    Smoked pork nachos
    Katy C.

A group of 11 of us stopped in to Newaygo Brewing Co after kayaking the Muskegon River. We were seated right away and our first server was great - super friendly, helpful, and on top of things getting all of our orders. She handed us off to another server before our food came out and things kind of went downhill after that in terms of service. (Had to ask for refills, waited a long time for our bills, and one item didn't come out until way after everyone else's meals.) They were out of the brat kebab that I wanted so I went with the smoked pork nachos. Nate got the naan grilled cheese and an IPA that he really liked. I had several bites of the naan grilled cheese as I waited for my nachos. The cheese was shredded and not super melty but the flavors were very good. I think they're known for their pizza, which looked delicious but I just wasn't feeling that hungry. Finally my nachos came out and they were just ok. The whole plate was really wet, I think from the salsa, so some of the chips were pretty soggy and it was very salty. I did like the pineapple in the salsa. I wouldn't order these again. Overall it was a fine place for our needs but it's not top on my list for the area.

Spectacular food, spectacular drinks, spectacular service and atmosphere. Can I say anything more? The pizzas we got were both amazing. We got the Mediterranean pizza which was loaded with so much goodness. One pizza and 4 adult drinks (not all for me!) was ~$50. Pizza itself was around just under $20.

Such a great gem, my boyfriend and I ate here per recommendation of an Airbnb host and it was well worth it! The food was delicious, we got the bread sticks, a Ruben and the Mac and cheese. We also got a four pack of their BOB beer to go! Thank you so much! It was delish

The food specials (burger) are always awesome and the beer is good. Trivia and live music are always fun.

We had Kerry as a server and she was so kind and sweet. The soup was delicious and tried two different beers. Great atmosphere!

This is Crispy rangoon pockets filled with fried duck bacon blended with sweet corn and cream cheese inside a fried wonton. Served with spicy honey. This was one of the best thing's I've eaten in years. They are absolutely delicious. I also ordered their 3 Meat Smoker Bbq combination ($40). I got Ribs, Brisket, and Smoked Wings. Served with baked beans, potato salad, and corn bread. The Ribs werd delicious. Tender and very tasty. The brisket was very good. The wings were good, but small. I got the Bourbon sauce and their Bbq sauce. The Bourbon sauce was excellent and the bbq sauce was tasty, but I definitely preferred the bourbon sauce. The baked beans were excellent. I'm a little bit of a baked bean snob, and these pass my test. The potato salad was okay, but I didn't finish it. The Cornbread was also excellent! The service was were this place failed brilliantly. I walked in and was ignored by the older lady who was having a slow conversation with another customer and didn't even acknowledge me. I decided to use the restroom. When I came out there was a girl on the phone for 5 minutes for someone making a reservation. Again didn't even acknowledge me. Their was the older lady standing back by the bar, looked like either an owner or manager, just having a conversation with another employee the entire time. Just ignoring me. Finally a waitress walked up after waiting way too long and asked If I'd been helped. After being seated it took almost 10 minutes to get served. The place wasn't even 50% full, so there was no excuse. After finally ordering the service was hit or miss. Okay for a little bit then absent again. When I was actually served it was very friendly. I was considering ordering one of their new shakes, but with the absentee service a d her nit even asking if I wanted dessert, I decided against it. Overall the rating is difficult. The food and atmosphere definitely deserve a 5. The service was so bad the rating should be a 3 at best. However considering those Wontons I'll give the place an iffy 4 star review! Would I return? If only for the Wontons than an absolute yes.

The first choice was unavailable, then the second, then the third. After joking with our server that if the fourth beer wasn't available she should just bring us both Cokes, she returned to let us know that one was unavailable as well. To her credit, she did bring the Cokes!! After placing our order, there was a lengthy wait before any food arrived. We were at the restaurant far longer than expected for a meal consisting of soup, salad, and a steak dinner. Unfortunately, much of the food was barely warm, and some items that should have been served hot were cold. My husband ordered the porterhouse steak with French onion soup, waffle fries, and coleslaw. I ordered the fried goat cheese salad and onion petals. The waffle fries and onion petals were cold when served. When our server checked on us, we politely mentioned the issue. The waffle fries and onion petals were remade, but while the fries came back hot, the onion petals were still cold. Beyond that, there was little effort made to address the rest of the meal or improve the experience.

This is a place that truly represented what a family restaurant was to me. It's changed a bit now…read more The giant painting of the city of Palermo no longer hangs on the western wall, the Italian colors in the form of curtains have been replaced. The exquisite fried zucchinis my uncle would buy me when I was a little boy have gone extinct, can no longer be found on the menu. But most importantly, the booth in the corner is empty, the booth where you would find the owner smoking a cigarette almost every night. Unfortunately he passed, a very serious fellow but he could cook wonders. A truly authentic feel and taste. The roast beef sub was in my opinion, the best in the region. And their chicken Alfredo was super creamy, a real delicacy. The Italian bread was the secret I believe. A very nostalgic place to me that is no more, the changes have been drastic. They say change is good but there's always an exception. The roast beef sub was perfect, it didn't need to switch from Swiss to cheddar cheese and definitely didn't need bacon. I did ask for the original which they gladly made, the taste was a bit off though. The Alfredo was a bit watery and the flavor was very mild compared to the rich, sharper flavor the older one had. The pizza wasn't bad, didn't change much. Service was pretty decent, no complains there. The updated menu was a real game changer for me, will no longer be dining here.
