When we first stumbled across this cute little place, off the beaten path, we thought we really found a great spot! As we bragged about it and introduced our friends to Shindy's, the story began to change. The service continued to get slower each time we stopped in. They seem to be very unorganized! The servers don't know who is covering what tables. Even the owners didn't seem to understand how a business like this is ran properly. The food was excellent the first few times we visited, but each time it got worse. One time we were the only dinner guests in the place when we ordered, and 45 minutes later we got a pizza that was burned almost beyond recognition. The only thing that I really appreciated is how pleasant the servers are when they do make their rounds! I sincerely hope Shindy's turns these issues around soon. The place has so much potential. Yes, delicious pizza at a gas station!!! Stopped in on our way to Big rapids and sooo glad we did! This has to be the best pizza I've had in a very long time. The thin crust is baked perfectly and toppings are perfectly fresh and enough. Stop in on Monday where it's buy one get one half price! That sealed it for us getting two pizzas. That means a late night snack. Great food, friendly service with locals willing to chat and share their puppies! Full bar and a very extensive pizza menu. I have no idea what else they offer but the owner stopped by saying they are looking to add desserts...yes please! Prices may be a bit higher but honestly the quality is above par, so worth the bit extra. $56 for both of us, two pizzas, 3 beers and 1 local beer during happy hour. Parking is ok, might be hanky during summer months but again so worth it! Atmosphere is small, rustic and oh so friendly! STOP HERE and get the best pizza ever!!! Don't go here unless you like trump and religious beliefs being shoved down your throat at the cost of $25 per pizza. It's a gas station with hot dogs and pizza. Maybe if they didn't spend so much money on horrible trump cardboard cutouts and nasty trump wine they could afford to lower the price of their tariff imposed pizza and baseball stadium quality hot dogs. The names of their pizzas give you a taste of their creativity and sense of humor, not to mention everyone gets a nickname. Schindy's on Diamond Lake is must visit just make a special drive/trip. I was skeptical at first because their pizzas are quite expensive. I understand you get what you pay for. We got two pizzas and garlic cheesy breadsticks. Everything was a hit. Very delicious. I will continue to purchase but not as often due to the increased price. read more

STAY AWAY FROM SCHINDY'S at DIAMOND LAKE!!!!! I came up from Grand Rapids to meet a friend. Had a drink, and enjoyed a calzone. Total with a drink and tip was $40. Then before I left, I picked out a 20 oz soda, a bag of yogurt pretzels, and a 2 pack of cookies. All totalling over $17.00. I said to myself wow, that's a high bill, but obviously it's a small business. Here's where the story gets weird... As I was standing at the counter to be rung up, we waited with no one coming to help us for several minutes. My friend walked around the short counter and knocked on the door asking for someone to ring us up. A lady came out of the kitchen, rung me up, had small talk and said thank you. We walked out, heading to our cars, and the owner followed us out to the parking lot. She then began yelling at us stating that we had no right to go behind the counter to find someone to ring us up. And finished with, "you are never wanted back again." I don't know if she is drunk, or just not a very good business woman, but Diane needs to understand that you don't talk to patrons like that. I called the bar and asked to speak to Eric, co-owner. Explained that I did not appreciate how his wife handled her melt down and he said, "you're not from around here, so you don't know anything." He said my concern over the phone was not going to be taken seriously as he called it "$h!t talking." So don't try calling them, it will do no good. If you're a local, you may have better luck. Abysmal service and food. They shove their personal political beliefs down your throat instead of serving food that won't land you on a toilet a short time after. The owners are beyond classless and rude and treat the customers who don't agree with them like crap. They are beyond petty and wreak of incompetence. I do not recommend!!!!
