Pam's Chicago style Italian beef with side baked beans
    Renee J.

Carryout order. First time visit. After reading about the Original 3 little pigs, 1/3 lb pulled pork, 1/3 lb ham, 1/3 lb bacon with one side, I had to try it. I didn't realize it was a sandwich...and huge. Very good! Bacon nice and crispy, even with bbq sauce. For the side, sassy slaw...wow, really spicy hot pepper...too spicy for me. As 2 of us were eating, I ordered the Chicago style roast beef, with saute onions and melted cheese. This probably would have been excellent if eaten at restaurant, but the roll got too soggy on the way home. For this side tried the baked beans. Definitely not canned, good taste. They have a sign on front door that warns menu prices are cash, and there will be a 3.9% increase for credit card payments...fare enough, common practice for some Newaygo area restaurants. Definitely will be back to try other menu options....and eat at establishment.

    Holy cow!! Amazing pork nachos

Stopped here on a whim. The decor is really cool in here, and the service good. The food is great! I regularly get pork nachos, and these were hands down the best I've had! I ordered the BBQ pork nachos, and they had coleslaw on them - so delicious!! If you're out this way, you must check this place out!

    Onion rings just right

Outstanding food. We went here on a recommendation and I am so glad I did. Almost missed it driving by, but smelled the smoker going right away. Walking in you think that it might be a little rough. Small town bar and it looks the part. No frills added but the decor fits. Old time items throughout the place. Just take a minute to look at the theme and you'll understand it. Felt right at home. The service was good. Very prompt and friendly. Now to the food. Started with onion rings of which I added a picture. Done just right and they were huge and very tasty. We both ordered the smoked pulled pork BBQ sandwich. You could smell the smoke aroma as soon as the plate hit the table. I added a touch more sauce than they had on there, which I thought was nice. Came with a little and you could always add more. If it came with to much, that's the way you'd have to eat it. My wife liked it the way it came. Nice cut fries with seasoning on them. I'll have to remember not to eat before passing through Grant again. I could only eat half my meal. I will stop here again for sure.

Fries always come out cold. They are not friendly, especially when you point out the food is cold. Hotter than heck in the summer.

Great pork and bbq sauce. Wife had the spicy chicken wrap and it was spicy for sure. GREAT onion rings and fries. Rustic experience.

There is even a caboose for the kids to play on near the entrance. They also have a toy train that goes around the ceiling. It's just a cool place if you have kiddos or love history. Was very pleased to see they have all day breakfast for my pancake loving kiddo! He got the Mickey Mouse pancakes. Had chocolate chips for eyes and a nose and a piece of bacon for the mouth. He ate every single bite. I ordered the taco salad and it was very good nothing to write home about but will definitely get again. My husband got the chicken fried steak and loved it so much that I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it. They also have a ton of different pies and turnovers and cookies to choose from. Lemon Meringue pie is my absolute favorite and I was able to get a piece of that. They also have peanut butter pie, pecan pie, coconut cream pie, cherry pie, apple pie.... you name it is so good and you can tell everything is made from scratch. Will Definitely be back for breakfast again!

By the time we left around 10:30/10:45 it was picking up a little bit and it appears that they have some sort of breakfast buffet. We weren't informed of what it was and I didn't see it on the menu. We both ordered breakfast and also their fried pickles for an app. The pickles were not good. The pickle was like frozen cold and I also don't think the cream cheese is a good addition. The breakfast was pretty good though! I had chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and sausage. The eggs were cooked to my ordered temp and the sausage was good. I especially liked the pancakes! The spot is an old train depot (duh). We were sitting in the front room and sat in one of the old booths. It was SO quiet. I felt like all the others tables could hear my entire conversation. I think it'd be cool to be in the restaurant at a table next to a window while a train is going by behind the restaurant.

We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. The drinks were okay for the price but not particularly memorable. The standout was the NY strip steak, which was easily the best part of the meal and really well done. We also ordered the beer battered fries to start and they were fine, nothing bad but nothing special about them either. My only real complaint is the limited menu availability. Two of the six entrées were already sold out by the time we got there, even though my partner made the reservation weeks in advance. I understand the realities of a farm to table model and respect the commitment to sourcing and seasonality, but on a fixed, high-demand holiday, the limited options were noticeable and slightly disappointing . Overall it was still a good experience, just one that could have been better with a bit more menu flexibility. Hoping to be back on a less busy day in the summer since I really want to love this restaurant!

What can I say? It was very delicious. I was delighted that my filet mignon arrived sizzling. The asparagus and potatoes were devoured quickly, and I couldn't get enough of my husband's french fries. Next, the ambiance. Aside for the fact that we had the restaurant all to ourselves for most of our stay, the view was amazing! The dinner experience alone made me feel so fancy and underdressed. I can't wait to experience dining in the summer. I would go for a walk outside or have some drinks by the fire pit. The numerous Christmas trees and hanging ornaments gave the place such a festive vibe. Last but equally important, the service was fantastic. The place was a triple treat for my milestone birthday. Speaking of which, my entree was half off since today is my actual birthday. Yay me!

Had the Parmesan crusted walleye for my entree and it was SO tasty, totally recommend trying it! I love margaritas, but this blood orange margarita was not what I expected. It was too sweet for me and I personally would not recommend it. Does not taste like a margarita at all. The outdoor patio ambiance during the summer has the best sunset views. They also have a golf simulator inside and bar connected, which is fun. The only negative thing I would say is that they don't take reservations, which is odd to me.
