daughters kids steak was supposed to be medium rare and it came out well done. It didn't seem to be because of a staff shortage, there were plenty of staffers hanging around outside of the kitchen area. When requesting water, it was never delivered. I think it was just a matter of one server trying to handle everything with little to no help. Ok, yes I did eat them (after they soaked in my drink)but I would've preferred Amerena cherry. Or even a fresh cherry. Started with Smoked Whitefish. Tasty and served quickly. Hubby had mushroom burger, I opted for Whitefish Po Boy w sweet potato tots. Whitefish, crispy good flavor with spicy mayo. So I seriously love bacon, but it was not needed on the sandwich. Nice quiet little place we discovered visiting Grand Haven. Went on a Thursday night and not too crowded. Everything was excellent. The brisket cheese soup was great! The parmesan fish was delicious and the cole slaw was not they typical thing you'd expect. Very tasty. Truffle fries were a nice addition to the fish. Girlfriend had the cherry chicken salad sandwich and loved it. Went back the day after because it was so good. Highly recommended. read more

TED's is just what Spring Lake needed! An all American-simple, but very satisfying restaurant! What the owners have done with the place since Vic's Mexican Grill has left is flat out amazing! Rather than the place feeling like 2 separate restaurants as you enter like Vic's did, TED's blew out the whole middle portion of the building making for one outstanding renovation. I can't say enough about the great work they have done with the place. You must see for yourself! On my first visit to TED's I treated myself to the Mushrooms & Onions burger! It tasted just a good as it looked! The burger was cook to perfection, smothered in sautéed mushrooms and crispy fried onions! Now this is saying a lot, but I would compare it to Muskegon's famous The Station Grill's burgers! This place is a must visit and a great addition to the town of Spring Lake! read more

My girlfriend and I ate here the other day. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, very modern and beach. One would think other restaurants and breweries in Spring Lake would try to embrace the village's heritage and/or lake connection. In any case, we had burgers and they were delicious. We began with a few starters like the fries and White Fish spread. If I were Ted's, id probably add some pita chips along with the bread which accompanies the white fish spread. We finished the bread, but had a lot of the spread left. With that said, the white fish spread was incredible. We have had the pretzels too when we visited for a cocktail- delish. The burgers were excellent; nice flavor, a good portion, and the bun wasn't your typical burger bun. We ordered our burgers medium-well and that's exactly how they arrived. They were juicy and super flavorful. Both of us would order the same dish again. My burger in the photo looks a little mushed because I had already taken a bite. The service at Ted's is among the best in the Tri-cities. The wait staff and bar keeps are courteous, friendly, and attentive, even when the place is hopping! I used to frequent a small restaurant in Spring Lake but the bar keep was always on her phone with her back to the customers, and I'd end up waiting to get a beer. Ted's crew isn't like that. They are energetic and friendly, but not over the top. So, Ted's is a great place and I'd recommend a visit. We drove in from Grand Rapids and we will again. read more

The food is usually very good. Tonight the perch sat under the warming lights a bit to long. They were very small pieces and VERY dried out. We were told they usually come with fries but they were out so we ordered Parmesan Zucchini instead. The zucchini was about two bites worth, also very overcooked and dried out. The server walked past five times while the plate of uneaten food was on the side of the table but never once asked how things were or if anything was wrong with it. NOISY. We could barely hear each other talk. Like eating in the middle of a high school cafeteria sound level wise. I thought the white bean hummus was over priced for what you got. I almost sent that back with a "Bish Please" note attached. The seasoning was *meh*, mostly salty. We substitute a Beyond Burger party for the Mushroom and Onion burger. The sandwich was great. I did enjoy that. Our party split the sides. Kettle chips excellent. Sweet potato tots good, I don't even like sweet potatoes. The cilantro slaw was a real disappointment. Another salt is the main seasoning. No tang. Not even just the subtle tones of the ingredients. I really was looking forward to it. Waitstaff was attentive and patient. Gets a three from me because the place is noisy AF. You shouldn't have to shout to the person next to you. The just over 1/4 cup of white bean hummus is a rip off for $11. The rest of the food was good. They offer up the Beyond Burger with a GF roll and vegan cheese, so that's something in a line up of meat and fried stuff. IF you are taking anyone with diet restrictions, really look over their menu before going. It's bar food. It's got heavy salt, meaty things and fried things. Not that it is a thing. If I had a family with kids 3 to 12 years old, this place would be perfect. We had people in our party, who SPECIFICALLY picked this place, then crabbed there wasn't anything "healthy" on the menu. I am getting so frustrated trying to find a restaurant that doesn't cremate its burgers. I specifically asked for medium rare with noticeable pink inside, but it came back looking like a victim of a war atrocity. So, I sent it back, which I almost never do because I don't want to get it tampered with with some "special sauce." When the recooked burger came back, it was still well done. If a restaurant can't cook a simple cheeseburger without turning it into soot, I will never go back. I am suspicious the cook used to work at a funeral home and old habits are hard to break. The beer I had was good, but if you want a good burger that is cooked medium rare, go to the Station Grill in Muskegon and forget about everywhere else. read more
